Love it. Pattycakes make me happy!
My lover and I just had the best time of our lives here. We loooovvvwee it sooo much. Kisses 👨❤️💋👨
Very run down and dirty
Clean, good location, good value, a little outdated, elevator out of service, noises from walking upstairs can be heard.
Everything
Roaches need to spray
The elevator had a terrible noise and had to be maintained. Overall not bad but not great either.
Our room wasn’t cleaned while we were there, I didn’t have any soap in my bathroom and the tv remote didn’t work. We asked 3 times for someone to fix the remote, and they promised to do so, but nothing was done.
Hotel room had roaches, stains on the carpet, and appeared to have some sort of water damage.
We have stayed here before, it's conveniently located for the livestock show.
Upon arrival and check in the hotel clerk asked for my debt card and then he charged me $100.00 deposit . I asked why he told me incase you damage your room . I told him that I had paid for insurance . He replied oh well . When I checked out I ask for my $100.00 dollars . The clerk said it would be 3-5 days . It has been 10 days and still no refund yet
Our stay at Mainstay Suites
The fire alarm went off in the middle of night for the first 3 nights we were there. The next 3 nights my hotel phone rang once during the middle of the night. We were on the 2nd floor and I have problems with stairs, which made it uncomfortable when the elevator was out of order for a day or two. The utensils provided for cooking and eating in the room, were 1 spoon, 1 knife, 2 forks, 1 pot and 2 dishes. The doors to the bedroom and the adjoining room would not completely close. The rooms should have been checked better when cleaning, there was a dirty sock on the floor of the closet and we saw a roach walking across the floor.
Appearance very dated, needs a lot of repairs.
The staff was friendly and helpful. The room was clean. What I didn’t like was I reserved a room with a king size bed and got a room with a queen size bed.
Parking lot was monitored, clean, close to hospitals.
Like it
Excellent location to MD Anderson.
Not very friendly extra fee fir early check in huge fee
Staff were rude place was dirty
The price that's all
People was nice
The front desk staff was nice, but the room I stayed was uncomfortable and saw a few roaches. I was thinking that may be because the room was “cheap” and book through Expedia they give you theworst available
This hotel is old. The ac's are full of mold. The rooms are stinky. Only positive is the rooms are large with a couch. The couch was so dirty we had to drape the spare sheets over it.
Safe and Clean
Though the hotel could use some upgrades, renovations seem to be underway. It’s clean, safe, and offers outstanding customer service. We stay here for overnight visits to Houston and plan to return. Hopefully, the improvements continue, as many guests appear to be regulars for business and appointments.
Very outdated
Wonderful Front Desk Service
Wonderful front desk service during the day with professional customer service representatives. On the day of arrival, I was notified promptly that the elevator did not work and I was reminded of this matter at check in.So, I took the stairs and was appalled by the obvious smell of mold/mildew and a carpet that needed to be replaced-not cleaned. The room also had a smell of mildew and the ceiling showed signs of water damage and attempted repair. The walls are thin and you can easily hear conversations and babies crying for prolonged periods in the adjacent rooms. This facility has a shuttle to the Texas Medical Center for patients/family however the lack of cleanliness and the musty odor is concerning. The night time front desk employee was heard screaming into his phone for the whole first floor to hear.
Maintenance needed to Mainstay
Needs LOTS of maintenance done! First elevators didn’t work so we had to take the stairs. Carpet in the stairwell were so stained and nasty…really nasty! Then although our room looked clean, it had a funny smell. The tv came on but we were never able to access any channels. I tried to call down to the front desk but no one ever answered. Then wanted to use the wake up call service… all I got was a busy signal and I tried many different times. So decided to use the alarm clock there. The clock had to be reset but was so scratched up, I couldn’t tell if it was a.m. or p.m. We had an early doctor appointment the next morning at MDAnderson so we just went to bed. At least the bed was comfortable and we got a good nights sleep. I read the reviews before booking our hotel as we were trying to get as close to the hospital as possible. This one had good reviews but I for none, was very disappointed in things.☹️ It’s sad as it appeared to have a lot of home qualities but they sure need to do some serious maintenance to match their hotel name.
TV did not work at all. Filthy, roaches eveywhere. Strange people roaming hallways. Loud noises all night long above and in halls. Elevator was broken, would not give discount or refund. Website offered free breakfast...there was nothing, not even coffee. Overall very bad experience.
Great hotel with great staff
Great hotel for the price. Spacious. Great staff.
