The staff were very friendly and accommodating. Be sure to ask for a golf cart ride to and from the other hotels and shopping! We had a great time! Mahalo!
Expensive for what it is. Not good for kids over 9
We have stayed at this hotel for years. It’s great for small kids, but after our youngest turned 10, we won’t be back again. Pros : location, good for kids under 9, surfing right out front, Starbucks on site, can walk to Roy’s, Can walk to restaurants and whalers village, ocean views from certain rooms, coconut shrimp by the pools and kids meals poolside were pretty good. Clean. Staff is friendly!!! Cons: way overpriced for what it is. Should be $200 less a night. Beds are VERY uncomfortable ( I’ve never even noticed things like this, but these are egregious. It was like a wrestling mattress). The POOL…small, crowded, slide closes too early, not enough shade for everyone, people hogging seats and leaving pool area but over zealous security guy with handlebar mustache targeting certain areas and looming around. There are no restaurants onsite (except one inedible Italian one). Everything closes really early.
The location right on the beach is great! The property itself is a bit tired but clean. The restaruant (Longhi's) and the bar were great! The staff was very helpful and accommodating.
The Jacuzzis were dirty, people blew boogers and spit in them, was disappointed. The staff was 5 star, food as well.the beach access was amazing.
Beautiful! Close to the beach! The staff were very friendly and helpful. Loved the location
Very accommodating given a flight cancellation.
Perfect
Great resort and staff
Would have rather slept in a dumpster in Daytona
It should be made very clear this is a time share property. When you pull up, it’s a complete cluster. Didn’t realize there was self parking so did valet. Valet grabbed keys. Asked if I needed plate number. He said no Was asked in line what my license plate number was in addition to at front desk. Front desk lady took my credit card and license into back room for extended period of time telling me their CC reader was not working. We paid the same amount of money for another resort in Maui in a nicer area. This is a frigging rip off. Felt like Daytona beach not Maui. Make it clear this is a time share property on your website.
Comfortable, clean, people very helpful.
Extremely clean, friendly, and accomodating.
Property is beautiful and well maintained. Staff was super nice and friendly. No housekeeping was a bummer but understandable in these “covid” times.
Beautiful and convenient location
Located very close to everything. Beach / shopping / eating/ pool / gym / !!!
Gorgeous property, great location near Whaler's Village and Lahaina. Nice amenities
The trip was a honeymoon gift to my nephew and his new wife - They had only positive comments re the property and their entire experience
Horrible experience
Horrible - the hotel staff (reception) were rude and not helpful. The room was for disabled and everything was so uncomfortable - they had a different room but didn’t give it to us since the price was slightly higher than the standard room. What they advertised had a kitchenette in it whereas in reality was non-existent. The shower was installed for disabled people and was very tough to use it. When I asked for 15 mins late checkout (check in at 4 pm and check out at 10am where normally is 12), they said no - it’s not possible.
The landscaping and pool area were beautiful with the lush green plants, flowers, and waterfalls. Right on the beach and loved the paved walking path to Whaler's Village. Longer than normal wait time for Starbucks and the pool deli since Kaanapali Grill was still closed.
One Great Employee Saved the Day
Oscar at the hotel saved the day! Had a beautiful room with a spectacular Mountain View BUT the pool area ( gorgeous) was overpacked and not Covid safe. Got a text from hotel “ is everything good?” Replied “No” because I was at the pool with no employees or chairs in sight. Oscar showed up & got us old folks situated & comfortable. He deserves double whatever he’s getting paid! No free transportation here& only restaurants are pool area snack/lunch food. Gorgeous property close to shopping area & restaurants.
Horrible experience
The concierge gave us completely wrong information about the hotel, restaurants and activities. We missed out on many things we wanted to experience and all they did for us once we told them about these misinformation’s was just $100 credit :(. On top of all of this our check in experience was horrible, no valet and bad service over all.
