1 night stay. Ideal if you want to just get to the main tourist sites. People were friendly and approachable. Beds were comfortable. We were given duvets and there was a kettle which is handy if you need to make formula for baby. Shower was nice.
Honest review! The room and location are really good but what give us a bad experience was the owners and people that work there. When I First arrived to check in I have been greeted with lack of respect or care in the world, I got told that the room isn’t ready yet and to come back in a hour or 2 after Check in time, 40 Minutes later they managed to give us a room which in all fairness was good and clean. We stayed there for 3 nights they never once cleaned our room or changed towels and once I asked for new towels I got told rudely to wait until the morning and ask again as it was late. Other then the owners and the son bring so Rude and careless and the fact that they don’t bother cleaning the room once you pay for it then it’s a Ok holte
Proximity to touristic sites

I was close to the tourist sites, metro and shopping strips
We lost many things And they stole our iphone x from our room
Close to all interesting sites
The hotel is within walking distance of many of the activities and the staff were very helpful and kind. They helped us get a shuttle to the airport and made sure we get there on time. The place is cozy and the beds are comfortable. There are no elevator for those who have hard time with stairs.
Quite near to historical place and surrounded by food and sundry shops
My fiancee and I were excited about this property as it was in a good location and affordable; however, it ended up being a nightmare experience, and we were treated - without a doubt - worse than we have ever been treated by any hotel. 1. Our room was not ready by our 2pm check-in time and we had to wait until 3:30. 2. The first room we were taken to was in the basement where toilet paper and cleaning supplies were kept. There were 2 single beds, a large pipe that ran low across the ceiling, and a small window that looked onto the sidewalk above. We told the hotel manager this was not the room we booked. 3. He was remarkably unapologetic. Only after we showed him pictures of the room we booked via Expedia did he reluctantly agree to take us to another room. The second room was not much better than the first. It was barely big enough for a double bed to fit, there was no hot water, and the sheets were dirty. We again told him this was not the room that we booked 4. He took us to the third room, while complaining that he was doing us a favor and saying that this was our last chance. The third room was, in fact, the room we booked; however, when I went to check if there was hot water in the bathroom, the hotel manager started yelling at me telling me there was hot water. I told him I simply wanted to make sure. He yelled louder, got closer to me, and shouted at me to feel the hot water. 5. We didn't feel safe in this hotel, in a foreign country, so we stayed at another hotel
Nice staff, convenient location. Room is clean, bathroom is nice. No blanket:(
Excellent experience
My stay was very satisfactiry. The service was very good. The recepcionust was very helpfull. The ubication was excelent. Just 10 min walking from sultanhamed. Walking distance of a lot of places. The room was nice and the bathroom also. The neighberhood was ok day and night. Really vert good option.
Nice Budget
The front desk staff are very helpful. When we arrived at the hotel, we did not have the appropriate change to pay; the receptionist came to us, helped us to get the change from the nearby store and pay the cab person. He also gave us the necessary information to visit in Istanbul and also a few donts/tips to avoid being cheated. The machine to put the key in the room was broken, so we had to be very careful while placing the key for electric supply in the room. The TV channels provided have no english channels, so spending time watching TV is a no-go for all english speaking travellers.
During our stay, no electricity and no internet
We stayed for 3 nights and we made an extension of 2 more nights in this hotel, because the staff is good, the breakfast is also good and the wifi connection is reliable. At least, wifi was good until the 3rd day. During the afternoon, the power got off and so the wifi. In the block, only we stayed with no power and wifi. Most incredibly: some parts of the building had power; besides: in some bedrooms, we had electricity in the room and didn’t in the bathroom. But I think this was because of the building age and mostly in Europe. The building is old, but the staff is really good. They tried to help us always offering us anything we asked to. Maybe more proactive, but It’s worth the money you pay. Good location, but you have to go up to see the Blue Mosque and other touristic places in Istanbul.
Good value, great service.
Very nice experience, the place is close to Sultanahmet mosque, and is a good place to stay for visiting Istanbul. The receptionist Umar was very helpful throughout, and also arranged a Ground floor room for us since my wife was pregnant. The breakfast is standard, which they can improve with some fresh fruits and fresh juices. They also extended our checkout time on request and guided us to go around places in Istanbul during our stay. We would be happy to stay there again when we visit the city.
