Nice location, well equipped kitchen, very spacious and heated bathroom floor. Easy access to underground parkdale and luggage trolley available.
Typically I would rate a LOT higher as we have visited several time prior. This visit fell way below par. Specifically stay in rooms with hot tubs as it allows much needed relaxation. The hot tub was a lovely shade of green that only could be found in Oz. This must have been a known issue as a person came to drain it on Saturday. This should have been completed prior to a guests stay. This even completely disrupted our day as we have to wait around 2.5 hours waiting for the tech to complete throwing our plans for the day out the window. Long and short this was a substandard condition has left a foul taste in our mouths and will be apprehensive on returning.
Our room was dirty. There was no housekeeping at all the entire time we were there. No one would answer the front desk phone. It was like a ghost town. On top of that there were lights out in the room that didn’t work. Overall, it was just a horrible experience.
the elevator didn't work the two days we were there. not good as my elderly parents had a hard time walking the stairs with suitcases
It was a beautiful property, just very annoyed elevators were not working and we were not informed. It was a lot of stuff to haul to tge third floor using stairs
The good, this proper is beautiful. It was clean and had everything we needed. It had a beautiful view of the mountains and the private hot tub was a nice touch. The bad, for starters there was not one staff member manning this hotel. When we arrived we had to proceed to a different hotel to check in and get our keys. We there learned that their is just one front desk person for the four properties and only available from 8 am to 6pm. There were no staff to assist at the property we were staying which brings me to the second problem. We got locked out of our room twice and the parking garage. Having to stand in the cold while waiting to reach someone on the emergency line took about 30 mins. Then we had to wait for someone to come to the property. This did not sit well as it was raining and cold. Second The security if there was an issue or emergency in the hotel, again there was not one staff member to help. This would take about an hour for someone to reach them and for them to arrive. Third internet did not work. It was not that it was poor. It simply did not work. Fourth, the elevators did not work. We had to climb four flights of stairs with bags, groceries etc. Fifth we requested clean towels on our second day. We never received them. Lastly expedia required a half payment deposit for the booking. However when we checked out the full amount for the two nights was charged to my account and I was told that i would need to check into things with my bank. Not recommended.
I like the location. The kitchen could do with more cooking equipment and utensils as we needed to cook due to no other dining options being open. There wasno wifi router in the room so we weren't able to connect.
Weekend Getaway
Really nice
Very limited services available. Most services were shut down except on weekends.
We are doing a Canada holiday with the intention of staying at Jasper - so after the wild fire had to change plans, so the Pallister Lodge was not in the original plan, but on seeing they had a room free we just booked, as everyone else was also making alternative arrangements. So glad we did. Room was beautiful, bed was comfy and amenities perfect. We found out about Boo the Bear when booking so also got to meet him, and lunch at the Eagle Eye was yummy. All in all, had a fab time - just wish we could have stayed longer!
The rooms were very nice and clean. They had smart tv’s which would easily hook up to streaming services. The hot tub was in very good condition. The only things I would complain about was the water pressure in the showers were very low, I understand why they do that, to conserve water. But it is very hard to feel clean with no water pressure. Also there was very little parking.
Solid room with everything needed for my 4-night stay in Golden. Except for the tub faucet strangely not staying open, everything was great!
Got the best views
Room was clean had laundry in room. Being off season there us not a lot of food options. Buy food in town.
Place was ok … and if you look at other ratings by me I do not complain but this place is not worth the $400 a night. - Charged $180 for 5th person and not even 1 towel per person provided or bedding for pull out couch. There were no extra sheets for the hide a bed. Only two blankets and pillows. - Internet would not connect called from staff and no one came to next day and said couldn’t help as it’s because all routers are called same thing so I could not connect the whole stay. When travelling with teens after long days of hiking was not great to not have internet for kids. - bbq was out of propane. Had to change bottles and clean lines…took us over half hour to work on bbq do we could cook dinner. - says stocked kitchen but no baking dish … but there was 2 dirty cookie sheets in cupboard we did utilize. There were dishes, utensils and coffee pot. - place was decently clean aside from mounds of dust on high ledges and musty smell. Rooms are not freshened up before you arrive and assuming not used all the time. And note … no AC and only 1 fan … not great place for summer!