Good but not great, lower value for $$$
Summary: This property is very old, but the room was big and clean. Due to COVID, the restaurants were closed and even the Starbucks on the property was not fully open which was a bummer. Overall the stay was not bad, but didn’t feel like 100% worth for the $$$$ we paid for it. Here are a few things that were good: + clean, big room with microwave and fridge (saved us a lot of $$ and time for breakfast as we did a grocery run on day 1) + swimming pool is really good + friendly staff + location + laundry Here are a few things that could have been better: - not many amenities open compared to other neighboring properties (except Westin). Only pool side bar and Starbucks open for limited time. - $$$$ room rates - old building - slightly farther from Whalers Village compared to some other properties - $20 per day for parking!!
Property, and all was good. But for what orbitz charged was not worth the price. Price gouging in times of pandemic is not good. I'm here to support the local ecinomy, but your profit margins are ridiculous. Lower your price orbitz. Im spreading the news.
In spite of everything going on, our stay was wonderful. Thanks to all your staff including housekeeping, valet parkers and the pool bartenders. A special thank you to the concierge, Jeffrey. His wonderful attitude & help was inspiring.
Location on Beach walking path ie to Laua at HyattRegency and other properties including shopping Malls
Great Family spot
Our family had an amazing time here. Great location and super fun for kids.
Our sliding windows rattled so bad we could hardly sleep ether night. The property was being remodeled which was distracting With detours and construction equipment every where. The bar tenders were like zombies and could use some training on making customers fell more welcome. All in all i was not impressed with our experience. This is the first negative response I Have ever writing and with the issues we all face with the virus and the challenges ahead created by it maybe getting staff to understand that things aren't the same as usual and everyone will need to be smarter, sharper and work harder to make your property the one of choice for travelers in the near future. Thank you. Denny
Nice place to stay in Kaanapali
Our stay was just fine for the one day we were there. Nice property, easy check in, comfortable room... No issues at all.
Location is nice, whales are seen from shore, hotel very helpful
We love this place, have been coming here for years.
pool was great, beach was excellent for snorkeling, high recommend this hotel
Beautiful property in an amazing location with easy access to anything you need in terms of relaxation, food and entertainment. The view from our room was one of the most beautiful I have ever seen.
Awesome
This hotel is gorgeous. They were undergoing renovations when we were there, but it had zero impact on our stay. Gorgeous views, close to Whaler’s village. Lovely stay.
Lovely Resort
Great place - nothing fancy like the Ritz, but very easy to check in early and check out late and still enjoy the pool. Easy walk to Whaler's Village for some food too. We parked the car and didn't need to use it during our stay! It definitely catered to the timeshare crowd that made up most of the clientele.
We stayed at the Lanai Tower on 5th floor, with a mountain view. Amazing room, well equipped with everything we needed {microwave, dishes, silverware, coffee maker, clean, iron and iron board, safe, hair dryer, alarm clock, tv, dvd). The mattress was ultra comfortable, feather pillows and digital thermostat. To describe our accommodations in one word: Perfect. The hotel amenities are a pleasent plus. Great pools all over the internal grounds with options for everybody, from kids, youth, active adults, water falls, water fountains, deeper and shallow waters and hot tubs. We had various options for snacks, appetizers coffee, breakfast, beverages andmeals at reasonable prices. The restaurant by the pool level is a nuce and fancy space to have lunch, dinner or just a cocktail. With live Hawaiian music and fancy illumination it has the perfect vibes to set you on a good mood. We definitely recommend this resort.
Marriott Maui Ocean Club is a beautiful resort. All the amenities are excellent and all you need to make your vacation perfect. Staff is exceptional. Marriott has made it a priority that the grounds are kept clean and beautiful. Loved the choices and prices on food and beverages.
Wonderful resort! Beautiful view! Loved the pools! Great staff!
Great for families, spacious rooms and good amenities.
Great pool area and nice layout. Room upkeep was very nice. Staff friendly.
Pools and bars wher close and I liked that. I will stay again.
We loved everything! It was the perfect place to stay, and the ocean view was stunning!
