We were really well looked after by the staff
Neat Place
What a neat Hotel. It is in an old warehouse on the waterfront.
2 Night stay near CBD and iconic sites
Stay was 2 nights. Staff were professional, friendly and very helpful. Vibrant property and area but our room (loft) was quiet. Great location, Botanical Gardens, Opera House, Harbour Bridge and CBD within walking distance. Bus stop close by for public transport. Easy 20 min Uber to airport. Would stay again and try a different style of room.
Great experience
Always love staying at this hotel.
Old favourite
Fab hotel and location
We thought this was a fab hotel, quirky in style but was well maintained. Great use of an old warehouse and well designed rooms. We had a King suite which was very spacious with the option of bath and shower. Breakfast is buffet style which suited us, you pay extra for bacon, eggs etc. Bar is well stocked but is not open past 10pm. The area of Woolloomooloo is ideal for food and drink, easy walking through botanical gardens to Sydney Opera house and more. Downside to hotel is states a free mini bar this has stopped, they do stock your bar and room with goodies but you are not aware of what each item Costs, ideally they need a price menu. Another good point was free washing available in the laundry room ideal for those like us travelling around with limited clothing. We would stay here again, Thank you Ovolo
Great Location
Hotel is in a great location. Easy access to Sydney Botanical Gardens, Opera House and Downtown. Hotel has a old factory vibe with tall ceilings and long corridors. Rooms are well appointed.
Excellent! Gorgeous!
Great location near restaurants and pubs. Nice walks and excellent staff service
Nice stay
Building was very cool and unique. Location is great but there were NO food options nearby after ten pm on a Sat night. Hotel restaurant closed at 945 and wouldnt even serve us a drink on arrival. Breakfast was generous for the cost but slow and a bit discombobulated with service. No mimosas before 10am which is a bit of a downer on holiday. Bed was very comfortable but bathroom lighting was terrible. Ac didn’t work and the fridge was leaving. Mini bar apparently used to be complimentary but is now very overpriced. Luckily there is a liquor store just across the street. Overall loved the property quirkiness and design, loved the staff, but was lacking in terms of being called a 5*.
The hotel is in a great location but it really is tired. It’s a big warehouse type of property and half of it is residential so it’s kind of a strange vibe as the hotel sort of just ‘fits in’. The rooms are quite dirty and we had the pleasure of having cockroaches in our room. There were also quite a few dead cockroaches in the hallway leading to our room. The cleaning was mediocre to say the least. Towels were rarely changed and when they did change them we’d be lucky to get one each! Breakfast was the only saving grace. Would definitely NOT stay here again. Much better places to stay for the money
A unique building in a good location. But one of the most unnecessarily noisy hotels I have ever stayed in - and they seem almost proud of it. Played very loud muzak throughout the day. This would have been annoying enough, but on my first night it was still playing and clearly audible in the rooms at 2.30am. Loud music and screaming from a party all through Sunday afternoon , again clearly audible in the rooms, was the icing on the cake.
Wonderful
Gorgeous large rooms
Beautifully appointed large room with comfortable bed, great shower and bath. Fun vibe. Location is a nice 20 min walk from the CBD/Opera House through park - great for a morning run.
Great location and attention to detail
We loved this place! Not only is it in a great location in one of the most wonderful cities in the world, it was full of little touches to delight us every day. The staff was exceptional, willing to go the extra mile in any way they could. Cam checked us in made sure we had everything we could possibly need and remembered us throughout our five day stay, always greeting us and inquiring about plans and how the trip was going. He helped us with parking at Engie with food recommendations and reservations and was just a friendly face for us. The room was comfy and just the right amount of quirky. We loved the candy bar and the free retro video games. Cocktails and coffee at the bar were delicious and quick and did I mention friendly!?! Location was wonderful and we walked easily to everything we wanted to explore in Sydney. They are near the botanic gardens and a modern art museum so often our days started with these! We loved the quiet, historic wharf location and would come back to this place every time we visit Sydney.
Sydney Fabulous!
We loved our experience & stay at Ovolo. The history of structure, the location for walking around along water plus getting around was easy. We had loft room which was so fabulous! It felt like a little city apartment. The staff was always so kind and helpful. Would definitely come back.
