We had the quadruple room. It is spacious and the beds are very comfortable. Breakfast is wonderful. Staff are really friendly.
Very nice staff
Very clean, comfortable hotel with a super polite and helpful staff
Porta de Castro was a wonderful stay. The only thing is if you want quiet, the street it is located on is busy and quite a bit of honking. Didn’t bother me, popped in some ear buds at night. The breakfast and staff were amazing!!! I felt very welcomed and the staff helped me with any questions, plus lots of suggestions on what to do in the areas. Very convenient to walk to almost any place, including the train station.
Property didn't look anything like its pictures. Staff very friendly and knowledgeable but would not recommend this hotel unless your looking for an alternate to a hostel.
Well-located hotel featuring an enormous breakfast and lovely welcoming treats as well. Staff was friendly and responsive.
Great location with really kind & helpful staff! The building is old & beautiful with a great style. Since it’s old it’s not soundproof but the other guests were quiet.
Great little hotel. Staff is very nice.
Breakfast was sumptuous. Staff was super nice. Market right down the street was unreal.
What a breakfast
The hotel was brilliant. They welcomed us with a little snack and a drink. Breakfast was out of this world. Staff were very pleasant and very helpful. Could not have asked for more. Well done you guys. A lovely hotel very bright and well presented. The only slight downside is the location is a little dirty. However it is close to the attractions like the cathedral i would not walk back in the middle of the night. Thoroughly enjoyed my stay.
Excelent staff!
A lovely little hidden gem that my husband and I had the pleasure of staying for the last 4 days. The hotel is walkable distance to lots of the tourist attractions and the train station. The staff are fantastic, and seem to really care about making your experience as enjoyable as possible. Everything from booking taxis and table reservations. They are on hand to help. Breakfast is in abundance with so much of their locally sourced items like their pie and canoli. And it's yummy! The beds are very comfortable and the hotel is very funky and unique. There is a nice touch of a welcome basket and the self service water tap. There are some parts of the building that are original behind glass, that absolutely adds to the character. The spa is lovely and the massages are fantastic. I highly recommend getting one. You can really feel that the owners heart has gone into this building. It's a truly lovely hotel that I would return to over and over again. Thank you for a fantastic stay
Very centrally located. This is a very stylish boutique hotel with very interesting and original interior design features. In spite of being really central in a densely populated part of Palermo there was an attractive small outdoor swimming pool and parking for a car. All the staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful. The breakfasts were incredibly generous and tasty and they even provided a 'doggy bag' to take some of the food away for a picnic lunch.
Modern place tucked into the old part of the city. Very convenient to main sites and buslting market.
Lovely; a little dated, but that said, wonderful staff and great location.
This is a wonderful place to stay. I traveled alone and everyone was very helpful. The property is beautiful—it was once a church and still has some of the original beautiful details. The staff are all terrific—a special shout-out to Romina who welcomed me and to Rosanna for seeing me off. I highly recommend Porta di Castro.
The staff at this small hotel make the stay worthwhile. Every member of the team was delightful and helpful. The property itself is old, worn and expensive for what is offered. Our room had no comfortable chair and the tiny desk was covered with a TV and other stuff so it wasn't a workable work space. The rooms look much nicer than they are. The place needs a makeover. But keep every staff member!
Great Staff, Great Location!
Beautiful boutique B&B. Very good staff! Parking is easy! Walking distance to historic center. I highly recommend this B&B.
We stayed 4 nights. The hotel and our stay here was incredible! Alessandro, his staff and service was awesome! Hotel is beautiful, rooms comfortable, breakfast amazing. Pool and pool area a bonus. The area is very convenient, close to everything yet quiet. Will definitely stay here again!!!!! ❤️❤️❤️
The staff is very accommodating. They greet you with desserts and coffee on arrival. They will assist you with parking your car. They have a wonderful breakfast.
Cool artsy hotel
Really enjoyed our stay. Owner, hosts, service and breakfasts were great. Room very comfortable. Hotel decor is very eclectic/bohemian. Location is good for those who like to walk … if new to area, difficult driving and locating hotel. Don’t recommend car rental. Really get a taste of Palermo living. Loved it ❤️❤️❤️
We LOVED staying at the Porta di Castro, very beautiful property with attention to detail. The staff were amazing, so helpful and knowledgeable and always greeted you with a smile. They made you feel like family. The property is very central to all the shops and attractions. You must try the spa its relaxing and so tranquil. The pool is prefect for a quick dip to refresh after a day of sightseeing or just to unwind, especially in the summer months. The breakfast is plentiful as well and delicious with lots of variety. Grazie Mille💚🤍❤️
We loved our stay! The breakfast was the best we had on our whole 2 week trip. The staff was very friendly and helpful and the hotel was within walking distance to many of the main attractions. They had valet underground parking that was perfect. The room was clean and they upgraded us free of charge. Overall, we had an amazing experience. I would highly recommend this hotel. We did not use the pool so I can’t comment on it.