A stay in Maui
The place is lovely. It is not a traditional Marriott hotel but a time share property and so does not have the feel of a hotel. It is a great location.
Perfect Hotel
The Hotel is gorgeous and the staff is extremely friendly!
Very kid-friendly, pool and kid projects are great
Everything was wonderful and the staff was very friendly
Property and facilities were wonderful. Top rate, all around
Female staff were nice at the front desk but male staff weren’t so nice. Property is nice and clean. Housekeeping was quick and responsive if there was an issue or ask. Pool area is nice.
Older property, could use some upgrading . Staff at the pool and security departments need some courtesy courses.
It was an amazing place to stay with a Family! We had the best time!
The pools and lounging areas by the beach were beautiful! The staff were very helpful, especially when an unexpected flood warning took effect. We only wish there were some meals included in the amenities.
Great for couples and families alike.
The Marriott was AMAZING - beautiful hotel and grounds, gorgeous pool and right on the beach, you couldn’t ask for a better place to stay. Housekeeping was perfect as were amenities - such a great place for families too. The only downfall for me personally was the bed was a little too hard so I didn’t sleep well but otherwise it was a wonderful way to celebrate my 40th.
When i booked it did not describe it as a timeshare and not a full service hotel.
It's a nice place to stay. Though the property seems to be a bit old, it's still very comfortable and clean.
Everything you need is there. GREAT location and very friendly staff
Great place to stay with family. Best in the area!
We had a week stay here and it was everything we expected. Staff was great rooms were clean and spacious. Pool and amenities were top notch! Great place!!
Great area for families. Lots of activities for all ages. Friendly staff
Perfect family vacation
We were so happy we chose to stay here! The room was spacious and had very clean and updated accommodations. The grounds were very well maintained and the pools were so perfect! Our children never wanted to leave the resort they loved it so much. We highly recommend Marriott properties and will stay again.
Great location
Great experience, right on the beach within walking distance to other hotels and restaurants. Villas are spacious and well equipped. Great place for kids and adults.
Excellent service at Beachfront Resort
Checked in late after a long day of travels. The toilet in our room had an unknown dark substance inside. Maintenance promptly resolved the issue. The resort was lacking in restaurant choices and beach rental equipment. I had to walk to another resort to rent a boogie board for my children. The resort was very family oriented, other than the lack of ocean equipment. The pools were great, the staff was extremely service oriented and children’s/family activities were well advertised. There was only one sit down restaurant on property (not hotel owned.) The food and service were good; but, an additional option would have been great.
Check in was too late. Check out too early. Not enough room in hospitality room.
Excellent! It was nice to have free washer and dryer. And even detergent!
Womderful Service was amazing Rooms was clean Food was great Thank you
Overall it is a nice hotel, staff not well trained and sometimes inexperience, food and drinks are very expensive inside the resort, staff do not tell you that there is an ABC store close by where prices are cheaper. One bottle of water costs 5 dollars in the resort.
Nice hotel with amazing pool and beach access
We had an awesome experience. Hotel has an exceptionally clean pool and beach access. Lots of activities during the week, restaurants are good. Great place to stay as alone, as a couple and/or children.
Great location, tired hotel. Food was not good.
10 am checkout with no flexibility is unheard of, especially for a Platinum member. Food was horrid.
Full kitchen Kitchen in-room does not have a stove. It has all the appliance but shared kitchen is available downstairs, so for me to bring pots and pens from the 9th floor in order to cook hoping that the stove was available was very inconvenient. Very disappointing.
We arrived on Christmas Eve and were amazed at the view from our Garden Room. There were sweet gifts from the hotel. The pools are awesome. Everyone was very kind.
Amazing facilities - wish we stayed longer! It had everything we needed and more!
I spent more time at the front desk getting keys to my room because every day my key would not work! No cream or sugar in the room for coffee. No tea bags. This property is more worried about their beach towels than customer service. Its not a hotel. Should not need a towel key. We r owners at other properties and Maui Ocean Club nickels and dimes u to death. My airline lost my luggage and this place can't provide basic necessities! Like a toothbrush and toothpaste. Would never recommend this property.
