Great staff terrible food
Modern fun hotel but the rooms are small and the food from room service is terrible. The service however is amazing with very friendly staff.
The staff are very friendly and helpful. They really try to make your stay comfortable as possible. The loft is really worth every penny, really nice and spacious.
Magnificent hotel
Great hotel. Wonderful ambience, facilities, service and outstanding food. Suki makes amazing omelettes.
This was the greatest experience. Marriott did an excellent job. This hotel offers amazing accommodations(Loft). Great ambience and service from the moment you pull up. The food was great and the entertaining vibe was awesome. What an experience.
Food from the hotel's restaurant was excellent, including the breakfast buffet
Nice hotel, great staff, breakfast nice. Rooms are a bit small.
The staff were friendly and helpful.
Amazing Stay!
The hotel staff is absolutely amazing! Very accommodating and friendly. Lobby bar was great and the restaurant offerings. Rooms clean and spacious. I’ll be back!
Fire and Ice Hotel on "Fire".
After confirming 3 times that I wanted 2 rooms next to one another or closeby, I was still given the opposite. It was only corrected the next day which was rather inconvenient. Besides that inconvenience I found the staff extremely friendly and helpful. The Hotel was spotless at all times. We had three light meals at the hotel and really enjoyed them tremendously. Compliments to the chef! The sweetie jar at reception was also a winner. Everyday something else.
Great stay at Fire & Ice.
Three night business stay. Great room, nice view. Everything worked. Staff friendly and professional. Like the quirky touches and decoration. Easy parking at an added daily rate. Very central location. Great breakfast selection.
Staff was excellent and service was beyond!
My stay is generally okay for anyone who will spend most of their time outdoors. The rooms are small though well designed with a flat screeen tv,fridge and hot kettle. The shower was great! The beds were comfortable but the pillows were terrible. They also do not have iron boxes incase you need one. It’s ideal for adventurous and younger individuals/couples I also didn’t like that they didn’t have curtains so sleeping past 5 am is impossible as the light comes right through! The location is great in a quiet place
Nice, quiet place with a good vibe. Good for business and pleasure.
Great sleep
It was a great bed, room was last minute & not bad. Atmosphere was excellent! Price was right!
Best hotel
It was the blessing weekend ever ❤️ Everything was perfect Your food Place Staff
Everything was great.
It is everything one looks for in a hotel. Their services are excellent. I would recommend it for anyone around that area.
Noise & Racket
While all other aspects of the hotel is perfect sevice, food etc, the actual hotel isnt built propperly for noise cancellation. With a night club just across the road this is obvious.
The property was not understanding about an unintentional double booking that was caught within 24 hours of purchase and several weeks prior to the stay. Even the request to not refund but convert to a credit at the property was denied. I will stay somewhere else
The food was great. There was a variety to choose from at every meal. I didn't know about load shearing Until a cab driver told me. I just thought we were experiencing something temporary. Didn't know all of south Africa was experiencing the same thing.
Solo Traveller - Frequent CT visitor
My seconded stay a Protea F&I but a much lesser experience than first time out. My room was above the nightclub. I'd no fridge on this occasion. The water in Cistern had a constant trickle, albeit maintenance were quick to address once raised, however it reoccurred. The shower temperature control was non existant and risk being scalded. I'm a relatively easy customer and can put up with most if not all of the above, but the biggest frustration was no one answering the phone at reception for 15+ minutes (at 6pm looking for room service), so i eventually got up and left the hotel to spend my money in resturant nearby. I also ordered food late at night (Burger menu only) and asked for small salad in liue of chips only to be told it wasn't possible. I wasn't asking for roast potatoes.... just some salad that was already on the burger anyway. Baffling. As such, I found the reception and restaurant service poor this time out. The bar staff and cleaners were good. I'm good to tip, and the staff that went the ectra mile were tipped accordingly but some were very inflexible and lackadaisical. The location is great but on fence if I'd stsy again.
