Great option for Queenstown

The hotel has been recently refurbished to a very high standard. Apartments are spacious and comfortable. Our only gripe was that cleanliness could do with some improvement. The basics (e.g. toilets, sinks, kitchen bench etc) were all pristine, but the deeper cleaning had significant room for improvement. For example, the floors were sticky, and most of the window and mirrors had streaks, fingerprints etc.

Fantastic apartment with brilliant view. Very poor parking and lack of communication prior to stay regarding this.

I have regularly stayed at Oakshores in Queenstown since 2010 and it’s my No1 choice of where to stay in Queenstown . Apartments are very large and beautiful views of the lake and mountains . Our apartment was recently refurbished and it was very nice . The staff were exceptional especially with the check in . Nothing was too much trouble . There is currently some building works going on but our unit was very quiet and parking was provided on site .

Currently in construction/renovations, made for a not very nice stay. Misleading information regarding the parking lot.

The room and views were amazing. The building happening next door makes access a little challenging, however once through check-in and in the room it was great.

Beautiful room and views short drive from town

This property was amazing and the staff were all so helpful. It is being renovated which was very clearly advised at the time of booking. The obly impacts of this were - less parking, no on-site restaurant and uust a bit of a less inviting entry from the road. Once you are in the carpark it is great. The room was clean, spacious and had stunning views. We stayed in a penthouse and would stay again when we are back in Queenstown. Good sized rooms, great wardrobe space, large bathrooms with heated tiles, good sized living area, coffee machine and wonderful daily house keeping. Location wise the views are amazing, driving into town is quick and easy. The path at the front allows walking in to town easy and the bus stop close by made getting to the snow (remarkables) straight forward.

The staff are very helpful and friendly. The apartments are lovely, pretty clean and tidy. The only downfall is the construction at the moment with the larking very tight and the use of a traffic light which is very very very slow. Overall pretty satisfied though.

Friendly welcome from reception. Our unit was tastefully decorated, very clean and well maintained. Good undercover parking. Disappointed no spa or restaurant available.

Currently under refurbishment Altho this wasn’t a major but something to be aware of. Noisy fan in 2nd bedroom that goes all the time is very annoying & led to very broken sleep. No aircon so bedrooms very stuffy as no windows. Outstanding views, beautiful, well equipped rooms.

It’s good view and nice apartment. Don’t expect any house keeping service. If you have no expectations of fresh towel and amenities set everyday; or dish washing service then you are fine.

Stunning views and great location.

Very nice property, amazing views indeed… close to city and they offer a shuttle service to and from the CBD which was an excellent option for us. Room is very clean and equipped with everything we needed.. kitchen and bathroom are both spotless. Nice and friendly staff.. construction is still going on but didn’t bother us at all. The only downside is Parking which is a big problem due to ongoing construction, but apart from the parking issue, we enjoyed our stay. Will be back for sure

Beautiful property but due to construction, parking was inconvenient and messy. Last issue was bed, very old with no mattress topper,had dips where guests have slept. Needs replacing to match with Beautiful decor of rooms

The view of the lake was beautiful… Not having a restaurant, or even a place to buy some snacks was terrible… The hotel is having a new area built with more units… But some arrangements should be made for food… For such a quality hotel… Even smaller, lower, rated hotels, have some type of snack bar… Very poor decision by management to not have anything

Beautiful view but disappointing housekeeping

We booked the lake view sub Penthouse about 8 weeks prior to arrivals via Hotel.com. There was no mention about ongoing renovations. So when we arrived, half the hotel and carpark was under scaffolding so access can be hard if you don’t have a car. If you have a car, you need to pre book a carpark (quite narrow and steep to get to) otherwise you will have to park elsewhere which may be inconvenient. The reception area is really small and chaotic if more than 4 people around for check in due to renovations. The room itself ( 2 bed and 2 bath apt with a spectacular lake view was gorgeous and spacious. However because of the renovations - the bedroom views were all facing the construction site so the curtains were closed during our 3 night stay. Housekeeping - this was disappointing particularly for a premium apt/ room. There were dead mosquitoes/ insects on the bathroom windowsills and also bathroom tops. The windowsills had a layer of dust. The next day we asked the reception about housekeeping and they had to check whether our room included housekeeping !!!??? - so check when u make the booking. This was included but when we returned that evening, our room / apt appeared half done eg. Dirty towels removed but not replaced, new pillow cases placed by bedside tables, dead insects still on window sills!! The location was great and I cannot fault the quality of the room/ apt with its finishings and comfort of the beds.

