We only had a night stay but it was perfect. The team were kind enough to let us check in earlier as our flight landed in the morning and we headed straight to the beach which was very chilled. We didn’t even bother with the pool as this was packed. Had to pay for the beach umbrella and sun lounger for the day but I understand that’s not unusual..Also I suffer from neck pain and had requested a firm pillow which was in the room when we got in. Brilliant. Breakfast was combination of cold cuts, hot food, various baked goods and was perfectly fine to set you yo for the day. Thank you so much for a brilliant start to our anniversary holiday:)
No mention on Expedia that we would incur 28EUR/day cost for sunloungers/umbrella. Indoor pool was closed 7 out of 9 days. 1 of the 2 lifts was broken for majority of stay. Room was cramped but with modern fittings. Housekeeping were excellent.
Well kept and had our best experience so far with no no hassle
Fantastic views and staff lovely and extremely helpful through the hotel.
Beat expectations
What a fabulous place to stay!! My friend and I stayed for a week and we were so comfortable. The location is brilliant, staff really helpful and friendly, food fresh and tasty and the facilities were modern.
Disappointing stay…food basic standard.. poor quality meat..not much variety… close to bars.. mainly a clubbers paradise cheap food… bars and clubs..
For a three star hotel the Maistre offered excellent services. Spacious and very comfortable rooms with amazing views from the balcony across the mountains and the sea. I had a problem with my room and the staff came up sorted it out immediately. Breakfast was a little limited but satisfactory. Mlini itself is a lovely peaceful area.
Good hotel near the sea shore and beach. All facilities under one roof.
Absolutely love this hotel and Dubrovnik. Everyone was so sweet and friendly. A definite must see.
Very relaxed stay with friendly staff and excellent facilities and great location ....I would rate highly
Staff was very good and kind
Nice hotel!
The hotel was great lovely position my only criticism was the breakfast same every day hot food wasnt very hot could do with improving and better coffee
Good location and quiet!
I like the position of the hotel and small rocky beach nearby. The room was a small size and not comfortable for 2people.The room was without a fridge which must be available in the summer and in the heat only for a few drinks. Service at the reception was very helpful and efficient!!Thank you for that and very velcoming!!
Nice for stoney beach. Big hill to get to main road not easy for the elder generation. Bar staff nice, reception not so helpful. But overall a pleasant stay.
Overall stay was nice. Staff was very welcoming and nice.
I REALLY tried to find more reasons to give this place more than one star…. Do yourself a favor and stay somewhere else. First of all. This is definitely not a 3 star hotel which is why I think I was upset the most. False advertising. *Very outdated hotel * Very rude staff * Slow service. 45 minute wait for two overpriced drinks made by an angry bartender * Tiny tiny rooms * No elevator. It would take 109 stairs to get to our floor. Yes, I counted out of curiosity one day. Fine for the most part, but not when you have injured foot *No iron. Called the front desk to ask for one and they were so rude about it. We showed up to our fancy dinner looking like bums * Breakfast buffet is chaotic and offers nothing but cheap food * Dirty rooms with bugs everywhere * Very thin walls. You will get to know your neighbors * Last one and worst one…. NO AIR CONDITIONING!!!! We’ve had the worst week because of this. It’s hot outside. Very hot. I live in Germany. I understand AC is not like the United States. BUT, This is just ridiculous. Imagine It being hit outside, walking up all those stairs, and into a hot room. We called twice about it, and asked nicely. Nothing was done. The room was so hot that most nights my husband slept on the floor, and I would wake up multiple times a night to take cold showers. You are soaking in sweat while you are getting ready. There is just this tiny machine that blows air and that’s what they have. Just a terrible experience. Don’t stay ther
Lovely hotel, rooms are basic and not massive but clean and comfortable especially the bed! It would be better if there was tea and coffee making facilities in the room and a small fridge for water - the staff were exceptional, friendly and kind - the pool is lovely and a special mention for the bar on the beach! You will have a great time if you choose this hotel
Friendly staff. Great location for boats to Dubrovnik. Courtesy bus from hotel also great service and reasonable. Restaurants on site were good too.
