Good hotel Close to most of the attractions and lot of restaurants in the neighborhood Staff were really helpful Thank you
It is too much in a city center
Great location and so many activities around the area.
Great location, very friendly staff!
Very poor bedroom not made up and no phone
We had to wait hours for one of the rooms to be ready. We asked for adjacent rooms but we were given rooms on different floors. No telephones in rooms. Very good full compliment buffet breakfast which was included in the Hotels price. Hotel is very central to shops and main areas. Staff at reception for early check out if needed. If you arrive early they will hold bags for free. Gift stalls just outside hotel.
Great location in Center City. Easy walk to V&A Waterfront. And the Market Square is right out the front door. Reasonable rates, very good breakfast, extremely pleasant staff….
Clean and welcoming
This is a pleasant hotel, very well situated in the city centre and close to many bars, restaurants and attractions. The rooms were a good size and clean. The room could have done with additional sockets. Breakfast was very good. The staff were very friendly and helpful and brought us a mini fridge on request. I'd have no difficulty staying here again.
They were not prepared for me in the morning when I arrived. The advertisement stated that the hotel had an airport shuttle which is false. I had to catch a cab to the hotel from the airport. If I would have known there was not an airport shuttle. I would have not picked that hotel. I was overchareged for the breakfast and the airport shuttle.
It was a great hotel. They have great service and the staff were very accommodating. However the location doesnt look safe.
A comfortable hotel in the lively Central Business District, the most interesting neighborhood for hotels in Cape Town
The staff is awesome 💯💯💯😎 very demure, very mindful, polite, helpful more especially Ntando who advised us on places to visit in Cape Town. Breakfast was also very nice and the whole place is kept so clean
The breakfast is excellent and staff are friendly. The room is in rough shape due to lack of maintenance. Toilet seat cover not affixed to toilet. Security latch broken off of door. Room 219 is next to the HVAC system so you'll hear lots of fans and bangs turning on and off. The singular window is glazed over and looks out to an enclosed, depressing storage shed. The room safe and tv functions though. Greenmarket square has vendors but lots of dodgy folks including one woman following my husband and asking for food. Use uber or taxis at night.
The breakfast needs more variety although it is delicious. The market in front of hotel is very close to the hotel and too many people are haggling you for money. The hotel needs updating the tv stations so there is also greater variety on the tv entertainment. The bar needs to be open beyond 10pm; it is an hotel after all! Overall I will rate it an 8 because I would revisit this hotel.
The hotel reception and check-in was excellent. Check-in was online. The problem was the housekeeping. I had to request amenities that I paid for. They need to improve the service they have to render to clients.
Good value stay in Cape Town
Great value in a central location. The only grumble was the market setting up in the mornings in front of the hotel was a bit noisy. It shouldn't be an issue if your room is on one of the higher floors or a room that is not facing the front of the hotel.
I enjoyed my stay. The staff was professional.
Good stay
My stay was good
The staff were great rooms good. Only down side it was noisy in the morning because of the market outside start setting up early
Nice place to Stay
Loved the hotel and the breakfast was simply gorgeous and bountiful. The African market out front was the frosting on the cake. The swimming pool was an added bonus for my husband who does laps; it was small but adequate.
Nice
Hotel staff very freindly and very welcoming. The location is very busy and it is in center everything you need close by. I enoyed the free breakfast. Best regards
easy check in process, friendly and accommodating staff, great breakfast with options, beds were comfortable. I did not feel safe going out by myself. I watched scammers working from my hotel window. If you are with 3 or 4 people I would feel safe. Hotel and rooms are in great need of a remodel. Bathroom door was rusted off the hinges and door would not close, cracked tile and dirty grout. Nice USB ports in headboard.
Comfortable
Comfortable short stay, staff were helpful even after checking out later
Hotel was clean and comfortable, but a little faded. Break fast was good but other meals were a bit hit and miss. Staff were excellent. My main concern was the stuarion of the hotel. It was described as Waterfront but was a good 15 minute taxi drive away. The area around the hotel was seedy with lots of aggressive beggars. I did not feel safe Outside the hotel
The hotel was clean and located in a good area. The market in thw square just outside the hotel is great. The breakfast was nice. What let it down was the room. The bathroom was very small and the air conditioning in the room was terrible. The unit gave me an electric shock on two separate occasions. No one at reception seemed to be remotely bothered that I had been injured. We asked to move rooms after the second incident and the room we were transfered to also had really poor air conditioning which made the room very warm. The bar, restaurant and common areas are nice and modern but the room was a disappointment.