The room and view were amazing . There is construction going on but this did not impact our stay again. We wished we could stay longer.

Good, not great.

Goods: New, very clean, good staff, restricted but good view, every day cleaning. Bads: Not so convenient for those who want to walk to the streets. The block 2 is all new construction but the rooms were not sound proof. The family next to our room was extremely loud. Their kids were playing and screaming throughout the day until midnight. The two separate units had a common door in between that was locked. And the neighbour's kids would try to open the door every now and then. Why would newly constructed units would have a common door in the first place? It's overpriced

Brand new. Large spacious unit with full kitchen and washer and dryer. Perfect location with a nice 5 km trail along the lake that connects to downtown Queenstown.

Constructure around the property. The noise from next room.

It is a difficult assessment - this should be and I am sure that in 2025 it will be a great facility. For our stay the rooms are very nice, new fittings and bathrooms, however with no air conditioning. Our first room on ground level had a door we could open but we didn’t feel safe leaving it open to anyone who may come in while we slept, the second room didn’t have a door only a couple of small windows that only opened to 10 degrees with insufficient air flow to cool the room. The third room had a door and balcony and we were finally comfortable sleeping. We had expected a bar and restaurant both of which were closed for renovation. There was nowhere we could charge an electric car. The staff were great and did all they could to ensure we were cared for. I will ask if the renovations are complete before staying again.

Avoid this hotel if you want a relaxing stay.

A very disappointing and frustrating stay. Dishwasher not working, housekeeping does not do a good job. Room is still dirty. Bedroom lights keep switching on and off on our 4th day while I am trying to put a baby to sleep. Had to get pack up and transfer to a different room with a sleeping baby. Phone not working in new room. Despite reporting all of this no action from staff. Poor communication and staff. Construction everywhere. Dust and odour from construction as you walk to the room.

Worst hotel I have ever stayed in ' I wish I could give them zero. Specially for their customer service. When we booked in, there wasn't anything on the website regarding construction that is happening at the hotel which blocks the lake view. So you will not have the view that it is advertised on the website, expedia, or other booking web. Also instead of relaxing you have to put up with constrution noise. There is nothing like house keeping. You step in the room around 5pm and you don't even have clean towel to take shower. When I called the reception , she said you have to come up to reception and pick up the towels. After we got back to the room around 8: 00PM, house keeper only made the bed, rubbish and dirty towels on the floor. Not even emptying bin. Launges and furnitures are so dirty snd old. They keep saying to everyone that our house keepers are busy. Not good enough when you charge almost $800 for two nights Read less

Really disappointing accommodation. Check-in was delayed by 3.5hrs with no communication at check-in, until we asked. The room hadn’t been cleaned properly, there was food under the couches, on the kitchen floor and there were crumbs all over the couches. On day two there was no hot water, and during our stay they ran out of towels.

Overall good enough however the bathroom area was quite small with limited space for toiletries for 2 people. Also no sink or microwave in the room and we were disappointed that they failed to supply us with fresh towels after our first night there.

Booked a room for 4 nights, when checking in I got told that we had but upgraded for the first night but had to check out at 10am the next day and recheck in after 2pm to another room - they seem to not be able to take a booking from a third party. Additionally, they have construction going on where power tools start at 7:30am, so you’re unable to sleep in past that time

Great location with unbelievable lake and mountain views

It was exactly as promised. Photos were a true and accurate representation of the accommodation and the views. Staff friendly and obliging.

