Decent enough hotel.

Decent enough hotel just a short drive from the Messe, where I was working for a week, and the centre of Cologne. There is a train station nearby too, though didn't seem to be any restaurants in walking distance which wasn't ideal after a long day/week working at the show when the hotel restaurant doesn't open on a Sunday.

Lovwly hotel suited our needs

My only problem with the Room was that the bathroom, instead of having tiling like anyone would expect, used the same floor paneling as the rest of the room, and was on level with the rest of the room, so any spill from showering (which happened a LOT with the weird bathtub/shower combo that had a flimsy shield on it to try to prevent spill, but that was leaking) could just flow under the door right into the rest of the room. The door of the bathroom also apparently had water damage at some point, since the inner surface finish of it was peeling off at the bottom. Maybe instead of investing in fancy tablet PCs to be in the room for information and contacting staff, they should have invested in renovating the bathrooms. Other than that, the staff was friendly, breakfast was good, and public transport was at most 5 walking minutes away.

It is very near to the Tram. Very convenient when attending ANUGA.

Nice hotel and friendly staff

I stayed here during Gamescom week, and as the tram station was less than a 5-minute walk away, I had a straightforward journey to and from the expo. The hotel was clean, the staff friendly, and the breakfast was great. I'd definitely recommend, and would stay there again.

Nice location close to the arena. Most of room facilities were nice except for the air conditioning. Good wifi connection. Very nice breakfast place. Staff were nice and welcoming.

Great little place, with on site parking (extra) but was waived because they had construction on site.

The room was good and the view from the 6th floor would have been magnificent if not for the fog. My wife and I ae in our mid 60's Iwas a little surprized when they put us in a room on a floor that did not have elevator access. Our room was next to the elevator equipment, and there was something wrong with the elevator. Every time it started or stopped there was a loud groan from the machinery. Fortunately, people stopped using the elevator around midnight and we were able to sleep after that.

Potential not met. Unfortunately.

The hotel has all what it takes but seems to have forgotten what its main purpose is : a good night sleep. The pillows are below all critics... Not even the pillow covers seem to fit. One oversized spunge pillow and one mini variant of it. Beds are soft and move apart for every little move around you take in your sleep at night.... It's really a pity because all the rest is really up to expectations, staff is professional and cleaning is perfect. Invest in bedding!

nice hotel

Very nice hotel, beautiful view. Great breakfast. Very comfy bed. Easy to drive downtown with car. Downside no air condition and window could only open very little but we could get a fan which helped.

Pretty poor service to be honest and I found the staff at the front counter to be quite rude and hostile towards me after I complained about wifi access in my room. I wouldn't recommend this hotel.

Comfortable good quality hotel, uninspiring place

A large spacious ground floor gives a good first impression and the reception process was efficient and friendly. Our rooms were spacious and well appointed. Provision of a charge free bottle of water is a welcome facility. The basement has a good size swimming pool , a small but adequately equipped gym, and a sauna . There is a table football machine ( but the lack of a ball renders it redundant ). Although there were several business functions being held at the hotel it was very quiet. The bar and restaurant were barely used and lacked any atmosphere. The buffet breakfast was very good with a wide selection of cold victuals and scrambled eggs , boiled eggs , sausages , bacon etc as hot foods. There is a large one level car park to service the hotel. The hotel is situated in a outer city residential area without any uplifting views and no tourist amenities. The journey time by taxi to the city centre is short. Buses and a tram line are nearby though I cannot express any opinion on them as not used by our party.

Lovely hotel!

I booked this at the last minute because my other hotel reservation was cancelled. And was pleasantly surprised.

Breakfast is pricey but there are many small and affordable restaurant and cafe close by. A super market is right next to th hotel.

I checked in at 8.30pm on Thursday 23 of February. The lady that checked me in was very helpful and is a credit to your company and hotel. I cant remember her name but she had sandy coloured hair..there were 2 women 1 with glasses 1 wasnt wearing glasses. The 1 checked me in wasnt wearing glasses..