For the price I did not think much of the facility. The under ground parking was wet all the time and our rooms smelled badly and the hot tub was old. The property looked old as well.
Room was clean, no ac, clearer instructions from staff would have been better. Not sure if hot tub was even working. Just spent a night for the bed which was great. All in all, not disappointed. Beautiful views, clean room, comfy bed.
We stayed in the 2 bedroom suite with bathtub. The best part about our trip was certainly the hot tub. The property is located at the base of the ski hill, which makes it quiet and peaceful at night. The knock against the place is the cleanliness. It dint seem like it was swept well. We stayed there for 4 days (2 adults and 2 kids) and were provided with only 4 towels. Wi-fi was hit and miss at best. Customer service is responsive. The shower was plugged, but customer service responded well, they had a plumber next morning to fix.
It was quiet during summer season which made it a perfect place to stay if you like staying out of the city boundaries.
Thought it would be in better condition and needed updating.
I’d read a few bad reviews but so glad I went ahead with my stay. Everything was great and would definitely stay again.
Great spot
Great slope-side accommodations at Kicking Horse.
Every thing was available in the room except toothpaste… plzz don’t forget to bring after bite … cz too much mosquito around property.
Nice place but annoying to check in at a separate building. No air conditioning so it was uncomfortable and hard to sleep in the heat wave
The property is outside Golden which is good and it is easy to access the Parks.
Stay at Palliser
The hotel was quite nice. The staff was lovely. I only wish that the phone at the front desk was answered more often. Also, there is no air conditioning.
Amazing rooms but the wifi didn’t work, the dishwasher didn’t work and no ac.
Nice to be able to walk around and the beauty of the mountains
There was no air conditioning and the patio door had no screen on it so it was so hard to cool the room without getting eaten by mosquitoes. There was only one restaurant on the property and it closed at 9pm which wasn’t ideal. The ice maker in the building was broken. The place had the potential to be much better than it was. I’m sure in the winter, it is great.
The check in process was a breeze once we got to the correct building. Clean hotel but shocked that it doesn’t have AC - I must have missed this during booking and we happened to be here on a very hot, smoky day. It didn’t help that when we got to our suite, we discovered the patio door was left open and the suite was filled with smoke smell. Luckily, we had a fan in the room and managed to cool off the suite a little. Overalls, not a bad place at all.
I did not like that there was no A/C. Not acceptable given the rate. Also no ice machine and really no services at the Palliser Lodge. Workout room is pretty sad. bed was good.
Beautiful view and comfy bed.
Great room, beautiful view of the mountains and a very comfortable bed. Loved that the room had dishes, kettle etc. We will stay again if we are out this way again.
The room was nice. ….. but the cleanliness was terrible, we had to wash every dish by hand that we needed. The tap in the kitchen didn’t work, called maintenance staff. They didn’t know how to fix it. The dishwasher was not doing its “job”. All of the doors were unlocked to a ground floor patio. For $425 per night I expected a lot more…. Probably could have stayed at the Super 8 for a 1/4 price point and had a better stay.
Found this place by accident. When I booked I did not see that it was located approx 10kms from Golden. Signage is a little confusing for first timers but the staff were very helpful and once we were established a very grand place to stay. This was the off season I can only imagine how much nicer it would be in ski season
Nice place.
It was incredibly frustrating to check in. There is no receptionist at the Palliser Lodge and we had to drive to another building to check in and get our keys and then drive back to the Palliser Lodge. Also the parking facility is difficult to find.
Great facilities, amazing location.