The suite was very spacious, with amazing views. The only downside and depends on where the suite or room is. I.e 1004b s the road is very noisy. Trying to find a parking spot was a challenge. Staff are friendly, it’s a nice 30 min walk to the centre of Queenstown.

Heating was set a bit high and couldn’t see how to control it in the room.

Very disappointing we had to keep asking for room to be cleaned. We where staying for 8 nights and room was only cleaned once.

Freshly renovated, great facilities, shuttle service into town. Some renovations happening at the moment that didn’t really affect us. Will be back again.

We stayed in a studio room our first stay which was lovely. Perfect for an overnight stay. When we returned we stayed in a one bedroom apartment. The view was spectacular, it was very roomy with kitchen facilities and a nice fire. However some of the furniture was damaged and needed replacing the shower over the bath badly needed to be updated.

Million dollar view

An amazing spot to stay with family in queenstown. A couple of small issues on check-in that were quickly resolved. Otherwise a very pleasant stay and the free shuttle to and from town adds great value! Would be happy to stay there again.

We did not receive what we booked. Instead of a king bed we were given two singles, no hot water in the room and the hotel is currently undergoing construction and was noisy and covered in scaffolding.

Cute hotel close to the water with plenty of parking and short drive to downtown area. They have a shuttle that runs from hotel to downtown area from 4-11 pm. Room was spacious and clean with nice views. I would stay here again

Very disappointing

It's a constuction site! We booked a terrace room where "actual view from room" photo is hugely misrepresentative. Despite the partial lake view in the photo, all we could see was a construction site. The doors at the front of the room provide the only natural light, so room was dark and depressing. Website states that the construction "will present little if any disruption to hotel guests" - it's not unbearable, but this is laughable. Construction continues until 2025 so be warned. NZ has staffing issues in the hospitality sector, especially in QT. It's unfortunate, but it's not going away so it's important that hotels set expectations correctly with their guests. This didn't happen. We were told that the rooms would be serviced daily, but it only happened for 1 in 3 days, leading to bins overflowing. We were told that the restaurant would be shut but the bar would be open - the property is ~30 minutes from QT by foot, so this was important as the bus service is also unreliable (staffing issues). We found that the bar was closed on some days without warning and was unable to open all evening. I raised all these issues with the staff on site, but they're unable to do anything about it and I was told to email the GM who could help. I did this but one month later, I still haven't got any reply. If I'd known the construction/staffing/amenity/customer service issues at this property before I booked I would never have stayed here and I recommend you find somewhere else.

Very disappointed

I was really disappointed. Room was booked as a twin room but not set up despite me contacting and confirming with the hotel two days before we arrived. Took 4 hrs to convert a king bed to twin beds. Room was stuffy, view blocked by construction, staff ineffectual. There was no restaurant nor food onsite. The free shuttle to the centre of Queenstown was good.

The locality was good. The hotel was full and we were pit in a room with no view, little daylight and standard even though we had paid for a 1 bedroom lakeview room. When we went back to reception after seeing the room we were told that when booking we need to make it clear that we want a lakeview room! We told reception that we selected a lakeview one bedroom hotel room and paid the extra rate for that room. After checking the rate we had paid they told us they were full and they could not give us a lakeview room for at least 2 days. There was no air con and it was extremely hot. We had no servicing of the room. they managed to change us to a 2 bedroom lake view room but one bedroom was locked. The room was lovely but the reception manager told us that they were giving us a very nice room as compensation for the first two nights in a standard room! Really, well we had paid for 7 nights in a nice room and got only 5 nights! We had to check out of the std room at 10am. We arrived back at 3.15 pm to be told the other room was not yet serviced and to take a seat. We waited 3 hours and still no service. We lost our patience and had a few words with the manager who serviced the room herself! other guests were the same. We had no room cleaning for the entire stay and we had to get our towels etc and empty stinking rubbish that had been left in the kitchen bins!! There was no apology. No refund and we were expected to thank the hotel for a "nice" room which...we had already paid

Sound proof was not so good

We had an amazing stay at Oaks Shores Queenstown. The room was clean and spacious. Location was great! Would definitely stay here again

We had the 2 bedroom lake front. The view from our room was breathtaking, room was clean and easy to access. Even though we were told the hotel is short staffed at the moment we didn't have any issues with house keeping. Overall an amazing place to spend our holidays.