Great except for air conditioning
The hotel was clean and the location was great. It was overall a nice hotel. However, we had problems with the air conditioning in our room. We told a member of staff and nothing was ever done about it. This made our room hard to sleep in and dampened our experience of the hotel. I would recommend bringing or buying your own fan, they will do nothing about the air conditioning if you complain. Other than this, everything else was perfect.
I just stayed here for one night, but was impressed with the property aesthetics and service including breakfast. The rooms have balconies which I really loved. Well situated near the Mlini riviera.
Peaceful well located property. Food excellent and rooms comfy
We came to see Dubrovnik but we ended up staying most of our stay im the BEAUTIFUL Mlini!!! Hotel is great, everything is great, walk through Mlini shore is awesome, we did it at least twice a day, and at the end there is a supermarket and shopping center with very good prices... for sure try the pedalo, vey cheap and AMAZING experience, the hotel pool is awesome for swimming, do it after 4 PM so that it’s less busy, i would recommend going to see the sunset too through a walk in the shore, VERY beautiful...

Thr location is excellent, beach front and pool is a plus. However, we were shocked and extremely dossapointed that drinks (even water) were provided at cost during dinner's buffet service. What kind of buffet service charges for water? The buffet dinner was really dissapointing, and the food included boiled pasta with no toppings or sauces. Yes, they had a varieity of food but it was bland and low quality. Charging $300 a night, we expected much more than that. Unfortunately, we will not be visiting this hotel again.
Great location on the beach and convenient for visiting Dubrovnik.
Very pleasant, housekeeping was very nice and proactive
Lovely hotel and staff very friendly and helpful. Some activity program not very clear of where it’s held, as I was looking forward to joining in the yoga class was told it be done by the pool, we waited as instructed only to find out it was just held to the side and by the top entrance of the hotel!! Not impressed
Great stay, great location
poor
This is ok if you want basic, the biggest flaw with this hotel is the staff no matter what money you spend you expect to be greeted with basic friendliness, the staff here are completely unenthusiastic about their guests no so much as a “thank you , hello , good morning nothing . The gym is filthy and there is no air. restaurants have the same level of service as the front desk . Nearest supermarket 15/20 mins walk.
Disappointing. Rooms need updating and are too small. Poor amenities. We were not given beach towels. Payment required for use of sunbeds & umbrellas.
We didn’t realize until we arrived that our room was in the annex. There are villas on site too that looked nice. Overall we were happy with the hotel and location. The room was small and basic but the view of the sea was lovely. The place was clean and the shuttle/taxi service was good.
Location of hotel not great if your under 50 years old very quiet area
Disappointed
Not much around, very little entertainment and when weather is poor you need something, even a quiz etc..breakfast was very same each day but not much you can do with it to be fair...kept running out of fried eggs etc at quite a rate, experience should tell them to put more out each time, and sliced bread for toast, asked the lady in charge, she in the trouser suit twice within 10 mins and still waited, seemed more concerned with trivial things like plates and glass when there where thousands of them available...constantly telling others what to do but doing not much herself..not up to standard I’m afraid..
Convenient location not far from Dubrovnik, nice beach, great sunset view from my room.
Fab Trip
We were very pleased with both the position, the area and the hotel. We will definitely visit Croatia and this hotel again. The only downside is it is a very hilly area, so not suitable for everyone, but shuttles buses available.
Great hotel in perfect location
Lovely hotel in a quaint little village resort really close to the pebble beach which is no problem as it is served with sun lougers and umbrellas. The hotel it's self is spotlessly clean and the rooms (ours seemed recently referbished) are comfortable although we couldn't seem to get the air conditioning to work which would have been my only gripe. Other than that it's a perfect hotel to base yourself for visiting both Cavtat and the old town.
not able to adjust temp to make the room cooler though the ac unit was working.
Very outdated hotel, no towels provided for the beach (VERY inconvenient!) and overall it’s a rundown and outdated property. Rooms are ugly and the beds were horrible and uncomfortable. To top off a miserable stay, the hotel is in rude open sin all day and the rooms have air conditioners that must be 20+ years old. Rooms get hot to say the least and hallways are unbearable. For a “resort destination” this property has A LOT to learn. If you are coming from the States and are used to modern facilities even at a moderate level, stay far away from this hotel!!!
