The lady at the check-in was excellent! Room very clean and up to date... Great Spot
Staff was kind and the room was clean and cozy, would book again.
Great place to stay.
Alex was amazing when we had to evacuate for the Palisades fire.
This property was located near the beach, which was perfect! Plenty of scooters nearby so you don’t have to worry about driving to nearby restaurants, etc or being stuck in traffic. The parking stalls are a bit tight, but other than that I would stay here again.
Very nice and affordable rooms. I will completely recommend it.
Great room. Very clean. Walking distance to poer and restaurants
It was clean and location was convenient to tourist attractions. Parking was vert limited and not made for pickups or larger suvs
Very small property, cramped parking. Good value for money, if you are looking for no frills and close the the pier, this is the place for you.
High crime area. Would have paid $100 more next time to stay in a proper hotel with parking and a lobby.
Excellent
We were happy with the accommodations. Parking was not the greatest experience. The parking lot is very small, and larger vehicles cannot park there.
Simple Room to Take in the Town
Perfect location, Clean and simple with most basic amenities you need. We walked the pier, went to a beautiful restaurant on the way back, got drinks next door to the hotel, got coffee in the morning down the street before check out (coffee also provided but we did not have). There is a park next door with great views. Even ran to target for a last minute item. Rooms are small and there is not any room services. parking is paid and is a bit tricky for new drivers but not as bad as it seems. Also its a touristy area but you can't blame the hotel for that.
Xx
Great location for Santa Monica Pier. Check in was simple, the service was quick and friendly . Housekeeping was friendly. Room was clean: we would stay again. It was a little noisy on the street I. Saturday night with cars driving by but it wasn’t really bothersome. We loved the nostalgic feel of the motel. The Backyard next door was great with fast friendly service Bruno’s had great Italian across the street.
Really close to the pier!
Highly recommend
Across the pier
Felt a little unsafe. Room was big and clean
Good
The property was great and well maintained. It was close to the pier and was only a 15 minute drive to the Getty Villas museum .
It was a lot of fun (and very convenient to the Santa Monica Pier/Beach and downtown Santa Monica) to stay at the Ocean Lodge. The check in was quick, friendly and easy. The housekeeping staff did a fantastic job of cleaning the room and making the bed every day. I felt very safe with the lighting and card key system. The fact the this property is where the fictional attorney played by Billy Bob Thornton in “Goliath” lives just added to the fun. Having the iconic Chez Jay bar next door was also a hoot. There are some street people in the area because of the large park behind the property, but I never had an issue when I walked through the park to get an Uber in front of the Santa Monica City Hall (on the other side of the park). I highly recommend Ocean Lodge for a stay in Santa Monica. Good value!
Very friendly staff, easy to get to. I loved the stay especially for the price!! I will return!
It was a good experience
Parking on site was terrible. Wouldn’t even consider that they have parking as an option given limited spaces and how small/tight areas were.
With the exchange rate and some mysterious add-on fees from the motel the cost of this old outdated and crammed beach motel cost us $780 PER NIGHT!l
Great place to stay
Parking was terrible, otherwise it was a great stay
You have to pay for parking, but other than that, everything was great
Small and overpriced and noisy outside
Very convenient to the pier!
It was cute but basic and very nice and clean. The only slight discomfort was the sheets felt a little scratchy but i honestly think it was because they were either very new or starched. The location was great staff was very nice. I would definitely stay there again.
Clean, bright and so close to everything.
Cheaper for the area but run down.
This is a very old “Motel 6” type of place with tight squeezes barely any parking. The rooms are renovated just enough to say they are but the heat pump/ac wasn’t working well, they did not have ANY accommodation for ADA as we asked for a shower chair and they had none, the lights didn’t all work, sink backed up with just water and the closet was smelly. Beds and pillows were comfortable. Not worth the price we paid. I guess location dictated a premium 5 star price but we got cheap run-down motel 6 amenities.
。
Rooms are small. No kitchen, no microwave, not even coffee machine. At least there was one in the office, which was closed half of the time. Parking is limited and very tight. Park in the back of the building is full of homeless people and junkies, just as the other areas of the city. Not safe area. Someone was knocking on all doors on first floor rooms at 3 am. Anyway.. considering its the cheapest hotel in the area and its almost on the beach its probably worth it to stay there. Property is clean, rooms nice and clean and has daily service.
The staff was very kind to keep my luggage till evening.
un hotel para estar muy cerca de todo lo atractivo en santa monica, es un buen hotel si solo vas a pasar la noche
WHAT I LIKE IS THAT ITS CLOSE TO THE PIER/
Nice little motel, very clean and comfy!
Great location, right on the 1 HWY, you would think it would be noisy but it was not at all. Newly remodeled rooms, very clean and well equipped. Comfortable bed. Would stay again!
Great Spot
Great location for the Santa Monica Pier and shopping area, very helpful and friendly staff, would recommend
Cute and clean!