Average
Avg rooms, no provision to open window for fresh air. Bit noisy since market is in front o
Great
Great place walking to 81 long city sightseeing busses. Right by the craft market great area
Great place to stay
Great team and effortless. Room was large and airy and perfect for my needs.
Check-in, temp bag storage, breakfast, convenience to hop-on/off was great and staff was SUPER helpful with everything! Definitely a wise decision.
The staff are absolutely amazing especially maymona, so helpful and lovely. The hotel is nice, good breakfast, room is clean However, the wifi didnt work in our room the whole stay and other guests complained from the same thing
The Onomo Inn On The Square is the perfect place in Cape Town. The crafts market is just outside the front door and more crafts on St. George’s Mall, one block away. St George’s Anglican Cathedral, where Archbishop Tutu presided, is very close. The Inn On The Square is in the very center of Cape Town. The restaurant is also good. There is a bar too. The staff is competent and friendly. I really recommend this hotel
Excellent place to be able to stay right in the City. Right in the market Square with lots of places within easy walking by day and night. Good complimentary breakfast and the valet parking worked well.
Wonderful experience at Onomo on the Green. Had great dinner in house with local fish and game. Multicultural, very convenient area.
Renovation
The hotel is a bit old. Needs refurbish especially the carpet and bathroom tiles.
central location. green square market, helpful employees, good security outside of building
Incredible breakfast buffet included
The ONOMO hotel, located in a good, central location, has 8 floors. We were lucky to be on the 8th floor overlooking the square. I imagine the lower floors might be noisier due to vendors setting up and dismantling their booths. The breakfast (which we weren't told was included when we checked in) was incredible - one of the nicest buffets I've experienced in a hotel. The pool, while small, was refreshing. Laundry is available but very expensive.
Very poor quality hotel.
We had to move 3 times due broken AC units. Had to waste alot of time in the lobby and the maintence manager (Neal) lied to us!
Not great
Unfortunately there was a mixup with our booking and it was never sent through. This wasn’t the hotels fault but staff were dismissive and rude at times. Rooms were adequate but bathroom pokey and not that clean. Breakfast was hectic and unenjoyable. Overall I wouldn’t recommend.
Convinient place.good food.
Good tourist hotel
As a tourist hotel it's difficult to fault the Onomo - it does the things hat tourists expect to find very well. It is centrally located, the staff were very responsive and attentive, the breakfast was good, the room was clean and the pool on the 8th floor was fine. It has a large street market directly outside with shops and restaurants nearby and it is a 15 minute walk to the V&A
The staff is truly amazing!!
Centre of city, n convinient for all activities
I didn't like this property. It was old. It needs upgrading and to remove the carpet. My room smelled bad.
Location.
Great property and great service. The only issue is that the pool was being misused by other guests. The hotel should ensure strict measures for the pool and it wasn’t heated.
It was my second time staying at Onomo and would go back anytime. What a lovely and pleasant experience :-) Thank you team Onomo.
Good location in town for business and conventions.
Original theme and relaxing
Very nice place to stay, comfortable, central location to activities. Doors to the bathroom were a concern, very tight getting in and out of the bathrooms. Don’t ask for an iron, it won’t appear at room. Mr. Quentin and the staff are very friendly.
Money was stolen out of our room!!! It happened the day before we left, while we were out on a tour. We mistakenly left some money in a backpack in the room. Not all of it was taken. Obviously, the hope was we would not discover the theft until we got home but we discovered the theft the morning we were leaving as we were packing up. We reported it to the Manager and gave statements to the Security Officer but so far the hotel has not responded. We asked the Manager to call the police but the police did not show up before we had to leave for the airport. Avoid this hotel if you value your belongings!
My happy stay at Onomo
It was wonderful. Had quite a friendly people at attended to my needs in swift manner and courteous too. Would savour another opportunity to lodge here. Location, very strategic.
Friendly and helpful staff. Doorman made sure I stayed safe when standing outside waiting for cabs or uber. Front desk was always helpful. Enjoyed that they had a sauna as well as a pool with a great view of the mountain!