Bugs on the floor and in the bathroom, no hot water.
Shower had mold around rim and visible water damage on ceiling. When I told the staff, the didn’t do anything. I have pictures if needed.
The building seemed to be in renovation phase. The halls had sheet rock that wasn’t painted, the carpet had frayed ends, the toilet didn’t flush properly and dripped water. However, on the upside the room was clean and comfortable.
Property is in bad shape. Room had dank odor. Staff were nice
Not good
There was Sheetrock missing from some of the walls and wires exposed in the elevator. The room smelled old. The hotel is in a bad area.
👍👍
Appreciate getting a first floor room without asking.
Good Value
The price was right. The service was good. We would stay there again.
Nice people Clean room Just needs some fixing up and they are working on the property. Served what we needed.
The pictures are misleading. The staff is very friendly and accommodating. The entire facility is falling apart. The walls are dirty, grimy, the windows have all kinds of yucky things on them. Loud noises all night from random motorcycles and cars racing around the area - just bananas
Really nice people running the hotel. It needs work and they are working on it
Great! Very clean and comfortable
The staff are very nice, knowledgeable and efficient. Did not note the outside property. Busy at MD Anderson Cancer Center. I will be back for my next MDACC appointment.
Everything was okay
Cockroaches in kitchen area
Coffee pot didn’t work No hair dryer
Will visit after renovation
Check in was cool, Cornell was very professional!! Go to room and awaiting us was a roach on one of our pillows as well as plenty little roaches. The hotel looks to be renovating so hopefully after the renovation they will have control of the roaches. And the sofa looked like it was found on the side of the road and just put in the room. We did bring the roach found on our pillow to front desk attention and was told we would get new pillowcases, but when we returned the same pillowcases was on the pillows
Satisfying
We have stayed at Main Stay a number of times and we have no complaints
I had a surgery at St Luke’s the following morning, and the shuttle got us there from the hotel no problem. Stayed a night at the hospital and still was able to leave our car at the hotel and get picked up by the shuttle the next day. Really takes stress of driving around the med center area off of your shoulders…PLUS a great money saver on parking.
Solid and as advertised
One of the rooms had sour smell from A/C unit. Steph was quick to move to another room. That was good.
Clean, but under construction/update. Appreciate the make up removal pads, shampoo, etc. ice machine on 4 doesn’t work.
For the price, it was great. Outside looks better than the inside. Looks like they are removing. Big room . Only thing I didn’t like was the pillows.
Thank you to Cordell at the front desk for the good service
After reading the reviews, I was hesitant to stay here but it wasnt as bad as most of the reviews. Yes, the place is dated, could stand a renovation (new carpets, fresh paint, etc) but our room and our hall didnt smell of mildew, we saw 1 bug. They clearly spray regularly. The small kitchenette was handy, there was no oven so we couldnt really prepare anything for meals. They do have a shuttle service to the medical center which was great (runs every hour Monday through Friday) and Gary, the driver, was a wonderful, compassionate gentleman. I would probably stay here again.
We spent one night here as we were only in town for 1 day visiting a friend at MD Anderson. The area felt a bit empty as there is no shopping or restaurants really close. However, the hotel is convenient to the medical district and the staff was fabulous. Cordell was very welcoming and gave lots of suggestions of where we could explore around town. Some of the facilities are are bit run down and in need of repair. However, there were renovations occurring while we were there and so those issues should be addressed with the renovations.
Not what was expected
The staff was nice. My room had roaches and that is unacceptable. The elevator was down and apparently it has been down a while. Also, they advertise free breakfast and that is not the case. The place just looks very rundown.
Mahogany checked us in and she was nothing but amazing!
Hotel overbooked and changed my 6 person room to a 4 person without notice. The elevators were broken and the new room they gave me did not have electricity. They moved me a third time and the room was fine. The hotel refuses to give a partial refund for their overbooking mistake.
No elevator, i was on 4th floor!!! Im 73 yrs old
When I arrived, it took a while for staff to find my reservation even with my confirmation number. I was given a room on fourth floor with broken elevator. When I open the door to the room, there was someone already in there. Someone not happy that I had just opened “their” door. I had to carry all my baggage back down stairs and explain the situation. It took several more minutes and phone calls to get another room. The whole situation was very off putting. The AC was very loud, waking me up each time it turned on.
Loved this hotel, it was a suite and it was great!
Out with a whimper?
