great
Stayed here for many years we have no complaints, the room was fine, the food etc we are happy the manager down to the launderette staff are all fantastic. Thanks again
It is probabily one of the nicer properties in Blantyre, nevertheless the rooms are outdated and there is mold in the shower. The restaurant offered limited vegetarian options. The hotel has a nice garden and a decent gym.
Nice hotel and reasonable price
Great experience
Great place to stay
Must stay!
Beautiful hotel in the heart of Blantyre. Only stayed one night on business but I 100% recommend it. Room service (most delicious Chambo) was quick, WiFi was fast, breakfast was delicious and the staff were attentive. Reception even helped me charge my phone!!
Happy Repeat Visitor
Enjoyed my 5th stay at the hotel spread over several years (business). Good location. As always the hotel is elegant & clean - of a high standard. Staff always friendly & helpful. A pleasure to stay here. Lovely internal garden is a good detox. New gym equipment add to experience. Large number of foreigners stay here. Only choice in Blantyre from what I have seen Planning my next visit
It is a nice place with welcoming and caring staff, clean and comfortable rooms, and beautiful grounds
My stay at the Protea Hotel by Marriott Blantyre Ryalls was amazing! Was greeted with a complimentary glass of cold drink st heck-in. That was a nice gesture especially as it was 32 degrees outside! The reception staff were very welcoming. And, nothing was too much trouble. The room was good - had air-con, fridge & coffee & tea making facilities with daily replenishments. There is adequate parking for guests. The grounds are well maintained with beautiful garden. Partook of my meals in the hotel restaurant. Good selection of dishes at breakfast and well as a varied menu for dinner which included traditional cuisine. The hotel is in town, so one can practically walk to most places around town. All in all, I loved my stay at this hotel and will definitely stay here again!
Repeat customer.
I stay here for a few days every year. Comfortable and clean with excellent customer service. Good quality and plentiful breakfast and dinner buffets.
Great place
This is a very great place to stay in every respect and the only place I would stay if I ever returned to Blantyre. The staff, on a several occasions, went beyond the call of duty, including walking me to a gallery I wished to visit, rather than just giving me directions. Very close to many grocery stores and fantastic restaurants.
Best hotel in Blantyre.
Room doors not closing easily, very poor breakfast with little amounts that finishes quickly and no replenishment. TVs not functioning sometimes.
Great hotel
Clean, with friendly staff.
Great staff with good service
The environment is clean. The internet was a little bit slow
I love the gardens!
Clean beddings every day was refreshing! Staff are friendly, polite and always ready to help. Food is second to none, room was comfortable and always cleaned, fresh water every morning. The grounds are beautiful, serene garden, chilled pool, courtyard ambience great! The only thing I could fault was staff chit chat at late breakfast hours, was quite distracting and they shouldn't chit chat like that, it's unprofessional, but breakfast peak periods, there was no noise. All in all, Ryalls is always a great experience. Will most definitely book again next visit to Malawi.
Always a pleasant stay at Ryalls. Staff very friendly and food is excellent!!!!
Familiar favourite
Always a good welcome at this well run and comfortable hotel
Great place!!! Clean and staff very friendly! Was there over two weeks for work and had to cancel last night because of a flight cancellation. They were amenable to refunding my money without a problem and also helped me find a hotel in Lilongwe
Regular hotel, nothing special
Ryalls is just a regular hotel with a relatively high price. For some personal experience, some of the lodges are nicer.
Fabulous
Amazing again, and again... :-) Small note for the room maintenance.

Well trained staff. Comfy feel. Good food.
Friendly staff, grill 21 is excelkent. Staff was helpfull, granted late check out until 15.00...
Confortable, silent, excellent food taste. Very poor WiFi for business guests, low speed and unstable.
I was really pleased with the attentive and gracious staff service.