A well maintained older building. Room carpets and chairs were stained with use and age.
Location near hop-on-hop-off ticket office
Our stay here was good. Breakfast was twice the cost of places outside the hotel. Eat somewhere else. The food at the hotel isnt good anyway. Room was clean and taken care of. There are a lot of people complaining about the refugees outside the building. Stop complaining. They are not bothering anyone and they have no place to go. Great experience overall.
Position is good. Bar staff a bit slow to respond. Helpful in booking taxi. Basic room price does not include breakfast.
Large heritage building fully modernised, but with much character. Right Down town delightful Cape town, you can walk almost everywhere. Street markets everywhere, pedestrians streets, lots of cafés and restaurants around.
The service was great from the staff.they help us with everything we needed.
I read many reviews raving about this place and I think under different circumstances I would’ve liked it, however outside across the street was littered with refugees on sidewalk which didn’t make us feel safe despite the gated entrance. But what bothered me even more was when we checked into the room, the beds were made but there was trash on the floor and the waste basket, and I saw a cockroach where the coffee maker was and two more by the door. I called and was moved to a different room but that was a horrible first impression. In the morning the manager reached out and offered to switch to one of the sister hotels, but we left and went to another hotel. We got our money for the remaining days refunded and checked into another hotel. At least the breakfast was ok!
Great location, although the square outside is very busy.
The staff is friendly and the place well located. The insistence to pay upfront is a bit annoying. the refugees camp on the outside looks scary at the beginning but the staff and the people there are actually friendly. I would come again.
Good hotel where rooms appear to have been recently refurbished. Staff are very helpful. Rooftop pool is deceptively small. No fault of the hotel but the refugee camp situated directly outside the hotel is unnerving and personal safety when leaving the hotel on foot is a concern, even during the daytime.
The staff is exceptional. They helped us with recommendations and making sure our stay was the best it could be. Lorika specifically went above and beyond with a smiling face to help us out with things.
Very nice
Very pleased. Arrived 3hours before stated check in time. Were in our room within minutes. There was some confusion with our request for 2 twin beds, but the queen was very comfy and the pillows devine. Room was spotless. The bathroom is cramped, but functional. Double windows, so very quiet. Didn't eat breakfast, so no feedback. The display looked good though. The best part was all the friendly staff. Would definitely stay here again. To be honest, because of the budget price I was apprehensive it would be disappointing, but was pleasantly surprised.
Nice central hotel
Was a lovely stay at the start and finish for our three week trip to South Africa. Hotel very central with bars and places to eat within walking distance. Felt safe at the hotel and all staff On reception and front of house were very lovely and helpful. Bar staff took advantage on pricing a few times when the bar was full when full of England cricket fans which was. little naughty. It didn’t effect us but it would have been good to know about the large refugee camp outside the hotel in the square, although as a group we were not harassed, a couple or solo traveler may not feel the same way.
I found the property very clean and tidy, the bar was disappointing, with limited drinks.
Breakfast was superb especially the homemade muesli. Staff generally very good but bar service slow and inattentive - kept running out of draft beer. Standard room snug and comfortable but bathroom very small. Good value for money. Hotel suffers from now being surrounded by a refugee shanty town attached to the main church. Continually harassed by beggars and other undesirables right outside the hotel.
It was a clean and comfortable hotel. The employees were extremely helpful and friendly and accommodating. I also felt very safe in the hotel.
Good
The swimming pool was not at the international standard about cleanliness
It was so amazing I would love to go back for my next vacation.
The internal systems at the property’s restaurant and room service as well as laundry are strange where they expect you to pay for everything every time instead of adding it to your check out bill is very inconvenient. The first time we checked in, we did not have local currency.
We were made very welcome by all members of staff from the time we arrived to the time we left. We would especially like to mention Patrick Willemburg who made us feel so comfortable with his friendliness and helpfulness, his help with all matters was exceptional. Also mention David in the restaurant who went above and beyond to be helpful. All members of staff were brilliant though.
Cape Town First Timer
Great place to stay in Central Cape Town. Very convenient location, nice staff, great breakfast. Would definitely stay here again...and I'll definitely be returning to Cape Town in the future!