Mostly great
The kids loved all the daily activities eg lei making, beach ball painting, candy Lei's etc). There was also a fun scavenger hunt where they won a prize if they found all of the employees on the card. They loved this and it did make it fun! The hotel also offers kids free treat of the day at 1pm at pool area...shaved ice, ice cream, etc. Room was good with only complaint being the lame pseudo balcony that is like three feet wide...why even have this when it feels dangerous and it is so tight as to be non functioning. A bit dated but again, not bad. Very clean. Starbucks on property with convenient room charging is also huge! Went often. Don't self park as it is $17 per day while valet is $19. Yes, this might mean some tipping but so worth it! Probably the biggest negative was they have a hired towel/lounge chair patrol dude. He was not at all subtle and was somewhat combative with me when I raised an eye brow when he threatened to lock my stuff up poolside if we left our lounges for longer than 90 minutes. It was 6:45am lol and I felt it was intrusive considering that at that hour, multiple lounges were untaken. This guy carries a clip board and takes your name and then tags your chair with a laminated "ticket" right when you leave your lounge. I mean is this the Aloha spirit? Should I be worried like this on my vacation? In my opinion, the answer is a resounding no! I would probably still stay here as the positives outweigh this one big negative...
Have stayed here before. Great location. On the beach and close to shopping and restaurants. Large pool area with plenty of space and live entertainment.
Converting to Condos disrespect to hotel customers
They charge a premium price and deliver low quality everything. It was like the Walmart of hotels. They fail to mention in their ads that they are converting to condo sales so when you get there your first surprise is the hard sale they give you to attend a time share show and then its downhill from there. You will notice the hotel room and grounds are severely outdated and in shabby condition for what you pay. The room had an adjoining door where you could hear everything in the next room. The employees couldn't answer the simplest questions and the managers hid in the back. The other customers were creepy and tried to sell us fish at the pool area and drugs on their beach. We were appalled. I left 3 days early and it burned through a vacation day to find other accommodations and move to a different hotel.
Best Ever!! Wow!!
From the moment we walked into check in area we were impressed and excited. Only to be more impressed as we walked around the entire Resort. And again more so with the overwhelmingly excellent staff. Want to feel like spoiled, then this is the place. The beach is right there! Cabana experience was fabulous. Ocean swam, pooled, and in hot tub everyday. Spa/massage was perfect, ladies were positive. Service service service, with smiles and a can do attitude. Already told all my friends and family to go.
Summer Vacation
We had a lovely vacation here. The facility is beautiful. The bed is very comfortable. The 1-bedroom was spacious for a family of 3. Love the amenities (pools, fitness center, giant size chess/checkers, pool table, ping pong table). Even love the gift shop. Our room had a dishwasher & microwave but no stove.
Nice hotel. Resort style
I was a nice place for our 4yr old. Great pool. Resort style accommodations.
Lovely hotel with terrible food!
Great pool ! My daughter LOVED it. Big enough that kids and adults co-exist and both enjoy it. Beach was on site, beautiful and clean . Grounds are beautiful, relaxing and nicely maintained. Great views. Not much place to just lounge except at pool. Room view was VERY disappointing . Looked at garage with some greenery. Rooms slightly old but clean and have great bedding as always. Food was a major disappointment! Awful, just awful. And super expensive . Would come back though. Just make sure you research where to eat! And be picky about room view since you'll pay for it!
A solid 4-star resort
The Marriott was a solid 4-star resort. I loved that they had organized activities throughout the day, every day (glow in the dark bocce ball, water balloon toss, poker, bingo, lei making, Hula class, etc). Valet service was quick and friendly. The pool area was not quite as fancy as the Westin down the road, but was better for families with toddlers. Pool water was warmer than the Westin's, too. No stovetop in the room, but they have an easily accessed communal kitchen with multiple cooktops. Loved the complimentary fitness classes, especially sunrise yoga out on the lawn. Gorgeous beach, but downside was that the area right in front of the Marriott is quite rocky, so we had to walk down closer to the Westin to swim in the water. Not sure why they have such a late check-in (4 pm) yet an early check out (10 am).
