It was fine
The history of the building...
People screaming outside the hotel at 4:00 am.
The pub next door has people on the sidewalk under the hotel guest room windows until all hours of the morning. Screaming, yelling and fighting till well after 2:00 am. The ac units in the rooms allow all the street noise in. Rooms and property are fine especially for the age of the building and staff was good however the lack of sleep every night will keep me from booking there again in the future. Maybe the pub- seems to be owned by the hotel should hire a doorman/ bouncer to keep that behaviour in check.
Was lovely big room with outlook across the river. Skytrain 2 doors down bar and pubfood next door. Interesting events on over the weekend we were there.
Unexpected parking fees. Advertisement said parking available. But it didn’t list the $20 fee
It’s noisy at night
The property is spacious and clean considering it’s an older building. Very close to bars and restaurants. Not like the smell cannabis in the streets though.
Very pleasantly surprised and well within costs.
We didn't expect much of a hotel in old New Westminster, especially on the main street. However, we were very impressed with this 'boutique' hotel and enjoyed our stay very much. It was only a few steps from the Skytrain station at Columbia which made it perfect for us. The price was certainly within reason for a greater Vancouver hotel. We elected to stay there because of the price and the convenience of the Skytrain. We'll definitely be back again next year before heading off on another cruise. Lovely woman of Ukrainian descent at the front desk too. Overall, well worth a stay in this lovely hotel.
The staff were friendly and accommodating. Rooms were clean and comfortable.
It is right next to skytra
Great value in an old building.
loved the old world feel of the property but felt a bit unsafe on the street level and was unsure about the parking down the block but in the end it was okay
Nice, clean and convenient.
Old hotel that still has metal door keys. Very noisy located next to SkyTrain station. Rooms dated, furniture old. Rooms were quite dusty (ceiling fans). Front Desk was friendly. Good pizza at bar attached to hotel.
It was great so far as my first accommodated
Vancouver visit
Old hotel, but convenient for our needs. Bathroom was clean and the beds were comfortable. The rest of the room furniture was worn. The chairs outside our room in a sitting area looked recently redone. The hotel is on a busy street and the back of the hotel faces the rapid transit line. The trains run all night. It’s a half mile walk to a restaurant for breakfast. Smallest lobby I have ever seen, but the woman on duty was very friendly.
The staff I met on arrival was wonderful and super resourceful. The hotel is clean. The actual facility is quite old, from the furniture to the bed, it is all quite run down and could definitely use an upgrade. However, it is affordable, clean and staff was really nice. There is a transit line just beside the hotel which can make it noisy throughout the evening, but also, easy access to transit...
There was a lot in walking distance however proximity to the bars made for very loud nights
The building and rooms are a bit worn and run down. They could use a deep clean and some investment of new fixtures The staff are good and very friendly
Staff very friendly & helpful.
Very nice hotel, excellent location!! 100% recomendados!!
An oldie but a goodie !!
Very nice stay at a reasonable price.
Hotel is old, outside is dirty
Staff was excellent. For a hotel in a older part of the city it was good. It worked for are stay(one night) just fine.
I like the building - it’s well maintained and the service personals are friendly and helpful !
Beautiful victorian style hotel. Definitely not a 5 star hotel but for the lovers of the victorian era, Beautiful architect, cozy feel, welcoming and quiet. Parking sucks but if you dont have to.worry about parking its great. You can walk to the warf to enjoy Beautiful views
It is right next to a Skytrain station which is very convenient to get downtown Vancouver and other areas. There is some noise from the train but though it was ok for me I might bring ear plugs next time. If you are noise sensitive then you may want a room at the front. Hotel price was very reasonable considering other hotels downtown at the time of year (mid-September)
Small property. Dated. Right next to train that runs all night. No parking on site so have to pay to park in municipal parking that is sketchy
What you're paying for is convenience. The location is fairly close to most attractions (I.E. Stanley Park or Granville Island) which makes travelling to those places easier. There is plenty of access to public transportation like the Skytrain or buses. However, if you get a rear facing room prepare for the bright lights of the skytrain station directly behind the building to illuminate your room at all hours of the night. Also, the beds are not the most comfortable either. The room as a whole was fairly average.
We have stayed here many times and love it.
Good location
Thank you. Affordable to stat there
Decent boutique hotel close to the skytrain
My go to hotel when I have to be in the city for business.
Not a place I would bring my family to.
Excellent proximity to transit, very easy to get downtown.