Unusual hotel rebuilt on part of an old wharf which it shares with restaurants and very high end condos. Very nice staff. Good location just outside Sydney CBD which is walkable but you must use GPS maps as the area is very hilly and a freeway with an overpass and water blocks most direct access but many paths exist. Uber readily available and cheap. Rooms are big with good views but have no dressers/very little storage space. Breakfast is very expensive but available across the street at a reasonable price. Overall a very nice experience except the minimal storage space in the room.
Unique hotel. A little out of the way for restaurants but worth it for location on water. Included breakfast was okay but would have liked a couple more options. Staff were great.
My favourite hotel in Australia. The staff is so incredibly nice and the ACDC room is by far the greatest room I’ve ever stayed in.
I wish we’d stayed here for longer. Loved everything about this hotel, from the amenities to thoughtful little touches. All the staff were super friendly and helpful. Excellent overall stay
Modern, funky and easy to access Sydney harbour
Situated adjacent to some great restaurants so you don’t have to venture far in the evening. Easy to explore Sydney on foot, as very close to the Botanic gardens and on the waterfront. Quiet. Breakfast is very good but the ‘included’ option is a bit restricted. We would stay again.
Where to start, we stayed with a group of friends for a wedding, across 5 rooms the experience was all identical: - The furniture and rooms are pooly maintained, wood veneers peeling off, dusty, etc - The previously free minibar is now even more overpriced than usual ($10.50 for 150g of peanuts for example) - The tap fell off repeatedly in the shower - The shower has a shelf, that is angled forward so far that any bottles will slide right off - The blackout blinds are in 2 pieces with a large gap, and several inches off the window so they don't block out anything - The staff were short, rude and unhelpful mostly - When going to get a late-ish breakfast (10am) we were offered the buffet for $35, we ordered the accompanying egg and coffee, then when we turned around the buffet was gone. Apparently they started packing up the buffet 20 minutes after we arrived and didn't warn us that we should hurry to get the food in time. They also forgot to make our coffees. - The room service is very overpriced, $30 plus a $5 room service fee for some guacamole (about 1 avocado worth) and half a packet of store bought corn chips, at least the guacamole was decent - The area is just far enough outside the CBD you'll be paying $30 for an uber to get in there, or walking quite a distance; alternatively the bus out the front was ok - There's really not much near the hotel, it's in a little dead zone just near the inner city
Absolute satisfaction!
Friendly staff and super helpful. One of the best hotels I’ve ever experienced. Valet parking was so convenient and I felt so welcome. Well done.
Very Average
Disappointing on a few fronts: had to change room as the first had a bad leak from the shower so although inconvenient was good to leave the musty/mouldy smell. The jacuzzi in the pool didn’t work, had to miss breakfast one morning after running out of time after waiting more than 30 minutes after ordering (only one other table in cafe so it wasn’t busy). Had a mix up on our dry cleaning and lift O/O one day, had to use the fire stairs to get out - no signs to assist/advise. Overall very average and wouldn’t return to this one.
This is my favourite place to stay
Great Stay
Excellent stay. The room was a great size. The view was wonderful. The staff were friendly. We’ll be back. Thank you.
Great service. It was our anniversary and the receptionist Jade was fantastic, and also gave us a bottle of red to celebrate :)
Hotel room was looking very dated & tired
History plus high end!
What an amazing place to stay! Great property highly recommend a stay!
Perfect location very walkable
Old fashioned charm with an ultra edge
The venue is beautiful. Its managed to keep an old fashioned charm while being ultra modern. Really easy to get to all the sights in Sydney
Very unique property.
good location away from CBD hotels
Great service
Such a unique idea of ahotel on a pier. Loved the decor and re-use opportunity in action.
Great property and the staff was great
Absolutely loved our stay! Brilliant location. Quirky cool touches. Outstanding service.
I have stayed at previous Ovolo hotels so my expectations r pretty high, rooms and hotel are nice and clean, bonus got a complementary room upgrade, but they didn’t offer the same inclusions as other Ovolo’s which u come to expect
Loved the size of the rooms, the welcoming atmosphere and was an easy walk to restaurants, the Botanic Gardens and the Opera House. Would stay again.
