Wonderful boutique hotel right by the palace park in Kyoto. Cute bars and restaurants in alleys, all in walking distance. Great breakfast and cafe, attentive staff. Amazing rooms with designer touches. Thank you!
Great property, price and staff. I will be back and highly recommend this hotel.
Great service and spacious rooms
The air-conditioning unit had black mold on it. We requested for it to be cleaned and were assured by staff that it would be, but it was never cleaned. There were times we had left rubbish neatly next to the bin to be cleaned when the room was cleaned and the bin was full, and everytime the extra rubbish wasn't taken. We ended up disposing of our own rubbish instead. There was maintenance taking place on the day we were meant to check out which meant that no late checkout was available and that no electronics such as the toilets or the lifts would be working. This was incredibly inconvenient and led us to check out a day early and move to a different hotel. Overall, we were highly disappointed with the service and cleanliness at this hotel and would unfortunately not stay again.
Lovely hotel; conveniently located
Great location. Lovely hotel steps from Marutamachi subway station. Good hub for buses also. Comfortable walk to sights (Nijo Castle, Kyoto Imperial Palace). Extremely clean. Quiet, spacious room. Wonderful breakfast. (The only alternative for breakfast in the area was MacDonalds; other restaurants opened much later.) Helpful staff. Our family of 3 adults (2 parents & 1 adult child) had a room with 2 twin beds + bed sofa. Unfortunately, the bed sofa was too hard to sleep on, so our daughter used 1 twin bed while we shared the other twin bed. We had an extra duvet on each bed for extra padding. It was doable.
The staff was very helpful and friendly
Excellent location. Nicely appointed room, albeit a bit small.
Group stay Great location
Very quiet and intimate
Very nice property and friendly staff.
All good nor near tourist attractions
Lovely Hotel
Perfect Stay in Kyoto.
Large comfortable rooms with nice lighting and amenities Loved it all EXCEPT that they never made our beds, which was off and annoying. They ask guests to leave a card on the bed if you don’t need to have your linens changed to conserve on water etc but they would tidy up (ish) and literally ignore just making the beds nice. The rest was great though And the breakfast was very good too
Nice clean and quiet, no onsen.
No netflix
The hotel is absolutely gorgeous and the breakfast in the morning is very very good. My only complaint is that there is no common area where you can sit. The lobby has one small seating area but I felt like the hotel needed something more where people can chill and use their laptop. I think there was a coworking space in the ground floor but it was closed off for everyone.
Staff are very nice and helpful and the rooms struck a good balance between “western” and more traditionalist Japanese aesthetics.
Beautiful hotel ideally located!
Can used a few small updates
Wow...just wow. Thank you Noku Kyoto This hotel is new or very recently renovated. Clean, big and quiet room. Great free breakfast, which saved us alot of time and money on our trip to beautiful and fun Kyoto. Hope to come back, and stay here too. It was really a good deal.
Room and staff were lovely
Great clean modern and friendly staff
Friendly staff. Spacious room. Close proximity to everything wanted to visit. Highly recommended.
Lovely hotel in great spot
This was a great hotel and inexpensive in a quiet street right over the road from the railway station . Breakfasts were good and I would stay here again in a heartbeat. Large room and very comfortable bed. Plenty of affordable restaurants close by and convenient store next door.
Clean Friendly staff
Food is great
Great staff. Beautiful property.
Fantastic location right beside the metro. Easy to get to, quiet neighborhood a stones throw away from the imperial palace (free). Full king bed which was a luxury!
Great access to the Marutamachi subway (literally next door!). The entrance was less upscale than expected, however once entered, have a mostly 4-star feel. We found it a bit on the darker side in both decor and natural lighting. Elevators were very small. However, professional and helpful staff. Room was VERY clean and presented a more traditional Japanese decor references (like a samurai art piece in a display case in our room). Great details! They included good quality complementary products like non-drying body wash, shampoo and conditioner. As well of incidentals that you may have forgotten like toothbrush, individually wrapped both cloths, etc. Had a nice coffee and tea station. Large room 2-twin beds room! Mini fridge. Comcast tv for watching Netflix, etc. We stayed 6 days! Very comfortable and quiet. We recommend this hotel based on location, room size, cleanliness, and helpful staff.
