Burkini not allowed

Stay was largely OK. But my daughter faced some discrimination when she went to the swimming pool dressed in a Burkini. She was somewhat rudely informed that she can only go into the pool if dressed in a more revealing swimming costume, which she feels is a discriminatory policy.

Old and run down

It looks great in photos but the hotel is rundown and needs some repair work. Things like lounge chair cushions being moldy and glass banisters being cracked. And there were cockroaches in the bathroom. The spa is over crowded and they allow kids which makes it very peaceful.

Did not follow instruction

Had no tv for 4 days wasn't up to its usual standards 😒

A very nice place to stay. Safe. When waiting for a meal at one of the resteraunts, we had to wait for nearly 1 hour before the food turned up. we ended up walking out and not having any food.

We stayed in this hotel 10 years ago and it was amazing for our 10 years anniversary we decided to go back, the hotel from outside still looks amazing, the room are still nice and clean and the view was amazing, the staff at the reception was really friendly, the downside is the beach sand was really dirty cigarettes in it stones and all sort of things, 10 years ago it wasn't like that, they shouldn't allow the customers to take food on the beach or around the swimming pool as it makes the place dirty like we seen some customers left a sandwich near the pool and it was full of flies, 10 years ago the had different clientele and the place was amazing, all the sun beds are the same as 10 years ago they are old and most of them broken. The breakfasts that we had included it was the worse one difficult to find a clean table,the breakfast wasn't anything nice and always the same ,the coffee from the machine is undrinkable. This place need to change lots of things clean the sand on the beach every day,stop letting people eat on the beach and swimming pool, not allowing to smoke inside the hotel, change all the sun beds, change the breakfast quality.

Good property but there were many customers walking inside the lobby with cigarettes. Otherwise, the staff are friendly and helpful.

Not a 5 star hotel by any means. Old rooms, rude and lazy staff, bad food. does not meet any international standards by any means and should definitely not have rigjts to be a movenpick hotel. Disappointing.

This is my second experience in this hotel. The staff is friendly but it is always too long to have access to the room! They have a huge problem of parking it is always full and they are asking clients to use another parking not owed and managed by them. Another reason why I will never go to this hotel, is the lack of renovations!!!

Awsome hotel

This hotel is what you would expect from the movenpick family of hotels. It is a large hotel but has lots of things to offer tourists. The rooms are spacious and do housekeeping twice a day although the evening housekeeping visit was a bit hit and miss. Bottled water is provided to your room whether you are all inclusive or just B&B. The all inclusive option has taken over the hotel which means visitors such as ourselves paying for meals and service were in the minority. This brings with it its own issues, such as different quality of drinks - for those paying as you go. Constantly having to reiterate that you were not all inclusive so you could get the good brands! Sabir round the pool and Kamal drinks water round the pool have got things all sorted round the pool. They gave excellent service and treated with a smile. The worst experience by far was breakfast where the waiters were a very unhappy bunch and took ages to provide you with drinks. The food at breakfast was excellent just poor service.

Would recommend. Luxury hotel. Good eateries. Nice rooms. Clean. Lovely setting. Difference between a 4 and 5 rating for me is that housekeeping could be better and some staff were not very friendly nor helpful (mainly front desk). Very good otherwise.

Wonderful stay- I only had breakfast but it was really good with a variety of local fare and international foods. Staff is helpful and the Spa is TOP NOTCH!

Horrendous experience overall

In no world is this a 5* hotel, far from it! The only 5* thing about it is the view from the terrace. Staff has such bad attitude, ESPECIALLY the security at the parking. Except a few people, namely 2 guys at the beach and 1 gentleman and a girl at the lobby café. The rest were equally rude, hostile and unprofessional to say the least. First Room was dirty, had hairs all over the place. Sink and bathtub were blocked. When informed, the guy changed my room, no apology whatsoever. Second room was cleaner but extremely noisy on certain evenings as it’s next to a nightclub, so loud music until 3am+. When I communicated this to the receptionist, instead of apologizing or offering to change the room, she made the joke that the nightclub is making a good ambience for me. Parking situation is horrible, always full! Not directly accessible from the hotel lifts. You have to walk out and take the stinky sewers smelling stairs. Not to mention the attitude of the guy at the entrance gate. The breakfast service was a joke, I go in all tables are dirty, i ask the waiter to clear up the table for me, he clears the plates and leaves the coffee cups, the paper mat and all the crumbs on the table. He didn’t bring the cutlery until i fetched it myself. I go to get some juice, no glasses. I go to get a crepe, no plates. No name cards on dishes. Other than that, furniture in the rooms was very old. And no food from outside is allowed which is ridiculous. Accor should tackle this asap!

