Comfortable, but needs updating.
The room was comfortable & the lounge was separate, which is nice. It makes the place more spacious. The hotel needs some updating, & the bathroom needs a deep clean with bleach to eliminate some mould. When you close the bathroom window you could smell the stuffiness, which wasn't great. Other than that, a pretty comfortable stay.
Great Group Stay
Great stay for a group of us attending a nearby conference. Place was spacious, especially the loft apartments, service was friendly and breakfast great.
Mixed Feelings
I feel the room size is great. The service at reception as perfect. In terms of the bathroom, it let the experience down. The room and bathroom size is good, but the size of the shower in comparison is disappointing. The shower head is sticking out far from the wall, and the 45 degree angle of the bathroom adds almost no design feature from the room but sadly makes that bathroom layout terrible. it was a challenge showering in such a small shower. The channels on the TV was not calibrated, some channels didnt have sound. I also feel the layout of the breakfast room was disjointed and the different offerings could have been grouped together better. Overall I will stay there again, but feel more attention to detail will elevate the experience
Good value for money
Quiet, homely and beautiful hotel away from the hustles and bustles of the city. Staff are warm and caring. Rooms are the perfect size for a vacation.
Marriott is losing its customer centricity, it seems to be a global phenomenon. It has become a common observation. I have had better experiences with other hotel chains atleast in this year.

Everything was pleasant. Our book out time was 11am. We were down in the restaurant for breakfast when a housekeeper entered our room while we were downstairs for breakfast. All our belongings were still inside. Unfortunately someone helped themselves to the Lindt chocolates that my kids bought for my husband. The new stack of linen were left on the counter. I was with the understanding that the cleaning will happen after 11am, once we book out. Also the couch had a sweaty odour. We did not use the safe but the door could not close. Kindly keep in mind when the next people make a booking.
Great stay
Clean and great service.
The AC did not work. We booked a double room with a king size bed and was made to climb 5 sets of stairs to stay in an apartment with no cooling.
Good stay. A few things though...
Good stay. The hotel room (loft apartment) was comfortable, well located and well equipped. A few criticisms: Breakfast was a little repetitive/bland Was charged extra for certain utensils, but they were a random selection and a waste of money The swimming pool was green. Instead of cleaning it, the cover was just put on it.
Good Three star Hotel
The check-in took some time, however the hotel was busy. Breakfast was not too bad. Would have liked a wider selection of pastries or croissants. The toaster also needed a bit of an upgrade. Bed and linen was comfortable and our room was clean.
All excellent, no problems.
We could not go as was denied boarding the aircraft. We tried to cancel booking and couldn’t. Never got to Cape Town.
The staff was friendly at check in, but we never got the crib requested. The baby had to sleep in a king bed with his parents. It was a rough night!
Protea Dubanville - Nice
2 Night stay for a funeral in Durbanville
Lovely stay
The hotel reception staff were welcome and friendly. The rooms are lovely and spacious.
Very pleased!
I am particularly impressed with this hotel, it wasn’t the most new or clean however, all the staff were so friendly. Mr.Linda at the front desk went out of his way to sort out our reservation, hotels.com messed it up and he (Marriott) saved it. Ms. Rousse in the dining room was lovely, friendly and efficient all at the same time. Overall the room could have been a little cleaner, however all the staff (every one we encountered) were so amazing. Will stay again. For sure!
Protea hotel Durbanville absolutely brilliant and accommodating to the extreme, hotels.com not very good.
Great place to stay
Great place to stay. Very friendly and helpful staff
staff very welcoming excellent customer service
From the moment we checked in Dane made sure some one met us at the entrance took our luggage went out of his way to call and find tickets to Robben island for us I can't say enough about this place we left our safe open with a lot of money and no one touched anything. My friend forgot her passport at the hotel and the hotel staff flew to the airport to bring the passport to make sure we don't miss our flight. The best customer service I have ever probably will ever receive. Thank you!
Friendly staff and great breakfast!
Good
It was good, but breakfast menu was never changed during duration of my stay. They must also make big hot boiling water for tea or coffee instead of using small jugs.
Was fantastic will surely come back with my siblings next time..
Our stay was great. Although our apartment was not as clean as expected as the days went by. On the first day it was perfectly clean.