The hotel is situated in wonderful place facing Adriatic Sea and very close to the beach. Everything there was very nice except the size of room. It's so small that two people can't navigate without bumping in each other. Same issue with the bathroom - it's very tiny. But again - in all other respects it's a great place to enjoy your vacation.
Nice hotel, lovely location
The hotel is in a great location, right on the beach in the lovely resort of Mlini. Our room was a bit small but the balcony was huge with an amazing view of the sea & surrounding area. The hotel food was disappointing, luckily we were on a bed & breakfast option so we were able to eat at the many good local bars & restaurants at lunchtime/ evening. I would not recommend going half board or all inclusive. We enjoyed trips to Cavtat & Dubrovnik on the local ferries which ran frequently. Information about trips, excursions etc was lacking at the hotel but this may be different if booking through a travel agent where there may be a representative available & a welcome meeting. The pool area at the hotel is lovely & well maintained & apart from the first 2/3 days of our holiday when it was very busy, there were sun loungers & parasols available throughout the day. We thoroughly enjoyed our holiday & would recommend Hotel Astarea on a breakfast only option.
Pool and apartments excellent, hotel staff great
A great stay we were lucky enough to be in the one of the apartments, pool area v clean, quite busy but a lovely spot. places to eat and drink lunch, dinner within a brief walk of the hotel. Beach right by hotel, bit stony and tricky to get in the water, perhaps not good for children or take swim shoes, good for snorkeling. Boat trip to Dubrovnik goes regularly day and evening, takes about 25 mins each way but worth it. Dubrovnik v pretty but very busy and perhaps slightly spoilt by shops, dont need 4 branches of the same sweet shop really ;o) Overall, great hotel, good value, food good, great staff
Lovely hotel, walking distance to restaurants
We had an amazing time. Loved the indoor pool, and also outdoor pool. We did enjoy the beautiful scenery and loved the walks on the promenade. The hotel offers good value for money. We will definitely return.
Great location, great hotel... lovely pool...
This hotel was great value for money, great facilities, a lovely location and the staff were very friendly....
Nice hotel close to the beach
Hotel staff were friendly and helpful. The activity girls were full of fun, encouraging guest to join in without being pushy. Lucida was great with her aqua aerobics. Drinks in the beach bar were a bit pricey. We had a room in the annex with fabulous sea views. Nothing fancy about the room but clean and comfortable and large shower with hot water.
Horrible hygiene. Run away! Hi
Charming reception staff. Room hygiene unacceptable.
Excellent location
This hotel is perfectly located in Mlini with pool, beach and walkable nearby restaurants. Easy to get to Dubrovnik for the day so excellent for us! Just don't stay in the Annexe!! Much outdated to the main hotel, very dark and cramped with not great air conditioning.
Air conditioning was non existant and it was realky hot, so getting a good night sleep was out of the question. The breakfast buffet wasn't great and had a problem finding something eddible. On the other hand the pool and beach were excellent.
Highly recommend this great hotel and staff
We had a wonderful stay at Hotel Asatrea, the staff, restaurants and pools / beach were all great!
reception staff and entertainment girls/restaurant staff very helpful and friendly, food very average and had to miss out on breakfast after first couple of mornings. lovely pool(s) and great location. coffee facilities in room and more toiletries would have been god as you only get soap and shampoo.
Nice Location for quiet holiday
Hotel location nice for quiet relaxing holiday. Hotel staff helpful and polite. Only negative point about our stay was that we had a lovely room overlooking the sea with large terrace, but we were unable to use the terrace during the day as there was no Sun shade (canopy).
Great location quiet and friendly
Stayed in annexe. Air con not very good. Lovely place to stay with lots to do. Slept with balcony door open most nights, really quiet as no bars nearby or roads. Lovely sea view. Pool good and clean. Indoor sea water pool too. Beach ok but beach shoes a must. A lot of large rocks in sea. Eat at Restaurant Marinero and visit Lokrum. Will return to Croatia definitely.
Love love love Mlini
We loved the hotel..it’s not ultra up to date but it is perfect in every other way and so is beautiful Mlini itself..we will be back!
Stay here!!
