Noisy if room face main road
1 night stay in November. Easy walk to old town, lots of restaurants close by. Only complaint would be the noise level. Hotel construction in the day and the bar underneath at night (till quiet late). Perhaps that's why there is complimentary ear plugs?
Very hot rooms
The room size was great, very spacious. However there was no air conditioning, so at night the room was boiling. You couldn’t leave the window open due to the noise outside. The service was ok, but on a number of occasions, the receptionist was not at the desk, so you had to hang around and wait. Not sure if we will return.
Like many such NH hotels, it is based in a old, venerable renovated building, but with all the unique external features kept as they were. Try to get a room with a balcony, since the life in the square outside is always worth sitting and watching, and often entertaining (if you are travelling alone, I recommend Room 107...).
Comfortable stay in Utrecht
Comfortable stay in a great location. Everything you need for a good base to explore beautiful Utrecht
Come to Ultrecht
Cordial and professional check in. The room was clean and comfortable.
The hotel is in a good location, and the price was reasonable. However, on arrival, i was told the lift didn't work (not a big deal), the room was half the size advertised (certainly not 25sq m, more like 10 to 12), and the bathroom smelt of drains. Only staying one night so didnt kick up a fuss, but i wouldn't return.
Affordable, and ok location
It's a cute hotel, I like the location, very centric and in a nice area, some side of the hotel has nice views but other sides have ugly views. The layout (hallways, doors, lobby) is a bit strange, but not a big deal in my opinion, what is a big deal is the noise from downstairs, they didn't take care of this issue, thin glass on windows, not sealed, etc. There is a restaurant (not sure what business) nearby, and the employees were making a lot of noise, we struggled until 2 am, I get it, they are just working but I would assume that the hotel would take care of these types of issues with thicker glass on windows or soundproof, two tough nights.
Property was easily walkable from the station. Close to lovely historic area and restaurants. Our room was well maintained and clean but quite small. The view from our room was terrible, all we could see was an air conditioning outlet and a wall. No view of the area
My room had a terrible smell of sewage all during my stay. I had to buy room deodorizer, which didn't work; then toilet sanitizer and odor control. Finally I bought bleach to pour down the sink and shower drains every day, which did work, but I had to do it everyday, twice a day. Location is fantastic, hotel is good, staff are good; but sanitation needs to be addressed.
Very comfy bed. Helpful staff but had to ask for room to be cleaned. Had choice of free drinks or room service! Heating was very erratic so either cold or woke uke up baking hot. Very central to old town. Rooms quiet with some noise and under door light spill from corridor. No food, no breakfast, no cafe nor restaurant available. Loads of places to eat nearby and excellent coffeemachine in room. Great power shower.
It was ok
Great location
Great Location
Quick trip with a Dutch friend to Utrecht. Hotel is in a great location near all of the bars/restaurants but still peaceful. It's a beautiful old building but has been modernised so that not much of the 'old' is evident. Rooms are very comfortable. Only drawback is the reception area is really small and gets very crowded at check in/check out times and there is nowhere to sit if you want to get any work done. There are two restaurants in the same building but independent from the hotel. Would stay there again.
The accommodation was simple, clean and comfortable. Staff friendly and helpful. NH Hotel is well positioned, very close to the centre of Utrecht which is great but if your room is at the front of the building, it can be noisy at night.
Utrecht trip
Enjoyed our stay at the NH Central hotel. The room was on the small side but perfectly adequate. The hotel is located about a 20 minute walk from the railway station and is close to Utrecht’s historic streets and canals. There are numerous restaurants, bars and cafes. The hotel does not provide breakfast but I would recommend either Cupp or Anne and Max which are a few minutes walk away. Would recommend Utrecht for a short stay about 3 days is ideal.
Great location, great staff, comfy bed
This Hotel ideally situated
The hotel is ideally situated in the centre of the old city and hence great value for money, I would stay again. The down side, the room needs refurbishing, the shower head was not attached properly and the TV didn’t work, these took 2 days to rectify. The AC didn’t cool properly and was not fixed, this wouldn’t have been a problem but the windows do not open and it was oppressively hot in the room. Receptionists and staff very friendly and nice, I would return to this hotel if only for the price and location.