Nightmares In Istanbul
This hotel was in a brilliant location, but the standard was awful. As we walked into the room, it looked alright, however after closer inspection it was absolutely awful. I lifted my pillow to find a line of dust, as if the room hadn't been entered or cleaned for weeks. There were stains on the sheets, mold in the bathroom, the drains were filthy, general cleanliness was very poor. The bed was not a double, just two singles pushed together, very uncomfortable and there is dust everywhere. The hotel does not have a lift and you have to walk up very narrow steep stairs to get to your room. Breakfast is not worth even calling breakfast, a sad plate of food, pre-prepared, cold boiled egg, a few straggly pieces of cheese and stale bread. They served coca cola and fanta with breakfast. Definitely need to have breakfast elsewhere. The windows are not in the least bit sound proof, which is a must in this busy neighborhood, the road is very loud and we could hear people all through the night, we were not able to sleep for our whole stay. Although the hotel has some good points, the staff are lovely and the hotel has a roof terrace from which there is an amazing view. I would definitely not stay here again.m
NOT AS ADVERTISED
The main reason my overall rating for this hotel is 1/5 is simply because it is not as advertised. We were in the basement room which was not soundproof, it was quite noisy and a lot of light still got in. There was no daily housekeeping which again it said there would be, breakfast hours were very short, and the beds were very uncomfortable. They weren't even actual mattresses but maybe sofa beds? Also one of the male reception workers was very quiet and didn't really speak to me or my boyfriend which made checking in a hassle. If it was advertised more accurately that would solve a lot of issues. The only real plus is that it is walking distance to everything we wanted to see!
Much better hotels cheaper in the area
Room was clean. Bathroom tiny not big enough for 2 people to be staying in. Staff struggled with providing local information.
Overall good but not for breakfast
A short walk to the major old city sites. Front desk staff were very friendly and overall the hotel is reasonably priced. The breakfast was only fair to poor, as was the service in the breakfast area.
Perfect for the location.
Tiny room, but great service!
Nice hotel close to many touristic places
Hotel is in fantastic location and is a really charming and lovely place to stay with loads of character and access to to ancient parts of Istanbul. The front of desk staff and breakfast restaurant staff are welcoming, helpful and professional.
Making the best of a low-end facility
Rooms are small. Hotel staff very helpful. Room had kettle, cups - but no drink ingredients; not even water.
Great hotel in the old city of Istanbul
The hotel and the staffs were great! I would highly recommend for people to stay at this location. PROs: - close to many landmarks in the district of Sultanahmet (walkable distance) - cost is reasonable - everything was as promised - the staffs were wonderful, helpful, and very caring (it was heartwarming) - A+++ overall
Comfortable stay
A friend and I spent several days at the Magnificent Hotel, and we had a very nice stay. The location is great - it is very close to Sultanahmet Mosque, but it is on a quieter side street. That being said, it is close to a large number of shops and restaurants, so it is still very conveniently located. The staff is friendly and helpful, and the hotel was very clean, warm (which was awesome with how freezing and snowy Istanbul was when we went), and comfortable.
Avoid this place unless you have no other choice
To start with, this place (Magnificent hotel, Istanbul) is far, far behind a 4 star hotel standard one would normally expect. I found this out when I arrived and when I asked if I could checkout the next morning, they told me that I could checkout anytime I wanted, as long as I pay for the whole period of my reservation (i.e. 3 nights instead of 1 night). This is really a surprise as I was trying to honor the reservation by promising to stay for the first night. Then, the price at the door when I arrived was €60/night for one double bedroom. According to Expedia website on that date, the "standard room" was £58 which is HIGHER than the at door price. Oh BTW, at the door, you don't have a choice for an "economic room". There is only "double bedroom". Thirdly, Expedia was limiting me from the freedom of changing my room: as I booked an "economic room" from Expedia for €60 tonight, I can NOT change my room. The room i was offered has a fire exit inside so you could imagine the room quality. So i had no choice but to upgrade my room to a triple room (for another €30 for the whole period) as there's no other room available to me but if i check the online availability, there's one for every type of rooms Fourthly, the central heating is not working but luckily we have an aircon which doesn't seem to blow hot air (although we set the temperature at 30℃, sorry Mother Earth). Fifthly, on the second day, the room was not cleaned at all when we came back in the evening! AVOID IT!
How you can give this Hotel for 4 stars?
Your Company not correct.Who gave this Hotel 4 Stars? Are u kidding me? There is no lift. Four floors and they send me on the top floors with my lougages???
Details on Magnificent Hotel, Istanbul
There were some important problems. The writing space is too limited at 1500 characters. Cutting out important details will lose value for the feedback. If I cannot include them then please do not post this description of the stay.
In South African standards it would be a 2 star hotel. Small rooms, more like a hostel tha a hotel. Area is perfect though.
Very well located, very affordable and very friend
Spent a marvellous week in the center of the world 5-10 minutes walking from 10 world wonders. As soon as the staff knew that my parents were celabrating their 50th anniversary, a nice delicious cake was put as a surprize in our room,
Hotel in Istanbul
Waking distance most attractions and restaurants. Metro access to. Airport.