Spacious and relaxing
All good
Great Hotel
Great Hotel in a Great Area. We loved the Family apartment. Two Adults and 2 Kids lived there in comfort.
Protea hotel Durbanville
The room was not ready when we arrived at 14h00. There was no bottles of water or a mini bar in the room and the air con did not work properly. The coffee and milk was not replenished daily.
They did their best. It is a perfect place to be.
I am very happy that I chose Protea Hotel for our holidays. It was refreshing ,clean and a good experience in my life. Everybody was kind and helpful, not to mention their breakfast. Everything was just perfect. Thank to everyone.
A little disappointing maybe....
No globe in the bedside table and allthough reported was not attended to! Why do Protea build a Hotel without a lift? Quality of the room coffee.....Ricofee in an upmarket Hotel? nonono
Not value for money
Reception staff were excellent and extremely helpful. Hotel was noisy and loud music played in the corridors. Room was spacious but was well used. Towels were hard and had zero fluff on them. Breakfast area was dark and dated. Food quality was solid. In terms of price for facilities; this is NOT a value for money hotel.
Business Trip to Cape Town
Business Tip to Cape Town. The Hotel is great located for my needs. Unfortunately first morning there was no hot water, staff tried though to sort the problem out, which they did, but too late in the morning so only could shower cold. Overall a good hotel, value for money.
Great and comfy stay:-)
Me and my family had a great time at this hotel, we will definitely be coming back here, staff was very helpful and lovely.
Comfortable hotel, one gripe!
Nice hotel, but the blinds rather than curtains prevent any sort of sleep in with far too much light in the room. Such a shame as it would be the deciding factor in staying again.
the hotel gets 9 of 10
staff very friendly, any problems quickly solved
Nice hotel in Durbanville area
Modern, clean, well equipped with spacious rooms. Friendly staff. On the more expensive side though. I chose the hotel because it was closest to a conference venue.
Work Stay.
it was fine.
Great value for money
Overall a good experience with friendly staff. Felt safe at all times. Very good value for money. Airconditioners in rooms need to be replaced though as they are still the floormounted dial type and are very noisy. But had a great stay overall! Will definately return.
Beautiful, comforting Cape stay
The service was impeccable, and food was great too. Rooms are nice and tidy - you care for your visitors, which is nice. Thank you
Great Service
Great value for money, Good Location for Business Travellers
Located in quiet area. Very close to Bellville and Tygervalley (incl shopping mall). Ideal apartment for families. Spacious. Good breakfast selection. Only two negatives was that there was no floor towel and there were glazed tiles in the bathroom, which could be a slipping hazard. Water pressure was low and coupled with low flow showerheads, this was not ideal for a nice warm shower.
Fantastic Service
Friendly and helpful staff, very accommodating.
extremely friendly staff
ideal location for my purpose. welcomed on arrival by manager,Mynhardt. never had that before.
Great hotel!
This is a pleasant, clean, safe, attractive and well-appointed hotel on the outskirts of Cape Town, approximately 25 minutes drive to the centre. Spacious rooms, comfortable beds, friendly service by helpful staff, and good food in the restaurant. Breakfasts were impressive - with a choice of crispy bacon in addition to the usual soggy fat-dripping variety. The swimming pool was more of a pond than a pool, but nevertheless clean and refreshing. Good conference facilities as well.
Very quiet neigbourhood and countryside.
We stayed one night. Large, well equiped room. Our room had only mildly warm water which we reported on departure. Will definitely return and reccommend.
close to family
Service was excellent - only disappointment was that the accommodation was in need to repair
Close to major routes, shopping & interest areas
Well equipped clean comfortable room with good facilities and pleasant service orientated personnel. Well maintained hotel. Enjoyed our short stay
Nice hotel
Very nice hotel, spacious, comfortable and clean room with new furniture, friendly staff, amazing swimming pool area, good breakfast. The downside is that the hotel is far from the city centre and there are no shops close-by.
Nice Stay, thin walls
We stayed here for 2 nights and hired a conference room which was very well laid out. Only complaint, the walls are thin and you can hear the phone ring in the room next to you etc.
Perfect for an overnight stay. Well located and super friendly staff. General hallways and guest areas would benefit from a deep clean.
