The check will n could have been more pleasant. It was rules on rules with lots of info to process and restrictions. Not very personal. The room read ocean view and was not. It was blocked with a view of the garden and the restaurant.

Amazing place for family vacation

Staff were wonderful and very attentive. Location is amazing; walkable to restaurants, grocery store, and beaches: complementary breakfast every morning was top notch. Will definitely stay here again next time

The location at Orient Bay is perfect. Just a few steps from a beautiful beach and comfortable lounge chairs. The restaurant for lunch is delicious and very convenient to have the food brought to you at the beach. Proximity to the plaza with about 10 different restaurants, most of them delicious. Some areas of improvement/caution: - Breakfast, which was included was the same every day. A little variety would be good. - They give you a card per person that you exchange for a beach towel every day and get back when you return the towel; you get a bracelet to identify you as a guest for breakfast or beach chairs; and then you have your key card. Lose any of these and they charge you. Most resorts I have been to don’t do this. A bit too much to worry about for someone trying to relax on vacation. - No dinner served at the hotel restaurant.

We had a superb week at La Playa! All came as advertised. The room was modern, comfortable and quiet. The beach is gorgeous - pristine sand with easy access to the warm, turquoise water. It certainly can be windy at times but you can always find respite in the pool area if you’d like, and if water sports are your thing you’ll be in heaven. The staff were all very friendly and a great source of advice about anything you may want to do outside the resort. Particular shout out to Elena, whom we happened to interact with most at the front desk. There are plenty of excellent restaurants in the village, along with a small grocery store. Combined with the resort’s breakfast, we had no shortage of food options. One thing to be aware of is that there are no ATM’s within walking distance, so it’s best to get some cash at the airport for tips or small purchases. Not a problem if you rent a car but taxis can get expensive in a hurry. Already thinking of our next trip to the island!

Very relaxing stay.

I had an excellent experience here. It is right on the beach but is walking distance to several highly rated restaurants. The hotel is very quiet and well-maintained. The staff was very helpful and friendly. A cab ride to Grand Case is $20. I also appreciated that my room had a mini kitchen with a small refrigerator. My only complaint t is that the coffee machine at breakfast is very fickle and I needed help to operate it.

Hotel and hotel staff were excellent. Bar and food were great. Beach umbrella/chair boys were the weak spot during our stay. Again and hotel restaurant and bar made up for it. This was our second visit to La Playa.

We only stayed here for a night because we had an extra day in St. Martin after visiting Anguilla. The staff was excellent, letting us check in early and setting up late check-out without us asking after they asked the time of our flight the following day. It's a great-looking facility with greenery and a good breakfast/bar area next to the beach.

A serviceable hotel

The staff flex between over hyping amenities (e.g. an “immaculate ocean view”, when the view is fine, but is obstructed and far from immaculate, to acting put upon for basic requests (e.g. ordering a good coffee from the bar at breakfast). The breakfast is fine, but you’d be better served going to another place around the island. This is a serviceable place but does not meet the expectations that were generated by the listing on the site.

7 days in paradise!

Really loved this resort, and the island. Our suite had everything we needed and was super comfortable. Lived the small kitchen and that the toilet and shower room was separate. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Right on the beach, and the pool was fabulous too. Would definitely go back!!

A true piece of paradise! My best friend and I visited La Playa for a girls trip for three days and wish we stayed longer. The staff at La Playa are all very friendly, professional, positive and helpful. Room was clean and exactly as described/seen in the photos. La Playa is located within steps to the downtown of Orient Bay where you have many great dining options. The beach and beach service is to die for! Cannot wait to return.

This was our second stay here ... always been completely satisfied. Staff is very friendly and helpful and the location is absolutely perfect. Too many good places to eat that it's hard to choose!

Very convenient to restaurants and beach is right on property!!!

If you happened upon this resort and am wondering if you should go…. please do not hesitate a single second longer! This was the absolute best experience and vacation my husband and I have ever been on. We have a hectic day to day schedule and wanted a vacation that would be beautiful first and foremost, but also extremely relaxing. We got both and couldn’t be happier. The hotel serves a delightful breakfast serving traditional American items as well as continental. If you haven’t had a Nespresso provided in your room before breakfast you are sure to have a wonderful outside overlooking the incredible water. The beach is kept clean every morning which is steps away from your room. You are provided lounge chairs, umbrellas, and towels for your day as well as food and drink service. Lunch is served at an additional price so you must try it out, but your room also has a kitchenette which was amazing! We walked steps to a supermarket and bought many items to make ourselves lunch on other days. The hotel does not serve dinner, but steps away are many amazing restaurants serving every type of food to match your tastes. The staff at the hotel are all very friendly and accommodating. A simple Bonjour will break the ice and you are on your way to great conversation with them. With all that said… if you are looking for the most relaxing vacation of your life this is the resort to stay at.

Loved everything about this resort!

