Very comfortable property with friendly staff. Room was clean and well furnished. Would definitely stay here again.
Great place, fairly quiet being where it is. Always clean
It was very smelly
Had everything I needed, easy access to everything downtown
Clean and quiet.
Great place to stay if you are looking for a budget option in New West. Close to parking and is walkable to the main New West core and Skytrain station. Room was clean, with microwave and mini-fridge. Bed was a little stiff, and walls are thin...so be careful of "extra-curricular" activity. All in all a decent place to stay, and will stay again
It is an old hotel well kept and fairly clean! The elevator could definitely use an upgrade it’s very slow and creaky.
For the price, good Accommodations.
Always friendly helpful staff
Hotel is conveniently right a skytrain station which made getting around extremely easy. The downside to this however is that is is *right* next to the station, and due to frequent train arrivals it can become noisy at night. Hotel does provide us with earplugs though, which is a positive.
Friendly staff but the location was not nice. It is an old hotel and is noticeable. It is also in a very noisy area where trains will blow the horn several times at night. Also the surrounding is not very nice at nights.
This was a great place to stay with everything you need around the area.
Worth the money, stay was excellent
Older hotel with a lot of character. Our room was clean and comfortable. Staff was very helpful. Adjoining pub was excellent service great food ,priced right. Like other reviews noise can be a problem, but we just used some background music and everything worked out perfect . Area is alot safer then it seems.
No soundproofing and dirty in areas
This place is well below average. The place is not clean throughout I have pictures to show it. For what I paid and I understand that it depends on the deal you may find, this room falls below any standard. The view is over garbage cans and you hear the sky train as if you were in the station and you will hear the crazy people yelling and screaming outside because this is not a good area. There is no soundproofing of any type on windows walls door etc so you can hear absolutely everything so ear plugs are necessary here. The place is like a cheap motel in a grungy area and if all you want is to avoid sleeping in the streets this is good enough for you. The bed is okay the sheets are clean but the carpet is gross and so many areas have not been cleaned for months. The bathroom was clean the bathtub had stains all over but that may be more of an indication of the clientele which may be something you want to bear in mind as well. The area outside is awful, there is nothing & it's very grungy and I would not feel safe walking around in the evening but that's something you find in various areas in Vancouver these days unfortunately. On the plus side it's steps to Columbia sky train so you can go to Westminster where you can find places to eat shop etc. The sky train is convenient to go downtown & about 1 hour to the airport. The gentleman at reception was very nice but that does not negate that the room needs to be really properly cleaned throughout. CLEANED. Scrubbed.
Great hotel. Like others have mentioned the location is not quiet, but the same thing that makes it loud makes it convenient. So boo and yay for the Sky Train! Otherwise, great staff, comfy rooms. Id stay again.
Great staff.
Staff were super friendly the entire weekend and the room was comfortable.
Charming Hotel.
Charming older hotel, the staff were all exceptionally friendly and helpful! The rooms were clean and comfortable. It’s dated, but for the price that’s something that didn’t matter to us. It is RIGHT beside the sky train station which is why we chose it. For a quick trip, we would choose The Met again.
Kind staff, spotless room, awesome location!
I had such a great experience at The Met! I came for the Taylor Swift concert and every other hotel was crazy expensive. The Met was affordable and SO convenient! It’s right next to the train which I really appreciated (some people said it’s loud but I didn’t mind at all). Tons of cute coffee shops nearby. The room was dated but totally spotless! I didn’t need any fancy new amenities, it had everything I needed. The staff was really nice, especially the gal who checked me out. She chatted with me for quite some time and was so friendly, helpful and warm! Totally worth the money!
Fighting drunks outside at 11pm a angry delivery guy throwing flats of pop to the metal floor of his cube van from 4 am until 5 am after I went down and complained.
Old style spacious room, comfortable beds
My room was road facing and too noisy.
Great stay for a great price
As expected.
As budget hotels go it's what you'd expect and I'd recommend the Met. It's only for a couple of simple and cheap oversights that it's not A-OK. A heater in the shower room that looks dangerous, if it works, should be fixed or removed or simply an extra $10 lamp in the room, would not leave you considering what sort of manager would sign off on this.
Nasty!
I checked into my hotel the evening of November 17. The room was cold and run down. The air-conditioner vents couldn't be closed so the wind was literally blowing into the room. I had to put a towel and my luggage in front of it to keep heat in the room. The towel rack in the bathroom was also so rusty, it wasn't possible to use it. In the morning the sheets on the bed had shifted, revealing the severe staining on the sheets and mattress cover. I brought it to the attention of the front desk staff, and they stated they would deal with it immediately. I left the hotel for the day, and upon my return it looked like my room had been tossed. The bed side table was pulled out, the blankets were piled in the middle of the bed, and the stains still visible on the bed. At that point I felt unsafe staying there any longer. I informed the front counter that I would be checking out early as I wasn't comfortable staying in those conditions and was then offered to change rooms. I told them I would need to see the room before I agreed, and when they showed me there was not only hair on the sheets, but it was also heavily stained. I left on November 18, as I felt unsafe staying in a place that didn't take cleanliness seriously. The Hotel informed me that they can not give me my money back, as I booked through Hotels.com so I kindly would like a refund because they shouldn't be charging people to sleep on something that most wouldn't allow a dog to sleep on.