ERNEST & SONJA GRIFFIN
We had excellent service and friendly staff from reception to persons cleaning the room. We had a wonderful stay. Thank you to all staff. The Hotel itself was very neat and clean and a pleasure.
Staff excellence
The hotel is very centrally situated which was in walking distance from my meeting. The staff are absolutely wonderful. Friendly and very helpful, they took good care of us. The hotel was clean comfortable for a one night business stay. Sadly the refugees who are camping around the hotel are an eyesore and very bad for business! It is disgraceful that they are not moved on and allowed to stay there making it bad for The Inn on the Square. This has always been one of my favorite stays in Cape Town and I would highly recommend staying there. I did not feel threatened or intimidated at any time by these people and it is sad to see that there is no help for them.As for the hotel and its staff, well done for overcoming this unfortunate problem, you still kept your pose and excelled in customer service. Thank you.
Well located good price/quality. Big breakfast selection
Great office and bar staff. The breakfast staff only seem to be interested in the payment, when they are around. The rooms themselves could use a remodel, but is taken care of ok.
Location in center of Cape Town on Green Market Square
Well maintained property great service and great food
Happy Customer
Amazing staff! Was a pleasure staying there!
Fabulous location and really helpful staff. Your car is valet parked for you.
Nice place to stay next to long street and in city center
Great Cape Town hotel
Wonderful staff, helpful and courteous.
It’s a nice hotel right in the city center but what I like most about them is their breakfast buffet, it’s 5 star and an excellent staff service.. I highly recommend it
Good experience
Amazing
Great central location. Helpful staff. Try to expand evening meal choices. Great breakfast.
Cant beat location, price, and service.
Wonderful stay, perfect location and outstanding service.
Great value for downtown Cape Town hotel
The Inn on the Square is a very nice hotel with a very friendly staff who go out of their way to provide great service. The rooms aren’t huge but the bed was comfy and breakfast was very good. The neighborhood is a little rough but we found a good variety of excellent restaurants within easy walking distance.
Awesome
ONOMO is 2nd to none in Cape Town
I LOOOOOOVED this place. It was so beautiful on the inside. It's close to many restaurants and bars. Its value is unmatched. The room was VERY spacious and the price for what you get is unbeatable.
The staff was pleasant during our stay. However I left my jewelry in the bedside drawer when I checked out. I immediately sent an email to onomo@onomohotel.com. But never a response. I called and was told they would research & call me back. After a few hours passed I called back... he said they did find the jewelry & the manager will email me. Never received an email. I continued to call , they continued to never callback, tell me the manager is now gone for the day & hung up on me a several times; finally after several days I received an email address to reach out to them. I received a prompt response... that it will take him some time to research but he will contact me. We communicated consistently; about 10days later he stated the gentlemen that took my initial call “did not” inform me that the jewelry was found, but an Executive Housekeeper will be in contact. He also stated that Polygraphs on 3 Housekeeping employees were done: All 3 staff members show NO deception on all 3 very specific questions checking involvement. And that Additional statement and verification from staff member verifying that jewelry was seen “outside the safe” the day before departure. This is a lie because .... No one ever came into our room during our stay. We put the “do not disturb” sign up from the beginning and never allowed the room to be entered. Nor was it ever by a safe. I asked for these polygraphs that were “supposedly” taken for my lawyer & was not provided with them.
Fabulous hotel, great city
Loved this hotel, have been in South Africa for the past 3 weeks and this was my favourite hotel
yuk
The wet paint smell in the room was awful - honestly better to wait until the paint has dried before renting a property. Hard to establish contact to pick up key. Even with the paint smell really not a clean property. Overall a bad experience.
EXCEPTIONAL STAY
wonderful hotel stayed for valentine dinner where I won a prize. Fantastic food and did book in again.
Everything perfect
excellent
Great hotel in the centre of everything
There was no fridge in the room but they provided one when asked. Laundry comes back boxed! The AC was old and quite noisy. Great pub off reception.
Our experience at Onomo was good. The facility was nice and the staff was very helpful and friendly.
Pros and cons.
Pros: Very nice staff, great location, reasonably priced. Cons: desperately needs refresh/remodel. A/C doesn’t work (and I changed rooms because A/C wasn’t cooling but was VERY LOUD. Unfortunately the new room’s A/C unit did the same thing). No hot water for showers in the morning.