Overall hotel in good condition. The blinds in our room were broken and unable to close properly. Beautiful area, nice mountain experience
Good view
The room was clean and nicely appointed. We didn't realize the building was unattended and once we got there, had to go back down the hill to the Glacier Lodge building. The staff there was helpful and was (supposedly) 24/7. The people above us and over one unit were VERY loud at around 1am. I tried calling the front desk around 2am several times with no answer. Luckily the noise ended shortly after (around 2:30). Terrible sleep before a long day of driving. I mentioned the lack of response from overnight staff on checkout; a cursory apology and no explanation given. While guests sign off specifically on noise restrictions (quiet time 10pm-7am) there seems to be no enforcement for those that ignore it. I expected better.
Love the spacious balcony with the Mountain View so much! Had our dinner everyday on the balcony. Beds are comfortable. Fan, microwave, kettle, breakfast toaster, plates and utensils are all provided. Just one thing u need to know that u need to check in/out at glacier lodge if you’re staying at palliser lodge as there’s no front desk there. This is not mentioned in the instructions provided by Expedia so it was bit confusing at the beginning . Overall is a 5-star experience and will come back for sure!
This was a super disappointing stay in June. Maybe in the winter it is better, but it felt like they advertised a lot but didn’t deliver. The bed was also the most uncomfortable I’ve ever slept in with the mattress topper. There was no AC, which is understandable, but then no screen on the windows and tons of biting bugs so no air circulating . Had to check in at a different bundling and drive to our building, but when we got there the key didn’t work. Phone and number listed in the building didn’t work to call back over so had to drive back. It was all together an awful experience.
Average room and ok for the price
Upon our arrival we checked in at the parent company resort (which looked a lot nicer) and were directed to the lodge down the road where there was no front desk or staff. The room was average but the whole building and room seemed quite dated. There was also no hot tub on the balcony as in the pictures. Those we were told were for the 2 bedroom suites which seemed to be rentals. The Telus Optik in the room was great but be prepared to bring a USB wall outlet charger for your phone as there are no USB inputs anywhere in the room. The king bed was quite big and comfortable though and the shower was quite hot which was nice. Only problem is there was no air con in the room which makes it quite hot during the summer months. Me and my partner stayed 2 nights which is more than enough to stay in Golden as there's not much to do in the town. We just did the Adventure pass (Skybridge) there which was pretty fun with all of the ziplining. Average room and good value for the price overall...
Liked: room was nice, good TV and internet. Quiet too with ample parking. Didn’t Like: check in was difficult, in a different room different building with long lines.
Beautiful property. Easy check in, gorgeous room, deck and hot tub. Highly recommend
Property is great, room outstanding. Lack of dining and minimal food opportnies aweful.
The room was well laid out and the bed was so nice and very comfortable. The kitchenette was great and the in room coffee was wonderful! We really enjoyed our stay!
It was quiet and beautiful scenery. The property could definitely use a little update.
Nice place out not shampoo are conditioner and no sugar and tv works but it’s Shaw but 3 channels about Alberta Manitoba Saskatchewan
Great place, quiet, clean and great views of the mountains
Beautiful views . Sadly , I arrived just after 5:00 pm and there were zero food options . I had to travel back down the mountain for a meal and or anything else needed to be purchased . Nothing available mid week . Also , the cleanliness of the room was to be desired . Coffee grounds / water left in the pot . Cigarette wrapper on the ground by the kitchen area , toe nail clippings out on the deck with food crumbs , table and kitchen area not wiped clean . It honestly seemed unclean except for the linens & towels , they were proper .
Excellent. We left at 7am, and tried to call the front desk to let them know we had checked out, but the mailbox was full. Would definitely stay there again
Great
Palliser Lodge in Golden, British Columbia, provides a comfortable stay for visitors to the area. The lodge is conveniently located near Kicking Horse Mountain Resort, making it a good choice for ski enthusiasts and those looking to explore the surrounding mountains. The rooms are spacious and well-equipped, offering essential amenities such as kitchen facilities, fireplaces, and balconies with decent views. While some aspects of the decor and furnishings might feel a bit dated, the overall cleanliness and functionality of the rooms make for a satisfactory stay. Overall, Palliser Lodge is a solid option for those seeking a practical and comfortable base for their adventures in Golden. While it may not offer luxury accommodations, it provides good value and proximity to key attractions in the area.