Great hotel, wish there was a way to get airflow, was sometimes stuffy at night.
Utrecht center gem.
Great location, close to everything in Utrecht.
Character
Excellent location. Staff extremely helpful and friendly. My only complaint is cleanliness. I don’t think my bathroom was cleaned. There was a bit of mold in the shower and dust in areas.
Dated room. No breakfast service available. Good position.
Nice place, noisy rooms because of the garden in the back of hotel. When they open the roof you feel like you live in the moddle of a noisy market
Conveniently located hotel in the heart of beautiful Utrecht. Friendly and accommodative stuff and comfortable beds.
A lovely hotel. Very clean and right in the centre of the city
Comfortable and convenient
My stay was comfortable and the location convenient. The concierge was rarely at the front but accommodating when present.
Very good hotel in a very convenient location
The location is very convenient, in the city centre. Staff are excellent. Getting a free drink coupon for each day you choose not to have your room serviced is a nice touch. The beds were quite hard, but apart from that, everything was good.
The bathroom was not clean and tv broken
I had a great time, location is fantastic , short (just 15 min) walk from the train station and right in the middle of the old town. Nice specious rooms, clean bathroom, great staff, a lot of food options in the area. i highly recommend this hotel.
Hotel staff was excellent!
Bad housekeeping
A well located and sensitively designed modern hotel in an old building. Comfortable and friendly. Ideal in most ways for an independent visit. But a sloppy attitude to housekeeping marred the visit, with beds minimally made. Sloppy and disappointing.
A wonderful stay in the heart of the old city
A wonderful stay, right in the Center of the old city near the Dom. The room is small but we’ll furnished to a high standard, only the shower cubicle needs some refurbishment.
It was in the heart of the city, close to many dining options and not too far from the train station
Awesome location, great staff, nice view from the room. Quite clean rooms and nice amenities. Parking was close by. Cant ask for more.
Misleading. Wouldn't recommend
Booked a double room with "courtyard view" but was instead allocated a room at the front of the hotel which is right next to the main street. The noise and music from revellers outside meant that it was near impossible to sleep before 4am (when the noise and music finally subsided) on Saturday and Sunday. And even on Monday night, there was music/noise outside until approx 2am. One of the two power sockets in the room was broken so we had to take turns charging with the one remaining power socket. There were no USB sockets as the hotel seemed pretty old. The thermostat in the room didn't work and there was a draft coming from somewhere, which meant that the room was almost always cold. No extractor fan in the bathroom = condensation after every shower. In addition, the double bed was actually two single beds pushed together, so if you're a couple looking to snuggle up at night then one of you will be sleeping on the divide in the middle. The only minor redeeming feature of this hotel was that the staff was friendly, but all things considered that's not much of a consolation. Would neither recommend nor touch with a 10 foot pole.
Weekend in Utrecht - delightful
Excellent position Lovely room and all very friendly
Average rooms
When we arrived the shower was completely broken. Thankfully they were able to move us to another room. The beds were very hard and uncomfortable. Staff was friendly. No breakfast available on site.
The hotel was not bad, although there was an unusual incident on checking out where the staff could not find my booking, then told me I had been checked out the day before!
Quaint Hotel
Quaint hotel located in central Utrecht, great for exploring the city and enjoying the local restaurants and shopping. The staff were extremely professional and helpful.
An excellent hotel for price paid . In perfect location
This is a fairly easy walk from the train station. The location is great and the staff are friendly. I appreciated having a kettle (with tea and coffee) and a fridge in my room. My windows opened onto the courtyard and the room was relatively quiet. The wifi was a bit patchy. I would stay here again.
Location was perfect, room clean
Great trip in Utrecht!