Clean room, convenient to skytrain, nice neighborhood
This hotel is perfect, so close to dining options and right near train access to visit anywhere in Vancouver. It's super cute, clean and comfortable
Charming, very old school. Still have key to open door. Very clean. Kinda noisy as beside skytrain. Charming as you can tell it is old but been redone. Very clean
Hotel staff are fantastic. This is an older building and I had no issues with room itself. The area the hotel is in is a bit sketchy at night. I had room on the skytrain side, noise didn't bother me as I can sleep through anything. If you are a light sleeper, this would not be ideal. Great historic building and great staff. But other reasons I probably won't be back.
Helpful and friendly at front desk. Unique 100 year old building, high ceilings, clean bathroom and bed linens. Economical price, yet all the aspects we like about more expensive, newer hotel rooms (clean, comfortable bed, clean bathroom and towels, coffee machine) with unique older style. Was noisy by the skytrain outside our window, but earplugs cancelled that out for sleeping.
It was a bit noisy with the skytrian behind it however it was overall a great place to stay.
It was conveniently close to Skytrain, however, sleeping that close to Skytrain was a bit of a challenge ;)
Location is amazing
Great for transit. Not much to do near by
Clean and quiet
Some weird bugs live in that place
We were tired so we didn't need the earplugs suppled by the hotel to muffle the sounds of the rapid transit. If you are a light sleeper, don't stay here.
I like that the building was connected to a liquor and pub. The food and staff were great.
It was fine
The history of the building...
People screaming outside the hotel at 4:00 am.
The pub next door has people on the sidewalk under the hotel guest room windows until all hours of the morning. Screaming, yelling and fighting till well after 2:00 am. The ac units in the rooms allow all the street noise in. Rooms and property are fine especially for the age of the building and staff was good however the lack of sleep every night will keep me from booking there again in the future. Maybe the pub- seems to be owned by the hotel should hire a doorman/ bouncer to keep that behaviour in check.
Was lovely big room with outlook across the river. Skytrain 2 doors down bar and pubfood next door. Interesting events on over the weekend we were there.
Unexpected parking fees. Advertisement said parking available. But it didn’t list the $20 fee
It’s noisy at night
The property is spacious and clean considering it’s an older building. Very close to bars and restaurants. Not like the smell cannabis in the streets though.
Very pleasantly surprised and well within costs.
We didn't expect much of a hotel in old New Westminster, especially on the main street. However, we were very impressed with this 'boutique' hotel and enjoyed our stay very much. It was only a few steps from the Skytrain station at Columbia which made it perfect for us. The price was certainly within reason for a greater Vancouver hotel. We elected to stay there because of the price and the convenience of the Skytrain. We'll definitely be back again next year before heading off on another cruise. Lovely woman of Ukrainian descent at the front desk too. Overall, well worth a stay in this lovely hotel.
The staff were friendly and accommodating. Rooms were clean and comfortable.
It is right next to skytra
Great value in an old building.
loved the old world feel of the property but felt a bit unsafe on the street level and was unsure about the parking down the block but in the end it was okay
Nice, clean and convenient.
Old hotel that still has metal door keys. Very noisy located next to SkyTrain station. Rooms dated, furniture old. Rooms were quite dusty (ceiling fans). Front Desk was friendly. Good pizza at bar attached to hotel.
It was great so far as my first accommodated
Vancouver visit
Old hotel, but convenient for our needs. Bathroom was clean and the beds were comfortable. The rest of the room furniture was worn. The chairs outside our room in a sitting area looked recently redone. The hotel is on a busy street and the back of the hotel faces the rapid transit line. The trains run all night. It’s a half mile walk to a restaurant for breakfast. Smallest lobby I have ever seen, but the woman on duty was very friendly.
The staff I met on arrival was wonderful and super resourceful. The hotel is clean. The actual facility is quite old, from the furniture to the bed, it is all quite run down and could definitely use an upgrade. However, it is affordable, clean and staff was really nice. There is a transit line just beside the hotel which can make it noisy throughout the evening, but also, easy access to transit...
There was a lot in walking distance however proximity to the bars made for very loud nights
The building and rooms are a bit worn and run down. They could use a deep clean and some investment of new fixtures The staff are good and very friendly
Staff very friendly & helpful.
Very nice hotel, excellent location!! 100% recomendados!!
An oldie but a goodie !!