Well considered extras like hairbrush, washcloth, robe, daily water and snacks. Did not like offering or service in restaurant—staff ignored us and were rude when we tried to get their attention
This is an overall great hotel. We liked the central location a lot, easy access to subway, many sites, but more importantly it was spotless! Excellent hot water and water pressure. Our double room was spacious and we had everything we needed. Service was top notch. The entire team was friendly and helpful and very prompt with any of our needs. We wouldn’t hesitate to return.
This hotel was fantastic! Clean, room was large, very nice location with easy access to food and the metro. The imperial grounds are right across the street for beautiful morning walks. Highly recommend!
It was great! Staff and service were wonderful
Wonderful location and property, buses and train station steps away to connect you to the entire city of Kyoto. Staff was extremely helpful!
Great hotel, full of Japanese details in the room, very spacious, complementary mini bar was nice to have. Few hotel amenities and the restaurant breakfast menu is limited, other than that, it was fantastic and I would stay again. I wish the staff would offer the VIP perks.
The location is perfect, close enough to everything but far enough to not feel as busy. The staff is very accommodating. They do not have heat in each room but will supply a space heater if needed! The meals are worth paying extra.
Love the esthetics, simple beauty of the hotel and the spaciousness of the guest room. Especially loved the location to the train stations next door to the hotel. The in-house coffee shop is excellent too!
Very nice room; spacious. Very clean and front desk staff so helpful and welcoming. Great location for riding on public transportation.
Very clean. Right outside the station. School bus bakers down the street was fantastic. Room was clean and very comfortable. Great value.
Great position next to train station.
Very nice hotel right next door to the train station and bus stops are close by. Lots of great local eateries nearby as well. Try and get one of the back rooms as the street facing rooms get a lot of traffic noise. Staff are friendly and engaging. We would stay here again.
Staff was extremely helpful and accommodating, rooms were spacious considering the area, and amenities were nice to have (free water, soft drinks, and snacks)
Absolutely amazing! Can’t speak highly enough of the hotel or its incredible staff!
Comfortable, cozy, and quiet
The staff was very friendly and the room was clean and comfortable. Overall, I was very happy and am glad I stayed here. I was traveling by myself and I felt very safe. It was easy to hop on the subway from this location or take a taxi. I was just surprised that there was no air conditioning in my room. When they brought me to my room they mentioned the switch for the heat. I inquired about the a/c (especially since air conditioning is listed under amenities). He said no a/c, just heat. When I was surprised, he asked if I would like a fan brought in. I said yes and he brought it. With the fan on, I slept well. It was quiet and comfortable.
Best hotel Noku.
Very nice designed room and close to subway and kyoto imperial palace. All staff members is service oriented super nice. Coffee restaurant 1st floor Coffee was amazing. I am super picky for my Coffee. I when to all noku hotel and all have exceptional service and rooms and good environments. Love it.
Very good
Very clean, great ambiance, very friendly, right next to the subway entrance to get anywhere in Kyoto
Recommend for Kyoto
Nice hotel. Good sized room with all amenities incl cast capable TV. A bit of a walk to central Kyoto but subway is convenient...literally outside hotel. I would certainly stay hete again.
Excellent hotel, very friendly staff, great location. We are happy we picked it!
Staff was wonderful, area has lots of restaurants, bars, and cafes. Got the room upgrade for my gold status, too, so it was a perfect stay.
The hotel location is good, next to Marutamachi Station subway (Karasuma line from Kyoto station). Next to family mart. However, a little comment about the VIP credit of JPY1100, the front desk should explain more on how guests can utilise it. I have returned the credit without enjoying it.
Hotel is next to train station, bus stops, restaurants and also to some tourist spot such as imperial palace. Hotel is very clean and eco friendly. Staff speaks english. Breakfast is great however, options are limited.