Stayed for a week in an annexe room with balcony and sea view. Stunning views!!! The room was lovely and clean. The Beach Bar food and cocktails were superb but our favourite for food was the Pizziera on the front belonging to the hotel. Further along, boat trips available, friendly sales people. Opposite this a local cuisine restaurant, Konoba Lanterna - small but cosy and the food was fantastic. A bit along the coast we enjoyed a few drinks and some live music at Caffe Bar Gusar and the bar staff made excellent cocktails, great to end the evening. Last but not least, around the corner of Bar Gusar is another cute little restaurant called Bistro Caffe Bar G!! The Hotel itself had plenty of choice for breakfast, great facilities eg shop, pool area was spotless, taxi service. We were gutted to go home!!! Highly recommended!!!
Good facilities,kind staff,clean & comfortable room
Well situated
Very nice hotel. Well situated. My only adverse comment is that they play dull repetitive electronic 'music'....if you can call it that!! in the reception, bar and restaurant.
Good budget hotel.
Hotel rooms were small, basic and clean. We stayed in the annex. If you don't want to spend lots of time in your room they are fine. Balcony view was amazing, beautiful. The hotel facilities were good and breakfast while not amazing was up to standard. It is 3 star and lives up to that rating. Great for a budget but not luxury. The hotel is perfect for exploring, easy to walk out of the complex and just wander all the nearby areas or jump on a boat to Dubrovnik or Cavtat.
Decent hotel but room for improvement
Liked lots of things about this hotel, which is in a very beautiful setting.
Good hotel in a great location
First, Mlini is a great place to stay in southern Croatia - close to Dubrovnik and other interesting towns and sites; also very close to both the borders of Montenegro and Bosnia/Herzegovina. Beautiful sea and access to boats. The Astarea Hotel is one component of a larger conglomerate, the Dubrovnik Riviera Hotels, which manages at least 2 large hotels and several restaurants in the area. That said, the Astarea Hotel offers a lot - great location, indoor and outdoor pools, fitness center, several on-site restaurants, private beach, free parking. Our room in the main building was good, but there were only twin beds available (not so good for a couple...), room service changed towels and made the bed, but did not clean. I am not fond of carpets in hotels and the ones in the room and in the corridors should have been changed out for tile or wood years ago. All in all, a good place to stay for a relaxing holiday. A plug for a local musician....on Wednesdays and Saturdays a local musician, Tomaslav Zerovnik, performs classical guitar in the chapel of St. Rocco (Sv. Roko).
-10000
It was horrible I would not let pigs stay there we called customer service there was no help some idiots from India then they charge us extra for another room I want full refund and these idiots not to charge anyone else like this they divide our family 0 out of 10 rating they did not let us eat room was dirty and I took pictures
Worth the money
Very clean, very friendly staff and decent hotel well worth for the price. The poolarea was nice and the pool clean. No problems finding sunbed. The beach however was one of the worst I've seen. Even the sea at that particular section is far from what Croatia has to offer. Breakfast was ok and everything nice and clean. All in all, worth the stay.
Nice hotel, clean
Very clean. Local restaurants good. Pool excellent. Breakfast very good.
Great location, great pool, friendly staff.
Mlini is beatiful and relaxing, the hotel is great value. We stayed bed & breakfast and were more than happy.
Okay Hotel - Beautiful area
This hotel is not more than average but adequate for our overnight stay before going to Dubrovnik airport the next day. The dinner and breakfast buffets had a good variety to choose from. Our room was musty and the bathroom very tight. I did not swim at the beach or in the pool.
Great location and pool
Location excellent, the pool area is one of the nicest we have ever experienced but a little crowded while we were there in early July. Rooms good, only criticism would be lack of a fridge which given the heat at this time of year would have been nice, also air conditioning was a little eratic. Food on the whole was good, we only ate breakfast and had the occasional lunch. Our main issue was the unhelpful reception staff, I asked for the key for the room safe to be told it had gone missing and they hadn't ordered a replacement, no apology or willingness to get a replacement. I rang down one day to ask for times of the shuttle bus to be told I had to come down and look for myself, bearing in mind I was on the 2nd floor and the receptionist was stood 10 yards away from the timetable which is on the desk next to reception, quite unbelievable.