Utrecht is a great city and this hotel is right smack where all the action is with plenty of good restaurants close by. The reception staff is super friendly and always out to help. They even provide bike rentals to guest. Although there is no facility for breakfast currently, there is still pastries, orange juice and coffee available. A few specifics about my room where things could have gone south but didn’t. I was on the first floor over the restaurant and its terrasse - it is very noisy, the windows seemed like they were open and rattled when the buses passed by - I was unsure how this would work out, used the ear plugs provided and had no trouble sleeping! Unbelievable! The bed was also quite lumpy - I moved the pillows to the opposite side and all was ok. The shower was good, but if you are a little heavier, it may be tight. Lastly, the shower floor seemed unglued so it would make noise when I moved. I would recommend the hotel but better to get a room facing the back and checking the bed upon check in.
Artemis and Boris were very helpful and pleasant. They patiently showed us how to make an online appointment for a Covid test and gave us directions. Rooms were clean, but not well appointed. No bar soap, shower cap, wash cloths, and limited towels. Hotel was in a convenient spot for the cathedral, Dom, restaurants, etc.
Hidden charges
There were hidden charges or at least charges that I did not know. For example the parking was charged 22€. The price is not too bad but I should know that it comes with extra charge. I visited with my dog and also charged 25€. So overall I paid unexpected 50€.
Good location and excellent breakfast.
Great place
Great location, very nice service especially in times like Covid we felt safe, and were treated very well by all staff members
A convenient hotel in a beautiful city
The hotel was in a very convenient central location. The desk staff were friendly and helpful. We didn’t try the breakfast because it was so expensive. Our room faced on the street and it was intermittently noisy at night. My main dissatisfaction was that the bed was very uncomfortable. It was hard and lacked padding. We could feel all of the springs. The staff seemed uninterested in solving this problem when I asked for an extra mattress pad.
Wonderful Stay
This is a beautiful hotel. The location and room were awesome. I would highly recommend this hotel if you want to be in the center of everything. The staff was great. If you have a car to park, go to the hotel first for instructions. The location is off the property, but nearby.
Good, centrally located, comfortable hotel.
Comfortable hotel, good location close to central area and easy walk from train station. Staff were ok, were helpful if you asked but could be more enthusiastic or cheerful. Lots of restaurants and shops near the hotel.
Our stay was amazing. Staff was courteous, professional and informative about the area. We would recommend this hotel to anyone who wants a great place to stay in Utrecht.
Great location for exploring Utrecht. Staff very friendly and helpful and the adjoining restaurant is amazing.
It's an older building, but the cleaning could be better as we had found some areas that weren't vacuumed at all. Also, there was a strange smell on the sheets.
Great location. Location of car park could be more obvious.
The property was in a great location. It was quiet at night and the staff were all friendly. Will return again.
It is very central and restaurants/bars are in easy reach. However it is in a busy location and above a terrace cafe which is busy well into the night. Secondary double glazing in all rooms may assist although ear plugs are supplied with the room.
The hotel is basic, but offers everything one needs. The location is great.
Lovely hotel
Loved this hotel, location was excellent.
Great hotel and great location! Good farm to fork restaurant around the corner.
Pros: Great location as very close to centre. Reception staff efficient and friendly. Cons: Room situated above a bar/restaurant so very noisy at night. We went to sit in hotel bar one evening and were told we weren’t allowed to do so as it was for “lobby use only”....which didn’t make any sense to us, especially as it was virtually empty.
Good value, excellent location, very friendly staff.
Good location - friendly & helpful staff. It was very noisy on the first night but hotel more than happy to swap rooms for the 2nd night of stay.
the hotel staff are vety nice, but one thing i want to say that there is a restaurant on the first floor of this hotel. if you staying at the room just right above here which room will be terrible.
The hotel was nice and secure. However, I did not know the my room was located over a bar and that throughout the night, loud and unruly patrons exited the bar until about 2am. Sleep was not peaceful.
Central hotel in a university town on a Thursday to be avoided.
OK - for the price I was expecting better
Nice location, but our room was dark, located in the bowels of the complex, with a big carpeting stain at the door, and an impossibly small bathroom!!!