Very nice stay at a reasonable price.
Hotel is old, outside is dirty
Staff was excellent. For a hotel in a older part of the city it was good. It worked for are stay(one night) just fine.
I like the building - it’s well maintained and the service personals are friendly and helpful !
Beautiful victorian style hotel. Definitely not a 5 star hotel but for the lovers of the victorian era, Beautiful architect, cozy feel, welcoming and quiet. Parking sucks but if you dont have to.worry about parking its great. You can walk to the warf to enjoy Beautiful views
It is right next to a Skytrain station which is very convenient to get downtown Vancouver and other areas. There is some noise from the train but though it was ok for me I might bring ear plugs next time. If you are noise sensitive then you may want a room at the front. Hotel price was very reasonable considering other hotels downtown at the time of year (mid-September)
Small property. Dated. Right next to train that runs all night. No parking on site so have to pay to park in municipal parking that is sketchy
What you're paying for is convenience. The location is fairly close to most attractions (I.E. Stanley Park or Granville Island) which makes travelling to those places easier. There is plenty of access to public transportation like the Skytrain or buses. However, if you get a rear facing room prepare for the bright lights of the skytrain station directly behind the building to illuminate your room at all hours of the night. Also, the beds are not the most comfortable either. The room as a whole was fairly average.
We have stayed here many times and love it.
Good location
Thank you. Affordable to stat there
Decent boutique hotel close to the skytrain
My go to hotel when I have to be in the city for business.
Not a place I would bring my family to.
Excellent proximity to transit, very easy to get downtown.
Old charm high ceiling with modern comfort. Only negative is the proximity to sky train which makes it very noisy.
Reasonable price hotel in lower mainland that close to sky train. Easy to get around. Only issue was the AC wasnt strong enough to keep the room cool.
Clean modern bathroom
Beds were comfortable, AC was noisy. Bathroom was clean
Has a great stay. Staff were helpful. The room was great.
Great staff. Noisy on the street side but that’s the price you pay for a pretty water view. No shower caps in the bathroom- that would be a big plus. Nice and helpful staff.
The overall stay was good. But it didn’t had parking options and also a bit of noise as there’s a train station right behind the hotel.
The place is very traditional but in really good condition. Clean and well maintained. The staff was friendly. The location was very convenient. There is a nice area by the river just across the street. We would definitely come back.
The people were very nice. Enjoyed the area.
Had a nice stay.
Very nice. Liked high ceilings.
The fan was very dirty and still had nicotine stains from when you could smoke. The calking in the bathroom was gone mostly. The shower head was too low and came out like a pressure washer. Still was comfortable and cleam. Nice location. Close to everything.
Good check in with Taya. She was very helpful and friendly. Pub next door served a good supper Room clean. Beds firm. Really appreciated that the air conditioning was turned on prior to coming.
It was very close to the sky train station. Large clean room.
Easy to find. Spacious rooms. Easy parking. Close to all amenities
Nice restaurant next to hotel- very convenient
Not what was expected based on provided photos of rooms on website. Definitely has an old vibe which can be really nostalgic, but it just didn’t have a feeling of clean when getting into our room. The carpets in the hotel are very dated, and I would not recommend wearing bare feet or socks. Wear your shoes. Bed was so old you could feel the sprigs in the mattress. Just like the spare bedroom of your 90 year old grandmothers house. For over $200 I would suggest looking somewhere else to stay. The staff are lovely, but I definitely felt this could be a place that would have bedbugs at some point. I did look and there wasn’t any found. Thankfully
The train is close and noisy. The window shades don't block light at edges. Comfy clean bed. Clean room. Property needs upgrades Super friendly staff. Parking across street and paying is a hassle
Property is on par with a hiway motel. No parking except street or pay park a block away, both are unsecured.
The hotel was nice and clean and the common visiting area on the floor was lovely. Staff was very nice and helpful. The carpets and bathroom tiles were old and worn and the surrounding area had many struggling people on the streets. Overall, it was a good, clean place at a reasonable price
Had a great time.
The staff were great. The train is loud, as is the air conditioner.
It was a nice place to stay on the interior, but a very busy area and quite noisy on the street side from people outside smoking in front of the pub next door and leaving quite the mess of cigarette butts. The location was convenient for the purpose of our visit.
We were able to get an early check in at noon and spend the day in the city. 30 min train ride to downtown and train station 1 minute away.
Customer service fine but no hotel parking
Close to the Sky Train
This place is not in downtown Vancouver, but it's 40' from the nearest T station making it easy to get there, but takes about an hour to get to/for the airport. Definitely an older hotel, ac in the window blocking view. Windows do not open. Delux has a microwave and small fridge, standard uses a communal one. It's 4 floors of roooms over reception and a bar. Nice park across the street and 10-15 min walk to a Safeway and small shopping center with a theater.
Beautiful customer service