Not a safe hotel

The hotel is located in a not a very safe area, we were having breakfast in the hotel restaurant and the thief came in and took my friend's backpack away on his seat. Never met this kind of thing in my life in a hotel. Hotel only gave cold reply and is very reluctant to help. Dont stay in this hotel.

Stayed there before and the hotel is always good , cheaper than staying in the centre of koln for a 4 star hotel and with good transport links The tram into koln is 5 minutes away and the train station is a little bit further

A good location close to the city centre

There for an exhibition and the hotel was close to the Messe. Unlike most hotels in Germany it has tea and coffee in the room. Also had BBC and ITV programmes on the TV.

Prive Value Hotel

The hotel is clean.. nice room for the price.. Friendly..I like the stay here it was good for me.. about 5 Min taxi ride to the Central Station.. Koln is good for site seeing..

It was good for the purpose

Clean hotel in isolated location

After requesting a non smoking room I was checked into a smoking room which was really in a horrible state. Thankfully I was able to move to a non smoking room which was a lot nicer. Room service was not available during my stay and due to the lack of anything in the area I was forced go to the supermarket next door for dinner. Breakfast was fine but quite limited. All staff I encountered were friendly.

Lovely hotel

Close to tram, bus and train. Good sized clean and comfortable rooms. Staff lovely and helpfull. Only negative was pool a bit too chilly for me but i am a warm pool person.

I enjoyed my stay

Very good value for the price.

First room offered was larger but had two single beds pushed together, opted for a smaller room but larger bed. free Wifi option gives slower service, so if you wanted to stream TV or films you might be out of luck. I didn't have any issues. You can pay for a faster service. Bath tubs really need a shower curtain. Tub had a piece of glass, on a hinge that didn't prevent water from running all over the bathroom floor (there was a drain). TV offered a lot of satellite channels,Not just local stations, including those from the UK. Hotel is one long block from the tram line (3) and a transfer from the S Bahn is need if coming from the airport. Room was very clean. Given the option I would definitely stay there again.

Great choice and excellent value!

Really great hotel, a little off the beaten track but worth the trek. S-Bahn stop is about a 10 minute walk away, and from there it's only 2 stops to Cologne Central Station. The room was terrific -- very clean and bigger than what you normally find in a standard European hotel, with a double bed (two singles together) and even an actual bathtub. WiFi is free of charge with a solid signal. Check in and check out were fast and easy and there's 24 hour front desk access.

Nice Hotel, very helpful and polite staff and a good breakfast buffet. I didn't noticed the 10 euros a day parking charge when I booked, which was mildly irritating..... although checking the info now I spotted it immediately..... Apart from that it was good value and a good place to stop over on our journey across Germany.

Valentines stay

Bed wasn't a double as ask for it was two single beds pushed together (disappointing ) The room over all was great but not hoovered ! The young bar man a great addition to the hotel lovely fella .

NOT a business hotel!

arrived to find the room's safety box open but the lock bars extended, desk light not working as dust covered bulb hanging out, bits hanging off the radiator. Phoned reception and put the phone down on me. Workmen drilling one evening in the next room at 10.45pm - phoned reception and was told 'yes they will only be 5 or 10 minutes' Water and coffee not replenished daily, used cups left on the tray from previous day without being washed. Grubby hotel with grey bathroom suite with shower head clogged with limescale, grey wardrobes and furniture, stained carpets and staff who didn't seem to care Never stay there again.

Very basic hotel

The pictures looked nice and it had good reviews but the hotel is very dated. My room had a faulty drain in the shower (tray filled up) the shower rail was broken, the door handle kept falling off, the tv only picked up 5 watchable channels (out of 30 available), the walls were made of paper (i'm a very heavy sleeper and the noise even woke me), the bathroom light switch kept falling off and you could not open the cupboard without turning all the lights off. In fairness I did not report anything as arriving at 10pm every night and leaving at 7am I just wanted to sleep!

