Too expensive, not clean, didn't return my suit.
I paid for the "Horizon club" Bund River View. It was cool but definitely not worth $400 per night. A large chunk of the price is for the excelled breakfast buffet, so take advantage if that. It was Very Good! The room was wide, but narrow. The TV was in the most inconvenient location, partially blocking the view. It should be mounted up and out of the way, but it's literally Bolted to the table and the table is Bolted to the floor... so you can't move it. It just swivels. The carpets were pretty disgusting. Multiple stains and discoloration. The room decor was old fashioned and not modernized at all. The bed was great. However, the bathroom was too small. Very awkward design. Supposedly being in the Horizon Club includes one free "pressing".... but that is NOT the same as dry cleaning. I gave them my suit, and the next day they returned it saying they won't clean it because they found a tiny hole in it.? I assumed it was my complete suit, but when I arrived in a different city, I realized that they did NOT return my pants or tie! Why! I asked them specifically during checkout if there's any extra costs for my checkout, and the lady assured me "no". Apparently that was bogus. When we called them, they explained that I didn't pay $23 for the pants, so they held it hostage. Why didn't they tell me this during checkout!? Why didn't they tell me this when they returned my suit coat??? Zero logic. We had to pay extra to have my pants delivered across China. Not worth it!
I will coming back
Loved this place and would definitely go back. It is in a super convenient locations.
good
Wonderful.
Excellent
Not as good as Jiang An Shangri-La overall.
Great hotel
Everything about this place was amazing
It was an incredible experience with warm hospitality from Shelly and Alice! They were fantastic! We will come back
Wide spread of buffet breakfast. Near to train station.
Good location
Wonderful place to stay!
Friendly staff, I arrived at Pudong airport and took Metro for only CNY 6.00 per person.
Very good breakfast
Phenomenal location with phenomenal views from your room looking out over Shanghai. My most impressive hotel room in decades.
Room wasn't ready so we were moved to the Shangrila part. Room was dark and outdated. Bathroom old, shower drain was clogged. Bed was tiny like for a little child. Overall not what one would expect from even 3 stars hotel in US. Service was excellent. Personal, friendly and helpful. Food was excellent as well. This building needs some Reno pronto...
Beautiful place, just next to Tv towel, which is famous tourism area. Will revisit it next time
No Facility for those in wheelchairs
Excellent, the staff, from the bell boys, doormen, receptionists were friendly and helpful. It is within walking distance to the Oriental Pearl Tower, the Shanghai Tower and other interesting places. Awesome choices for breakfast and nice European afternoon tea in the luxurious high ceiling lounge. Only complain is it is not equipped to look after invalid people, especially those on wheel chairs.
Fabulous stay
Fantastic stay. Hotel staff were quick to provide me with replacement room when the original room was contaminated by cigarette smoke from an inconsiderate guest who'd occupied it previously. Overall, very professional and great service by service staff.
Safe but too noisy
Location
Top notch place!
Mediocre Hotel
First of all, I wouldn't recommend staying in Pudong. Everything you're likely to do as a tourist is on the Puxie side of the river. The rooms have a dated feel to them, but the common areas of the hotel are very nice. To me the only stand out part of the hotel was the Health Club. They have a gym, jacuzzis, a Turkish sauna, a Finnish Sauna, and the pool. For an International class hotel, the level of English spoken at the hotel is virtually non-existent. We had to use Google Translate to speak to most of the staff. Check in took about 30 minutes with no line. We reserved two King rooms, but got one King room and one twin room. We didn't want to spend another 30 minutes trying to get this worked out. Whatever you do, DO NOT EAT in the Lobby Lounge. Prices are 3-4 times what you would pay outside the hotel and the food strives to be mediocre. The food isn't made anywhere nearby and will be cold or lukewarm by the time it gets to you.
Location is very accessible to metro /maglev. About 8 mins walk to hotel from metro, Lujiacui. Room facing huangpu river and walking distance to the Bund . Oriental pearl tower and Disney store are nearby. Highly recommended hotel. 👍
Pleasant stay. Love it.
Nothing to add all was good
nice
Milo is outstanding
Best view in Shanghai but the building needs update. The vault wasn’t working but staff was great at fixing the issue. There’s two side of the building. Old and new tower.
Excellent hotel. Extremely clean and tastefully designed. Breakfast buffet was filled with options and so vast. Try Jade on 36 bar for a good view and nice cocktails.