The staff went above and beyond was very helpful
Solo traveller - 4 nights
Nice hotel, great location. Nice trimmings (biscuits, water, hot choclate etc at reception). Wifi was excellent. Breakfast station needs refinement. The queue for eggs takes far too long and they should just have an egg pot rather than queuing at ommlette station. The staff are way to quick to clear away perfectly good food, even if you've only popped to buffet station (as a solo traveller Id no one to mind my table and left my glasses on it, but they still cleared the lot!). Its just wasteful and lacked common sense. Otherwise, a lovely stay and Ill stay again.
Strange hotel, small box room, bizarre design choices.
Ok
Great hotel
I have never net more friendly staff. From Reception, concierge, dining room, bellman etc. All were friendly and helpful. The facility is excellent as well. Tge only draw back us have to take taxi to waterfront where all the activies and resraurants are located.
Excellent hotel 🏨
Great choice for Cape Town stay
The location is perfect. Close to Kloof Street. Very secure. The rooms were modern and clean. Staff is top notch. Highly recommend
Bad service
First morning showers where blocked after that our day two we came back from the hotel at 17:00pm our hotel light was blue showing they must clean our room , we got there the room was not cleaned, we asked about the towels being changed daily they say no u use the same towels until you check out , so disappointed in protea hotel fire and ice
The rooms are very small and crouded
Good friendly staff, had breakfast and the variety was fantastic.... Will definitely be back...
THE SERVICE WAS AMAZING..VERY CONVENIANT LOCATION...AFFORDSBLE DINING AND DRINKING PRICES..THE HOTEL CLEAN AND PERFUMED
Busy Hotel
The room was pleasant and the staff friendly. There’s just a lot of people who are not overnight Hotel guests (which made me some what uncomfortable)
Excellent
Great hotel in the middle of the city. Great for walking to all the nice spots in town
Overall a nice stay , a bit slow on the service delivery
A good stay.
The stay was good. The staff is super friendly. They offer a safe bag drop off should you arrive earlier than the check in time. The location was not my favorite. It’s far from the busyness of the city. The food variations could be improved.
lts a good hotel
the hotel atmosphere is ok
Comfortable, neat rooms , however in safe was not attended to for the duration of 8 days , telephone also not working, otherwise descent
The stay was absolutely amazing
Fire & Ice 204
It was a short overnight stay. Reception Staff was friendly and room was in good order. Overall satisfied with the room and Room service was effecient.
Hotel is modern & attractive. Service is very good . Found the room to be disappointing. Room is really tiny & not pleasant if you want to sit & relax in the room whilst not sleeping . Insufficient windows & natural light
Well located City Hotel
Early arrival in Cape Town and allowed us to check in at 9am - great start to our stay ! Rooms are good size, clean, comfortable with good bedding - we chose Mountain facing. Luggage storage was well located in the reception and we used the free street parking outside the Hotel. Did not take meals and many nearby restaurants and coffee shops. Hotel is midpoint between Table Mountain and Waterfront - perfect location. Thanks for a great stay !
Great for a weekend getaway.
Hotel is conveniently located within easy driving distance to local hotspots. The property amenities were above expectation. Altogether a lovely experience.
Enjoyable stay
Fast Wifi, close to restaurants & bars! Clean & modern
All was very clean. Food excellent--particularly the breakfast buffet. Staff were very pleasant--and especially helpful to accommodate our needs related to a very late flight on day of departure.
Loved the loft and large living room. Was very clean. Staff were very kind and always greeted us in the nicest way
Great location, the staff were friendly and helpful.
Very modern and clean. Cool atmosphere. Close to all.
Great place, friendly staff, reasonably priced. Would stay again
In love with the lofts ! Lots of room very classy and clean! The staff was amazing and very friendly! Everyone appeared to be happy at work. The atmosphere made us feel happy we were staying here! I Would like if they had more face towels available. We were only able to get 1 small face towel for our 2 bedroom loft which had a upstairs and downstairs bathroom. When we called for 1 additional face towel we were told only 1 was available! :( so we ended using the medium size towels.
Amazing
Okay. Wish it had free shuttle service. Rooms were small but I was only there s day and a half so it did the job it needed to do.