It’s ok. But I won’t be back. The property has nice view and by the lake. It’s not much of service tho if you are looking for an apartment with service then it won’t be this. The housekeeping didn’t do a good job. They didn’t clean any dishes, didn’t take the amenities away when we finished and left it where they are and just give you a new set everyday. The bathtub drain was very slow and the bedding wasn’t made properly everyday.

The excellent location of the property was marred by the renovations of one of the main buildings, which obscured 1/3 of the view from our room & has made many of the parking spaces unusuable. Parking is a very major problem - if returning after about 8pm there was a good chance of having to park a 5-10 min walk away across a very busy road. The advertised restaurant was closed, meaning that either dining out (with consequent later parking problems) or staying in & cooking were the only options.

Good 2nd room.

Quality clean room. Barely any view partially blocked by building site. Wanted unserviced room but not given option. No restaurant. Not great location. Poor wifi.

Room was terrible with no AC, we visited during summer and the room was like an oven through out the day Service was very bad, one of the lady at front desk was so mean We stayed at Penthouse and it has several stairs to climb up and there was no Elevator and No staff to help, only good thing was views from the room Overall it was a terrible experience

The location was good, a 25 minute walk into Queenstown or a 5 minute bus ride (when one turned up). The views stunning and the staff very helpful and eager to please. The room was good but we were located on level 1 which was at the bottom of the building complex which is situated on a steep slope to the lakeside. Not really an issue but restricted our views and we were there for 9 nights in total. Overall, I enjoyed my stay and would stay there again but I would request a room on an upper level.

Queens Town break

A great 2-night stay - idylic location on the lake & shuttle available to Queenstown eateries. Room very comfortable, quiet& clean.

Old wing is dated and leaked due our stay. New wing is nicely furnished but lacks attention to details. The TV is positioned so high you can’t watch tv from the lounge without getting a sore neck. The bath is great to look at but there’s no easy way to get out and is a hazard. Staff did their best and their vulnerabilities are felt by the guests too.

Slight hick up on check in with our room but Rachel, the Duty Manager, sorted it out quickly. Spacious clean rooms. Great lake views from bar.

Great location, close to town while being quiet

Our stay here wasn’t great. We booked a room with a supposed lakefront view but sadly didn’t receive this as a building in front under construction was in the way. Central heating was quite warm and no A/C available, we asked if it could please be turned down but this was not an option so ended up sleeping with the balcony door open overnight. Very understaffed (which is not their fault of course) so hotel couldn’t provide full room service daily which was quite disappointing. Service at reception wasn’t too bad and the staff were easy to deal with, good amount of parking. Overall this place isn’t too bad if you’re looking for a basic room to stay in Queenstown but not as nice of a place to stay as portrayed on the booking site, slightly disappointed as we paid a decent amount for the room.

We arrived at the oaks to smiling friendly staff who were helpful explained everything to us about our stay with them including letting us know that there restaurant was unavailable due to lack of staff but as I found out that was happening everywhere in Queenstown at that time due to a huge increase in people and visitors into there area and flu/Covid etc.This did not stop oaks hotel and resort from offering the best service to us even went as far as to add a special touch to our room by personally writing a happy birthday card to me and placing it in our room with chocolates.How lovely and special it made me feel thank you to your amazing staff for going the extra mile.Cant rate this place highly enough everything is well done clean our room was a hotel studio we had a lovely view of the lake whakatipu from our king size bed.Our room was located right up the top of the entrance with parking out front that we could park in.But parking is not reserved first in first served basis.They run a shuttle to the city centre for customers at set times which I thought was brilliant we never used it as we had a car rental but still lovely if you want to check out the night life do some exciting stuff in the city centre and get picked up after shopping perfect.We had everything we needed nice warm room cozy underfloor heating in bathroom wifi,cutlery etc,shampoo ,conditioner,soap,all those things you need for a comfortable stay towels etc replaced daily with coffee and tea and milkpods

