Had a wonderful stay, the receptionists were all very friendly and able to advise about many things that I was interested in doing.

It was a beautiful historic hotel yet had all modern amenities that we needed. The staff was very helpful with all of our questions.

The room had a noisy ac unit that would buzz loudly intermittently through the night. The hallways also had a bad smell on our floor.

Staffs are great and professional. Tons of shops around the area and very convenient to tram and trains. You can take day hiking trip to Uetliberg and another day to Rhinefall. Sheets are clean and beds are comfy. A bit pricy though but it is Switzerland.

Good location, near to best areas

We always stay here when in Zurich. We were a little disappointed that the gym we had access to in the past was no longer in the same location. There are two options which are approx 12-15 min walk away. Not fun in miserable weather. Also a bit weird we had a separate closet for the toilet without sink and had to go into the shower room to wash our hands. Just inconvenient. Overall still a great stay.

Excellent location, convenient for major sightseeing, shopping and transportation. Staff were very warm and helpful. Coop grocery right around the corner. Train station is walking distance, but difficult if carrying luggage. Suggest using the free hotel shuttle.

The property was in a wonderful location!! Only a 10 minute walk from the train station and right in the heart of popular restaurants, shopping, and bars. The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. We utilized the baggage drop and printer with ease. Would stay here again and recommend to friends!

If you want a quiet, relaxing accommodating staff in SCENIC Italy this is the place. Best owner and staff I've run across while traveling through Italy.

Nice quiet boutique hotel in an excellent location

Good service, clean and spacious rooms, cold aircon. Free coffee in lobby area for hotel guests was also appreciated.

Excellent and helpful staff.

This hotel is in a very good place to see the old town and sample excellent restaurants. The stuff in the hotel is very helpful in everything. But in a four star hotel one would like having a cafe in the mornin in room, not going three levels down and lifting up thr cofr into thr room. Btw. one has to put onto the floor one cup to be able to start the lift with the security card. There are only two small glasses in the bathroom for drinking anything..For ice one has to go to the concierge who serves with enthusiasm when not busy with check in and out. In summary that hotel would worth max 3 star level anywhere else.

Very nice hotel lobby area and staff at reception were friendly. Really liked the complementary welcome glass of orange juice and the fountain outside the corridors for drinking water.

We had the historic double for 3 adults in town for the Taylor Swift concert and it was plenty of space for all of us. The rooms were clean and the staff was friendly. The hotel was very walkable for everywhere we wanted to go. Would recommend this hotel to others.

My only complaint is that the bed seemed quite old and sagged in the middle. In addition, my room was slanted -- I was okay due to my height but if you are taller than 5'5, you'd really struggle to walk around.

Can’t imagine a more conveniently located, clean, and safe hotel. Within a couple of blocks is a HUGE variety of bars, restaurants, cultural and sightseeing options. Even the the Niederdorf can be a noisy and slightly raucous neighborhood, the double pane windows let absolutely no traces of any of that through. The staff was lovely and even offered me a glass of welcoming Prosecco as I checked in. As much as I love a room on an upper floor (and I make a point of always walking and not taking elevators, especially since I was traveling lightly) the ceiling on the 4th floor was quite low. Being rather tall, I had to avoid bumping my head - and when I got up in the middle of the night - sure enough - I gave it a real whack in my partial sleep. I’m grateful for the complimentary shower hair covering provided in the bathroom, because I put it on in order to avoid blood stains on the pillow cases and sheets. Well, I didn’t expect that, but the staff was sweet about it all and entered a note in my profile that next time (and there will be a next time) I’d prefer a room on a floor with higher ceilings.

Quiet but convenient location in the center of Zurich. Room with modern décor and high ceilings was clean; complimentary coffee and tea provided in the lobby 24 hours. There are numerous restaurants in the area with lots of shops!

We loved the staff, cleanliness and generally found it comfortable but could have used more hooks to hang our towels.

Loved this hotel! Great location, near restaurants and shopping. Also near the tram to get everywhere! Our room surprised us with a balcony. The only one in the hotel. What a treat. Friendly staff. And very clean room.

Fantastic location in the heart of Zürich. Super welcoming staff and a cozy reception area with free coffee/tea facilities. The room was tiny as booked - that said everything is of very good quality, including the Firestein cosmetics in the bathroom and an extra comfy bed. If the budget allows, I’ll be back.