Location: Super convenient as just above the metro station. And near to bus stop to attractions. Room: Very spacious including toilet area Staffs: Excellent staff who can speak bilingual English Food around the area: Very limited choice compare to Gion area. If you have a full meal before heading should be fine Overall a excellent hotel which will come back in future.
Calvin Nguyen
Quiet area but still close to shopping, restaurants and sightseeing places. Staffs are very professional and nice. Really happy staying here.
Easy to check in, location is very convenient. room is quiet small compare to other hotel. If you are travelling with family and kids, may not be the best option around.
We did not like the breakfast as we expected a buffet where we could choose our breakfast. There was a set breakfast of 5 options including curry. I like curry but not for breakfast. As we stayed 13 days the variety of meals was bit challenging !
Really a first class hotel with a large, well-appointed room, generous amenities, professional and thoughtful service. Right on the Karasuma line with easy access to Kyoto Station and the whole Kyoto ansportation network. One of the nicest hotels I've ever stayed at. Imperial Palace across the street. I highly recommend. Thank you!
Unfortunately breakfast included is not great for stay of more than 2 days as it was the same choices everyday of my stay.
Great find!
Great location right next door to train station. Great recommendation from staff at front desk who assisted us make bookings for a restaurant to try Kobe beef - even made the call on our behalf in local language to ensure we had reservations to preferred seating. Good spacious rooms with modern amenities.
We were only here for one night, as we spent a previous night at a traditional Ryokan in Kyoto. Overall, the hotel room is fairly large compared to other rooms we stayed at in Japan. The location was also convenient as it sits on top of a metro stop, which can take you directly to Kyoto train station. The metro stop does not have an elevator easily accessible at this stop, so if you're lugging a lot of luggage, I recommend taking a taxi from this metro stop.
Beautiful hotel, great location
Very nice hotel with a good amount of space. Service is excellent and everyone speaks English even when you try to say something in Japanese. The restaurant is excellent with good prices and it’s next to the train with lots of food around. Great location to get around Kyoto.
Very nice property with friendly staff and clean rooms.
Out of the 3 hotels we stayed at our Japan trip, Noku offers the best value. The location is fantastic. Very convenient to all the places we planed to visit. Room was very nice. Even the mini bar was complimentary with the snacks. The staff was very courteous and helpful.
Lovely, modern hotel. Great location!
Beautiful hotel. Wonderful service and location.
An excellent choice for my first visit to Kyoto. Close to a subway station and a bus stop. Very friendly staff. Lovely room with everything I wanted in it.
Lots of eateries around. Right above subways. In a quiet neighborhood. Strong recommend this hotel.
The property was walking distance from historic sites to visit, close to restaurants and local trains
very crean,comfort,nice.
Property is close to subway, imperial palace, nijo castle. Breakfast is fine and you have the option to switch it with lunch. My only beef is there's no laundry in spite of expedia showing it as included
A clean and new hotel with a good location just next to a train station.
I loved staying at this clean and safe hotel with knowledgeable staff.
I like that my room have sun at least for 1 hour. However, I didn't have. Anyway, the facilities looks good.
The staff was very nice and the location is conveniently located next to a subway station. Overall, great experience!!!
Location is great and a lovely stay and hotel. Suggest pre booking restaurants in you’re looking to dine in the local area. Some variety in breakfast would be good however totally adequate.
Excellent hotel
Great hotel located above a subway. Very safe and very comfortable. Staff have prepared notes on how to get to major attractions
We arrived early n checked in early with free room upgrade!! Really appreciated Noku kyoto
Best hotel I’ve stayed in Japan and this is my third trip. Staff friendly and extremely helpful. We stayed in a superior king room and it was huge compared to other Japanese hotel rooms. I was pleasantly surprised and all the major attractions where walking distance from the hotel. It is 4 stops from Kyoto station but the hotel practically sits on top of the station. Don’t hesitate and book this room you won’t be disappointed.
