Excellent service and great location!

The standard rooms are very small, barely any space to move around for 1 person. The terrasse has a perfect view of Galata Tower. However the workers on the terrasse have an attitude and one worker started talking to me very rudely in front of all guests asking me my room number and raising his voice, when he had already taken my number when I got to the breakfast area a couple of minutes ago, it was embarrassing, they think I will try to steal breakfast from them? We were staying for our honeymoon, none of the staff mentioned us anything even though I had left a message about it. The breakfast spread was also very poor, seems like there is a lot of things going on but no taste and the service is slow for beverages. We had to ask 4 times before getting our glass of juice and by the time we got served we were done with the breakfast. You will definitely be wakened up by the morning prayer call, no sound isolation. If you are looking to stay close to Galata Tower with a nice view terrasse, this is the hotel. The front desk staff were okay, nothing special. Some of the staff from breakfast ruined our stay with their attitude and their behaviour, because of that, I will stay somewhere else next time.

The hotel location was great near to all the little shops and cafes. The view from the terace was incredibly beautiful, the breakfast was great as well .The staff are very polite, I would say a huge thank you to Sevval who made our stay unforgetable.

Amazing stay

The hotel was just magical. We had breakfast on the rooftop every morning and always made sure we had a drink there before leaving in the evening!

Our room was light, bright & comfortable. Acon didn't quite go low enough to keep room at an ideal temperature. Loved the roof top for breakfast.

So much noise from outside so very hard to get a good night sleep inside the rooms. Staff were nice and helpful.

Beautiful historic place in the heart of Galata. Geogeous views from the rooftop terrace. Walkable area with multiple dining and shopping. Would stay there again.

I enjoyed my stay here at this hotel, the hotel is very clean, modern and beautifully decorated inside the rooms. Breakfast was on the rooftop where you have beautiful views of Istanbul and of course galata towers, I would recommend this place to anyone and I would definitely stay here again.

The hotel is centrally located in the Taksim area. The view from the terrace is espectacular. Any issues are promptly taken care of. Staff is very friendly and professional.

Front desk staff were very helpful and tried their best to tend to all needs. Mehmet was a great help providing information and helping with check in and out. Cleaning staff need to be quieter as they start very early in the morning. We woke up around 7:00 am every morning because of the noise they were making and talking loudly considering that hallways were in marble and wood which make noises more vivid and transferable

We had a fantastic time at Meroddi Barnathan. The historic hotel was gorgeous and the staff were very helpful and knowledgeable about the city and its history. We loved the view of the Galata tower and the premium location right next to the busy shopping streets. Would recommend.

Overnight stay in Meroddi Barnathan

My wife and I had an overnight stay at Meroddi on the way back from another trip. The hotel gave us a free upgrade to a Suite with amazing views of Galata and Istanbul. The staff were always very friendly and hardworking. We had a memorable stay and I would recommend this hotel if you want to be in the middle of the Istanbul action!

Great Hotel

The hotel had a great location, pop out the door and your in the middle of a busy shopping, and food district. The rooftop bar/restaurant had a great feel and picture perfect views. The food was great and reasonably priced. The wine was expensive US $12 glass but $75 for two with drinks is reasonable. The service was great. The room was clean and beautiful, had real style. The staff was always helpful and courteous. Would defiantly stay there again.

No bad for what you paid

Hotel is old but restore is in a great location, you can walk to everywhere from there, the service at the property restaurants is really slow and bad i will no recommend to eat there there is many more restaurants around, and forget to use the elevator, is very small and in the evening the blocked for the terrace use , try to stay in 1st floor, the view in the terrace is a plus to see sunsets.

istanbul stay

were suprised how hilly the location was. If we had known we might have chosen another location. the small street was extremely busy with tourists, locals, cars and scooters which made it extremely noisy. earplugs were supplied by hotel, however triple glazing would be better. on the plus side the hotel has great views from breakfast terrace to the bosphorus and sultanhamet side of istanbul. hotel room was large ,spacious and cleaned thoroughly every day. food was good. 20% discount on food and drinks made it very competitive with other restaurants in area and in some cases cheaper.

