Second time staying there - great staff, food, reasonable drink prices. Would recommend. It’s not a 5* place and there is one other nicer hotel in the area but this still deserves an excellent rating.

The people in this area need to take better care of there home land , to see all the trash in the canal and along the beaches is terrible.

Nice place to stay. I was only there for a night before it transferred to a ferry to the Mentawai Islands. Very secure. Not that there's much crime around there though.

Always go with the Mercure hotel when staying in Padang. It's clean, with comfortable bed and fast unlimited wifi, however the towels are always GREY! as if they wash the floors with this towels.

I’ve stayed in probably 5 or 6 hotels in Padang, and Mercure is the best I’ve seen. It’s clean, has a nice pool, the food in the restaurant is good, and it’s convenient.

COVID-19 extended stay

We’ve been “stuck” here in Padang with 3 young children due to the COVID-19 lockdown and had initially planned on staying for just a few nights. However, 10 days later we are still here and just want to thank the staff and Mercure Padang’s wonderful Manager for their hospitality and service during this uncertain time for our family. Everyone here has gone out of their way to make our stay enjoyable. They’ve learned our names, even our usual breakfast orders and do all they can to serve with a smile. We may have to switch hotels regrettably only because our funds are running low and we can’t afford to stay in this wonderful hotel for an indefinite period of time. Everything from service to cleanliness has been 5 Stars. Thank you, Mercure Padang!

Nice and comfortable stay. Friendly staff. Hotel is within walking distance to the beachfront. A good selection of buffet breakfast spread. My only complain is the bathroom was not provided with face towels.

Probably the nicest hotel in the area, but hotel feels more like a 3-4 star hotel. There is a nice pool and poolside deck. Restaurant food was decent.

Clean and Safe

The staff is very accommodating. They’re currently fixing some hazards above the pool and gym entrance, but it’ll be much safer upon completion. I believe this is the best hotel to stay at in Padang. A short distance to the harbor if you’re destination is the Mentawais.

The accommodation and facilities were fine, ... but the check-in and checkout process is painfully slow. Why does it take 10 - 15 mins to check someone in, .... you need to find a way to speed this up as you don't incur wait times like this anywhere else in the world ???

Good for foreign travelers

The Mercure in Padang is a good choice for foreign travelers who are staying a night or two in Padang while traveling to and from the Mentawai, Telo or other outer islands for surf trips. Its a clean, comfortable and safe sanctuary from the chaos and dirtiness of Padang. The food and drink are tasty and clean, the staff are friendly and helpful and the rooms are spacious enough, clean, comfortable and everything is in good working order. The newly remodeled rooms are especially nice in their facilities and furnishings. There is a lot that can be hectic when traveling in Indonesia, but staying at the Mercure is a relief from all of that and is very inexpensive by Western standards. The Mercure is highly recommended to traveling surfers.

Best in Padang

Needing a place to stay in Padang while traveling to the Mentawai and Telo islands for surfing, the Mercure is a nice, clean, comfortable option to have a sanctuary from the chaos and grime of Padang. The newly remodeled rooms are well appointed and comfortable and the facilities are in good working order. The food and drinks are high quality but at the expected luxury hotel prices. Staff and friendly and helpful and most can understand English reasonably well. The Mercure is a good place to rest in comfort before and after long journeys to get to the outer islands.

Nice hotel. The beach is filthy. Its a good spot for an overnighter. The pool is great and the food's ok and cheap.

Comfortable room and good food

It was the best hotel choice for the area and the food was a great deal and staff was nice but definitely not close to a 5 star hotel or experience as they claim to be. There are no other places I believe that’s better in the area.

Noisy neighborhood

My overall stay was OK. I have stayed on this hotel before. A few things have changed since my last stay. A loudspeaker in the local area close to the hotel are making the outside restaurant area not so pleasant in the evening. The restaurant food quality have also gone down a few steps.

Exceeded Expectations

We arrived well before check-in, but they got our room ready for a 10AM check in which was wonderful. Beds are comfortable. Room is simple and clean. Food was pretty good. Big shout out to Aprioho - Bell Boy / Concierge who went out of his way to help us with transport into town. Overall we had a great experience and will come back again as it's the perfect pitstop after long haul flights and connecting to the Menatwais.

Nice hotel close to beach.

Had some issues at check in but it was rectified. Nice Deluxe Room with ocean view. The closest shopping mall - Basco Mall is quite a distance so need to take a cab. If there is traffic jam outside the mall, it is best that you alight from the cab at the road opposite the mall. Otherwise you will incur additional cab fare as the cab will need to make a u-turn and join the traffic jam before reaching the main entrance of the Basco Mall.

Turned up was told there was not book.

When arrived at reception was told there was no booking and had to pay for the room. Am trying to get a refund for the room which was booked and paid for. Unfortunately did not have the written confirmation with me. Have other associated who also experienced the same problem at this hotel

Nice hotel, good for an overnight stay. Unfortunately the service wasn't the best which made for a disapointing stay.

Hotel on a downspin since last year

Quality of the hotel has decreased considerably since last year. Restaurant is OK for breakfast, but for lunch/dinner, menu has become fantomatic and size of portions ludicrously small. Small roaches in room -- yes, tropical climate but still unacceptable. Internet stopped working in room after one day. Was erractic at best in lobby.

Comfortable hotel if in Padang for a few days

Hotel staff were friendly, but communication wasn't always easy. Hotel is currently undergoing some construction, but this did not impact my stay. Due to an unforseen delay in my transport I needed to stay at the hotel for about 6 hours after I checked out. This was no problem, the hotel were happy to look after my luggage and there was adequate seating in the reception area.

I have stayed here several times pre and post Mentawais surf trips. Nice, clean, comfortable hotel. Comfy beds and hot water. A bit pricier than other hotels but still cheap by western standards.