Super clean and a perfect place for my kids and I to bunk up for the night. I booked last minute and we checked in after the office closed - the staff left very easy to follow instructions for me on where to get my room key as well as detailed info on everything else regarding parking and how to get a hold of someone, if necessary. The room was very clean and had everything we needed.
They don’t tell u how many can stay in the room after a long hour drive ther should be at least 2 ppl per bed and it’s fkn stupid
Close to the pier , 3 blocks mx
Beautiful inside.
The outside looks a little rough but the inside of the rooms are beautiful. It is noisy as it’s on a main road. Don’t plan on parking here if you have a truck or large SUV. There are spots for small cars/SUV’s only.
Great visit!
Old hotel but nicely redone - very comfortable and convenient to the pier and beach. Great front desk staff - very pleasant snd unusually helpful for these times. Appreciated their help so much, esp with parking our minivan, recommendations to eat, and help with a loud snd unruly family above us at 10 pm. Would stay there again.
The Perfect place to beside Santa Monica beach. Very friendly and helpful staff . Great value , highly Recommended.
Great price and location
Location is key for this hotel. It is a very easy walk to Santa Monica Pier! Great Mexican and Italian restaurant across the street. Awesome park right next door. Its a classic older hotel and we loved it.
Not luxury, but good value for money, measured against market.
Wonderful spot right next to the pier and beach. Loved the separate rooms and large bathroom. Locked gate code keeps out just anyone. Very comfortable stay, we will be back!
This place was great. Service was excellent. Very clean. Walking distance to the beach. Finding this gem helped us find another gem… Mel’s. Definitely staying again.
The carpet and sheets smelled funny
Old vintage building, service is so so. Location is great. Parking is a ripoff, $33 a night! TV didn't work in our room and was never fixed. But if you are on a budget and want to stay in central Santa Monica, this is a good option.
Close to points of interest in the city
Good option if Price is Right.
It was a good option for the price given its location. The room was a good size for a short stay. The bed was fine. The portable AC had a challenge at times.
Great staff
Hotel room was adequate, felt unsafe in the area and wouldn't recommend going outside after dark. Unidentified screaming on the street was very unsettling.
Broken AC, unsafe, deceptive upcharges.
Do not stay at this hotel. There is no front desk service. We were greeted with homeless people on the steps, bars on the window and a broken AC they said they would fix but never bothered to show up. There was no phone in the room. The emergency phone to call maintenance r thr manager was missing the receiver. They refused to discount the room and charged me $100 over the hotels.com booking quote. They charged for a parking space and then put someone else in the spot the second night and refused a refund. Terrible.
Comfortable enough & good location
On website it says parking and breakfast included but that’s a lie
Day away
Staff was great room was small parking small no handicap rooms
Lovely clean motel just across the road from the pier and many eateries. Great location, lovely staff, freshly decorated rooms which felt light and airy
I was given 2 rooms that had no air conditioning that worked. We tried 2 rooms. When i went to tell therm again, i was ignored and told through her door to go away. I have COPD and could not breathe and my son thought he was going to fax have a heatstroke. We tried sleeping outside in our convertible but too hot also. I tried to call him from Saturday to this evening and they keep hanging up on me. I had panic attacks all weekend and my son almost had heart stroke. I tried going to officesaturday night ahd some Asian security literally told me to go away that they were doing nothing to help us. I was told i would get a refund istead thru charged be an additional 100 dollars for a room we could not sit in much less sleep in. This has caused me my days wages today since i could not slept all weekend and the same for my son, he had to go to the hospital todayand also lost a day's wages. He was severly dehydrated. Do not book a room at this hotel, trust me I'm still in shambles. Also spent 3 hours on phone with my credit card disputig all these charges from them when they should be paying me for their negligene and our pain and suffering for this horrible experience . As of tonight still gettig hung up on when i call THIS IF THE WORST PLACE AND THE WORST CUSTOMER SERVIE YOU WILL FIND. THIS IS A ZERO START HOTEL.
Nice room, very noisy
The room was cozy and comfortable. However the walls are very thin. The gate for everyone to get in always slammed hard and you hear ALL the traffic. So if you don't mind that, you'll be fine.
Great location. Although no where to sit except for the beds.
We are pretty self-sufficient & didn't need pool & a bunch of amenties so Ocean Lodge was perfect for what we needed- it was clean with super helpful & friendly staff, onsite parking (altho tight) & great price for the location. Sooo close to the Santa Monica Pier, 20 min walk down the beach to Venice & Third Street Promenade shopping a short walk away. A little noisy because of location but it's a busy area. Our room had a queen bed in a small room with a door then King bed in main living space. It worked out really well for our family. I would definitely stay here again.
The property is run down and looks way nicer in pictures. It has a smell to it and the staff is unfriendly and it dose not work to accommodate handicapped guess, do not book here
Central but very pricey
Good location, comfy place to stay in, historic as well. Not worth the huge price tag though!