But staff were great

First thing to get out of the way - do not believe the quoted room sizes! We booked a "Deluxe Room with Sea View - 291 sq ft" and were given one that was 12ft x 10 ft (so 120 sq ft?) including the bijou bathroom! There was barely enough space to squeeze around the "Queen Size bed" - which in this case meant 'small double' - 6ft long so my feet hung over the end. It was so small we resented the space taken by the tiny 18 inch wide wardrobe. We queried this with reception but were told that we had the room we booked. So if you are considering this hotel go for the Deluxe Kingsize (and expect a standard roomsize so you won't be disappointed). Also ignore the "sound proofed rooms" feature - unless that refers to the earplugs that they give you on arrival? We were on the 4th floor directly below the restaurant so there was a bit of noise from there as well of course from the morning call to prayer (unavoidable in central Istanbul). Apart from this the hotel was great (seriously we enjoyed it!). Breakfast on the roof was gorgeous: for both the views and the food. The service was excellent: all the staff were so friendly and helpful. Everything was spotlessly clean and good quality. The location was perfect - in the heart of Galata (the tower is 100m away) with fabulous bars and restaurants in easy walking distance - though the walk down the hill to the Galata bridge is steep but downhill and it's even steeper coming back! I would recomend this hotel but do book a kingsize room!

IF YOU ARE A FOREIGN TRAVELER, DO NOT BOOK HERE!!! IT IS A SCAM!!! I am from the USA and vacationed in Greece. I used Turkish Air and had a 15 hour layover in Istanbul, so I decided to do a layover tour of Istanbul to see the Hagia Sophia, etc. I chose this hotel for 3 reasons - 1) It was located by the Galata Tower that I also wanted to visit, 2) Because my flight would get into Istanbul at 11:30pm and I wanted to ensure there would be no problems with check-in at such a late hour, 3) They had lots of amazing reviews. Unfortunately when I arrived, the front desk initially told me that they did not have a reservation. After talking with Expedia's customer service, they found my reservation. What had happened is that the hotel was fully booked. And even though I had made my reservation months in advance, the hotel gave away my reserved room and transferred my reservation to one of their other properties that they owned. According to the hotel, my new room was an "upgrade". I had paid extra to booked a nicer room (one with a guaranteed sea side view), but the room I received looked like I was staying at a hostel. You can see for yourself, the property they placed me in is the Meroddi Pera Flat. The hotel even had the audacity to charge me the full booking price! And I could do nothing about it because otherwise I would have no place to stay that night in Istanbul. The hotel totally took advantage that I was a foreign traveler to scam me! Do not book here!

5 days in this hotel

I booked deluxe room but it was too small. There was not even enough floor space to put two medium suitcase. Bed was comfortable but could not sleep because of a lot of noise from restaurant and kitchen. Some days noise carried on until 01:00 morning. Staff are very friendly and helpful but if I could not sleep in piece, I don’t see point of booking this hotel for holiday

Beautiful hotel, great location

The hotel is fantastic, a beautiful building with a stunning rooftop view of the Galata Tower and Bosphorus water view. The incredible breakfast buffet can be eaten up there in the morning and for drinks and dinner. The area is right in the thick of the shops and restaurants, bars and a great location. We loved it. My only negative which sadly let down the amazing team at this hotel was the rooftop restaurant staff service for dinner. We booked for a special occasion dinner and they wouldn’t let us book an actual table as we were told first come first served. When we arrived we were seated at a less than desirable table and I asked to move to a table with a view when one became available. When one did I asked if we could move there and they said no, the table was reserved, and promptly moved a couple who’d just arrived, to the better table. There were many people up there just there for the view, one drink and no food. Some sat for more than an hour after finishing their drink which is poor table management. Priority should be for guests and for those dining. They need to allocate times for tables when busy. It just got worse after this as no one served us and we had to go up to get a menu and then to order our drink and then again to remind them when the order never came. This happened throughout the whole meal and ruined our special night. Worst service we have ever had anywhere. Great hotel though, loved it.

Excellent location on cute little street, few minutes from Galata Tower and the main shopping street with shopping and lots of restaurants. Friendly staff that gave good recommendations for coffee and dessert nearby. Also, rooftop breakfast is very nice.

The property is situated on the edge of few main attractions. You can visit Istiklal street, Taskin Square, Galata tower within few mins walk and if you want to walk to Blue mosque, aya sophia, spice bazar, Galata bride, Eminonu you can reach there within 35 mins walk. Hotel staff from reception to kitchen staff all were very cooperative and friendly. Breakfast on the hotel top roof is mind blowing, you can see the whole Istanbul from the hotel top while having your breakfast. In short, it’s worth to stay at this hotel and I strongly recommend this hotel to every one who is interested to stay close to the main attractions.

This hotel is steps away from Galata Tower. It’s a recently renovated home from the 1800s with a rich history. The rooftop has spectacular views and the food is excellent. LOVED the staff who helped us make reservations and made us feel very welcome, especially Nehmet!

