It's not a proper 5 star hotel. The rooms are small, staff is not friendly enough for the price. If you ask them for something during buffet breakfast they point their finger to the location.They saw us with all our bags leaving the room and no one offerred assistance with concierge. I'm not sure where to stay given it's almost a top tourist location but I wouldn't stay again.

Located very close to where all the cruise ships dock in Istanbul and in the heart of Karakoy. Convenient location to get to other parts of Istanbul. Room looked a bit dated but was quite functional. The rooftop bar was a nice place to grab a drink with a view of the Bosphorus.

We loved this property for the excellent breakfast and comfortable rooms. The location is excellent with lots of dining and shopping options in close proximity.

Our second time staying at Novotel. Lovely lobby area Breakfast is good and worth it. Galata port, Karakoy ferry terminal and restaurants all within walking distance.

Nice hotel well located

The property and the area is very nice, clean and safe. What i didn't like was our room on a couple of occasions not getting done till late afternoons.l, especially if you are doing tours throughout the day.

The staff at the front gate and desk were very kind. The hotel room was clean. But two women in the loft-top restaurant were a little bit unkind and misunderstood in English.

Great location! Breakfast area/ environment was superb. Wish that there were more hot menu for the breakfast. Services were very much below my expectations, given the price and level of the hotel.

Room was small with no night stands. The spa was excellent with massages and Turkish hammam. Beds are comfortable but the sofa was not. Will not repeat staying because the room was too small for the price I paid.

Excellent location, I assure you cannot go wrong. The Galataport building is right in front the hotel and you can spend all day there and you get amazing views of the Bosphorus. 10/10

Avoid - Above a club, bad staff, and airport far

Supposed to be one of the best in IST- far from. The overview is that this hotel has some of the worst service (not just in Istanbul, but generally). The front counter staff are often always too busy (not really busy, just looking busy) to acknowledge you. The Staff in the restaurant for breakfast give little to no care about you (often looking like they would rather be ANYWHERE else). The Staff in the lobby actually 'huff' when you ask them for a dink/service. Then top all this off, the backside of the hotel is built on a bar/pub. If you stay on floor 1 or 2 (maybe 3) you will be above an actual club. Heavy base and noise until 2/3am (weekends). Insane. When I asked staff (at 1am) why they would book me in a room above a club, I was told there was nothing they could do, full hotel (clearly not). Its an hour to get to the airport (or from), so the honest view is don't hit this hotel at all. Sure its clean enough but the staff and noise make it a no-go. For the price point, there are MUCH better hotels in this city you can stay at. Especially if you are on an overnight layover or just there for a weekend.

They gave me a room for the first night which was too noisy, and I could not sleep they told me thet did not have any other room, and they said the oud noise goes on to 3:00 AM

Nice location and rooms were OK, but staff was not always helpful and I was charged for the room by them even though I already paid beforehand. Will be a mess to sort out. Also I later found out the rate they charge for the airport shuttle is about three times the rate of using alternatives.

Not the greatest stay

We only stayed one day since we were coming back from another country…Great location but the hotels require better cleaning of rooms, hallways.…we like the location since we had stayed at the JW Marriot in Bosphorus but this Novotel hotel does not compare at all with the Marriot property

Great stay

We found the hotel to have an unforgettable rich diverse breakfast on the rooftop with a beautiful view over the Bosphorus. We had a marvelous time overall in the hotel, I am really glad to have chosen this relaxing hotel in Istanbul.

Very nice stay in a clean comfortable hotel. Breakfast is on a lovely rooftop. Options at breakfast were limited though in my opinion

Air conditioning was not working. Called twice and finally maintain an r person came. Despite that room temperature was the same.

Total disaster and major, never ever seen before after so many years of traveling around the world, such a self ruling decision making and absolutely no hotel protocols followed or that they even ever existed from the management! Must shed light on the border line deceit and con artists techniques the hotel manager uses on travelers! Just saw my credit card additionally charged for absolutely bogus charges ,way after I have completed and paid in full my final bill obligations and had my trip completed and I have returned to US ! What a shame for such a non-professional and non acceptable behavior! Such a pathetic, disrespectful and disappointing experience with the management of this so-called 5 star establishment ! No way , respectfully!

only hotel where they made me wait to do a checkout, for certifying mini bar content in room is intact. they gave me a ‘city view’ room and within shouting distance was a busy street with noise till 1 am.

Big Price No Service

Room allocated initially was horrible and had very poor reconditing and dirty smell. On insisting managed to get the room changed.Service overall horrible despite contacting the hotel no senior manager tried to contact or improve the service .Decided to change hotel Highly not recommend.