The 1 bedroom suite we stayed in was absolutely perfect. Had all the amenities we needed. We did bring our crockpot and griddle, highly recommend this if you plan on cooking soups. The bears do come up to the field in front, be aware of your surroundings. Staff was amazing, kind and communicative. Recommended some local places to eat and hike to.
We booked last year in early May ,and was not aware that nothing was open for restaurants or the gondola. We ended up having to drive down the mountain and buy all our food. The staff informed us that everything opens the long weekend. With that information ,we booked this past long weekend instead. Arrived and found nothing open again. Found out it opens at the end of May. Ended up leaving early. Be prepared with groceries.
I’ll start off with the good, the beds were comfortable and the bedding was clean. The hot tub in the suite was also very nice. Now to the bad, we booked this vacation for our 10 year wedding anniversary, upon arrival we where locked out of our room for 30 mins with our children and pet, tried calling the front desk no answer for over 12 times calling. Once we got into our room it was absolutely filthy! I have many pictures to back this up. I’m not sure if because it’s a pet friendly room it’s in this condos but I’ve never stayed anywhere this dirty I was so upset! I had to get medication from a local grocery store to control my allergies from all the dust and filth. I’ve never in my life seen a hotel in this condition. I feel like the changed the sheets for us and that was it. We had seen a cleaner 2 times in our 3 day trip and she was in those rooms for hours so I’m not sure what is happening but unfortunately we will never return.
Loved our place at the Palliser. We usually stay at the Glacier or Mountaineer but loved it here. We had our own hot tub and it was much quieter. The property was in much better shape than the mountaineer and glacier condos. We will choose Palliser next time too!
Wasn’t the best hotel I’ve stayed at. Few things could be improved but overall not to bad would stay again.
Great location for ski in, ski out stay
Great place to stay on the hill. Very reasonably priced (unlike many other options there). Very nice room with little kitchenette and comfortable bed. And it was quiet which was super important. I will be back :)
Amazing family condo at KHMR
Very comfortable and spacious condo. We had a great time. Awesome access to building hot tub - not busy, didn't have to reserve, many units have their own tub so the lodge one was not over used. Kitchen was adequately stocked, could use cutting board. In room laundry! Good beds, kids on the pullout couch was fine. Enough room to leave pullout couch extended and there are still 4 armchairs to watch a movie. Huge deck, nice even on mild winter mornings for coffee. Elevator was fast, underground parking excellent. Ours was a true ski-in to the back door. Had to walk up one small snowy hill to ski out (30 seconds). Would absolutely stay again. KHMR is a treasure.
Great property, clean, convenient, ski in/ski out, nice hot tub, spacious rooms. and quiet. Will visit again!
The room was spacious. A few maintenance issues however. We were originally in a suite but the washing machine/dryer was out of order. Also missing power cord for the DVD player(minor issue). Staff (Jess) was very accommodating and arranged another almost identical suite for us the next evening and remainder of our stay. The next suite also had a couple minor issues as well our bathroom door would not latch and the shower door hinge was separating from the shower making it difficult to open and close. Aside from the washer all minor issues however. Would definately stay again.
Rooms are great. Lots of space and amenities. Could use a little more ski locker storage. Would highly recommend for ski in ski out.
Slope side accommodation was nice. Hot tub area never had clean towels so you had to bring shower towels from your room. Hot tub is dark and difficult to read instructions etc as no light. Ski lockers were full no space so needed to leave skis in vehicle. No proper area to put on ski boots - cannot have any ski gear in room or common area. Never seen this before in a ski based hotel - frustrating
It was a nice stay and the private hot tub was a great selling feature.
Property was great and sacluded.
Good room, but online advertising should beupdated
It was good, but everything was closed. It’s the shoulder season so I do understand, but online much of the restaurants and services say they are available but are actually closed. I was there to get engaged so some of the amenities that they said online were available would have been nice. Was very clean and room was great. Staff was there when the they said they would be but didn’t answer the phone. But we’re their in person so that was good. Fire place was electric and the fake light up was broken. Wood or even gas would have been better but that’s not a big deal. Overall was great just need to update the advertising online.