Lovely view of the sea and beach
Good things: nice breakfast every morning and a reasonable variety of food. Fantastic views of Adriatic from our room. Great 50mtr indoor pool. Absolutely beautiful area. Not so good: our rooms were a couple of hundred yards from the hotel. Breakfast repetitive, some staff grumpy, furniture in rooms decrepit.
Too good to mention
Love this hotel. Have stayed 3 times in a variety of different rooms. This time we only booked bed and breakfast as the local restaurants are fabulous. You can use public transport, the shuttle bus to Cavcat or Dubrovnik or the little ferry. Fabulous location and the indoor pool is amazing.
Good hotel just need to be more informative
very nice hotel, clean and room not as big as we thought it would be but pleasant enough. Was reasonably sound proofed. AC wasn't very strong, still got very warm at nights, even when left on. Regular change of towels, but never replaced toiletries which was disappointing. Our only real concern is that on check in we were not told about the free safety deposit box and were not told that we needed a ticket to get out of the car park, this was distressing running back and forth trying to get the barrier to move when we had a plane to catch. But overall a good hotel
Good bang for your buck
Very nice staff excellent service. Rooms are a little poorly upkept ie mold on shower ceiling. Beautiful area.
Very clean but dated.
Clean hotel but lacked information for guests. Paid for a superior deluxe seaview room but had a small room with a seaview if you craned your neck around another three balconies !! No tea and coffee making facilities for a superior room. Breakfast okay but basic. When questioned reception staff we were rudely told 'what do you expect from a three star budget hotel' !
audrian
Great hotel for a quiet holiday we were there in May
Nice quiet hotel, stunning views
Very pleasant stay at the Hotel Astarea. The staff went out of their way to make our stay pleasant, even upgrading our room when we asked about replacing the twin singles for a double bed. The area is absolutely stunning. Really enjoyed the food, Dubrovnik was a short boat ride or taxi ride away but to be honest the best thing was simply chillaxing around Mlini. If you're after a quiet relaxed stay, you will find it here. If you want burgers, chips and a fried breakfast it probably isn't for you.
Well sited hotel for beach and local bars and for
The main hotel rooms have been refurbished to a reasonable standard and are worth staying in. The rooms in the annexe need a complete refit and we would not recommend them at any price. A lack of information in the rooms needs to be addressed by the hotel there was nothing relating to guest safety in the event of fire, no details of services provided such as discounts at associtated restaurants and bars. You have to ask about anything you want to know. This probably will not be a problem if you are on a package tour but it is if you are an independant traveller.
Hotel Astarea Mlini
Family break Good breakfast Clean hotel Nice hotel pool However bar atmosphere lacking, and disappointed that table tennis was charged. Nice location near sea quiet, friendly nearby restaurants
Great views, close to restaurants and clean throughout. Last shuttle bus from Dubrovnik back to hotel is too early at 9pm. I'm sure people have pointed this out, but would be better if the last bus was later!
Value for money
Hotel perfect for our holiday, great pool, on beach (although pebbles so take appropriate shoes if you want to swim in the sea). Room and breakfast basic but for the price we paid were happy with it. No fridge in room but waitress in bar gave us a huge bag of ice and some glasses so we could enjoy our aperatif on the balcony. Hotel owns some restaurants in the village which give you 10% off if you put on your room. Not highly publicised only found out through trip advisor
Smallest room in the hotel, no lift 6 flights of stairs every day, dirty floors when arrived. Water was £2.50 for a small bottle ( £1.10 for 6 litres at supermarket) ants everywhere in room by pool everywhere.
Decent hotel close to Dubrovnik
Me and my boyfriend had a terrible time at this hotel. Upon arrival we were told that our room is in the annex and not in the main building. The reception staff were not friendly or accommodating. They couldn't even escort or help us with our luggage to the annex building in the dark. Terrible service!. The rooms in the annex are small with no safe, fridge or tea making facilities. The breakfast every day was not great. It got worse the longer we stayed. Nobody at the hotel reception were forthcoming with letting us know what excursions and things we could do during our stay there. We found a bus that takes you to Dubrovnik old town in 10 mins. I would definitely recommend taking the bus to Dubrovnik old town to find decent places to eat and drink. You have so much more options there. If you are looking for a lively, welcoming hotel/area to stay do NOT stay here. Mlini is a very quiet village for older people or families not really for young people in your 20s or 30s.