The staff was amazing and went above and beyond to be helpful and kind. It is a very welcoming place close to the center of Palermo. Also, the air conditioning worked great and was welcome in the hot June weather.
Loved our stay here
We loved this place and are so happy we chose it. The staff are incredibly welcoming and helpful at every point. We discovered much more of Palermo due to their helpful advice. Its a great location and the pool is a real bonus
Property was very extremely interesting and the staff was amazing. Staff, food and accommodations were terrific. Palermo is bustling city and the center is short walk from the hotel. Area near hotel was a little suspect but we quickly came to enjoy our stay.
There probably aren’t enough stars for me to rate this perfect little boutique hotel . If I could rate a 20 I would . From reception the night we checked in to where Rosalea warmed us in as if we were family with homemade cannoli to Margaret who went over and above in helping us with suggestions for eating & item of AC to be quickly fixed to the array of delicacies placed in front of us for breakfast to the location of this hotel to walking distance to everything . They welcomed us as if we were the only ones in their home ( of course everyone treated the same . What a gem . It’s an artsy boutique hotel & spa . Don’t miss
Highly recommend!
Wonderful stay at this lovely hotel. Warm, welcoming and helpful staff. Delicious (and huge) breakfast. Unique decor and a perfect location walking distance to everything.
Could not sleep traffic noise so loud, people yelling, constant horn noises, motorbikes hooning, loud music coming from cars and banging noises all night. Entrance to hotel was dangerous with cars speeding up the road. Disappointing.
The hotel is perfectly located to the town centre, and just a short walk to the cathedral. Breakfast was fantastic, and staff were brilliant.
Loved this little place
Staff was so friendly and helpful with directions and restaurant advice. Amazon food at check in and breakfast. So much good food could not possibly finish it all. So interesting art and collections. Very good location to sights and restaurants. Staff so helpful with car parking assistance. Very clean and comfortable room. Enjoyed this stay very much. Nice touch with little gift at checkout. Highly recommend. Oh, and great coffee!
What to say. The team could not have been anymore welcoming. There was an issue with the booking but we were upgraded. We had to move rooms but they did all the work. Super helpful, attentive, great with tips and tricks for our visits, and the breakfast was huge! Car looked after and ready when needed (and trust me you don’t want to worry about parking in Palermo). Would recommend to anyone.
The hotel is in a very conveniently and centrally located neighborhood, which unfortunately also means all street-facing rooms are quite noisy. As far as the interior, Porta di Castro is taking ‘shabby’ chic a bit too far, with comforts and convenience frequently sacrificed for quirkiness. Breakfast is generous but impresses more through quantity than quality. Overall far too expensive for what it is.
Me and my gf had a wonderful stay! The staff was so friendly, and the breakfast was unbelievably good! The variety of breakfast foods was lovely. We had the chance to try the private spa which was the most relaxing experience ever! Thank you to all the staff and the owner! We will defo be back!
Amazing staff and Hotel
The staff are over the top helpful, friendly, kind, engaging, and do what they can to make your stay more comfortable. We came in early on the train. They took our bags before room was ready (they were waiting on us in our room by time we came back), and had an amazing breakfast for us (that same morning - which they didn't have to do) - as well as local map, and information for us upon arrival (and plenty of literature/travel books if interested)! They gave us a complimentary upgrade (for a room that was quiet/bigger - lovely), and accommodated our request for wine glasses for nighttime. There is an elevator even (which is a huge plus after a long day on our feet)! We even asked (and they arranged) a personal driver for a day to visit the ruins at Segesta - which was so much better/more convenient than the other trip options available on travel sites. Went way above and beyond what we expected. Would definitely stay again.
close to train station and all the people who go with it.
It is a very nice establishment in a central location. Extremely kind and helpful staff. Good breakfast. The owner is very friendly and attentive to guests' requests.
Bikes over the beds
If you like minimalism and sterile hotels this is not for you. Eclectic decor, interesting art and a Cuban feel greets you. The staff were really friendly and helpful and breakfast is exceptional. Good location for exploring but not the quietest area.
Great location
Very good location close to everything. It is an artistic B&B. I found the service friendly and helpful. As commented often the breakfast was over the top.