Perfect in Paradise
Our family stayed in the resort, the accommodations over exceeded our expectations! Lots to do with children, beachfront was beautiful! Not many reasons to leave the resort! We will certainly return!
Spacious suite with a nice ocean view. However, the walls are thin and can hear your neighbors. Staff services can also be improved.
Great pool but limited dining
The Marriott Ocean Club is a medium sized hotel in the larger Ka'anapali resort area (also includes Hyatt, Westin, Ka'anapali Golf Course, etc). The hotel used to be primarily a timeshare facility so some of the rooms have kitchens. Ours had a separate living room with fridge and kitchen sink (no stove but there are shared stove facilities across the hallway). The room was great and plenty big for the 3 of us. The main pool is awesome with lots of area and well landscaped so it's not just a big open circle. There are also 2 smaller pools on either side of the hotel. The biggest problem with the Marriott is dining choices. There's one cafe near the pool that has lunch and rotating dinner selections and the pool bars will serve food from that cafe. There's another restaurant onsite but it's not affiliated with the Marriott and you can't charge anything to your room there. My advice is to get a car so you can eat outside the hotel. The selection at the cafe is very small outside of the one dinner special they offer each day. You can walk up the beach to a small mall (Whalers Village) that has some other choices.
Construction zone and amenities closed
I knew there was going to be updates being made to the hotel, but didn't expect the main pool to be closed and for construction in our building to be going on from 6:00 a.m. until after 8:00 p.m. some evenings. If I wasn't on a prepaid visit I would have cancelled on check in and moved to another property. Unfortunately I spent a lot of money to stay in a construction zone with out of commission amenities. I would have expected to pay a 1/4 of what I paid under these circumstances. Very disappointed overall.
They gave me a handicap room & I'm not handicapped
They put me in a handicap room without notifying me first, which I believe is something that should be mentioned to the guest before giving them the room. The staff was friendly about hearing my gripe, I really wanted a bathtub on my vacation!!! I wasn't compensated nor was I moved to another room- they were full and I didn't have time during my stay to switch rooms anyway......oh well. Maui was beautiful!!
Beautiful beach but terrible hotel
You can't beat the location but the hotel had issues. The rooms were extremely dated and smelled like mildew. The hotel management was also completely inflexible about the 10 am checkout time. I had to give a talk the morning of checkout and be at the conference by 6:30 am. I asked for special consideration and the hotel management said no. Epic fail, would never have happened at a Starwood hotel. I will not be coming back, and will be telling my friends not to stay at the Marriott.
Nice resort just at the beach
This is a nice resort with good amenities including grills for barbecuing. However, the main pool was closed for renovations during our entire visit of 10 days. This was such a let down for us!
Not ready for prime time
Rooms are brand new, updated condos. Lovely rooms. Sucks that we went during construction - noise was annoying and it sucked that the pool was under construction as well. We moved down the road to the Westin and boy what a huge difference. The Westin felt like paradise and the Marriott more like a retirement village. Maybe when renovations are complete, the experience will match. Beach walk is nice - connects to other properties and shopping. Food was delicious. Enjoyed the activity center.
Friendly Staff, Clean, and Beautiful Property!
Friendly and welcoming staff! Concierge, Lori was informative and helpful. Bell staff was accommodating with checking luggage very early and having easy access to items on checkout day due to late flight. The property offers two Hospitality Rooms for travelers who need to check out, but want to enjoy the property with late departure. I recommend using the newest Hospitality Room as it is spacious, comfortable and nicely decorated. The only downside was there was not an option for late checkout.
The main pool was closed for repairs but not disclosed when we booked room. Nap in afternoon impossible due to construction in room above us. Staff totally didn't care.
Main pool is under construction.
Should have been warned before booking that the main pool is all torn up. The Lanai tower we stayed in was a dated room- just the bathroom was updated.