Clean and friendly staff
Hotel was clean and staff were friendly and very helpful. As I arrived before my husband they asked me to go with them and pick him up from the airport. Hotel could do with a refurbishment bit old and tired looking but still neat and tidy. As I was in mlini and it is now there 'off season' there wasn't much going on so could get late check out without prior notice.
Great relaxed setting and base for excursions
This hotel is in a beautiful area which is a lot more relaxed thab places like Dubrovnik and Cavtat, but being so close to both towns you have the best of both worlds with easy travel to both destinations. We stayed in the annex which had an amazing sea view balcony. Unfortunately there was no fridge in the room so enjoying a cool drink on the balcony wasn't really possible. There was an obvious space for a fridge in the room but the reception desk told us none of the rooms have fridges (which is funny because I've seen reviews where people stated that they did gave a fridge). We did ask for a bag of ice from the hotel bar a couple of times which helped but was a bit of an inconvenience to have to do so. The room also had no safe. The hotel offers a safe in the reception, but this again is an inconvenience. We stayed half board but ended up eating out a lot as the food wasn't that good, and we quickly got tired of the buffet format where many people are all huddled around the food all once. Most of the restaurants in the area provide a much better dining experience. The hotel facilities were great, and we had no trouble finding space at the pools, beach or gym although I think it would've beeb much busier if we'd stayed during school holidays. We would definitely go again but would prefer to take bed and breakfast or self catering options.
Good location
Rooms a bit basic - and would have liked a mini bar. Bathrooms cleaned daily but the rest of the room left untouched. Food okay, but a bit sameish - particularly breakfasts. Good pool and beachside location. Mlini very nice.
peaceful and pleasant location
A nice, very large hotel complex in peaceful surroundings, with plenty of facilities, two pools, gym, hotel shuttle and own pebble beach. Lots of restaurants and even small shops in the same complex. Situated on the Dubrovnic riviera, has beautiful views and easy access to the medieval town of Dubrovnic and other nearby towns and villages.. Dubrovnic is accessible by public bus or by hotel shuttle, costing 25 Kuna = 3.5 E approx each way per person. Our room was in an adjacent building to the main hotel and had recently renovated bathrooms, new carpets and freshly painted walls. It was comfortable and clean. Being on the ground floor had leafy views, but not much of a sea view. However there was no lift in this building. Nevertheless this is an excellent hotel for families and elderly couples who want to relax and stay away from crowds, noisy streets and night clubs.
Lovely location, couldn't be better.
Pros:The hotel had an amazing location and view. The pools were beautiful indoor and out door. The massage I had was great. The gym is small but functional, no cross trainer though. The sea is crystal clear, the beach is clean, and people are extremely honest and trusting. It is very safe and beautiful. Cons: I booked twin rooms but got a double room. No tea or coffee making facilities. I was located in the annex and not the main part of the hotel as I believed I would be. There are no lifts in the annex so we had to lug our heavy cases up 3 floors. Exhausting. Customer service needs to be reviewed as the staff are not intuitive but reactive. You have to ask for everything, there is no welcome pack I could see. Not a fan of the hotel food, sorry but the cafe bars on the beach were great. My daughter is lactose intolerant, and there is little understanding of this over there so my daughter ate bread mostly :( The cleaning staff did not refresh the toilet roll on one day so we ran out, and had to use napkins and face wipes, they did not refresh the shampoo either so I bought some. You have to ask for a safe.
Nice base between Dubrovnik and Cavtat.
A good standard complex. Reception staff very approachable and everyone very happy to converse in English.nice choice with meals at breakfast and dinner. Kids club entertainers were excellent both during day activities and evening disco. Stunning views out to sea from the room's balcony. Perfectly located between Dubrovnik ( and Lokrum Island) and Cavtat.
Fabulous position close to beach.