Wonderful
The rooms were very small and felt dirty and unkept. The air conditioner leaked water on the floor. This property did not live up to the ratings.
Location and personnal is amazing
Quaint and interesting hotel in central area. Good room, friendly, helpful staff and excellent breakfast
The staff is absolutely wonderful!! We arrived early, room was not yet ready, and we were immediately presented with the most magnificent breakfast and cappuccino as well as great local information in order to plan our day.
We had a "junior suite with balcony". It did have a balcony. There was toilet paper in the bathroom. But no toilet paper holder so you had to take it in your hand. The room had a/c as described but it dripped water in our faces. Fortunately we carry duct tape and we were able to tape a towel over it. There was a mini fridge as described. But when we entered our room two sketchy guys followed us and replaced the fridge. They did not remove the plastic or plug it in. The "suite" was one very small room plus the bath. We have no idea why it is a suite and the price we paid was comparable to a suite at a real hotel. When we checked in the "owner" was not there so the place was short staffed. We were told to sit in the breakfast room and enjoy a treat. We had no idea how long it would be and we weren't told. We were only told the owner wasn't there and they were very busy. It was 5pm and we were hot and wanted a shower. The reviews that brought us here weren't all wrong. The place is funky and well located. Alessandro is nice and the breakfast is great. But I wouldn't expect a four star hotel or a reasonable rate. Come prepared for an experience and don't expect anything.
Great hotel. Staff was very friendly and helpful. They were finishing some construction throughout the hotel during our stay but it did not have a major impact on the quality of our stay. Breakfast was fantastic. Staff provided map and city recommendations at check in. Complimentary water and a couple alcoholic beverages were also provided. Room had air conditioning but it was not very strong and did not cool the loft area of our room. Overall wonderful hotel would absolutely stay there again.
I would pass on this.
Check in staff very lackadaisical, place not very clean or well/maintained. Overall, I would pass. However, check out staff and breakfast very good.
Definitely recommended 👍
Friendly and welcoming hotel. Receptionist offered coffee on arrival and a map with her suggestions for places to visit. Charming building and spacious room. Breakfast was first class. Hotel also arranged for a taxi to the airport.
Although not the most wheelchair friendly place to stay the staff were so helpful in accommodating us. Amazing breakfast. Excellent customer service. Great location, easy walking distance to everything. Would highly recommend this place and will most definitely come back.
Friendly, helpful, awesome.
The staff was friendly and helpful, helping us get a taxi, and a seat for a late dinner the day we came in. Breakfast was incredible, delicious, plentiful. I would definitely stay here again. The location was great as well, very close to everything we wanted to see in Palermo.
Porta di Castro B&B was overall wonderful! The breakfast spread cannot be beat. It is a feast every morning! The staff at breakfast were always so friendly and attentive. The inside of the hotel is very charming and unique. Lots of beautiful brick, paintings, and statues that really added a lot of character. The owner kindly upgraded our room free of charge. Just steps away from some of the big landmarks in the city. Great location! 10/10 recommend staying here if you visit Palermo.
My stay here was amazing, the staff were incredible. Very knowledgeable, great recommendations and could not to do enough to help. I very much recommend staying here you will absolutely love it. Also P.S - Breakfast is a winner.
Very hospitable staff very welcoming, lovely atmosphere and they went over and above to make our stay as comfortable as possible
The staff was very friendly and helpful. The breakfast was over the top amazing! We’ve never had a more delicious breakfast anywhere. We were within easy walking distance of many major attractions, especially the palace and cathedral. Parking is difficult, but Alessandro will park your car to a safe enclosure for you.
Very friendly staff
Loved it!
Lovely hotel, located near the Cathedral and a short walk to the Quattro Canti. The staff are very friendly and professional. Breakfast is a literal feast! You are not meant to eat it all, but you will eat well and will only need a light lunch. I drove and they were able to park my car overnight for a reasonable price. I highly recommend Porta di Castro.
Our stay was nothing short of amazing. The helpful staff at the main entrance guided us to sites, restaurants, etc. The staff is friendly. The B&B is historic/chic/eclectic. I love the glass floors to see the beautiful Arabic archeologic findings below the hotel. The breakfast each morning was fabulous. So much food ... everything was delicious!!! Thank you all so much!
Quirky Sicilian B & B
We loved this quirky B & B. The staff was so lovely and beyond helpful. The property was well maintained and so rich in history. We were able to secure a driver and tour guide, (thanks to Alessandro, the owner) to take us to a nearby village, where our paternal grandfather was born in 1905. We also walked to shopping, the seaport and other beautiful sights!