No main pool
Nice but dated facility. We were disappointed that the main pool was closed and under construction and there was no notification of that in hotel.com. Staff was amazing and very friendly. A couple of good local restaurants in the neighborhood. The facility is a time share but no pressure sales. We would go back.
Nice hotel, great location
Enjoyed our stay, but was disappointed that we were not told about the renovations of the pool area. The main pool was closed as well as the most convenient bar area
Paradise!
The hotel grounds were beautiful and the location was perfect. You can walk up and down sidewalks along the beach for almost a mile, with shopping and restaurants all along the way. We stayed in a one bedroom suite with two bathrooms. Very roomy and comfortable!
Attentive staff, beautiful grounds
Our family of four (boys 10 & 13) stayed here for spring break and had a great time. The food at the restaurants was delicious--not a bad meal anywhere. The only long line we encountered was at Starbucks in the morning but they were very efficient and it was spring break after all. We played in two of the three pool locations--all lovely. We learned too late that the weekly rental for snorkel gear was cheaper through this hotel than through the nearby online-favorite snorkel store. The waves were rough on this whole line of beach but plenty of kids and adults were still in the water, often boogie boarding. Still, tons of great sand to dig in. The best snorkeling we experienced was right off the beach in front of the hotel (not the touted Black Rock or Napili beaches). Lots of coral so lots of fish. Food options within walking distance are essentially limited to hotels (though every meal was great) and they come with the tourist-resort priced tag. However, the outdoor mall called Whalers Village down the beach has four modestly priced and tasty options in their food court plus lots of other high and lower end stores.
Stay in Kaanpali
The view was gorgeous from our room. We had two balconies, which was enjoyable. Staying above the basketball/tennis court was not a plus. Also, the hotel was very noisy in general. There was a lot to do, which also meant that it was very busy and a bit chaotic. It was also confusing to find different parts of the hotel. We parked in the parking garage and the spaces were minuscule. We were able to navigate it fine, but it also meant that at no fault of the hotel, our rental car was corner-swiped by someone else backing out which caused damage.
Great stay
The staff was very nice. The cleaning person left some extraordinary candy. The room was spacious, although the view could be better (ask for no garage view :) The hotel restaurant is great for breakfast.
Nice Resort
A very nice resort. Very pricey...
I ordered an ocean view suite, I got one on the side of the building with a little bit of ocean view from one side of the balcony. I feel cheated. They won't check in until 4pm, but require to check at 10am. Food there are terrible. Cleaning is done at 3pm. That's when I was back. So I had to skip cleaning for all of my stay.
What a vacation!
This place was amazing! The only reason I didn't give it all 5 for comfort was because I didn't get the room I had paid for and ended up with a handicap room with no bathtub. Other than that, it was in the perfect location and even after I spoke to them about the issue they still took care of me throughout my stay. Their staff is extremely friendly and willing to do what it takes to make you happy. I am 100% going to stay here again when I go back to Maui.
First Ocean Club Stay
My stay was perfect. It got off to a rocky start. The valet and bell desk confused me. I didn't know who was who and the valet staff were not quick to greet us and take our car. It sat with the door wide open and unattended for about 10 minutes.
Comfortable room. Nice staff. The food at the walk up area by the pool was surprisingly really good!
Great Trip!!!
This was my first time in Hawaii. So I knew nothing about location or much about hotels except for what reviews I read. This hotel was absolutely beautiful. Amazing pools and views. The rooms were large and spacious. It was 4 girls. So 2 had a room and the other 2 has the pull out sofa. What was great was the 2 bathrooms. Staff was very friendly and accommodating. It was so close to front street for shopping and restaurants. The beach however has a high tide so there is little beach you have to walk down a bit to get an actually area to set up to lay out.
Nice hotel, good amenities
Had an enjoyable, relaxed stay at the Marriott. The only negative was that we were not interested in a time share and were pressured to attend a meeting.
Great experience
Property needs some up dates or modernized style