Worst hotel I've stayed in

I am soo disappointed by my stay at this hotel. I didn't expect it to be as good as the 5* hotels in the west but this was way from it. Some of the key highlights: - you are not allowed guests in the hotel. - you are not allowed to take things from outside in to the hotel. I tried to take a water bottle in side and they took it off me. - the staff are really rude. - help desk is constantly busy so you don't get a chance for any assistance. I asked for an iron 5 times and still didn't get one. In the end I gave up. - when I got my room, it smelt bad like a plumbing problem. Went to the desk to get it sorted, they said they would check but nothing happened for the duration of my stay. I wouldn't recommend this hotel to anyone.

Looks like the best place in the area, beautiful beach, beautiful pool. I highly recommend. Have breakfast near the lobby, the downstairs restaurant is way too crowded. Make sure to visit the Sousse castle museum and the Roman colosseum in el Jem, also Carthage if you can 😃

Bad hotel

Bad hotel, the bathroom is full of water, there are also sounds of elevators. You cannot sleep. I spoke with the staff at the reception as well as the manager, and I explained the problem to them frankly. They are not cooperative. I do not recommend this hotel

Great location, in the middle of it all! Well maintained facilities.

Overall the stay at Mövenpick was average!! Nothing like any other Mövenpick . Some of the car park stuff were rude and unprofessional except " Chawki " whom was really helpful attentive and professional. The food at the restaurant was identical every morning for 14 straight days to the point my wife and i decided to go elsewhere for variety. "Ibrahim " was the saviour tbh : great service with a smile that made the breakfast pleasant.

The night clubs next to the hotel they close late and it’s kinda annoying but this hotel is the best in the aria.

Excellent property, although a mite distant from the medina.

Warning to Muslim women who cover up and want to use the pools, they will not let you in the pool wearing a burkini or your head covered. Looks like they are following the same rules as their former colonial masters the French. We had problems my wife was asked to leave the pool and she refused asking them to call the police and then 3 managers turned up and she still refused to come out. I saw them refuse other Muslim women refuse entry to the inside pool whilst being covered with swimwear.

The hotel service is always great. It was our first time staying here during the winter period. The only thing I didn't appreciate as much is going to the restaurant at the reception area for supper time. It is quite small with no table big enough for 6 people. Either 2 or 4 people tables. It was a bit awkward and tight during meal time. The food was great yes, just not as confortable as what we are used to or expect for this type of hotel.

Beach is not clean. Beach service is non existent. Personnel lacks sufficient training. Case in point, I asked a waiter for a lighter for my cigar he told me he doesn’t smoke and turned around!!! Asked for a 6pm checkout and even though there were plenty of rooms available, they insisted on charging us 20 per hour. Also threatened to charge us for a full night if we stayed 1 minute past 6!

The check in was too long. We had to check three rooms before we had an acceptable one. We did not feel like a valued Expedia elite customer. The food at the breakfast was very disappointing. It was a big buffet but the quality was not there. The beach was not clean a lot of plastic paper and empty plastic bottles on the sand. Also the Beach showers were malfunctioning. Only one out of three had water and the pressure was very low. Overall very disappointed by the hotel. I was expecting more from a five star hotel. Finally even though the hotel had rooms available they refused to give us a late check out to 6 PM. Instead they insisted on making us pay 20 dinars per hour.

Clean nice room. But i lost a significant amount of money from the room safe approximately 400 dinars. I didnt report it because i was told it is very difficult to prove. Also they gave a master key to the room safe i didnt know this. So never leave cash in a room safe.

Muslim swimwears are forbidden in the pools

Because Muslim women Swimwears are forbidden in the pools, I'm not that satisfied by the hotel. My wife went to the counter and asked if it would be possible to swim in the pool with Muslim swimwear, because she had a doubt. They confirmed it is forbidden.