Short transfer 15 to 20 mins. On the beach within 10 mins of arrival. Disappointed not to have fridge in room of a four star hotel. Great dining experience. Excellent variety of food on offer, well cooked well presented and plenty of it. All staff very helpful. Good gym and indoor pool. Although did not use outdoor pools they looked great. Spent most time on the beach. Plenty of loungers available on beach and poolside. Teenagers may find it too quiet although lots of water activities on offer. Like most resorts the water sports were expensive. Nice array of entertainment in evenings down by the beach. Good value for money in local bars and restaurants. Lots of restaurants / bars to choose from.
Decent hotel, not a luxury one
Nice hotel if not a little dated. Happy enough with it for price we paid. Rooms basic but clean, could do with being decorated. Quiet area, enough restaurants to last a week. Nearest minimarket a good 20-25 mins walk
Excellent , all one could ask for in a hotel
Staff excellent So friendly and polite Can't praise this hotel enough
GOOD RETURN VISIT
We stayed at this hotel last year and it lived up to our expectations. This is a lovely quiet friendly hotel and the staff make you very welcome. The rooms are good 3 star and we had a lovely side room with a side view of the Adriatic and the woods/garden surrounding the hotel. The shower is amazing! They have free WiFi and the room safe is free. There is another wing opening soon and they have improved the surroundings on the way to the bay since last year. There is a lovely open bar area for the evening overlooking the Adriatic. The food buffet is always good with a big variety and plenty of food at both breakfast and dinner. There is a stony beach below the hotel which seems to attract young families from both tourists and locals. There is also a small beach/snack bar open until 6pm which serves good food. We booked a private trip to a winery with Dubrovnik Coastline Online and Bia our guide took us to a small winery in Konavle and an amazing restaurant. It was a wonderful day. On the other days we used the boats to Dubrovnik and Cevtat which run regularly from the small bay near the hotel.
Fantastic setting.
We first visited the hotel in 1971 when it was built. And was interested to see if the latest refurb still maintained all the natural beauty of the pretty coastline. We are pleased to say it had. The out door pool and its surroundings were most pleasing and scrupliously clean . And the addition of a few bars and resturants in the area were welcome.
Pity about the reception staff!
Twelve of us stayed here last week. Views from rooms were very good, but our room (305) must have been the smallest in the hotel! Even though we had paid for superior rooms. Hotel was ok, food average, but experience somewhat spoilt by the surly reception staff. We found them most unhelpful and extremely difficult to get any information from. Entertainment was disappointing, same thing all week. What is not stated in the brochure is the fact that although there is a bus service every 30 mins, the stop is situated at the top of an extremely steep hill, which would be impossible for those not fit. Otherwise you have to pay the hotel shuttle costs, which are a bit of a rip off. In fact, found everything about this hotel a bit of a rip off, especially drinks!
Very good despite the tempest Friday
Very comfortable and nice location. Had the biggest thunderstorm in living memory so some serious flooding took place but the staff made this have as little impact as possible. Outside pools had to be emptied and cleaned but sea and inside pool great. Typically the food a bit samey after 4 days but always good quality and plenty of it. We just eat out a few times to vary it. Rooms spotless and staff very helpful but direct as is their nature.
Beach, pool & close enough to Dubrovnik +3star
Lovely little resort and hotel was more than fine for a 3 star. Recommend the associated pizza restaurant & fine restaurant for evenings plus the beach restaurant for lunch. Great pool area and pleasant enough (pebbled) beach. Water taxis and hotel shuttle to Dubrovnik and nearby Cavtat - both are must see in my opinion.
Good Hotel close to village amenities and beach
We were on B & B basis and used the local paths to nearby villages. We used the Hotel restaurants in the village and the beach bar, all excellent. We also used the hotel transfer / taxi service and boat trip booking office. The siting of the Hotel is away from the crowds and nearby scenery is stunning. The beach bar had live music on most nights which were excellent and a superb finish to a day in the sun. Altogether a good experience.
Nice views in Mlini
Good hotel that needs attention to details, beautiful view, good buffet, however the rooms had carpet worn out and dirty and the pool staff could be better trained in customer satisfaction. You had to ask twice to get answers.