I have stayed here a few times over the past several years, because the location is very near my brother's home. Unfortunately, the condition of the hotel has noticeably declined with each visit. This time around, the elevator was out of service, there was debris throughout the hallways, and there was trash in their stairways. The website still advertises free breakfast, but this feature is actually no longer offered. The quality of the service was entirely dependent on whomever happened to be at the front desk at the time. It still served its purpose and had all of the basic amenities that I needed. There is still complimentary coffee in the lobby and other snacks/supplies available for purchase. The rates are still comparatively quite affordable. Unfortunately, after this experience and after seeing the general trajectory over multiple visits, I don't anticipate that I will be staying here again the next time I am in town.
Property had long term tenants. No breakfast available. Pool was not very clean and tiny in comparison to the picture. Bathroom grout had mold in tub. No counter in bathroom
Infested with cockroaches, eye sore of a neighborhood. Internet connection was not reliable.
Was informed on checking in (not before) that there had been a recent flood in the hotel on the 4th floor so elevator was not operable. We were still put on the 4th floor right next to the damage! I asked to be moved, but was told they had no space. Lack of vehicles in the parking lot at all hours of the day/night made me think otherwise. There was a mold/mildew smell and construction debris on the floors that no one bothered to clean up. Hotel felt overall not very well cared for. Area around facility is pretty sketchy.
Place was fine for a long weekend trip, kids love anyplace with a pool. Theres only 1 entry point so google maps has you go all the way around the building to eventually get you enough time to drive into the entrance from around the back. Staff at the front was very nice! Unfortunately their elevator didnt work. Wished the property would have sent a warning message, call or email about that. Luckily we were 2nd floor but still a bit inconvenient to my 60 mother who had a bad leg. Every guest was using the stairs so you would think staff would clean up the stairs, there was so much dust that the smell was gross walking up and down. Complimemtary coffee at the front was amazing, super tasty!
To start with the lows: place was hit by terrible storms a week prior to our stay. As such much of the property smelled moldy and had structural damage. The elevator was out of commission the entire length of our stay and the main door to our room didn’t have a working top latch. The shower practically took pliers to turn the knob. The highs: excellent customer service from the front and supporting staff! Receptionist was very kind and was able to assist us even with half functioning computer systems, the support staff was always friendly and even helped us carry out our luggage from the third floor. The room itself had a VERY GOOD comfortable bed and the little kitchen was great! Overall if the property gets the renovations it needs to be fully functioning, we would come again. However, until that happens, even at a competitive price and location, it wouldn’t be worth staying at.
Under renovations room numbers were literally in the floor on the ground laying there in the walkway old dirty couch in the hallway by the elevator that didn’t work next to a broken wheel chair . The room itself wasn’t so badly the property is dirt and nasty and unkept
Elevator doesn’t work. Construction on 2nd floor.
I would stay again … but
It’s hard for me to put into words on why I give 7/10. Staff was amazing. The hotel room was super clean and had great amount of room.. A queen size bed, full kitchen, living room area with a couch and TV. Great location easy to get in and out of. It felt safe. But seemed sketchy at the same time . The elevator was down. No biggy but the stairs carpet/area smelled so bad .. the halls smelled bad and were dirty also. But again the staff location and room were nice. Just the rest was eh.
Great staff
The elevators were down and we had to find other rooms
The staff was very friendly
Shameful and nasty
The hotel was awful. I am 69 years old and handicapped and no one told me the elevator did not work until I got there. The place looked unkempt and residents that were there had clothing drying off the balcony railing. I told the clerk that I could absolutely not stay there ever and requested my money back. After she said she would refund me I left immediately. It looked just as bad as a poorly run, decrepit apartment complex in a run down part of town.
It a close place to stay as we had an appointment at 8, but walls, doors were dirty where people touch them Room numbers were on the floor instead of the door. No ice on the ice machine. No luggage cart and the shower/ tub handle felt like it was going to fall Would not stay there or recommend it
This hotel had a complete kitchen, almost full size refrigerator, all the necessities for a great visit Plus a free shuttle to MDAnderson and free parking. Not to mention, reasonable rates. Highly recommend
Best bet for Medical Center stays
We’re medical travellers so we look for the best stay for the money close to the medical Center. Believe me when I say we have tried lots of places in the past year. Main Stay wins that lottery hands down. The rooms are comfortable and clean. Bathrooms are accessible for older people. Many rooms have small patios. It’s not the Ritz but we’d be broke by now staying at expensive hotels. For the money this is a great place to stay and they have a van to the Medical Center.