Old charm high ceiling with modern comfort. Only negative is the proximity to sky train which makes it very noisy.
Reasonable price hotel in lower mainland that close to sky train. Easy to get around. Only issue was the AC wasnt strong enough to keep the room cool.
Clean modern bathroom
Beds were comfortable, AC was noisy. Bathroom was clean
Has a great stay. Staff were helpful. The room was great.
Great staff. Noisy on the street side but that’s the price you pay for a pretty water view. No shower caps in the bathroom- that would be a big plus. Nice and helpful staff.
The overall stay was good. But it didn’t had parking options and also a bit of noise as there’s a train station right behind the hotel.
The place is very traditional but in really good condition. Clean and well maintained. The staff was friendly. The location was very convenient. There is a nice area by the river just across the street. We would definitely come back.
The people were very nice. Enjoyed the area.
Had a nice stay.
Very nice. Liked high ceilings.
The fan was very dirty and still had nicotine stains from when you could smoke. The calking in the bathroom was gone mostly. The shower head was too low and came out like a pressure washer. Still was comfortable and cleam. Nice location. Close to everything.
Good check in with Taya. She was very helpful and friendly. Pub next door served a good supper Room clean. Beds firm. Really appreciated that the air conditioning was turned on prior to coming.
It was very close to the sky train station. Large clean room.
Easy to find. Spacious rooms. Easy parking. Close to all amenities
Nice restaurant next to hotel- very convenient
Not what was expected based on provided photos of rooms on website. Definitely has an old vibe which can be really nostalgic, but it just didn’t have a feeling of clean when getting into our room. The carpets in the hotel are very dated, and I would not recommend wearing bare feet or socks. Wear your shoes. Bed was so old you could feel the sprigs in the mattress. Just like the spare bedroom of your 90 year old grandmothers house. For over $200 I would suggest looking somewhere else to stay. The staff are lovely, but I definitely felt this could be a place that would have bedbugs at some point. I did look and there wasn’t any found. Thankfully
The train is close and noisy. The window shades don't block light at edges. Comfy clean bed. Clean room. Property needs upgrades Super friendly staff. Parking across street and paying is a hassle
Property is on par with a hiway motel. No parking except street or pay park a block away, both are unsecured.
The hotel was nice and clean and the common visiting area on the floor was lovely. Staff was very nice and helpful. The carpets and bathroom tiles were old and worn and the surrounding area had many struggling people on the streets. Overall, it was a good, clean place at a reasonable price
Had a great time.
The staff were great. The train is loud, as is the air conditioner.
It was a nice place to stay on the interior, but a very busy area and quite noisy on the street side from people outside smoking in front of the pub next door and leaving quite the mess of cigarette butts. The location was convenient for the purpose of our visit.
We were able to get an early check in at noon and spend the day in the city. 30 min train ride to downtown and train station 1 minute away.
Customer service fine but no hotel parking
Close to the Sky Train
This place is not in downtown Vancouver, but it's 40' from the nearest T station making it easy to get there, but takes about an hour to get to/for the airport. Definitely an older hotel, ac in the window blocking view. Windows do not open. Delux has a microwave and small fridge, standard uses a communal one. It's 4 floors of roooms over reception and a bar. Nice park across the street and 10-15 min walk to a Safeway and small shopping center with a theater.
A night after a long day of traveling
We were very tired from a long day of traveling and the hotel was great for the night. This hotel is older so you have the typical dinged walls, scuffed paint area and spotted carpet but if you can look past those things, the bed is comfortable and they provide all the toiletries you need. The highlight, is the great service. We were welcomed in and given options for parking our car (space on the road outside of hotel or across the street in parking deck) she then ran down a list of things to do, after she discovered it was our first time in Canada. Great location and the walk along the river was magnificent. We only stayed for 1 night but if I had the time we would have stayed again.
nice thank you
The building was older, heritage even, but nicely done and clean. Very convenient for transit shopping and dining.
Excellent staff
Staff is very friendly and helpful. Parking is across the street from the hotel. The carpet in the room had many stains. The bathtub and the sink wasn’t draining properly. The bed was comfortable. The hotel is close to the train station.
Clean, affordable hotel in the heart of New West.
Convenient location near train station.
It was good
Thank you another nice stay!
Older property/boutique hotel with history which is nice. Needs updating. Carpet in room old and just appears dirty. Blinds in room old. Locks on doors minimal so traveling solo I didn’t feel super secure in my room. Bed comfortable. Parking available across the street was convenient and suggested. Rough surroundings outside though-don’t keep valuables in your car. Taphouse next door with great food. Don’t let the exterior scare you off. Staff were wonderful!