Lovely Holiday
Lovely setting for all the family and the new sea front swimming pool & childrens' pool looks brilliant. (the builders were just doing their tidying up on 6th July 2013) Opening soon.
Good location, and not bad for the price.
Arriving at the hotel, we were horrified at the condition of the beach, as tractors had been trailing up and down it to reach the building site which was for a new outdoor pool and bungalows. A member of staff apologised and explained that bad weather had delayed the building work. However, we found a very pretty beach 5 minutes walk along to the next village. Every day, we had to walk through a building site to reach the village. The only other negative that we found, was the unbelievably bad breakfast dishes. I have never seen or tasted anything like it, so gave up after day one and stuck to toast, cheese and yogurt. On top of this, the assistants strolled up and down with a trolley, scraping the left overs into a bucket right under our noses ! On a positive note, the hotel was clean and peaceful. Mlini village was quite pleasant with a few old buildings, a stream and a beautiful old tree. We tried 3 of the restaurants, which were all good, but the Lanterna was our favourite. The shuttle minibus was easy to book, pleasant and convenient. The bedroom was fine, but it could have been a travelodge on the M1 if you didn't look out of the window. The beds were very comfortable, with cool cotton sheets, and the bathroom was well designed although tiny. We were not allowed food or drink in our room which I thought was a bit strict ! In the evenings, we enjoyed dancing in the Piano Bar where a musician sang and played guitar to a backing track.
Good location and cleanliness
The hotel is situated midway between Dubrovnik Airport and Dubrovnik Old Town. Expect to pay approx 180kuna (about £19) for a taxi from the airport to the hotel. The hotel itself is spotless (even though it was undergoing some building work during our stay). Reception staff were helpful and attentive. Our room was in the annex, which is not as bad as it sounds - lovely sea view, newly fitted bathroom and a comfortable enough bed. Only negatives might be the reception area lacking much atmosphere, and the food. We were bed and breakfast, but on our night of arrival opted to pay for the evening buffet service at a cost of approx £15 a head and the food was bland and tasteless and definately not worth the money! Breakfast on the other hand was adequate and set us up for the day. The hotel beach is a little sparse, and again, lacks atmosphere. There are only three alternative restaurants close by to the hotel. The indoor pool was nice. An outdoor pool is under construction. The hotel is definately popular with an older clientele, with the average age at least 60! Special mention should go to Joseph who arranges transportation too and from the hotel. He is friendly and helpful. Buses too and from Dubrovnik and nearby Cavtat are relatively easy to negotiate, but the long slope to the bus stop could be tricky for some. Overall, a good stay and excellent base for exploring this part of the country.
Brilliant for some relaxation!
This hotel is definitely targeted towards an older crowd, however the services available and provided are great for all. I read a number of reviews quoting the staff as rude or not very forthcoming. I think this is a misinterpretation and an injustice towards them. They were always helpful and tried to assist wherever possible. I do think their level of English language sometimes made them feel uncomfortable, but they could converse more than adequately. The swimming pool, gym, sauna and other amenities may cost extra (£3 per amenity), but it appeared this only applied in the evening (albeit the attendants were rarely there to accept the payment!). There is a shuttle bus that runs a return trip to Dubrovnik (7 miles away) for £5 pp or alternatively, there is a bus stop 200 yards from the hotel entrance on the main road which has regular buses (number 10) to Dubrovnik for £1.50 (the last bus back from Dubrovnik is at 0130 hours). The hotel itself is very quiet and idyllic for people looking for a relaxing break away from the hustle and bustle of the cities. There is an acoustic guitar player most nights in the bar from 9pm and drinks are relatively cheap. Breakfast was brilliant and there are a number of restaurants nearby to have a good choice of evening meals. All in all, it is a superb place and I would definitely recommend it to family and friends, but not if you're wanting an adrenaline packed holiday. The sunsets from the hotel are spectacular!
Good
Handy for the airport otherwise avoid
Smelly shower curtain, tired decor. Rude overstretched piano bar staff. Staying for just one night so did not have the energy or time to complain at the time. Check in desk staff were helpful and efficient. Location handy for airport, good choice of surrounding restaurants, tried the pizerria food was tasty and service efficient. Not to bad if you can book it cheap and your not staying long otherwise avoid.