Didn't like the fact that I had to pay R80 to use the shuttle bus for the time apart from 8-9am and 5.3-6.3pm and I had to wait for up to 1 hour for the bus to arrive at the V&A Waterfront. The hotel staff were brilliant and very friendly and it was very clean.
One day no water. One day no hot water. Wrong adres with my checkin. Poor internet. No money transfer sevice. No transfer on the website.
Great Hotel and Staff
We stayed for 3 nights at the start of our holiday and the hotel and staff we all fantastic and made us ever so welcome and looked after us. We were able to Check in early and check out late which was such a great help. Would recommend the hotel as an ideal venue and well positioned for Cape Mountain and other tourist attractions.
Excellent Loacation
Really loved the Hotels Location
Broken toilet they didn't fix although mentioned everyday, lack of security
Nice hotel but low reactivity Had to spend one day + in a room without air con 28 degrees before they agree to give me another room
Enjoyable - just to short. When I did the booking I had a special request but never received feedback. The hotel and personnel are very nice.
The Good The room was enormous. I stayed in the loft unit. Funky design Cool view of signal hill Super central so walking to any shops/restaurants was easy The Bad WiFi is ridiculously overpriced at R500 for 2GB. This is seriously a problem for business travel. Room service was really poor with incorrectly labeled items on the menu. The gym was seriously tired and needs a renovation. No bedside lights and sleeping next to the shower is a little strange.
Poor service for the price!
Not so good. TV not working, Aircon not working, staff not aware of housekeeping rules; very amateur staff overall.
Little gem
Arrived earlier than the check in time but my room was prepared within 15mins. Friendly staff; food in restaurant very good and reasonably priced. Good location to walk to Long St, Bree St and Kloof for food and drinking options
No view and bad check out
The bedrooms didn't have enough windows for natural light and I did not like the way I was treated when checking out, the lady wanted me to pay again and even when I explained that payment has been made she insisted on me paying again and also wanted my documents to make copies even though they were made on check in. I didn't like the service at all. I will definitely not come back at this hotel.
Protea fire and Ic Cape town sucks
It was just horrible. Will not recommend to anybody.Toilet flush not working properly and sink was not draining water.Heating seems to be not working at capacity. It was horrible place to be. My friend had same issuse. He was staying in room 205 and myself in 214.I am asking for partial refund.
Pretty much what was expected
Great hotel. House keeping needs some attention though as the room is not supplied with coffee and water after day 1
A wonderful hotel. Young and Vibey. The friendliest staff I have ever encountered at a hotel.
Upgraded but not worth to upgrade
Upgraded free to loft with 2 bedrooms. Bedroom downstairs had no window, noise coming from sewer pipe next to the wall and from garage. TV positioned at the end if bed, I almost went cross-eyed being so close to wide-screen TV. TV programming is very poor. Local calls and internet not free. Had to walk about 100 meters on the street from reception to the next building where lofts are. I dont know what the regular rooms look like, but I didn't like noisy, windowless loft bedroom. Hotel staff was fine, can't complain about their performance. Loft was clean. There was no security in the garage and one could walk right up to my room from there unabstracted. It doesn't feel safe on that street - I saw many people scawange garbage beans right outside the entrance to the building, and dubious personalities walking up and down the street.
Not exactly close to the Waterfront
The hotel offers a shuttle collection from airport, could not email direct and I most defineately did not want to ring from U.K. I managed to get a response from Hotel via the Marriott hotels link. I requested a shuttle and thanked them for their response. The lady Ms Garrow was not in the office for a week and I travelled in 3 days from my request. So had to have a taxi to hotel. Not a nice area felt quite intimidated. Hotel is geared towards the younger generation very noisy at weekends.
OK, not great.