Hidden Gem
I will stay there again next time. Staff is incredibly helpful. The breakfast they prepare every morning is superb. I love the quirky styling of the place. And it's walking distance to so many sites if interest.
Staff were beyond helpful and friendly. The owner treated us like relatives, couldn't ask for more.
Hidden jem, nice location.
Very nice for first time in Palermo. Great staff, great location. I would go back.
Small quirky room with a lovely terrace. The bed was comfy, the bathroom clean and the breakfasts amazing!
This is a very different and interesting B&B. Renovated 600 year old church with many items preserved within the property. Our junior suite with balcony was perfect for us. Always nice to have a little extra room especially with the very hot weather to siesta in the afternoon. The property is in a neighborhood so there was street noise at all hours, it was very loud at times with fireworks around midnight and motor bikes constantly zooming up and down. But you certainly get a feel for day to day life in Palermo. The breakfast was very good, nice fresh fruit, wonderful pastries and unlimited cappuccino and espresso. Alessandro is an amazing host and even gifted us each a tile from this very beautiful structure. We would highly recommend if you want an authentic experience.
Great location
Hotel was wonderful. In the centre of everything, easy to walk to all the sites. Staff was very helpful and friendly
Great little B&B and the staff are excellent. A particular thank you to Roberta and Mansoor for thier kind welcome and hospitality. We hope to visit again soon.
Beautiful hotel
Fantastic hotel.location is very good and hotel staff very helpful and cheerful.
Comfortable, attractively furnished, fabulous breakfast, great position, very friendly helpful staff
I stayed for a week to visit Palermo and the surrounding areas.
Good, but confirm arrival
Nobody home on a Sunday afternoon. Phone did not answer. Got a neighbour to phone for the caretaker, nice bengali guy who spoke some english. Nobody around at check out. Otherwise ok.
cannot thank enough to Alessandro!
Beautiful hotel in Palermo. Close to all attractions. Very clean and modern. Love it!!! Since we got there in the morning, the owner welcomed us with coffee and pastries, it was very nice of him.
Our stay was outstanding! The owner is wonderful and so are his staff members. Friendly, and always willing to help.
Super friendly, convenient, and clean
The rooms are comfortable and very clean. The mattress felt a little worn but it was fine. Unique design. The owner was kind enough to automatically give us an upgrade. The owner and staff are beyond friendly and helpful! Would totally stay there again!
Wow. This is a beautifully decorated modern hotel in a classic Palermo building next to the Palazzo My wife and I visited from Miami and were reminded of the famed Art Deco style of hotels on South Beach. The place is cozy and warm with a staff to match. These were some of the most amazing people we met in all of Sicily. Alessandro, the owner and Dallia were so genuine and nice and took tremendous care of us. They and the whole staff made our stay in Palermo so so so great. The room was very nice and comfortable with a small porch. It was studio style with beautiful art and decorations and all the amenities we needed, including a fridge. The continental breakfast is so delicious, with fresh fruits and pastries, coffee and juice. They also lent us extra towels for the day we visited the beach and even gifted us a tile from the building as a souvenir. I cannot say enough about this place. We can not wait to return one day soon.
Tucked away treasure
We stayed for three nights in one of the junior suites. Room was amazing. Comfortable bed, fantastic decoration, all the essential amenities. Amazing service and treatment from Alessandro and the rest of the staff.
Easy check-in. staff very helpful. Lady at reception gave us all information.
This is a unique property that is a feast for the eyes. It’s A 500 year-old building that has been expertly restored to incorporate the past while having all modern conveniences. The breakfast is superb and the staff is friendly, helpful, and makes one feel as if they are part of the family. It should be classified as a boutique hotel. I give it the highest rating possible.
Perfect stay!
The staff could not have been more friendly or helpful. A delightful stay and I would certainly return.
Great boutique hotel. Fine staff and eclectic rooms make for a fun experience
charming little place with staff that couldn't have been nicer. I'd definitely stay or recommend it to people. nice breakfast too.
Charming surprise!
I really loved this little hotel. Don't be put off by the outside; it's really a charming place to call home. Breakfasts are unbelievable! They wait on you like you were royalty. I loved the dog in the lobby who made friends with anyone who welcomed it, but left alone those who didn't. The only reason I graded them down on comfort is that I wanted more hot water in the shower. Otherwise, it was great!
Unique, eclectic boutique hotel very near the historic district of Palermo with a very helpful, kind owner and staff, as well as an abundant, delicious breakfast and a friendly dog (Ciro).