Great Location and great service!
For the price, there are lots of better options, this is simply too expensive for what it is, not the experience I had expected from a hotel like this.
Awesome property in the middle of the best area of the financial district in Pudong. Many places to eat and lots of good views across the river. You can walk 5 minutes to the ferry to cross to Puxi and walk the Bund All in all a great deal these days at the low rates they are charging.
Pleasant stay.
This hotel is awesome! A Shanghai institution it is just now showing a few signs of needing a refurb after I assume 4 pretty tough years. Nonetheless they have modified their rates to account for this and it is a great bargain in one of the best locations in Shanghai. Enjoy afternoon tea in their wonderful lounge and take a walk on the river just steps away. Also the Super Brand mall with lots of eating options is right next store. Take pictures of the three soldiers, three of the tallest buildings in the world right next door too. All in all a real bargain!!
It’s the best hotel around the corner !
Common areas have very strong scent. Like baby powder that is very overpowering. Room, on the other hand smelled old and stale. The other tower didn’t seem to have this problem.
Short stay
Very nice hotel with excellent views over the river. Lots of shops and restaurants in easy walking distance too.
Shangri-la is a 5star hotel in a great area. Excellent chinese restaurant on property. Outstanding bar on 36th flr. Easy walking to Oriental Pearl tower as well as ferry. Ferry is great way yto access the Bund river promenade. Highly recommended!!!
Very centrally located. Beautiful hotel.
We enjoyed our stay and will stay there again for sure.
The staff were all incredibly lovely and helpful. Had a wonderful stay.
Shangri la used to be a straight 5* for me but with the years the service has been downgraded, the rooms in this hotel were outdated too.
Room sizes are big. Heating is not enough. Service is excellent. The view is beautiful.
Great hotel
Great stay
The hotel is beautiful decorated with Christmas spirit. I specially love the variety food choice of the buffet. The staffs in the buffet is extremely helpful and hard working.
Service was amazing, people were friendly and helpful!
The cafe prices is ridiculous. One tea costs 168rmb? Way too much honestly!!!
Very good service But no good at swimming area. Not clean
Great location and staff was very attentive. Will come back.
Was ok
Good
The river view from my room window overlooking the old historical monumental buildings embraced by the city modern skyline is stunning. It’s the Venice of the Far East. The hotel lobby is grand and majestic which makes you feel like a celebrity each time you make an entrance. The staff are very nice and helpful. The room furniture is so authentic as if you are in the forties from the days of elegance and style. This hotel is my favorite place to stay.
We would like to thank the staff as they were very attentive, accommodating and professional. I would highly recommend again.
Must try the buffet breakfast.
Great overall experience. The buffet breakfast was amazing.
Wonderful hotel and location. Beautiful view to city. Metro station just in 5 min walk.
Love the linens. Rooms are very spacious. Good customer service.
It has the best view of the bund of the Shanghai!
This hotel is located in the finance district, Pudong area, near the Oriental Pearl Tower. It is a very large hotel with two towers. Our room had a river view, which is beautiful at night. Walking from the back of the hotel, there is a walk way and bicycle lane along the Huangpujiang. About 5 minutes walk, there is a subway entrance of line 14, that allows you to connect to other subway lines. Yu Garden is only one subway station away. Subway line 2 station that can get you to the Pudong airport is approximately 10-15 minutes walk. Staff are also very helpful.
Nice area,but old facility
Great place
Excellent
Comfortable bed, great concierge and room service. Lovely facilities for gym, swimming, and steam room.
The room and bathroom could use some refurbishing. I chose the room type with the nice view and purposely paid extra. Unfortunately, the actual view was nothing like the photos on Expedia and was disappointing. Breakfast buffet has the same things everyday.
good location and great staff service
nice view
Great stay and exceptional view from the Jade bar. My only compliant is, I don't understand the happy hour. It's buy one get one free but my bill is always way higher than what's listed.
a disappointment from a 5 star international hotel
I spent one night to use the hotel facilities, and found the pool, saina and Gym at my part of the hotel was not working for the next week. the alternative in the other building was not as good and smaller. the service at the front desk was extremly slow for check in and most all the staff did not talk english. talking with a phone translator can be nice, but not in a 5 star international hotel
We checked in on 7/12/2023. The room was very spacious and nice with gorgeous view. However when my husband sat on a vanity chair, he fell down and hurt his back because the vanity chair was broken! It’s such an unacceptable mistake that it could get someone especially old people severe hurt. The hotel staffs came over to look at the chair and apologized. They also gave some medicine for my husband to sanitize the wound. However, we don’t really feel that they understand how bad is the incident so we are pretty upset. The management needs to look into this matter seriously to avoid same mistake happen to any hotel guest.