Everything was good for our stay. We loved the location and had no problems with staffing/cleanliness. Only issues we had was 1 of the remotes had multiple buttons not working, not too big of an issue. The doors don’t close on their own so 1 day we thought we closed the door but when getting bad the doors was open. Last 2 things were there were big spiders on the light as we was walking up to our roo, the bedroom’s door wouldn’t close because of the bed. If the bed was pushed towards the wall it would close perfectly. Over all non bad issues that we were upset about.
The room was very nice. The office hours were too limited. We could not access the water dispenser when the staff was on a meal break during open office hours.
Hidden gem in Santa Monica
I love my stay here! The location and customer service in this hotel was amazing; especially Maricela. If you need anything reach out to her.
Parking was a big issue I had to park on the lot next door
walking distance to beach shopping food.
Not enough cleaning personal , room was not cleaned for 2 days , Nice personal at the office let me use microwave and a room to teach an online class as room hasnt enough space and there are no gym or work area Noisy , bar live music next door , small tight parking ,
Just the parking thing was troubling but other than that I visit it again and I recommend it. Thanks
The hotel is one block away from Santa Monica Pier, which is perfect. The parking access is narrow, so be careful. The hotel room was clean and looked way better than outside, for sure. We're surprised at how nice our hotel room was.
It was supposed to have a junior suite and they do not have one on the property. Offered one room inside the other which never will be like a suite. They are lying. Parking at the property is only available for 7 cars since there is not more space available; however, they offer outside parking in the space of the city nothing related to the property. They charge a lot of money for nothing to offer and there are better places for less money.
My husband & I visited for only a night while our grandkids were there for 2 nights. The rooms were very clean, tastefully decorated and conveniently located. The beds were very comfortable & the bathrooms were great, not cramped at all. We loved walking through the nearby park & visiting the nearby pier. The hotel was within walking distance of several restaurants & retail shops. The staff were friendly & helpful during our stay. We would definitely stay at the Ocean Lodge Santa Monica Beach Hotel again & highly recommend to other travelers!
Place was very close to pier, beach and restaurants. Was clean like there were no bugs but when you look at details it wasn't THAT clean. Front desk was very nice and helpful. Oh and the room we stayed in had no locks on the windows. We were on the 2nd floor, but it was still a bit worrying not to be able to lock the windows. It was a good stay but I don't think I would stay there again if I didn't have to.
The place seems freshly renovated and very very clean. Walking distance from the Pier and restaurants.
Just a block away from Santa Monica pier and nice food options within walking distance
I liked the vibe of the room for what we got. I know the area is expensive but I feel like the room was over represented for what it was. Given the cost for what it was, next time I’d stay in LA and just come in for the day.
Terrible parking situation.
Excellent vintage Motel. Very comfortable and clean.
great location
We stayed for 6 nights, a family of 4. Great location, is super clean, friendly staff. I highly recommend this place.
The hotel was clean and cute. Great location, with easy access to the Santa Monica pier. Lots of great dining close by. The staff was warm and welcoming.
Good stay close to Santa Monica pier.
a
Love this place. Retro, clean, my kind of joint!
Clean rooms, close to downtown Santa Monica
Close proximity to the pier and downtown Santa Monica shopping. Room was clean and well taken care of. Not a luxury hotel but was affordable and good overall for the price!
Staff was ver friendly and helpful. Clean, comfortable rooms in a great location!
Nice place!
I liked that this was very close to the Pier and the boardwalk area. I didn't like that it was more of a Motel than Hotel. Bathroom Window never really closes so all of the street noise come in, as does the wind on a cold evening.
Property was extremely old and in poor condition. Loud crowds cursing and yelling out behind rooms until 4am. Charged $33.00 to park on grounds. Very unfriendly staff that barely understood English. Could have easily stayed in much nicer property for less $$$ than this place. Advertising was very deceiving!!!
price
Location is perfect; near the beach without the beachfront price tag. Check-in easy, staff very hospitable. Love this place, which is why I keep coming back!
I will start off by saying that the walking proximity to the beach & pier is awesome and worth staying here for a more “budget friendly” option compared to other near by hotels. I would probably stay here again. The rooms were clean and comfortable. The girl that was handling check in/out was nice. Some of the downsides of this hotel: The AC unit in our hotel was leaking. Within it being on for 30 mins, it created a puddle on the floor between the bathroom & bed (which was a small space, big enough to just barely walk through). We brought this up to the front office and they only offered two extra towels & to turn off the AC when not needed/out of the room (mind you we were there during a heat wave). The towels soaked very easily & it was annoying to have to walk over a puddle every time we got out of bed or tried walking to the bathroom. The parking lot is extremely small. We had a SUV and so did the other few people who parked there. You have to pull in your space all the way forward or else other cars can’t go through the small driveway behind the parked cars. We barely had enough space to open our car doors. While on our last night, the car parked next to us actually got hit knocking off their tail light. There is a city parking lot right next door that you can use for half the price of the hotel. But one night, we heard two parties getting into an argument because one backed into the others car- so either way, parking is very tight.
The location is great. We stayed one night. It’s an older style hotel, but fun and less expensive than many other corporate hotels.

It’s so expensive compared to the service