Kyoto ? Stay at Noku, it was the best
Staff was exceptional, very helpful in directions to all the sights we wanted to visit.
Very nice staff. Clean, quiet room. Excellent location
Very well located for transport. Personable staff. Comfortable bed and pillows in a spacious room
Well located very near the Imperial Palace and close to subway and buses, as well as restaurants.
Front desk fully prepared with printed material for locating places of interest and a schedule of tv broadcasts for World Cup matches. Excellent location for public transport. Good size room well serviced. Good value for money. Breakfasts good but lacked wide variety.
Fantastic bedroom, large and bright and great decor
This hotel was beautiful, very modern and clean. It isn’t the quietest hotel, you can hear people in the hallway and you can hear the crossing signals and trains all night long. The staff were a little less friendly than other hotels we have stayed at, and at breakfast one morning we were each given toast with a croissant (table of 4) and then 5 minutes later when our cooked breakfast was brought to the table another staff member made us hand them one plate with toast and croissant back as one meal was not meant to have one - this seemed very weird and we sincerely hope they did not then pass this on to another table.
Noku is literally right next to the underground exit which is really close to Kyoto station. The staff were friendly and able to provide us with information we needed. Hotel is clean, comfortable and in everywhere excellent. We didn't use the cafe or bar so couldn't review those but extremely happy with the hotel.
The staff were excellent help for us in navigating Kyoto. They got us dinner reservations at wonderful places.
This hotel is great for visitors. They even provide a smart phone so that you can make calls and search for locations. It is really convenient for international travelers.
Pleasant staff. Beautiful room which was spacious and very clean. Toiletries, inc toothbrushes, hairbrushes, flannels provided. Tea, coffee and Japanese snacks in the room with a fridge. The Imperial Palace and gardens are across the road. There is a McDonalds, convinence store and chemist on the same road. We left our luggage following check out so we could continue to explore. Subway station next door. Taxis are hailed outside very easily. Be aware that a 200 yen cover for each adult is charged to your bill.
We checked in and found out that the reservation was for two people, even though we are a family of 3. The staff was very gracious and changed our room to a larger 3 beds room without charging us extra. Beyond that night, the staff was very informative and helpful with all our questions and demands. I can't say enough about the amazing staff at this hotel. The hotel does not have a restaurant and hence does not provide room service; despite that, because of the amazing service provided by the staff, I highly recommend this hotel.
Nice location next to the Imperial Palace and Marutamachi subway station. A convenience store and McDonalds are also next door. The location is slightly out of the busy city areas.
Fantastic property and the staff were the best! They went out of their way to help and to accommodate our needs .
all was great, but even though there was plenty of room our room, they would not bring in a rollaway bed to accommodate the 4 of us.
If I could I would give this hotel 6 stars. Everything was faultless.
Great room. Really nice amenities. Room facing the road can be noisy
Service was great and the room was clean. Free minibar and snacks was a great plus!
Very nice hotel. The room is quite large. Very Japanese style.
Nice Hotel for Short Visit
Very nice hotel and good service
Pros - Directly adjacent to JR railway station & Family Mart convenience store - Walking distance to Imperial Palace (across the road) & 15/20 minute walk to Nijo Castle - Only 20 minute walk or 2 train stops to main CBD area - Clean, modern interior of hotel - Self laundry place & full supermarket 10 minute walk - McDonalds opposite and cheap Japanese food chain next door also Cons - Limited onsite amenities and food options, however plenty of options within walking distance - Not super close to the action of Gion / CBD district if that's what your after Overall, I would consider again if travelling to Kyoto again but would also consider something else in city centre for change
Wonderful front desk staff that was very helpful. Room was very clean and modern. Location not great in terms of restaurants but metro a 1 minute walk away.
Amazing stay!
Amazing stay! Such a beautiful place to explore and enjoy the onsens. The staff and property are simply wonderful.
Gorgeous hotel with a large room perfect for our family of 4. Drinks in the minibar were included as well which was a nice surprise.
