Property was in very poor repair. The room cleanliness was substandard. Cleanliness issues were likely due to the condition of the property (I.e. excessive caulking and drywall patching in bathroom looks dirty and invites pests, sink with drain clog cannot possibly appear clean, both the entry and balcony doors were rusted out, age of furnishings exceed commercial usefulness.) We did not use the pool because the water was a milky shade and had a film of some type on the surface. The staff we encountered was friendly and helpful but the lobby smelled like they had a moisture problem. There wasn’t a time we were on property to or from our room where we didn’t smell people smoking drugs. I have very low standards, but even so, I will rate this as poor because it was advertised as a family room and price per night was over $500.

The place was clean. I felt nice in there. I am the staff was awesome. I like the convenience of the shopping. I’ve been able to walk across the street. It was neat and the staff was more than willing to supply everything I needed.

Just pay the extra money for something nicer if you can. Beds hard. One pillow. Light in bathroom didn’t work. Door was hard to open. Pretty sure a drug deal happened across the street. If you do decide to stay here be safe.

nowhere did they state on-site about a $100 deposit if under 25; i wouldn’t have known at all till check in had i not called and asked. what they don’t share is that they won’t refund your deposit! was supposed to be refunded “shortly after checkout,” but days later and they won’t pick up the phone any time of day—the one time i got someone on the phone, they stated they couldn’t refund me because the hotel “didn’t have any available funds to do so.” absolute scam. not cleanly, either.

This place is disgusting. Do not stay here. It is dirty, scary, and dangerous. The sheets were stained and nasty. Electric wiring was showing at an outlet. Plumbing was on backwards and was a scald hazard. I wouldn’t touch the microwave because something was dripping down the outside. The lock was on backwards. Bugs! Wires hanging low overhead into pool area. Homeless people sitting all around outside of building.

The lady at the front desk was not the nicest. We were just staying for one night until we could check into our other hotel. We got our key cards and went up to the room and someone was changing the door lock. Not a big deal. We went down to the beach and came back and our key cards didn’t work. Went down to the front desk and she redone them, went back up, still didn’t work. Went back down and told her I didn’t know if it was me or the key. She came up and couldn’t get it to work either. She didn’t say anything and just walked away with our key cards. We stood there and waited and finally a guy came up to help us. He finally got it to open but said he wasn’t going to put us in that one because it was finicky. He moved us over to another one and once again the door wouldn’t open. He moved us to a 3rd room which again didn’t open. Finally, the fourth and final room opened but when we went in, it smelled musty. And there was burn holes in the covers. I went down and asked him for a refund and he obliged. He told me to contact the website I used and he would approve it. Contacted the website and when they called to speak with someone, they could not get anyone on the phone. And my case ultimately got dismissed. I spent $100 on a 1 night stay that we didn’t even stay in.

The only thing I saw good was the price per night compared to the others! No shower curtain, dirty floors, taped wires, had to do my own room service, and go get my own towels! Yes it’s oceanfront but I got the side view instead of oceanfront that I paid for! The elevator sucks and room stunk, Wi-Fi wouldn’t even update the app on my sons switch!!

If I could rate this place 0 I would. The only redeeming quality was the fact that it was on the beach. We arrived around 8pm, room wasn’t even cleaned yet. When checking in, we were told there was an additional $89 resort fee, which was not listed anywhere on the listing or the site. In general, very run down, claimed it had 2 pools, only 1 was made known (no idea where the second one even was). People smoking marijuana in the pool area and playing very loud vulgar music. The room was clean, however there were issues in the room, holes in the wall, a/c unit was duct taped, mildew or mold in the bathroom, toilet not properly attached. Did not give my ID back after checking in, realized I was missing it while out and had to call to find out it was still at their front desk. Don’t understand why they didn’t call me to let me know they still had. This was just a few things. Overall, would not recommend.

the hotel is very dirty. The air conditioning did not work well, the sink was clogged, they said they would fix it but never did. the room door was broken and the elevator stinks and is very dirty. the people in the office are not friendly at all. they charged me an extra $30 when I checked in just because it was a weekend. el hotel esta muy sucio. El aire acondicionado no funcionaba bien, el lavamanos estaba tapado, dijeron que lo arreglarian pero nunca lo hicieron. la puerta del cuarto estaba rota y el elevador apesta y esta muy sucio. las personas en la oficina no son nada amigables. me cobraron 30$ extra al llegar al hotel solo porque era fin de semana. No lo recomiendo para nada

I will not ever stay there again or ever recommend

It was not worth the money lights didn’t work half the time sheets and towels were dirty and we had to change our own bed . Room wasn’t ready past checkin walls all cracked around ceiling. The toilet was like a kiddie toilet so small. It was just down right nasty. Ice machine didn’t work and the elevator didn’t work either.