Good location, nice idea, food was good, hotel not great condition, lots of things broken or missing in rooms, not a big focus on detail when cleaning and stocking rooms
Had wall AC's that blew directly on you ALL the ti
See above direct torrent of air full time, hate that type of AC and never get it knowingly Wish I knew ahead of tlme!
was tired and dirty at times not conveniently laid out and amenities were sadly lacking
Disappointed I wouldn't stay here
The place had a tiny outdoor pool and no spa service in the hotel. Don't believe the website the spa is down the street in a small store which is hardly open. Very dissapointed. The restaurant menu wasn't up to scratch either not much of a variety. Internet service they only gave you coupons which you had to ask for all the time
Worst hotel. Ever.
Bad check in - they ask guests to "guess" how much they might spend in a day to determine the credit card hold authorization amount. Rooms not prepared as we had asked - after asking 3 times we gave up. We needed one room with one bed, and another room with two beds, which apparently is too much work for them. This hotel is falsely advertised on Expedia - they DO NOT have king sized beds. We were placed in a room with a queen and the hotel staff told me that was their king size. Elevators under construction for over a year now. Two elevators are available but very slow. Rooms very small, the professional photos are misleading. Be prepared to duck to not hit your head on the wall-mounted TV. Feces smell coming from the shower drain. New Year's Eve party poorly managed and folks without VVIP access were allowed in that area, creating a 40 minute wait at the bar. Communication from the top-down is non-existent. Every time we asked an employee a question, they said, "Let me go get my manager." Staff are rude and act like you are an inconvenience to them. No semblance of customer service happening at this place. The entire hotel is disorganized and poorly managed. We stayed for 6 nights, so the problems were compounded each day. Bottom line - service is terrible. I can guarantee you will get more for your money at a hostel for a much cheaper price. Don't let your fabulous vacation to Cape Town be overshadowed by a terrible hotel experience.
Stay away if you expect promptness
The tv remote didnt work and was only fixed a day after it was reported The tv had more snow than the andes It took longer than 90 minutes for a milkshake to be delivered via room service
Good location for walking
Breakfast was great, laundry was easy to have done, staff very friendly. Location was close to tourist locations (the Company Gardens, museums, St George's Cathedral).
Nice location... but the rooms are very small
Hotel is in a good location in the city, close to long street and Kloof Nek. The rooms are very small and the furnishings are now getting dated. The bathroom is part of the room with the washbasin and the shower being in the room, which isnt great. The pool area is very small, so not great if you want to relax around the pool. I stayed here in December which was very busy, it took around 15 minutes each morning to get a cup of coffee at breakfast, there wasnt a coffee station to help yourself, you had to order from the staff, who were extremely busy. One morning had to wait 10 minutes to get cutlery as there was no clean cutlery on the tables. Overall I found this hotel expensive for the facilities and service.
Friendly staff, close to city spots and only 10mins from the waterfront.
Great location, poor hotel
The hotel is well situated but the noise level inside is unbearable. The music is pumping so loudly that you can't even hear what the receptionist is saying. The sound is muffled in the rooms but I was awoken very, very early by the cleaners who were standing right outside our door chatting and laughing loudly. Great location but too noisy and the hotel an overhaul. (The swimming pool was absolutely disgusting.)
the hotel was excellent the welcoming was good
the only problem is that I forgot the black bag Mmimos paper bag which two hand bags in it, one is new. I tried to call with no luck. they always promised to comeback to me, still waiting
Beware if have more than one continous booking!
Irritating that despite telling reception that had multi bookings running one immediately after the other due to extension of original booking being required, at the end of each booking, I kept getting called or visited asking when I was checking out and my room keys kept being cancelled and I had to visit reception again and again. Internet is free by 500MB vouchers. They give you a few vouchers at a time and can also be irritating if staying for a long while, as I was, to keep going to reception to get internet vouchers and separate vouchers for each device you operate. Having said that it was an OK hotel and would stay again depending on comparative price with similar premises
Very nice apartments. Problems with plumbing.
Good check in. Plumbing problems not resolved. A few of the restaurant staff quite rude. Complaints dealt with by one good manager. Check out a nightmare hotel tried to overcharge. Incorrect amount deducted from credit card overcharged by over 34,000 rands. Not amused.
pleasant and wonderful
Our overall stay at the hotel was pleasant, the room was satisfactory and beautiful and my family and I really enjoyed our stay.