Very good service
The staff in general are helpful, but most of them don’t speak English. The place is bit old as the price of the rooms are not cheap
Great location with great view.
Nice!
Great as usual.
The hotel is located at a very nice area, but staff attitude is not like a five-star hotel, rude and impatient. Facilities are getting old.
The all you can eat breakfast is the best ones I’ve had. They have so many options ranging from western to Shanghainese food. We rotated trying different food for three days straight! Hotel room was very tidy and great service all around in a really convenient location.
The Shangri-la stands out for it’s unbeatable location un Shanghai. The food is also great. The staff and general operation show good management practices.
good
Very clean and breakfast is excellent! Very friendly staff.
The accommodation and service was very good but I do not know if I would prefer this hotel again as my last night at the hotel was not such a good reason that the receptionist at the bar did not allow me to enter and did not even address me but to the woman I accompanied. When the bar manager came and solved the problem it was too late since our mood had already deteriorated
The hotel location is good, easy to take metro and bus, and just nearby IFC that is good for shopping.
This is a great experience. The hotel is luxurious. The staff are super friendly and helpful. The food was great. Location is great, very convenient to everywhere. Our room is nice and clean with great view. Overall great experience! Will come back again.
Best view of the river in Shanghai.
Stayed in Pudong Shangri-La East Shanghai for 2 nights before flying to Beijing (After 14 days landing quarantine from UK) . This will be one of the best view hotel in Shanghai. Location was awesome, just 5 minutes walk to the Pearl of the East Tower. Staff was very friendly. Temperature checks at every entrance.
Good hotel.
Good hotel with great service. Not cheap, but that goes without saying. Neighborhood have high scale malls with all the luxury gods one can imagine.
A Very Nice Hotel
I stayed at the Shangri-la Pudong around the Lunar New Year. It is close to two large shopping malls, restaurants, and the subway. Using the latter, it's just one stop from East Nanjing Road, and similarly it's a short taxi ride to the Bund. The view from my room of the Bund was spectacular. Breakfast was quite good as well.
It’s in a unique location, easy to find. The staff helped us a lot and the place was very clean. The food was really superb as well.
Better English please
Communication with front desk were at times frustrating due to the lack of understanding in the English language
Nice hotel but you could definitely see some age on the property. Still, very nice place.
Relatively Old facility. But overall very comfortable and clean.
This time’s stay is for the business. With the recommendations of upgrade, we enjoyed nice view from room, the lounge, and the food. I like here, will come back again
perfect!! everything for our stay was perfect, the staff upgraded out stay to a suite. very nice
not this one.
Literally, there was nothing special. There are many other stunning hotels in Shanghai.
first time in Shanghai
The view from our Bund view room was stunning! The room was clean and in good shape. The shower in our room was fantastic. Excellent water pressure and consistent temperature. The bed was firm and comfortable.
We had a Horizon club room with a king bed the room was very spacious and clean. The club facilities and meals were excellent. Will definitely this hotel to all travellers. Also in a very convenient location.
Fantastic room and view. Lovely touch with the fruit. Two little issues. The scale had no batteries and the staff wrote the wrong room on the card so I was searching for a while before i went down to find out he made a mistake.
Very good location, great staff, I recommend this hotel
Having problem when late night check in, waited a while, they sort out next day morning, bathroom sink stuck couple times.. consider its an old classic hotel, rest is good.
Unintentionally Nostalgic
- the interior design is straight from the late 80s China. very bold, a bit loud, overloaded with chandeliers - lack of maintenance (springs of the mattress is deformed, safe box only works once is a while, ventilation lid at the lift lobby is broken and hung over the ceiling for days without maintenance - only a few members of staff can communicate in English. I'm especially surprised that the staff at the lobby lounge and even at reception cannot speak basic English while the hotel is situated at Pudong, the CBD of Shanghai
Great location
Great location, friendly staff , easy access to Metro . I upgraded to the Horizon club It cost €90 a day but worth it if you use the benefits and a larger room . Judy in reception is a gem ! Good pool and gym and fantastic breakfast choices. Good WiFi .
Excellent service