Was a nice room, comfortable furnishings and good layout. Breakfast was good but it was very cold in temperature…
Great
The room we stayed in was huge (room 330) however if there is a noisy function taking place then you will hear the noise from it although it is supposed to finish no later than 11pm. Best to get a room much further away from the function area if possible. Bed was great as was check in and check out - very simple and quick. Be warned though that onsite parking is hugely expensive!
It was more quiet than expected, a little further from town but the walks through the parks was very nice.
Really good friendly service - wonderful location.
Loft suite had an excellent view of the marina and the city. Adjacent to the Royal Botanical Gardens and a short walk to the Opera House and Circular Quay.
Very nice
Fantastic location for dining and the Art Gallery of NSW!!
Lovely location it was a shame that the hotel doesn’t appear to have a functional restaurant, however the Italian across the road was ver good
Very nice property in woolloomaloo - would recommend if your visiting that side of the coty
Avoid the prepaid breakfast
Booked this as part of a month-long trip to Australia where we stayed in a number of hotels. This had the potential to be one of the nicest places but was let down by really poor breakfast. For sure the worst of the whole trip which as a prepaid option expected much more. Everything else was good but felt ripped off with the breakfast
Worth the stay
Impecibly clean, excellent friendly service
Unique
Great atmosphere, nice rooms and in great condition
The valet fee is $95 per night. This is hellishly high and the most expensive I’ve ever paid anywhere in the world. Housekeeping woke me up early knocking on the wrong door
Nice property and excellent walking distance from great attractions. Awesome stay.
Lovely hotel. We were in a loft room towards the front of the hotel so views were limited. Very comfortable room and bed, had a great nights sleep.
A nice hotel but not 5-star quality as advertised on Google.
The stay was incredible. The staff next level. Very happy. Will definitely be back again.
Great hotel, friendly and helpful staff. Great location so close to the city.
Really great place to stay when you do not want to be in the heart of the city but walking distance
Very friendly staff, overall great condition of the property. It was quite cold on Sydney during our stay and the staff arranged a heater immediately upon request. Enjoyed the swimming pool and jacuzzi quite a bit. Had a problem with the locker keys, but the staff reacted immediately and provided us with a spare key. Highly recommend this hotel as the area is beautiful and there are a lot of nice dining options in the vicinity.
Spacious room and excellent service. Not too closer to tour route so Quite at night
Beautiful hotel in great quiet area, walkable to gardens, opera house, and bridge. I especially loved that the hotel was a renovated historic building on the water.
It just ticks all the boxes
Enjoyed the stay, rooms a bit run down and air con not working: cold in room. Jacuzzi not working.( despite calling to check it was) Private function downstairs so couldn’t enjoy the bar area
Friendly- Cozy- Amazing
The staff were super friendly and very helpful from the beginning. I believe it was Toni who assisted me and provided me with a list of things to do while in Sydney. The room was spacious and the bed was very cozy. I really liked that you can order amenities through a QR Code. That was helpful when I needed bathroom items.
Property was interesting. Location perfect but no more ovolo perks so no distinguishing features anymore.
Great decor, best bed, great rooms. Place was rather empty though on a friday.
Was great, would stay here again
The Staff are Amazing and the Best Beds
Great hotel but my bad luck due to wrong room.
The hotel location was good but unfortunately I was upgraded to suite. Unfortunate because the heater was not working and they couldn't change rooms or repair it for both days I stayed. Spoiled the whole mood. Also lighting in room was v low and low
Excellent hotel.
The hotel
Just amazing they went above and beyond for my sister’s 25th wedding present from me. So thoughtful. Hand made card, cake and bottle of wine. Thank you.
Loved Ovolo Woolloomooloo
Awesome waterfront hotel with amazing restaurants. Location was a 10 walkable to all iconic sights. Delicious buffet breakfast for a fee. Beautiful room and viee. Clean. Comfortable beds & linens. Would definitely stay again!
Rats in the lobby!
Rats in the lobby, seen several times by myself AND the staff! The first loft shown was filthy, like it had been partied in for weeks, half painted, dinged up, filthy stains all over the carpets and couches, ripped up carpeting spots, wet uncleaned shower upon arrival, absolutely does not qualify for a SLH brand hotel! Complete scam. Reception staff was only thing that made up for it. They were apologetic, so sweet, helped book me another room that was better but honestly they were horrified as well. Shameful for this hotel to claim they are a Small Luxury Hotel of the world. Not in a millon years. Will not return. Stayed for 3 nights and it was freezing in the room. Took all 3 days for the heat to warm up a few degrees. They said there was nothing that could be done. I’d have to wait it out. “Do you need an extra blanket?!” No, I need your heating system to work. Unacceptable. It’s an old W hotel that needs mega renovation in the rooms, not just the lobby! Will be speaking with management so this doesn’t get swept under their ripped up stained rugs! (Carpeting!)