Chillin' hey!
Just a few days of chilling before the hectic Easter holidays with my wife!
Good facilities, but the rooms were very small and cramped. No warnings were given about the room size.
Great Cape Town Hotel
I decided to go to Cape Town by myself. The suite I stayed in (#3) was amazing; two story lift style. The front desk staff, Alexis, was very knowledgeable, courteous, friendly and helpful. I got in late Wednesday night and Chef Ludwig made me a special gourmet salad last minute. I'd recommend this hotel to anyone I know.
Poor facilities
Small room. No bathroom. Poor lifts. Trickle only of hot water in wash basin. No globe in toilet.
What happened????
Was there in 2010 and had a fantastic stay so I decided to go back this year. Experience was awful. The service level had dropped. Staff just scream and shout all over the hotel. Waited almost an hour on 2 occasions just for an iron
Great value funky hotel superb location
Best ovation in Cape Town just moments from all the great bars and cafes of Bree St and Kloof St. Handy underground parking and loft apartments are superb value for money for the duplex split level space. Only downside is the air con was noisy!
Really let themselves down.
I've been staying at the fire and ice on and off for the last 6 years. Generally it's a great hotel but this trip was unfortunately my worst. They couldn't find my reservation. Took 15 mins to find it. They blamed Expedia. I booked a room with a patio. Didn't receive it. They blamed Expedia. Room service took an hour. Lunch at the restaurant was slow and...wait for it...they ran out of bottle water. Such a shame. Was my favourite bolt hole in Cape Town.
Great Hotel but some rooms are just too noisy
The staff was fanstastic, the location is fantastic. The only problem is getting booked into a room so close to the gym. Constantly hearing the dropping of weights was an annoyance. Also the cleaning staff slamming doors shut wasn't soothing. I really enjoyed the hotel but I can't help but think if I was placed in a better room I would have none of the above concerns. The simple fact is we were put right next to the gym. Other than that a fantastic hotel.
It was ok.
Close to bars. Walking distance of city sights.
Following England cricket team for Cape town test and then sight seeing for a further week. Hotel is close to main tourist bus office which allowed for sight seeing to both inner and outer city sights such as Table Mountain (when open), Constanta wine tasting, Hout Bay, Botanical Gardens. Within 20 minutes walk of the hotel were National Gallery, District 6 museum, Cape Castle, Slave House, and Bo Kaap museum which I also visited. The Waterfront is approx 30 minutes walk from hotel.
location...in the middle of all !!
Near all most everything ..great location
Terrible
Room wasn't ready at check in time. Upon enquiring we were given the option of a different room. We rejected and eventually got our booked room. Condition: aircons didn't work. Toilet door didn't lock. No kids channels
room service needs more attention...
first reception was very friebdly and warm.... a very pleasant hotel there was just 2 thigs. The first night we order room service we also order the full turkish milkshake and it was a classic.... we order it the day after and on the day we left and they sent us normal vinilla milkshakes that did not taste anything like on arrival. The other thing was breakfast. we order both days breakfast the first day it was supe but the following day it was horroble...it was clear we recieved breakfast that was leftovers of guest who went down to eat...half of the breakfast not even included like the yogurt, juice, bread...the presentation of the food was sooo messy I call room service they collect it I payed the R180 plus a R30 tip and never got a breakfast back or a call from a duty manager witch spell poor service for a protea hotel....but overall Fire & Ice is on fire.....
Dissatisfied!
We were extremely disappointed and thought it was a superior hotel however the rooms were very very small and cramped. There were problems with the water in some rooms and my daughter and husband had to use my room to shower. Many people were complaining. The service was not good also as they were not attended promptly. Will not go back!
Chic, sexy, vibey hotel in great location
I love this hotel - I've stayed here twice and will do so again. Scored a corner room with a large balcony with a spectacular view of Table Mountain. Request this if you can!
Fabulous

Wonderful
Our rooms & sheets were clean. Would stay there whenever we visit cape town again. From the front desk staff to the cleaning staff, everyone was excellent. We enjoyed our stay.