Liked having hot tub. Unit needed better cleaning equipment to include more towels. Better broom - mop for wiping floor when using hot tub. Enjoyed the quiet.
Everything was great! Just wished other services at the resort was open like the gondola, etc.
Much further from town than expected. Was hoping to be closer to town, but I guess I should have been more careful in doing research. But didn't know which if the three buildings to go to when we arrived. When we figured it out, we had to drive back to get an envelope giving us instructions. Was hoping for the hot tub, only to find out that there was no lights, no towels, and no power to the jets. Bathroom fan doesn't seem to be working and when I looked at the vent, it was covered in dust.
Gorgeous property!
It is off season so the property at the ski resort is very quiet. Nothing is open but only 15 min from Golden. Beautiful scenery, room very clean, well appointed kitchen. Very nice check and helpful check in staff.
Got to see the northern lights in a private patio hottub.. Had an amazing stay!
.
No AC. No table or desk. No luggage rack or anywhere to put luggage other than floor.
Property was amazing on top of ski mountains but had limited transportation to village (especially in summers) Overall an amazing place, beautiful views and room was excellent
No proper guidance where to check in. When I reached at property, there was a poster to go other hotel and check in and then come back this hotel to stay in.
.
Property was clean and quiet. All the staff was very friendly. There is no AC during the summer months which is communicated when booking, but the room stayed cool with the blinds closed. Since summer is the off-season the hotel stayed nice and quiet
We loved the peace and quiet up in the mountains
A beautiful location, and the apartment with hot tub was a great way to wind down after a day on the mountains. Waking up to sunrise over the Rockies should be on everyone’s bucket list. The staff were great when we had a small medical emergency, and were really helpful over the whole time we were there. The activities on the mountain were great fun. Probably one of the finest vacation spots in the world in my opinion.
Nice place for a family
We enjoyed our one night at the Palliser Lodge. Fairly no-frills accommodations. The unit was adequate but the interior was showing it's age. We appreciated the underground parking and relatively close proximity to the main gondola. There was a small hot tub available directly behind the property but we didn't get a chance to enjoy it. All in all, good accommodations if traveling on a limited budget.
Checkin quick and easy. Unit clean and well equipped. Quiet and relaxing.
Seclusion in the mountains
The lodge itself is nice and the outdoor hot tub was fantastic, but the king sized bed we booked ended up being two single beds pushed together, which were different heights. Made for a very uncomfortable sleep. The shower also had no water pressure, so we aren’t sure the shampoo even washed out. It’s a beautiful place, but the stay was disappointing.
the property was great with many amenities.
Had a lovely stay, the room and view were very nice. Would stay here again
Huge and very well-appointed suite. Very friendly staff at front desk and restaurant. Beautiful location. Only issue is that food at restaurant (Peaks) was exceptionally awful so bring your own food I guess?
Fantastic condo with lots of room and facility. Quiet in the summer time
Very dirty in common areas. No one at front desk for check in. Ice machine not working
quiet in the summer. I hope I can come again in winter to ski. room is clean and the hot tub on deck is unique
We booked knowing that the room has mountain view, we viewed a retaining wall, no mountain. Room temperature control doesn't work, front desk doesn’t pick up phone and few other issues.
Checked in counter down graded our room since ours is a third party booking . It is a run down property without any staffs in the lodge for any assistance since it is shoulder period . Lodge should have informed same their guests well in advance . After our complaint checked out and they put us in a different lodge of their group with higher rates and offered discount on first night booking . We don’t deserve this type hassles .
Beautiful location and great stay
The suite was comfortable and roomy. It was so peaceful on the mountain, the views are amazing. Some care and attention to the property are needed, as well as a good vacuuming behind nightstands, dusting of blinds baseboards etc. This wouldnt deter me from staying again though.