A stylish boutique hotel in the old city.

A true boutique hotel in a great location in the old city. I especially like the public spaces for working and hanging out. They are pretty, quiet, and well equipped with coffee, tea, etc.

Great hotel in amazing location! Spacious and modern room (we booked the large double) in cute Ecco friendly hotel. Staff were very kind and provided great customer service. Breakfast was fine but not too expensive and in a cute little restaurant. The hotel bar is great for apéro or an after dinner drink! Strongly recommend and would return.

A very quick visit but excellent service and great accommodations!

The location was central and great. The room was modern and clean but a little bare bones. There was only one big towel. The room was on the smaller side and not much space to unpack. Also, there was no doorman or anyone to assist with luggage when arriving to the hotel.

Our short weekend stay in Zurich was wet so the lounge facility with free tea and coffee was welcome. Perfectly located in quaint street behind the GrossMunster, close to bars restaurants and shops. Hotel was clean with large rooms and good heating. We liked the separated toilet and bathroom. Huge bed, small wardrobe/hanging space. Lovely staff from reception to housekeeping.

Beautiful historical hotel in a great location with super welcoming staff. We were there for our honeymoon and got a stunning historical room. The bathroom is huge with the coolest bathtub we’d ever seen. The room is swanky and cool. Great breakfast and great local fondue recommendations from the staff. Would love to come back.

Downtown. Zurich

Nice hotel. Right in the heart of Zurich, with the pedestrian street right in front. Big spacious room. Only negative is that there’s no parking for your vehicle. It was a real pain to get there. And I had several suitcases.

Lovely Service but Room Disappointing

Staff were friendly, and helpful. very eco conscious, loved the water with the jugs and glasses on each floor. The room however was disappointing the whole room was on a slope I felt like it was a tent pitched at the side of a mountain. Not advisable for tall people, I’m 5’6 and the ceiling I could almost touch on my tippy toes, felt like I was in an attic.

The hotel was in a great location. the staff were very friendly. Rooms were very spacious and clean. The only thing that was difficult was the parking. You had to get drivers preapproved to drive up to the hotel.

The dinner in the hotel is delicious!

The hotel is hard to find or get to by car. Our taxi driver couldn’t get us to the front door due to road closures and the very narrow road in front of hotel is a private road. You can only get a car in there with a code which the hotel will provide. We had to pull our very heavy luggage to the hotel. The staff were very nice and helpful. They arranged our taxi to train station when we checked out and the driver was already waiting for us in the lobby. The room was very spacious and comfortable. Restaurants and shops were an easy to walk to. Overall a nice stay.

Nice Hotel in Old Town Zurich

Marktgasse Hotel is in the heart of old town Zurich and within walking distance to everything including numerous historical sites, restaurants, shopping and about 15min walk to the main train/bus station. Staff was very friendly and helpful. The hotel is very modern and appears updated. The large double room was spacious and quite comfortable. Every floor has a self serve mineral water tap free of charge and tastes great. Downfall is that toilet is separate from rest of the bathroom which can become a little uncomfortable. Also rooms are expensive for the amenities offered. Overall was an enjoyable stay.

Perfect location, very good rooms

The location of the hotel could not have been better. It was smack in middle of the old town and the room that we booked (Double king) was pretty big to accomodate 2 adults and 1 toddler. The bathroom was clean and so was the rest of the room and the lobby. My only red/orange flag with this hotel was that the receptionists were not very friendly, sometimes being rude. Also, beware of the breakfast option the hotel provides at a cost, it wasn't good. They charged 18 CHF for a very underwhelming brekkie at a restaurant downstairs.

This was a convenient, clean stop in Old Town Zurich. The only drawback was construction outside the hotel which they had no control over. All staff were very helpful and courteous .

The hotel was very clean and centrally located. Only issue was the city bustles around you at night and it could get a little loud while you try to sleep!

Great central location to old town

Great central location to old town and exploring. I only spent one night, but the space was quiet. I had an interior facing single room. Breakfast was a bit sparse, but I don’t eat a big breakfast anyway.

Center of old town, easily accessible with luggages as only 2 tram stops away from train station. Many good restaurants and attractions nearby. Room very clean, very friendly receptionist.