Excellent location in the heart of Utrecht. There are two restaurants in the hotel: a bistro and a street food place. Breakfast is excellent and hotel staff very friendly. The rooms are a little dated and there is some noise from the street.
We enjoyed our stay at NH Hotel. The staff were engaging and helpful. It is in a great location, very easy to walk to museums, shops and delightful restaurants.
Great location, room disappointing
Lack of cleanliness of rooms-dated Toileteries opened and used when checked-in, walls and tiles require refurb, dusty room, pearls on bathroom floor (previous guest?)
The NH Centre Utrecht has an unbeatable location for central Utrecht and the University; everything, including the train station, is easily walkable. The hotel has character but not a lot of frills, although the air conditioning worked VERY well (not something to the for granted in Europe). The hotel room I had was small but quiet and well-organized, and the staff are incredibly helpful.
Great location.. but that's about it!
We stayed for 2 nights and the staff were really pleasant and helpful, advising about parking, bars, restaurants etc, but they're about the best thing about the place. Having read some reviews I paid a little extra and booked an upgraded room 'with a view'. The view was over the square and church outside which was OK but not worth paying extra for. The worst thing about the room was the bathroom, which was so ridiculously small you could sit on the loo and lean on the basin in front of you! On the first night there was a strange vibration through the room floor, we couldn't decide what it was... maybe an air conditioning unit in the restaurant downstairs or something like that? Anyway we were too tired to go back to reception to complain. It wasn't there the following night, but each time a bus went past the building the wardrobes, fittings etc rattled. I appreciate it's an old building but it's definitely time for a little TLC. When we checked out we mentioned the size of the bathroom and the receptionist said that the bigger the room the smaller the bathroom so it's definitely not worth spending extra for a 'better' room!
Great location Good hotel if only sleeping
Room was very small. They had to put the chair for the desk next to it, otherwise you wouldn't have been able to walk between the desk and bed. Bathroom was also very small, shower was one of those squares where it's very hard to put your elbows up to wash your hair. I had prepaid for my room but provided my CC to authorize the 30 euros for city tax when I checked in. Overnight I got an alert that the person on night duty had authorized the over 400 euros I had already paid. The person at the front desk apologized, but it took 4 days for the authorization to come off my card, which is not okay.
Nice hotel in central location
Nice clean hotel, in very central location, easy 10 minute walk from the Central train station, plenty of Restaurants and Bars in the area, I would stay here again, next time I am in Utrecht.
Good location
Problems with the drainage, bathroom has strong smell of sewers between 3pm and 7pm most days
Well placed hotel
Nice and central in an old building close to the bars and shops in central Utrecht
late breakfast, small hot room, good location
Room very small, no view, noisy (next to maid closet). Hot room, no control. Breakfast starts late at 8am, so I essentially paid for nothing, leaving at 7:45am
Slow check in. Room noisy, at night. Heating being governed by aircon unit so kept kicking in and out.
Lovely little hotel, very well located and charming. We had a great time there.
Perfect
Right downtown Utrecht. Wonderful staff, excellent room. Right in the middle of everything. Will stay there again.
Great stay
Everything great apart from two things. Cold in the room and two single beds pushed together instead of a double.
Perfect place to stay in central Utrecht
Excellent location and very friendly, helpful staff. The room was very comfortable and was perfect for our stay. Given the central location, it was surprisingly quiet at night which made for a very restful sleep. The morning breakfast buffet was in the cute cafe/restaurant within the hotel. There was a vast variety of savoury and sweet foods to choose from, some of which were supplied from a local bakery. They also had a few gluten free options available which I found was very accommodating. I would highly recommend this place and would definitely stay here again. :) Thank you NH!
Noisy
Very noisy
Nice hotel in center of Utrecht
We enjoyed our stay at NH Center Utrecht. The location is fabulous, right in the center and close to all the stores and restaurants. The room is spacious, and the bed very comfortable. The only con is the bathroom, which is too small and without enough rack space. Some additional rack space would at least make it more functional.
Quaint hotel in the heart of the old town
Bit of a quirky place - front desk very helpful and the room cleaning staff were efficient and flexible.