Everything as described in the hotel post.
It’s a great value hotel close to the train. I didn’t like there was not a secured parking structure but what was available seemed okay. Nice that the police station was 2 blocks down. Room was clean, but a little outdated. I would stay again if I needed to be in the area or close to the sky train. Overall a good experience.
The property was spacious and clean with a wonderful view of the bridge and ships and water. Its also beside a video game store and awrsome restaurant. The parking isnt bad and im happy they provided a pass for us. The staff were also very friendly and incredibly polite. I loved staying here!
Spacious rooms, sketchy neighbourhood!
Great service, large rooms, nice old building with cozy lounge on the third floor. Sketchy neighbourhood at night and told not to leave ANYTHING in our vehicle. Some cleaning needed to be done (ceiling fan, bathroom vent etc)
I usually stay here when in the Vancouver area as it is lower priced than most hotels. It is right next to sky train so easy to get around Vancouer area. Also close by food and shopping options.
Excellent little stay!
Hotel is located in an older building so you don't expect modern amenities. The towel bar kept falling every time I put or took my towel off. The public trains are located in the back of the building so just expect noise. My husband and I lived in a busy city so we are used to the sounds. There's no microwave in the rooms or ice machine on the same floors, but all can be found on the second floor. You can pay for parking just right across the street for a daily rate, and the parking lot has surveillance. What was unique about the rooms is how tall the ceilings are. Rooms were well kept and clean. Staff is very friendly. If we ever need a room again outside of Vancouver, we would not mind going back here.
Good
The location of the hotel is excellent for transportation and for using public transit. The skytrain station of the Expo line is just steps away from the hotel! The views of the Fraser River from the front-facing rooms are lovely, but Columbia street is in the older parts of New Westminster. There are panhandlers and that sort of people, but sadly this has become the normal in all the cities now :(
The building was old and not well-maintained, which meant areas in the room could not be cleaned completely. The carpet was badly stained, it needs to be replaced and the bathroom renovated. Internet service was spotty, my husband needed it for a work meeting and had trouble getting online. Parking was confusing as it was across the street from the hotel and not clearly marked. While it was comfortable enough and the staff were extremely helpful and friendly, I will not stay here again.
Excellent location
It’s an old building so it has a high ceiling and feeling spacious. However, the air conditioner is not working well. It is quite noisy.
It was fine
The property is very quaint in sticking with the charm of the era. Being built in 1892 and one of the first hotels in the area, with only 27 rooms, the price is well worth it. The beds are very comfortable with a great front view of the river, the staff super helpful and friendly, and walkable to several restaurants and different shops. It’s a short Uber ride to downtown Vancouver so there’s always options for you to chose from.
Clean quiet big rooms excellent water pressure l recommend the Met ! It’s super nice. Great value.
It was good service
Good price for the room. Parking is a problem in the area and feels a little unsafe walking at night, especially when you need to park a ways from the hotel.
It’s what old hotels used to be. Actual keys. Interesting and unique building and staff who care about your experience.
Great location.
Great location. Stayed for concert and rode Sky Train into the city.
Lots of homeless around the near by train station
Took half hour $70 taxi ride from airport. Small reception area, 1 lift to upper floors rooms. Had a road, front facing double room, single glazing made it very noisy. Coffee machine and coffee/tea awful, a kettle and sachets of coffee/tea bags would be far better. Nice bright lounge area on our 4th floor landing. 10 minute walk to Waves coffee shop to get breakfast each morning. Pub next door for limited dinner. Near train station, direct line to Waterside area of city. Overall for price was ok for 2 nights before our cruise as city hotels very expensive.
Very nice, old-school hotel. Manager and staff very friendly, hospitable, and helpful. Great pub!
This is a really cool boutique hotel. Nice and close to everything with hard to beat prices. Each floor has a very nice lounge area and the rooms are older but spacious. The area is older and seeing a gentrification but still has a ways to go. If your looking for a decent place to stay at an affordable price in down town New West this is a great option.
It’s convenient to our relatives!
Great older building in new west. Staff always friendly and helpful. Bar and grill yummmmmy.
Excellent staff and facilities! Highly recommend
Extended our stay one night so didn’t have to check in or change rooms
I like that the building was connected to a liquor and pub. The food and staff were great.