Great location, helpful staff. Forget the car in Palermo as parking is a major issue.
Rooms Need reburbishments
The pictures are quite deceptive. The reception area was good however the rooms were quite run down. The bed was extremely uncomfortable, shaky and on the verge of breaking. The staff was extremely helpful and nice. So 10/10 for the staff.
Great Stay at Porta di Castro in Palermo
Alessandro is a great host. We arrived very late at night and he welcomed us with a smile. The hotel is very well decorated and the breakfast was great
Superb! Such a fun experience of a stay.
What an amazing stay we had from the moment we arrived to our shuttle to the airport! The service was so friendly and helpful. The room and lobby so whimsical and tasteful. And the breakfast was superb. We recommend this stay 110%!
Awesome staff and owner and we loved the location. Room was pretty small but had all that one needed and a cute look-out balcony on the street below. Safe and super artsy.
Little gem hidden in the chaos of downtown Palermo
Fabulous B&B with very friendly and helpful staff. Breakfast was served at the table and was a feast of fresh fruit salad, yoghurt, selection of pastries, cheese and ham toastie, cake, fresh juice and coffee.
This is a character B&B steps away from the old town. It used to be a church. The first night they put us in the attic. When we complained about the room being too small and half of it too low, the owner switched us to the nicest room on the main floor the next day. It had very unique and interesting decorations. Breakfast was fantastic. It came in very large portion and very fresh. The owners were very friendly.
Amazing!
Absolutely amazing stay here! The staff were very kind and welcoming. They had great local knowledge and recommendations. They recommended several really cool local restaurants that we loved. The location is perfect for exploring the city, but was still quiet at night. The room was very clean and well sized for three people and it never felt like we were too cramped. The breakfast had the most amazing espresso and croissants as well as really good fresh fruit.
The location is perfect for walking around the old town, just 1 block from Palazzo dei Normanni. The parking facility makes it even better. The room we stayed in was tiny but perfectly fitted, clean, and quiet. The European breakfast was excellent and plentiful. The service was super friendly: the owner came and rescue us from a nearby piazza when we lost our way on arrival!
I’ll come back in a bit
Great location and perfect host. The breakfast was Awesome
Charming Porta di Castro
Prior to a tour I stayed two nights. Alessandro was so friendly and helpful.
Would definitely return!
We went for our 11yr anniversary, whilst touring Sicily. It was difficult to find by car, but when we did arrive, we were pleasantly surprised. Set inside an old chapel, then converted to a bakery before becoming the B&B. We upgraded our room to a Junior Suite, which had two balconies, a huge bathroom and queen size bed, along with a Piaggio Scooter, which seemed to be a theme throughout the B&B. Breakfast the following morning was really good, with fresh warm pastries, fruits salad, toasted sandwiches, smoothies and coffee, all for €5.
Our stay here was an absolute joy. Alessandro, the owner, and his staff just couldn't do enough to make us comfortable and happy. We asked for a room change after one night - absolutely fine. The place is fascinating - a lot of modern touches like the glass ceiling in the lobby but also full of wonderful antique pieces. We loved the piece of Roman column in our shower!
A truly generous host!
Palermo was part of our honeymoon tour and Alessandro and Claudia made our stay great! The bnb is easy to miss when you arrive, but once you find it the place is beautiful inside! Staff (Claudia) spoke perfect English and was exceptionally helpful! Her restaurant and hiking recommendations made our trip! Alessandro was an amazing host and he prepares a generous breakfast that was a great way to start the day! Thank you!
Very attentive and friendly service. Great location. Interesting and eclectic decor. A wonderful place with wonderful people.
Handy to sites, but ground floor rooms can be a bit noisy
Very good value!
Fantastic stay overall. Wonderful service!
Absolutely the best in Palermo
Our stay here was absolutely fantastic . Perfect location and the staff went above and beyond for any of our needs. We were a bit late for breakfast after a night out and Palermo and we were greeted with a full breakfast just for us. The hotel itself is absolutely stunning the design and decorations are really one of a kind. This is one of my favorite places I have stayed in Europe and have been all over. Porta Castro has by far 100% the most comfortable beds I have ever slept on in Europe and I've stayed in over 40 hotels the last five years. Thank you to the staff for making our stay so amazing , already planning another stay next week!! If I could give them 10 stars I would. Do yourself a favor and book here, you won't regret it I guarantee it. I never leave reviews this is actually my first one as I was so impressed !!

Eccentric, lovely decor. Close as you wish to the centre. Very helpful and welcoming staff. Too much food for breakfast!