A missed opportunity

The hotel could be one of the best hotels in the region but the service overall is not good. As a building and as a location, the hotel is amazing. Some workers are super friendly but others are really cheap, asking for tips to do anything. If you want to get a good parking spot, you need to tip people, otherwise they will tell you that they don't have any open spots. First few days, in the included breakfast, a bottle of water was given, in the last day, they stopped doing that (how cheap). Same for the chili paste (or harissa), they stopped bringing the good quality one and started bringing the cheap one. Same for cheese ...

It was a good experience as it is and I’ll definitely be back shortly and I recommend to anyone to go no doubt

Great location right in the middle of the wonderful city of Sousse! Loved the convenience and the liveliness of the area. Unforgettable!

The check-in process was a bit cumbersome as there were only 2 agents and there was a line of people to get through. Once at the desk my process was pretty smooth. There was also a small issue with getting my room cleaned the first day. The room attendant didn't show up until after 8 pm.

I visited the Movenpick Resort & Marine Spa Sousse with some friends from Tunis for the weekend. Check-in was chaotic: the last thing you want after a two hour drive is to stand in a queue for 30 minutes waiting to be given the key to your room. A highly inefficient process, made worse by other guests pushing in and staff not enforcing a proper queueing system. The rest of the stay was fine, and our other interactions with staff at the hotel were great, but this is not the kind of start you would expect from a five star hotel. Speaking to other guests, it appears that check-in was an issue over the whole weekend, so this was not an isolated incident.

Room had a nice view of the swimming pool and sea. Quite corner. Staff made a mistake on the checkout date and asked us to vacate the room after coming back from the beach early afternoon and had to explain reservation was still good for 3 more days. Staff checked and confirmed error on their side but situation was annoying. Also, hotel does not allow full body cover for women in the swimming pool so my mother could not enjoy it the entire stay. Hotel should make this rule available to read before booking.

Friendly staff and clean rooms. Room with see view was far from the sea and more in a corner with noisy AC below it, did not enjoy sitting in the balcony.

NOT worth the price, service was basic and not very good: rude at many times, no one spoke English. Checkin was delayed because they could NOT find my reservation. I would not recommend this hotel at all, sorry.

good view if you choose sea view room not very good service food is not good cleaners are ik and special mention for Najet the cleaner the pool is durty and there is not sufficient places for all customers i think this hotel don't deserve the money we payed.

The front desk staff is absolutely the worst ! The “managers” M. Tibi & Basma have absolutely nothing to do in this line of work. Extremely unfriendly, unhelpful, arrogant, zero sense of customer service & relation. So many customers complaints they simply do not care. If it wasn’t for them the property would be so much better.

Everything was to a very high standard staff were very friendly and helpful

1. There was no air conditioning very disappointed in a hot country 2. The children were only allowed to be in the indoor heated swimming pool for 1 hour when the outside pools were freezing but the adults were allowed in the pools for 5 hours. 3. The burkini being banned was a disgrace considering there is no reason to ban it and prevent people who wish to be modest from using the facilities 4. The rooms were not cleaned properly with ants everywhere all they needed to do was vacuum it and they didn’t do this

Not a 5 Stars Hotel but a Roach Motel

A huge roach in the bathroom, nothing works properly in the bathrooms and the room temperature could not be fixed despite several attempts. The management is horrible and the hotel is so poorly maintained with an overall quality of service and facility that makes this place undeserving of even 3 stars. My entire team and family blame me for such a horrible stay and now call this place the Movenpick Roach Motel, the one to avoid next time.

More like a cockroach hotel not a 5 stars

Second time to stay at this place and must say this has to be the worst 5 stars hotels I have ever stayed in and I have been to so many over the years as life time platinum with one of the largest hotel chains on the planet. There was a huge cockroach in the bathroom of one our rooms and all 3 rooms had all kinds of issues with the bathrooms i.e. not draining, nothing works correctly, including hot and cold water, and not very clean in addition to the rooms being very hot. The front desk manager did not even have to courtesy to come out and talk to us and we were simply patronized by his guest services agent who kept apologizing over and over but stated nothing could be done. The overall quality of this place makes it underserving of even 3 stars. What a sham and what a disappointment from a hotel claiming to be the best. This one is definitely off our list for good.