Room servicing - non existent

We were extremely disappointed to arrive and find our twin room was a king. They wouldn’t change us even though we showed the booking. They said the problem was with the booking agent (wotif) so we needed to take it up with them.

Staff were good. But no room service stayed 5 night they didn’t change sheets or made our bed. Never vacuumed the room. No microwave in room to heatup food.

Over priced and Over rated. We paid an average $700 per night! Poor to useless internet - if we were there to do business we would have been screwed! Lack of amenities within the room. We had to call at 3pm to ask if our room was going to be cleaned... We will never return here.

Location and views was amazing. Parking was insufficient - too many cars for parks available. Milk was sour and bed was advertised as king yet was 2 x single beds pushed together and big grove in middle - not pleasant

Best part of our stay here was the staff. Even though they are short staffed (like all of Queenstown at the moment) they were so friendly and accommodating and went above and beyond to make our stay as comfortable as possible. Room was nice and big enough for our toddler to run around and up and down the hallway (2 bedroom room).

We booked a lake view 1 bedroom apartment. Very spacious, very clean, beautiful lake view, large balcony with table for 6 people, furniture very comfortable, everything you need in kitchen, washing machine, dryer, ironing board, iron, bathroom big and spacious. Absolutely loved our stay at this hotel. I highly recommend to any couple or family. Thank you especially to the lovely staff at reception. Very professional and friendly.

Check in was professional and helpful. Making your way around the hotel is quiet confusing until you get your bearings. Driveway rather steep-but it is Queenstown after all!

Spacious units, well appointed, great view

Great staff and service. Really disappointed in the View. The view that we were sold on was a view of the lake from the room, but the view we received was a wall and construction. The construction team also blocked the entrance to the parking often, it was a little frustrating. The Wi-Fi was terrible, it dropped or disappeared constantly.

Our 2 bedroom lake view apartment was very nice and exceeded our expectations. The view was amazing, it was warm, comfortable, and huge. It had everything we needed including laundry facilities. We didn't get disturbed by the construction at all. The staff at the front desk are helpful and were pleasant. The only negative that we really disliked and would warn others about is that they have a 1 bedroom hotel room basically attached directly to these apartments only separated by 1 thin locked door between them. The soundproofing between these rooms is terrible! If you get noisy guests in that little room you can hear everything, especially from our bedroom 2 which is directly opposite the door. If you get quiet guests or no guests in that little room then this apartment would be perfect. We would only come back here if we were guaranteed no guests in that little "A" room attached to our apartment.

This property was not good value for money. The scaffolding was an eye sore and is not stated it’s under construction when booking. The walls are paper thin and the next door occupants were loud all night. It was clean but just a bit disappointing.

We had booked a normal hotel room. We were then taken to look at both the hotel room and an upgraded loft with a view which was lovely! They upgraded our room for a very low price which we were so pleased with. The room, the view, the lounge and kitchen were all perfect! The reception staff there are so welcoming and helpful. 10/10 would highly recommend!

The room was tidy and a good size with a view of the lake (although very small view) however the room was dark due to such a small window of light. The room was quiet as we had no guests next to us but when guests walked down the corridor it was very noisy, luckily the guests on our floor were considerate, but I could imagine this being a problem if they weren’t. The bar was only open short hours, there is no room service and the vending machine was broken so to get even a drink of water outside of bar hours is impossible. There is no spa, swimming pool or in room air conditioning however the radiator heater and under floor heating in the bathroom worked well to keep the room warm. Good parking close to the room. The staff were friendly.