Very nice hotel

Very good hotel. Calm district, near the tram stop. Great rooms, good leisure center with a swimming pool. Fitness center, though not too big, but it has a minimum daily workout equipment. Breakfast is an additional cost and the building next door is a supermarket and even a little further - the market, so that a very broad choice of where to procure yourself breakfast. Keep in mind that the Internet is an extra cost, unless you have not Leonardo hotel a regular customer.

Nice but basic hotel

Hotel and room were nice but certain things thats id expect free in all decent hotels weren't, wifi being the prime example. It was 4 Euros per hour for wifi access and to use the PC and printer in the lobby you had to buy a internet access card. The warm bottle of water in our room had a price tag of 3.60 Euros, which I thought was a bit cheeky and they also didn't supply any milk with the tea and coffee supplies, which seemed strange. The hotel staff were friendly and helpful and the room itself was spacious and very clean. Our double bed that I had requested was in fact two singles pushed together which wasn't ideal. The hotel is in a good location within a five minute walk from the tram which takes 10mins to get into the city centre. It cost us 30 Euros to get from Cologne Bonn airport to the hotel by taxi.

4 nighrs with car to visit Christmas Markets

We chose the Leonardo for its location and the fact it had secure parking. The room was spacious and clean located on 5th floor. We did book superior to get extra space. Not much of a view but thats not what we wanted anyway. Beds were comfortable. Kettle in room with complimentary tea and coffee. The TV had lots of English channels BBC ITV Film4 etc. We went swimming once but pool was too cold. Plenty of fresh towels. A bit dated and as it was in the cellar no natural light. Two pc terminals in reception which were free to use. Nice bar. Breakfast was really good. Lots of shops nearby. Supermarket right next door. Tram at the end of the road. Rover ticket cost 9 €\day Definitely will use them again and good value for money.

Customer service

This Hotel has basically short stays as customers ...ie exhibition visitors who stay maybe 2-3 nights at the most. they also have large tour groups who also only stay 2-3 nights. So customer service is not something they strive for.

Ok, but would stay more centrally next time

We stayed here whilst visiting the Christmas markets in December. Room was ok, but a bit spartan. It was a bit cold and only had a [loud] air-conditioning system for heating. The bed was two single beds put together, and could have done with more blankets. Breakfast was ok, with a decent range of options. We arrived late on the first night, and there was absolutely no options for getting anything to eat (not even bar snacks). Location meant it was quite a way to get to the central station on public transport (we would stay at a more central location in the future)

Very nice hotel but extra charges are annoying

This hotel is well located, modern and comfortable, clean and well maintained, with friendly staff. The extra charges for parking, and internet (of poor quality) were annoying, and the only disappointment for an otherwise great visit.

One night in Cologne!

The stay was fine as a place to stay for a night – not much in the area, so don't expect to walk to a good restaurant... The Hotel cafe looked a bit dull, so I chose to skip dinner – the trip into the city is quite long.

Easy access to S-Bahn

I chose this hotel because of its easy access from the autobahn (with parking) as well as being close to the S-bahn to explore Koln. Outside of having to pay for parking and internet, the stay was great.

Good hotel close to town centre

Really nice hotel with helpful staff. Food was really nice and would definitely recommend getting the breakfast option. Train just 2 mins up the road just to town centre too. Would definitely use again

Solid hotel experience

The staff was friendly and helpful, the breakfast there was delicious, and it was minutes away from Koelnmesse and the cathedral. It was really quiet, the rooms were nice, and there were free, fresh apples at the reception desk (hey, it's the little things).

Great hotel - does it's job well

Great experience all round in this hotel - did a superb job of providing us (couple) with good accommodation whilst staying in Cologne. The room was very comfortable and clean, staff were helpful and friendly and the food at breakfast was very good. The hotel lobby and interior were nice too. The indoor pool and sauna are a fantastic addition. Regarding the location - although the hotel is slightly out of the city centre, there is a tram station around 5 minutes walk away and an overground train station around 8 minutes walk away, so getting into the centre is very easy considering the efficiency of German transport! The location also meant that the area was fairly calm too, and couldn't hear any noise whilst in the room. No criticisms at all really - the view from the window was not the most picturesque landscape in the world (a motorway and buildings etc.) but that is to be expected in a city. All in all a great hotel to provide nice accommodation with a few extras.