Not a four star by any chance
We stayed for just one night, this is not a four star hotel. We were given a basement room near the laundry area that wasn't even closed so we could smell the detergents etc. When we asked to change the room the guy said its not possible. During the night there was so much noise and smell due to some sewerage work being carried out just outside the hotel. There is no lift in hotel and breakfast is served at top floor so bear in mind before booking this hotel if you can't climb stairs. The breakfast was terrible we couldn't eat properly because there was nothing to eat. There was a small fridge in the room but no minibar. There was no water or anything in the room. Toilet was too small and towels were laid down on the bed due to no place in toilet to place them. The only plus point I can think of is the location. It is at walking distance to all major tourist places. If you are looking for good stay then avoid this hotel.
Very Good Mid Range Hotel
We stayed at the Magnificent Hotel in Istanbul for 3 nights in April 2014. We were more than happy with it. The room was clean and fresh. The hotel staff were very friendly and helpful. Buffet breakfast every morning was very good. Location was very good, 7-8 mins walk from Blue Mosque, Hagia Sophia and Hippodrome. Price was very reasonable. We'd surely recommend this hotel to all mid range travellers.
There was no room available, I went to other hotel
I spent 45 dollars for a taxi to go to this hotel from airport and they told there is no room available for you because the room has been cancelled by Epedia.ca !!?? That wasn't good at all since I should spend more money and time to get another hotel.
great location
Excellent location for all sights, friendly service and very helpful front desk. Rooms were a little bit small but wouldn't have bothered me that much had thr room been cleaned daily as standard practice.
Very nice hotel and fantastic front desk staff!
We checked in very late at night and the Front Desk was very helpful! Gave us all the information that we needed about the hotel, surrounding area, transportation, map and we had a great vacation in Istanbul after their assistance! Rooms are average size and very clean. I recommend!
Great hotel, hard to find
The staff was very friendly, everyone spoke English which was a big help and the food in the area was good and cheaper compared to others but the hotel was a little hard to find. It is not far from the main square but it is in an area where the streets twist and turn making it hard to locate even if you have a map.
Good location
Good location, nice neighborhood, staff is pretty helpful. Just make sure that if you plan on changing the amount of time you stay there to do it before 6 days otherwise you will get charged!
Great location
Basic hotel in a very good location 5 minutes walk from all the main attractions in Sultanahmet
OK if you are on a tight budget
Overall this hotel is OK. The price was really cheap (64 Euro), and it is very near the Blue Mosque. The immediate surrounding neighborhood was not special, and not as lively as a bit East where there are a bunch of hotels right near the Hagia Sofia. So, if you have more to spend and want a bit more comfort, this is not the place. But if you just need a place to crash for a night or two, this would be a good option. No elevator.
A bit hostel-like
This hotel had a convenient location, although the neighborhood is a bit "beat up": abandoned and collapsing house right across the street from hotel. Staff was a bit "indifferent"---not angry but also not involved or caring. The breakfast was not that good---we went "off sight" for breakfast the second day. We stayed for two days, and the room was never cleaned.
good for couples
I had a room on the ground floor which was not a great location because it was close to the lobby area and next to the lobby WC. However, for the price I paid and the location it was great. Within a gentle 10 minute walk you can reach the Blue Mosque and Hagia Sophia. Not so great if you can't climb to many stairs because breakfast is on the 5th floor. It is a small informal place and staff are friendly and helpful.
Very good service
Good value for money - staffs are helpful and friendly.
Discusting
We left immediatly for a hotel that was a true 4 star, and removed our bags moments later. This hotel is an embarasment to HOTEL com, the pictures are missleading, the rooms are smokey, the burned out wreck of the building across the street is awfull.
Great Little Place!
We arrived pretty early. We couldn't check-in yet which is understandable but they did hold our bags so we could explore a bit before check-in time. The basement room we stayed in, although tiny was neat and modern. The bathroom had new and modern finishes. However, I think in order to create a bit more space the arrangement of the bed needs some thought or perhaps to get a smaller bed in the tiny space. The basement room can also be a bit annoying if you're a light sleeper as you can hear voices and footsteps nearly all through the night and people also have a habit of sitting on the window ledge just outside your window to smoke and chat, sometimes quite loudly. We had 3 different receptionists during our stay, two spoke a fair bit of English but one not so well. Omar was particularly helpful and informative when it came to info about the city and giving suggestions. Our room was not cleaned daily but rather it was cleaned on request so you had to leave your key at reception if you wanted your room cleaned. Our coffee/tea was not replaced either. It seems as if there's one lady who does the room cleaning and arranges the breakfast so she might be a bit busy when the hotel is fully booked. We did enjoy the breakfast. It was fresh and a good range of items and it was included in the price of our stay which was great. Overall, we had a pleasant stay at the Magnificent Hotel, would recommend it and would love to return to it and to the wonderful city of Istanbul again one day.