A hotel rip-off

We had a total of 3 rooms, a big roach was found in my bathroom and two rooms were too hot and the maintenance could do nothing about it, in addition to both sinks barely draining and the bathroom tubs were clogged. Overall, an extreme low quality and this hotel should be listed as 3 stars as best and not five. We feel cheated and we will never go back there.

We booked for our wedding night as a special treat.... We booked the junior suite with king bed but were offered a choice of twin beds in a junior suite or a normal room with king bed..... It was booked months in advance so plenty of time to forefil for our special day.... There were no little extras as promised and the check in was akward and embarrassing being asked many times to choose the twin bed option or the regular room while the booking paperwork clearly states what we had booked for, also wanting to see proof of the marriage which was only 3 hours earlier and we don't get the certificate for 10 days. All in all it has really spoilt our wedding day.

This is the second time I stay here and I am once again disappointed but this time it is much worse because I brought my entire family and some friends and they are all blaming me and asserting that there is no way this hotel is 5 stars as promised. Sadly, I agree for the quality of he place and some of the services are mediocre at best. This hotel is now off my list for good...

An osasis

Excellent accommodations and service, wonderful views and amenities.

Nice hotel in a prime location, many restaurants and shopping within walking distance. The area is very safe and taxis are easy to find. The hotel itself is nice and staff is friendly, sadly the rooms are very hot even after adjusting the thermostat, i had to open the balcony door on both of our room to keep a bearable environment. The facilities are a little dated but i can see some renovation works taking place. The restaurant La Villa was OK and the waiting staff was kind. Overall happy with my stay.

I like the location and the lobby but the roomand bath room is not up to 5 star standars.

This is an outstanding hotel with very good security at front and beach side. Rooms are excellent and housekeeping staff exceptionally thorough. All the right extra touches - bathrobe, slippers, exceptional quality bathroom, daily restocked room bar, complimentary teas, coffee and mineral water in room. Hotel exceptionally clean inside and in the garden, poolside areas and beach area. Breakfast room is of a very high standard. Relaxing atmosphere, background music, exceptional number of high quality food and drink choices together with friendly service minded staff. Very impressed. My only criticism would be that to attract more international clients to this outstanding resort the management should take steps to improve staff knowledge of English which was insufficient or lacking on a few occasions. This would be my only improvement suggestion. Room service was also exceptional in terms of both service and food and beverage quality. Staff, on the whole, had excellent communication skills and were turned on to the requirements of guests.

the hotel is nice and clean, rooms are comfortable and clean, pool and beach area are really good plenty of space and sunbeds, the service at bars are poor long wait to get served. I stayed bed and breakfast and the food was mediocre for this standard of hotel.The location is good and near shops bars and restaurants and taxis are available outside hotel.

Book the ‘Pearl’ instead...This isn’t 5 star !!!

This hotel is not a 5 star standard and hence I would urge you to consider the pearl hotel which is situated 200 meters away if you are looking for luxury. The sun lounges are left in the rain and are wet the next day ! The food is terrible and is not fresh. The staff are not interested and simply don’t care. The rooms are in desperate need of re-furb and lacking maintenance. They have a security procedure as you enter which I greatly welcome. However the body checker still goes off and no further checks are done. Overall a really bad experience and would certainly not stay here again.

The property is beautiful. It’s a really nice hotel but the services are different if you are from America. If you don’t purchase through a European agency, you can’t have the all inclusive bracelet and because of that, you don’t get the same service as the majority of the client. It is sometimes a struggle to find something to eat because of that. Employees are either very friendly, or totally antipathetic. The beach was dirty...

Quite and comfy room with a huge balcony and a magnificent view. Great hotel location close to the medina and with an amazing private beach. Large and sunny lobby with a 24/7 bar very quite and nice overnight drinks and chats. My overall experience was pleasant and I hope you'll enjoy it too.

Excellent hotel

I had a nice trip in this hotel with my family. The pool is big and good for young and elders. The access to the beach is easy. We had an excellent dinner at the Japanese restaurant of the hotel.