Smart however not best location

Nearby main road and intersection is noisy and very close. If tourist try and stay closer to town however metro link is excellent and very reasonable priced. (This is all Cologne not just this area). Hotel Bar prices a little expensive for location although service excellent and helpful. Breakfast worth adding great value and good choice. We visited a nearby event so hotel location was enhanced and met our needs well.

I won't stay here again

Arrived to find a couple complaining that they have a room to close to the lift so couldn't sleep. I thought I booked a double bed, it wasn't clear and ended up with a single bed, another person also had this problem. The lifts were very loud, I was no where near them but could hear them going up and down all night. No room safe, hotel wireless for basic is about 10 euro per night for a slow service. I couldn't run the bath without the shower coming on at the same time. Hotel is clean and the staff a friendly, but I won't stay here again.

useful info

very disappointed in location to christmas markets-hotel more geared up to buissness men. A very useful local supermarket near by with bakery which proved incredibly handy. Hotel staff failed to give us exact directions to christmas markets via their tram lines. if it hadn't been for a local member of public we would not have known to change trrams to visit cathederal from hotel. Having said all this -the tram service was superb and very quicky got familiar to using them. For anyone going from the hotel via tram-take tram S3 outside post office to Neumart & change to 16 or s18 to Dom for the cathederal & christmas markets. (Neumart has its own small christmas market & is worth a visit)

Hotel or Motel ?

My partner and I wanted to escape the London life and decided that this hotel, with such great reviews as well as pictures, would be perfect. Pictures can be deceiving. The hotel staff were pleasant enough however I had booked a double bed smoking room and received a twin bed non-smoking room. When confronting the staff with this issue they stated that we could "move the beds together" and were satisfied that they had sorted the issue out. One member of staff also mentioned that there were no king size beds available. For something that I had made sure to book this was very disappointing. I upgraded the room thinking that this might provide a little something extra and the only thing it provided was wasted space. The carpets had stains on them and the layout of the bathroom was appalling. I did like the fact that the bathroom had a bath with a shower attachment however the glass partition, to ensure the shower did not spray, was poorly positioned allowing it to open so far as to touch the sink (which was about 2 inches apart). There was an empty mini bar stating that we had to contact reception to order anything and no menu was provided incase we wised to order anything. There was no safe within the room and a small slip of paper, where a safe should have been, stated that any valuables can be left at reception HOWEVER they will not be liable if anything goes missing. As far as my partner and I was concerned we were not going to take that risk. Overall would not recommend.

lovely place...great location for price

this was a lovely hotel in cologne. only 2 stops away from central cologne. very accessable and awesome for the price paid. breakfast was awesome. all that could be requested at the price. sauna clean and pool lovely albeit a bit cool. clean bathroom and room. tv and seating area add. overall would recommened to all.

Good price

This hotel is right off the highway. $* euros for parking and no free internet in the rooms, but there is a computer in the lobby that is free. There is also a 24 hour convenient store next door. It's about a 10 min walk to a main road to take the bus into town. The room was spacious and clean. Good deal for the price.

We were very satisfied with our stay. The hotel is very close to the city centre and has a supermarket and a bakery next door. The staff was also very friendly and helpful. The rooms are nice and have everything you need. The only thing we didn’t like was the loud elevator that you could hear in your room.

Het was niet erg schoon in de kamer, schimmel in badkamer, niet werkende airco, bedden niet opgemaakt, handdoeken niet vervangen, geen wc papier. Personeel was erg vriendelijk en behulpzaam!! Maar verder was t heel veel geld wat we betaalden en slechte kwaliteit van de kamers

Die Umgebung ist nicht sehr schön, aber dafür gibt es einen großen Parkplatz und gute Verkehrsanbindung. Nebenan ist ein Supermarkt. Im Zimmer war es trotz der Bundesstraße sehr leise. Leider war das Bad sehr schmutzig. Viele lange Haare und Schmutz in der Wanne.