Comfortable central hotel
Walked easily round the centre of town from the hotel- great location. My room to the rear was quiet and cosy but well equipped for a single room. Enjoyed our stay.
The room was very small and not very quiet. Ear plugs were left in the room in order to help reduce the noise. There was also construction going on in the building that added to the street noise.
We wouldn't book this hotel again.
Our experience wasn't so go at this hotel & we wouldn't go back. The bathroom was so small (approx.6ftX6ft) you stepped out of the shower into the toilet & when you sat on the toilet you almost hit your chin on the sink! The road was very noisy, although they do give you ear plugs because of this. The curtains for the window aren't wide enough so don't block out the light. The hotel overall is in need of a facelift, its shabby & a bit run down. The shower was leaking & the shower tap was broken so had missing buttons which made it hard to turn. On 2 occasions the cleaning wasn't done properly, including the bath being dirty with a lot of hairs when we arrived. We should have complained earlier but we were busy & when we did go down to complain the tiny reception area was packed. Also the car park is a little bit tricky to find, if the just emailed the car park address to you before you arrived it would make things easier because it is not near the hotel.
The hotel room was large, lovely and air conditioned. The area was wonderful, located in the heart of the city for walking. I did find the bathroom dirty; however, there was dirt all on the side of the toilet that was only visible from the tub. The receptionist was very helpful upon arrival.
Great Find!
This was a great hotel, with wonderful service, great breakfast, WiFi, air conditioning, and the location can't be beat. The location is right in the city center with shops and restaurants galore. It is an easy walk to the train station going through the mall. Everyone was extremely helpful. We will be sure to return on our next visit to Utrecht.
Great stay in Utrecht
My husband and I cycled through the Netherlands and were very pleased with NH Centre Utrecht. There is another NH Utrecht so do not be confused. Our hotel stay was great.
Nice hotel great location small issues
Hotel was very nice but I booked a standard room with a double bed but when I checked in I was told the only way to have a double bed was to upgrade to a better room for €20 more a night which appeared to be an issue between Hotels.com and the hotel itself but ended up costing me more money!
Very Nice Hotel in a Nice Location
Great location and easy to get around -Hotel clean, staff helpful and standard very high - great stay
Home from home in Utrecht
What a lovely hotel - location, staff, breakfast, rooms - this is a must stay in Utrecht
Great location and service.
Very helpful service from the staff. Great location and hotel has everything you need.
The hotel is pretty basic but comfortable and clea
The hotel is a good location and comfortable, but offers few amenities. The internet connection was very weak and I kept being disconnected. There is no way to print the boarding pass, but you can email it to the front desk and they will print it for you. Overall I think the hotel offers a good value for those on a budget.
Conveniant and clean hotel
Clean hotel, central, great breakfast, excellent staff
Disappointed
I've tried almost every hotel in Utrecht and Nh Centre was one of the few that i did't tried yet. Regarding the location it's one of the best if you aim to be close to the center. You have dozens of restaurants and stores and bars to choose from in the vicinity. It has free WiFi but like the Nh Utrecht it's real bad. I can't really understand how in 2016 these hotels still provide such a terrible WiFi service. The room that i stayed was clean but in comfort was weak. The bed is very small and too soft. Since the hotel is in a very old building the sound isolation is terrible and since it's on the center of the city it gets really noisy! Strong point is the breakfast (as usual in the Nh chain) a lot of variety to choose from and the Bus stop is just across the street. I'am an Nh Rewards Platinum member but in the check-in i didn't get any special treatment or offer which was also a down side in this experience. Overall i am very disappointed with the hotel and can resume it like this: If you are a tourist that is visiting Utrecht for a couple of nights and don't mind have some bad night sleep it's ok. If you are travelling in a business trip and arrive at the hotel tired and hopping for some quiet and comfort it's better to chose another place.
NH Centre Utrecht | Hotel in Utrecht | Travala.com
This is a very nice hotel in the centre city. The staff were nice and the room was exceptional. There is plenty to see and restaurants to chose from.