Dirty, marijuana smoked all over property. Trash left everywhere. How you get on the beach isn’t even a structure it’s a path by the sand dunes. No coffee pot in room. Charged me a “resort fee” of $99.00 when I checked in said it was additional to the resort fee Expedia charged. Don’t stay here!

Filthy rooms and hookers at the Ocean Star

We checked in, but checked out in less than 15 minutes. We booked 3 rooms. Two of them were absolutely filthy and unacceptable. The third room was already occupied by what could have been a hooker. We left and went elsewhere. This no tell motel should not even be on your list. They forwarded me their "no refund policy" and I demand a refund! I also called my credit card folks and canceled payment. This place is a joke pretending to be a hotel.

This was a nightmare. They charge an extra $99 when you get there and it only goes down hill from there. Absolutely filthy and reeks of smoke. The first room had dirty towels and sand all in the beds. They moved us to another room and proceeded to give a key to a strange man who walked right in on us…. Rude staff, filthy and unsafe. No refund given even though we left as soon as a stranger came in our room

I didn't even check into the property. I got there and it totally looked like a crack motel. I asked if I could cancel my reservation the front desk clerk said no and that there was an additional $50 resort fee. Told her there was no way I was staying in that hotel especially not paying more. I left and had to spend considerably more for a new hotel. I know this place is cheap but you do not want to stay there

Worts place I have seen in my 15 years of traveling, a lot of hidden fee, I have prepaid online when I got there they add $39 resort fee that’s was never mentioned when I made a reservation. Worst experience please stay a way from that place.

Terrible

It had Roaches, cigarette burns in the sheets, something random in my pillow case, walls are pealing, tub cracking and water wasn’t hot. Charged me a extra $49 for a made up fee that was separate from hotels.com. I will never return.

Don’t go there! The pics are deceiving. This place is horrible but luckily Expedia was able to get me another hotel on short notice because this was the first hotel I ever declined staying in. It was that bad. A drug deal was going down in their underground parking garage they made me park in. There were holes in the wall in the room and the room was disgusting! Just tear it down and rebuild please!

Suprise resort fee

You get what you pay for. A no frills oceanfront hotel. I was however surprised at the front desk with a 40.00 resort fee not mentioned on the policies. This made my 65.00 hotel 105.00. Definitely not a 105 per night stay.

It was absolutely horrible our rooms had not been clean, we had called to try and change rooms and were told the manager wasn't on site... Electrical sockets broken, foot prints on bed, mold on the ceilings, blood on my other rooms sheets, old food in microwave.. Tried to call hotels.com to help us but they couldn't because the rokms were nonrefundable... We ended up have to get another hotel and lose our money.. I have over 30 images but I will only post a few

Dump

This hotel needs to be renovated asap. The price to stay and no refund or cancelation is a joke. The only reason I stayed was because I couldn't get a refund. Rooms need paint bathroom was horrible tub especially had to ask for remote no ice bucket and refrigerator not working properly on top of that management customer service skills leave little to be desired. Won't visit that hotel ever again

If you are thinking about this hotel think again!!!!!!!! Hotel is nothing like the pics and be ready to battle roaches!!!!!!! The local junkies seem to be the cleaning crew so your stuff might be there when you return and it might not!!!!!! Owner nor management care guy in the office is pocketing cash and trying to charge 150 cash at the desk for a room that ain’t worth 10 dollars towels were stained sheets were burned and dirty and they removed all be ding machines to sell cam drinks for 2.00 a piece out of the office a complete rip off and let down especially when your not from there and traveled from 7 hrs away to visit their beautiful city!!!!!!!

Such a gross hotel, there was sand in the bed from previous tenants, the water in the sink was clogged, the floor was absolutely disgusting, old papertowels stuck to the floor, the room smelled of sewage throughout the night, AC was not keeping room cool, overall very sketchy area, i do NOT recommend, but i suppose you get what you pay for. Very sketchy underground parking for cars less that 6ft tall, overall awful experience. Never ever again. Staff was very unprofessional. The elevator was so outdated and smelled of feces.