Great stay!

Our stay was wonderful in every respect. Staff was very friendly and helpful, including having our room ready three hours early and arranging early morning transportation to the airport for our departure. Room was large and comfortable. Staff provided adapters for our chargers. Area was quiet. Cafe staff was friendly and helpful. Old town location was great, 1 block from the river and streetcar/tram and a 15 minute walk to the train station. Highly recommend this hotel - just a great stay and service overall.

The staffs at the hotel is very informative and very helpful. The hotel is located just a block away from Banhofstrasse, which is one of the most luxurious shopping street in Zurich. Also, lots of restaurants and cafes around the hotel..

There was an awful smell of raw sewage throughout the hotel. No apology, no explanation, let alone a discount or refund was offered. No one to collect luggage. A reception on the first floor and a lift that, unbeknown to the staff, didn't work! One of the worst experiences we have had staying anywhere.

Breakfast, rooms, staff, all disappointing. Location was very good.

Room was very comfortable and the location was great. The room we had seemed larger in person than it did in the pictures. Plus the bathroom was very spacious. Perfectly located near many food options.

Well designed small bedroom with very comfortable bed. Nice staff with cozy welcoming reception area. Unfortunately the the bathroom cleanliness of the bathroom wasn’t perfect with quite some left over small hair from previous guests on the wal where one can hang wet towels.

Perfect location in the heart of the old town

What a fantastic location! It made up for some of the things that were missing in this chic hotel, like the fact there is no minibar/fridge so you can keep drinks cold. We did love that there was a water fountain on every level though to get fresh water, but a small fridge would make it perfect. Bathrooms are pretty small and the shower was a bit clunky/temperamental but I loved the overall styling of our room and did I mention the location?! Such a fantastic spot to experience Zurich. The old town’s pebbled roads means the noise outside is very loud especially if you like to sleep with the windows open (in October it was the perfect temperature to do that) but there is also aircon if you prefer (although also a noisy unit). The cafe downstairs isn’t great & coffee was terrible but there are many other options around the hotel (make sure to hunt down ViCafe for best coffee closer to ‘Aussie style’ - 2 are close to the hotel & excellent - LeCafe is super cute!). IGNIV is an experience to remember - we enjoyed a fantastic long lunch there and it was worth every penny/franc! A once in a lifetime kind of experience and perfect to break up the monotony found in the majority of restaurants in the area. For a cheaper option, we had a fantastic dinner at Trattoria Sempre for tapas style Italian fare - top notch quality especially the pizza fritta OMG! Although the hotel lacks a few 5 star services like turn down, slippers, soft cozy robes & a minibar, I would stay here again.

Perfect location

The hotel is in the middle of everything. You get to to stay in a historic building with the convenience of modern amenities. To get to the airport, it’s a 3- min walk to the tram stop from the hotel doorstep, then you get an airport train from Zurich HB. Under 30 mins to the airport.

Hotel location and facility excellent as well as excellent friendly accommodating staff

My wife and I had a fantastic stay at Marktgasse. The staff was extremely helpful, the room was fantastic, and you can not beat the location! We stayed a total of 7 nights in one of the larger rooms and could not have been happier.

Excellent Hotel to Stay in Old Town Zurich

Service was definitely the key take away--staff at reception very friendly and helpful. Hotel is in perfect location to all attractions. 15minute walk to train and tram to airport. A lot of food options near the hotel. Room is good for couple or solo traveler, a little small but design to maximize the space and ease the guests "claustrophobia"

Centrally located hotel, helpful staff, eco friendly (they use water fountains at each floor with glass bottles and glasses available for guests so no plastic bottles), near the shops and many restaurants and quiet. Rooms are large and spacious.

I was immediately given a room even though I was very early

The hotel is in an excellent location in the old town, and the staff was very helpful. Unfortunately, our room on the top floor was the smallest and worst configured room I have stayed in in a very long time. It is in the attic, with sloping walls that make it impossible to get into one side of the king bed without hitting ones head. The room and bathroom were too small to accommodate our two suitcases and toiletries.

Great location in the heart of Zurich’s old town, and very pleasant and helpful staff. My only complaint is that there isn’t enough storage space for clothes in the room; my husband and I literally couldn’t unpack our suitcases.