The elevator was broken for the whole stay, despite having three rooms, they insisted on charging me for breakfast (in a very surly way), despite it being included with my room - rooms are the same price for 2 people or 1, and we were 2. I have been staying here for years and have never been disappointed... until now. It is no longer what it used to be. The hotel has gotten shabby over the years and needs to be redone. Even 21 Grill seems to have lost its luster - no specials or music on a Friday night. I clearly have to find a new place to stay in Blantyre.
Norfolk boy in Blantyre
Property tired and needs refresh. Price way too high. Service fine
The hotel has grear ambience. It could do with a bit more space in the rooms but its mere quibble.
Nice place to stay.
Very nice hotel. Quiet and clean. Good food in restaurant.
Staff wonderful , dining options nice third floor rooms seems worn out and dirtier.
Appeared to be one of the nicest hotels in Blantyre.
Pleasing stay with good food. Very helpful staff as well.
Very clean, lovely staff especially at reception - great service - the lovely lady in housekeeping did an excellent sewing repair on my shirt ...thank you Protea was really nice to stay there hope to come back again
Great place to stay
I love staying at the Ryalls hotel, a first world hotel in a 3rd world. The Buffet Dinner is always, good and the rooms, although a little small are very comfortable and everything works well. An efficiently run hotel
A Great Stay
This is a very nice hotel; and the staff is exceptionally good! The food and service is simply wonderful. Will stay here on my next trip a year from now.
Very good stay. Thank you!
Welcome returns
Always welcoming, friendly reception, comfortable rooms, decent WiFi, excellent food selection. First choice in Blantyre every time.
Perfectly fine business hotel
Overall just fine, get a room facing the garden if you can, otherwise you're looking at a parking lot. My room the first night didn't have functioning a/c, someone came and looked at it and then never came back and I was too tired after I got back from dinner to complain so had a very uncomfortable night. I got moved to another room the next night and that was much better.
Business trip
Nice hotel. Decent food.
Great location great service very safe area great food
Comfortable, shame about the bathroom facilities.
The staff were certainly more friendly and obliging than generally found in this area but some not quite up to International Marriott standard. There seems little scope for anticipating need, requiring the guests to ask questions (where is the breakfast? is it all self service? where is the coffee? etc) Sometimes the answers are not accurate either! I was particularly disappointed not to be able to have a hot shower. When I reported this on checkout I was not offered an alternative even though the staff asked what time I was leaving for the airport. I am quite capable of operating a shower and I even checked the basin tap to see if it ran hot there but it didn't.
Manger and supervisor not helpful
I got to the a place and the temperature was very low .. I told them that the room was very cold and the heat was not working .Also the hot water was not working . The send some one to check and they have to fix the heat from the roof and the hot water need to run for 30 mins first . I was told that they will go to the roof to fix it .after an hour called they Said the worker went home .I spoke to the manage about taking one night amount off the bill he said Expedia have to do it . I got so sick because of the cold room after traveling 23 hours to malawi. The has not even responded to me up to now .
Good Hotel close to the city centre
Good experience all in all. The staff are very friendly and helpful
Nice stay
Protea Ryalls is the best hotel in Blantyre. It is always a pleasure to stay here.
Near perfect
Given alternatives in Blantyre, my stay was near perfect. The hotel staff were wonderful. Breakfast had everything I could have hoped for, including filter or french press coffee, eggs cooked-to-order, fruit of many kinds, a variety of breads, and I could go on and on. Up-to-date equipment in the gym, available at any time and well maintained. Everything functional in the beautifully decorated rooms. Evening music Friday through Sunday. Good internet and cable TV. I does fall down on business services, which keeps irregular hours and needs to better maintain their copier. The pool area wasn't really inviting, but the gardens were very nice. It's easily, easily the very best in town. Unfortunately, it's above the per diem rate for most international organizations, which requires paying a portion of the room rate out-of-pocket. But worth it.
Great Service Hotel, with very helpful staff !
Great Service Hotel, with very helpful staff. The restaurants services and quality are really outstanding, with very reasonable prices. It's not the cheapest Hotel in Town, but it has a Good Cost-Benefit level and, not being a luxurious hotel it has what you expect from a 4 star, working properly, well managed and with all the necessary services you need.