worth the money
it was fantastic, staff are allright and the break fast was fantastic, many thanks to lady that making nice break fast everyday and very clean and healthy
BAD NAME FOR GREECE
THE ROOM 113 WAS CONVERTED FROM A TOILET WITH A WINDOW FACING DRAINAGE IN THE BACK OF THE BUILDING. THE ROOM WAS NEXT TO THE RECEPTION, EVERY TIME SOMEONE WALK IN AND OUT OF THE HOTEL, TALK WITH THE RECEPTIONIST, THE ROOM CAN HEAR. THERE IS NOT ENOUGH BLANKET FOR THE NIGHT AND THE THE BASIN WAS TOO SMALL FOR ANY USE. WHEN I ASKED TO CHANGE ROOM AFTER ONE HORRIBLE NIGHT, THE OWNER REFUSED AND WE ENDED UP IN A SHOUTING MATCH AND IN THE POLICE STATION. HE SPOKE GREEK AND KNOWS THE POLICE AND THE RESULT WAS PREDICTABLE.
Hotel Magnificent, Istanbul
Fantastic stay at this hotel. Wonderful room, nice breakfast, good location for the old town (if you don't mind the odd hill). Reception staff were so helpful, which really made a difference. Would highly recommend. Price doesn't match service, as it was so good. Complete bargain!
very good as a basic hotel for budget travelers
i have just came back from my staying in Magnificent hotel ( sep 2011) , it was my and my wife , and a 1 year kid. i will try to categorize my review , so that it can be helpful to anyone : Location : the hotel is located in sultanahmet , one of the historical and touristic places in Istanbul , the area is active all the days , and has a lot of mini supermarkets , restaurants, bars and cafes. the hotel itself , is 10-15 mins walk from the sultanahmet tram station ( the starting point of everyday activity ) , but one problem is , that the hotel is located on a steep area , so that it is very hard to go up to the train station daily if u r carrying ur baby , or pushing a stroller , or having your language with you , or having an old people with u , so take care if you are usually move with these stuff Rooms : i got an economic room , with a baby cot , the baby cot was very nice , but the room was super small , we could hardly move in the room with our bags inside , the bathroom is not comfortable at all , since the toilet is located edge to edge to the shower area , so you can hardly use the toilet. the Wifi works perfect all the time , with a very good speed , the room service and cleanness was very good , they changing the sheets and cleaning the room everyday. Breakfast : very basic , yet very good , you just get board after the 3rd day :) because it never changes , people who is serving the breakfast can hardly understand English , so you have to struggle to ask for anything , but this is not a big deal Hotel facilities : there is no elevator , and the stairs are very scary , specially the one when u r going up and down to the breakfast area , so , if you are having old people with you , you can ask for in room breakfast. Staff : was very friendly and willing to help , we had a daily 5 mins chat in the morning everyday , to set our directions , Thanks Omar and Volcane , you were a great help to us. after we checked out , our flight with very late at night , they kept our language with them , we even came back after we checked out to change for the baby , and they opened a room for us to change for him . Volcane helped us to get a taxi when we are leaving with our languages , carried them with us . super super helpful bottom line , if you are a couple , not looking for a fancy hotel , but looking for a very good and clean hotel with a reasonably budget , go directly to this hotel . if you are a family , with kids , or old people , and you are always looking for fancy hotels , with activities and so on , dont expect this from magnificent , you will suffer from some aspects( listed above ) , and it will be personal differences to bear or not to bear them.
Fantastic
The employees, everyone from receptionist to housekeeping, were very friendly and nice. We felt very welcome from start to end. Warm, welcoming and very service minded staff who were always ready to help no matter what you needed. The hotel location is fantastic. Restaurants, bars, all kinds of shops right nearby. We had a great time. Can highly recommend.
The hotel does not look like on the picture. There is no lobby anymore since there are 3 ATMs stuffed into the entrance and everything looks much older. Still, what you get for the money is okay. The room was clean, but a bit small and pretty loud (we were in the cellar). Wifi is fast and reliable. The bathroom looked pretty new. Our room was not cleaned once in 5 days, but I think they would clean it if we would ask them.
Good location, very basic hotel.
The price already indicated that this is a basic hotel. We had no expectations. We came in after midnight and had a appointment at 10 so we just needed to sleep and a quick shower so it was ok. The location is very good and there is a kiosk and some cafes right a cross the road. The bathroom itself and the sink in particular is really small.
Guys in the reseption was very polite and helpful. The hotel's location was pretty good (10 min from the main square). The room cleanliness was not very good. Breakfast did not meet in the room rate. The breakfast area was decorated terrace with nice view. The ground floor rooms should not be rented. Not suitable.
The property have 4 floors . With out stairs !! They put me at the floor 4 .. u transfer my bages 4 floors with out elevator !