It’s a unique hotel with history and character. I really liked the way the modern newer design contrasted the old. The bed was really comfortable. It was quiet and the staff were helpful. The only thing I didn’t like was the thermostat didn’t do much except make noise so I turned it off and temp was fine anyway. Great place. Will stay again!
.
Really nice chic hotel
Great location. Staff were very friendly and helpful.
Wonderful hotel. The only issue was there were no towels when I checked in and some missing on another day. However the welcome gift and free mini bar were a fab addition
Staff were friendly and helpful. Room service was a breeze and complimentary minibar was a nice bonus for us. Rooms were clean with a comfy bed and aircon.
Great hotel with lovely extra touches
I loved this hotel over and above the Shangri La we stayed in for one night to get the view. Overall this hotel had a great vibe and extras which were thoughtful and fun, loved the free mini bar and array of welcome snacks plus the sweet cart in the lobby was great. As a silver member I got a lovely hunter valley bottle of wine which was great, and a complimentary upgrade which was lovely too! Great pool but sadly jacuzzi was out of order. Loved the decor and size of rooms was really welcome Great location for main sites. Don’t hesitate to book here
It was a great experience, loved the free mini bar and the convenience of walkable dining options.
Quick Sydney trip for the weekend.
Great location in the heart of the city in walking distance to main attractions. Funky hotel, with a really cool vibe. Friendly helpful staff. Rooms a nice, bed comfortable and a free minibar each day. Would stay again.
Great location & funky vibes
A few bits of the room was showing its age - the bath/shower & shower heads could do with replacing & the air con was a bit noisy, but apart from that, the rooms were big & comfy & faultlessly clean.
great sydney stay with extra service andprovisions
Great location, good size rooms, great pool and gym and good service all round.
This hotel is in an old converted warehouse, and it is a boutique hotel for a unique stay. The staff was so friendly, and the rooms were very nice: clean, comfortable and included a mini-bar stocked as part of the room price. A few people may be put off by the restaurant which is vegetarian for the breakfast buffet and vegan for dinner. However, there are other dining options very close by on the Woolloomooloo Wharf.
So unique and beautiful . I was given my VIP benefit and early check in …
Very cool place.
Great
Great location in a historic wharf building - we loved it! Location was outside the bustle of CQ which we really appreciated, and a lovely walk via botanical gardens got us to the Opera House and the Rocks, as well as ferries. Hotel is beautifully done, comfortable bedding, staff were friendly and so kind and helpful with any questions or a request for a check out extension. We didn’t need it, but they offered to store our bags after check out. Taxis right outside but we used Uber, so easy. I wish I had known that booking directly with the hotel would have included breakfast, not included via hotels.com - ah well. If you want a special meal, highly recommend Portino - tasting menu is an experience, soooo good!
Hotel with a difference
We loved the funky decor of the hotel. The free mini bar and snack bag was a nice bonus. The staff were very helpful in helping us to find public transport options. Great breakfast! Close walk to the Handa Opera. Second time staying here, would stay again.
Excellent location! Excellent staff! Such a fun hotel!!!
Built inside of a pier on Sydney harbor, it has to be one of the most beautiful hotels that I have ever been.
This hotel is outstanding! We stayed 2 nights before a cruise. Checkin was easy and Jade was incredibly helpful with directions to all we wanted to see and do. The social between 4-6 with a complimentary drink and the breakfast were both excellent. We loved the candy bar! The room was quite large and well appointed with a complimentary mini bar and snacks. Absolutely a gem of a place!
This was our fourth stay. Enough said!
Ovolo hotels are great- quirky, interesting and enjoyable. The Woolloomooloo hotel is a fab building and location.
Little dirty but still a good stay
Apart from the skirting in the room being dirty and a fair few stains on the carpets and lounges I enjoyed the stay. Very cool hotel otherwise and good location. Cocktails in the bar were amazing.