Nice mini-suite. Big fridge, freezer, stove, microwave. Very good for VERY reasonable price. Plenty of amenities within short driving distance.
This hotel is fine for a night or 2, but I wouldn't stay longer than that. The room was pretty dirty but at least the bed was clean. The staff were really nice & accommodating.
The check in was frustrating. Attendant was confusing as he wanted my credit card for check in even though I had already Paid In Full at booking. It took longer than anticipated to check in. The room was nice, fully furnished and clean. However, the bed was extremely hard and uncomfortable. I felt as though I was laying on a flat board.
Good hotel
Every thing you need, comfort could be better, overall a good value stay.
Lower cost option for those going to MD Anderson Cancer Center. Complimentary shuttle service to the center was prompt, easy, and reliable. Kitchenette in room was a big help. Room and bathroom were basic but sufficient. Coffee in lobby was nice especially on early mornings.
Not the greatest
Clean & great amenities!
Reasonably convenient to the NRG Arena where we were competing in a two-day event. Staff was helpful. Room was clean.
Location ok but not easy to get in and out of
Stay here after they remodel
On the positive side the general manager try to help us with all of the issues, but there was only so much he could do. The fan was so loud add about drove us out of our minds and the front desk said they were sending maintenance. After several hours asked again and found out there was no maintenance. The GM overheard and came and fixed it. We had a room with two queen beds and only one blanket and the front desk said there were no more blankets. The shades do not fit the windows so it was like we were in the middle of the parking lot in the middle of the day. We had to hang sheets up to try and sleep. Matresses were terrible and need to be replaced. The ladies at the front could not be more aloof. The pool area is full of weeds and dirty broken concrete. The GM is new and trying which we appreciated but this property is old and needs major help.
We were delayed in getting to our room due to the whole system being down. You should figure out a way to register folks without the computer for just this occasion. Room was refreshed and looked great. The grounds needed some work. A few days weeding etc would make the new paint job look much better.
Did not like area was not pedestrian friendly. The hotel itself was fine
Leaky bathroom ceiling
When I checked in they gave me a room that had a leak in the bathroom ceiling, I asked for a different room and the lady at the desk said they didn't have the same kind of room with 2 beds so I had to take the one with a sofa bed. I probably won't stay there again.
Do not recommend
Floor in room trip hazard, mold around ac, rude clerks at desk, refund and checkout horrific. The shuttle was excellent! Elevator iffy! No cleaning services!
The area was less than desirable. The bathroom had permanent stains as did the kitchenette. Our tv did not work properly and it took until the 2nd for someone to come fix it. The alarm clock made a soft buzzing noise so we had to unplug it..
This reservation was prepaid in full but the front desk clerk called our room late at night insisting it was not paid. Husband spent 30 minutes back at front desk proving with emails and receipts that room was PAID. The next morning the manager confirmed yes it was paid. Horrible experience at this hotel and kept us up late into the night unnecessarily.
This property does not offer daily room servicing and guests must even requests clean towels. Rooms are serviced ONLY WEEKLY. This does not appear anywhere in the advertisements. Neighborhood is also cery seedy. I’d rename it the Main Stay Away.
There wasn’t enough food available for snacks
Pleasant 2-night Stay
My daughter and i stayed for 2 nights while she had a procedure nearby. We got a superior suite, which had a queen bed, kitchenette, sofa, chair and a desk. The room was very clean, the bed super comfy, and it was really quiet for the most part. The kitchenette had a small, full-sized refrigerator with a freezer, a small sink, cooktop, coffeemaker, microwave and a small dishwasher. We were supplied with dishes, drinkware, utinsels, a pot and a pan. The staff were very friendly and accomodating and the atmosphere was relaxed. We felt safe there at all times. The room could use some updates, but everything else made up for it. Recommend.
Very disappointed,
Stay here for convenience and the shuttle service. Shuttle drive left without me even though I was there waiting. Had to switch rooms because we were on the first floor and blinds didn’t fully cover the windows and the TV didn’t work. In the new room the TV worked but you had to hold the remote together or the batteries would fall out. The bath tub would not drain so after the first person showered the water just stayed in tub. Have stayed here in multiple occasions over the past four years when I come for my Cancer check-ups but the quality just seems to be going down. Seriously considering this being my last stay here.
Friendly staff and reasonable prices
Close to med center, affordable. Limited amenities.
Tv not working. Waited on maitinence but after 11/2 hours gave up