This is a historical hitel right between Galata Tower and Istiklal street. Property is in a great condition, thecstaff is excellent, and the breakfast on a rooftop is unbeatable. Definitely recommend it to anyone who wants to be in a nuce hotel in the heart of the city.

Sky high views and ceilings in Beyoğlu

Beautiful hotel in a wonderful location. The staff was friendly and helpful. The view from both the Sea View suite and the rooftop restaurant were incredible. Would absolutely stay again.

Decent hotel in good location

Good location, close to Galata, ferries and the shops of Taksim. Wonderful terrace and great food, although breakfast not great with coffee poor and wait for hot food. Very friendly staff. We were on floor 4, the noise of tables and chairs being cleared last thing at night and 7-7.45 in the morning was drastic!!

The location is perfect for sightseeing. Close to metro. The rooftop restaurant is amazing for sunset. Fluffy towels and friendly staff.

I would like to know who will refund me for the room charges. The room that I got was not the one that I paid for. It barely had enough room for me to walk around. Extremely small, NOT WHAT I PAID FOR. I would like for someone to reach how to me because I have asked to speak to someone like a supervisor in the past but was unable to. If I don’t hear from someone it was the last time I used Expedia.

Perfect location and great staff

The hotel was very lovely and the staff was great. The one complaint I will have is that the AC was not working but it was not a big deal.

Very nice hotel with most of the staff being friendly and the other half less so. The rooftop restaurant team is indifferent at time. The hotel is nice and in a central location. Not the hotels fault but expect the street noise to be Loud late into the evening

The only minus for this property is its size, unnecessary furniture in room made it too cramped. The location, view , staff and everything was perfect. Do consider other options if you are going to stay for more than one night. Very very cramped room

This hotel was in a perfect location. Safe and easy to walk to shops and cafes. The staff was wonderful, as were the two restaurants. Our room was magical - panoramic sea view suite with pine floors and views of Galata Tower, Hagia Sophia, Bosphorus, and the city. Everything was sparkling clean and in great condition.

I booked this hotel for 6 days as a treat for my sister and niece. I like to be clear that I did not stay and therefore will not comment on the hotel itself , I was totally disappointed in my experience with the hotel . I had messaged the hotel with a singular particular requirement , related to an health issue that they had stated they could offer . I had given them 7 weeks notice, they had ignored my emails and not responded, I called from the UK and was hung up on, when they could not explain why things could not be sorted . This issue was only resolved when I contacted Expedia and they stepped in . However this was too late , a day before they were flying back . In conclusion this hotel is not a place that takes individual visitors needs seriously. So if u have a requirements for health reasons or a birthday / wedding/ anniversary or any special occasion be guaranteed that you will be ignored I only booked this place as my niece had seen this on social media site and had her heart set on staying . I think this place cares more about their image online and showing good snaps rather than really looking after there guest needs and doing what is essential for good hotels and treating every guest like they are important Also I don’t think that the previous customer reviews are genuine, my gut tells me that 6 out of the last 7 reviews were possibly?? Written by friends of the establishment who booked a night in order to write a sham review.

The location was great close to Taksim square and Isteklal street. The staff are very friendly and helpful. Sedef was so nice to us. They speak English and that was very helpful. I recommend this hotel very much.

Die Zimmer sind zu klein,man kann sich kaum bewegen. Und extrem laut es hellhörig man hört alles husten von nebenan, Toilettenspülung, draußen ist es dauerhaft laut und die Betten Übels hart. Für den Preis was wir bezahlt haben haben wir schon viel mehr erwartet.

Rezervasyon öncesi ilettiğim özel notun okunması ve dikkate alınması çok mutlu etti. Güler yüzle karşılandık , her şey için çok teşekkürler. Harika bir konaklamaydı.

Super hotel with the best view.

The experience at Merodi Barnathan Hotel was the best of the best. The view is amazing, probably the best view of the Galata Tower in town, the personnel is amazing and very friendly, the breakfast is superb and because it was my birthday they kindly left me a cake and a gift at my room that day. I couldn't ask for more in a hotel, when we come back to Turkey we will definitely book here again.

El edificio es bellísimo, con el encanto de tiempos antiguos. El jardín además de elegante es acogedor y tiene una vista privilegiada de la torre Galata. La terraza debe ser una de las mejores vistas en Estambul! El desayuno, el más completo que conocí en Turquía . Deja algo que desear la atención de los meseros. Y la primera noche no tuve agua caliente y la repuesta de recepción fue decepcionante. Fuera de esas dos cosas el Hotel es Maravilloso