Great sightseeing base- amazing hotel

We booked Novotel as part of a longer trip travelling around Turkey. It has been our best stay so far- we slept as if we were in the clouds. The staff were very helpful and always happy to assist with a smile, true home away from home. We used the gym also which was great. We opted for no breakfast option due to so many restaurants in the area but if you have a chance to have lunch or dinner on the rooftop- the hotel restaurants has very tasty food and decor is also beautiful. All sightseeing is walking distance from the hotel but also easy to take a taxi across the bridge.

We absolutely loved this hotel. It’s in a perfect location with an incredible view of the Bosphorus. The train and public transportation is a short 5 minute walk away. A few steps from the hotel is great night life and restaurants. And across the street is a huge shopping outdoor mall, right on the water, with tons of shops and restaurants. We will definitely be staying here again the next time we visit.

Getting a taxi from the hotel was the hardest problem and we had to walk some distance to find one ourselves.

The hotel is fantastic, in a great location and does not feel stifling. There was a small mixup with the airport collection at Istanbul and the reception desk were very pro-active to solve the issue, paying for a replacement taxi themselves. Overall the hotel is excellent value for money, and very welcoming. The cleaning staff were extremely friendly and the room were immaculately clean.

Night stand is too small… liquid bath gel difficult to use without small towel or loofa…

The rooms are dirty, the pillows not comfortable, I took the junior suite and I got a small suite with a very bad view to ceilings on the same floor, and the walking distance to the room is very long

Unfortunately, you can hear other guests in the hall and in their rooms. I really found the hotel to be very noisy and it was far too easy to hear the conversations and noises in other rooms and up above and below my room. I was on the second floor. Pulling out the key card to control the power which is done by the housekeeping staff causes multiple issues. You think you’re charging your phone and it’s not being charged because the housekeeping staff has pulled the power in your room. The other problem with pulling the power from the room is that it is connected to the Internet. The hotel has apps on the TVs so you can log into your Netflix or prime or Disney account etc.. When the power is pulled from the room, this disconnects from the Internet and causes a technical problem where you have to call someone to come up and reset the Internet for the TV. I recommend that the hotel not pull the power to the rooms and or disconnect the TV power from the power in the rest of the room. I also recommend that Instructions be left in the room so gas can know how to reset the Wi-Fi themselves rather than having to rely on hotel staff to do this. Another issue was that a lot of the food items in the dining hall were not labeled so this causes north Americans to sometimes put things on their food that they think are sauces or things like ketchup when they are not. This causes a lot of waste of food when people do not know what they are eating.

Mainly had Bathroom issues. Bathroom sink had the most faul smell coming out of it. Bathroom shower would not drain.

Great location in the port area . Lots of great new shops and restaurants in this new development. This area is up and coming and is a good place to walk to all the attractions of Istanbul . The hotel is pretty basic but has a fabulous roof restaurant and bar and a really good breakfast. The staff pretty good but we had a problem getting taxi on busy Saturday , the staff were pretty unhelpful and told us to get an Uber. Would stay again as the area is lively and buzzy. Istanbul is fantastic and there is so much to see.

Great location at Galata port ,no sea view .I ordered superior room ,apparently its standart room and very small despite the fact u payed extra .Interior design isnt spesial or authentic.

It is not very clean. The staff is not helpful. The main asset they advertise is the rooftop cafe with a Bosphorus view, but cruse ships dock in front most of the time, completely blocking the view of the Bosphorous and Sultanameth. The waterfront walkway is very nice when there are no cruise ships. There is much work going on around the hotel, so, it will be much better when it is all done.

This property was on front of GalataPort which is one of the highlights of Istanbul. Close to everything. Tram, Ferry, pretty much all transportation. A few mins away from amazing restaurants,bars, etc.. The staff in the hotel was amazing. Especially our room cleaning service "Nebahat" as well as "Mehmet" from the restaurant for the breakfast. 5 out of 5 stars to both of them for sure. Great place to stay, I wish i was on 5th floor instead of 4th since i was there for 5 nights on an executive room. Next time...

The area is so beautiful. We had a great view facing the Bosphorus and the old city. The restaurant is on the top roof. Even better view.

The location is perfect! 2 minute walking distance to Galata Port best restaurants, 5 minute walking to distance to port where you can hop on to a water taxi and have access to the asian side and the islands. I love the modern ambiance of the hotel. The pool and spa was an oasis in itself!

Very new and lively location. There’s a lot of happening places to eat and shop. The hotel was actually so nicely maintained and the staff are so friendly. Most of the staff speak English as well. Overall had a good experience with this hotel. Will definitely go again if we go to Istanbul again

Short Istanbul Visit

The location was perfect for going around the Karakoy-GalataPort area and across the old City. Had some minor issue with my rooms shower. The water temp. would suddenly get very hot them in a split second become cold… they moved me to a bother room upon reporting the issue…