The property is scheduled for remodeling post my stay. It was comfortable with most necessary amenities. An older property. Cute little swing with in pictures was not at the property. The restaurants around the property were delicious. A few stray dogs like to hang around.

The front desk staff are wonderful!! However… the staff at the restaurant and bar leave something to be desired. Not friendly, not helpful, and they watch/stand over you at breakfast. It felt as if we were annoying them by simply wanting to eat there.

This is our second time staying at La Playa. Staff was amazing. Rooms were clean and spacious. Breakfast was very good with plenty of options. There is a good amount of seaweed this time of year but it didn’t affect our stay. Overall great resort. Will definitely return

Disappointed

We were so disappointed with La Playa this time. In November 2023 we stayed at this hotel and loved it, so we decided to go back and spend another week, even though it was much more expensive than other hotels in Orient Bay. Apparently, the management was never there. It seems that housekeeping lacks training, and they would come in at odd hours. (one day at 9:00am, another after 3:30pm) They never change the water for the mops, taking the dirty water from room to room. Furthermore, they only changed the bed sheets after 5 days because I asked them to. The vane of the A/C was falling apart so we asked them for some tape to fix it and stop it from falling. Hopefully all this will be better after the coming renovation. We had to buy our own paper towels and dishcloths for the kitchen, as they don’t supply you with any, and our entire sink area was full of water due to the leakage of the coffee maker. What’s the use of a complete kitchen with detergent and sponge and nothing to dry the dishes/utensils with? The pillows were lousy. The rules for using the beach loungers and umbrellas seemed to have changed: you cannot take any of your own snacks, not even water. You must use their restaurant that now belongs to a separate owner. (this isn’t disclosed when making reservations and not standard in other St Martin hotels, where we have been coming to for the last 25 years). As a precaution for being rainy season, they taped out 1/3 of the parking spaces within the gates in case it

La Playa has one of the nicest beaches we have been to. The grounds are well kept and the facilities are always being improved.

We loved the small town feel, everything was in walking distance. Small shops, and over 12 great restaurants, just a few steps from the hotel

We loved La Playa! The staff was great-anything we requested was handled very promptly. Our room was very comfortable and clean. Terrific shower with large rainhead as well as a handheld. Always hot water (some other hotels we have stayed at in St. Martin not always the case). Very comfortable bed and excellent water pressure. Wonderful buffet breakfast with loads of options. Lovely beach restaurant and comfy beach chairs. I also had a wonderful hot stone massage with Nya.We have already booked our next trip!

Great time

The location of the hotel is perfect, right next to a small shopping plaza whichbhas about 8 restaurants. We tried a new restaurant every night and none disappointed. The staff at the hotel was vert friendly and assisted my husband in setting up our anniversary surprise for me The room was big and beautiful, bed was very comfortable, showet great. Parking was right on the property. Breakfast was included, had enough choices to enjoy it. Would love to come back again.

Really great environment and people

I love the property and the stay was wonderful. I just didn’t like the fact that ants were a problem in the room especially in my bed. However the views, breakfast and the staffing were awesome.

Location on the beach was the single best feature. Food at Breakfast was great, with Gluten free bread available. Room was perfect, and pool was great. Walking distance to eating and other activities, but very quiet and safe. Our 4th trip for a reason!

Orient Bay in St. Martin is a must stay. La Playa is as advertised, we enjoyed our time in their care.

It is an expensive hotel but very cheaply operated. Wi-Fi had to be logged onto every time you use it, breakfast was very common, no variation from day to day. Cockroaches were in the room, they are too cheap to clean the seaweed from their section of the beach, except when cruise ship tourists are coming. Not a good value for the money!

My wife and I spent a week at La Playa Orient Bay and absolutely loved it. The property is not exactly “upscale” or fancy but is definitely nice, clean, and very comfortable. It’s steps from the beautiful beach and an easy walk to numerous quality restaurants of various cuisines as well as a small market. Also loved the beach bar and its friendly French proprietor GP. Staff is friendly and helpful. Only small negative is that other properties are much closer than they appear in the pictures, but that didn’t detract from our stay at all. We’d love to go back.

Close proximity to restaurants, shops and beach were great!

What a fantastic resort!! It was actually better than the pictures portrayed. It is literally on the beach and right out the gate is an amazing array of restaurants. The staff was absolutely fantastic. They arranged a few things for us that worked out beautifully. The food was excellent. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at La Playa and would recommend it. It is exactly what a beach vacation in the Caribbean should be.

This is the 3rd time we have stayed at La Playa in Saint Martin, and it is always such a joy! The staff from the front desk is incredible, and we always enjoy the atmosphere of our rooms. The location is prime with access to The Village with multiple amazing restaurants. Our favorite part is getting to know and see the staff at the bar and restaurant for La Playa each year! They are always excited to welcome us back, and we have grew great connections with them. We look forward to coming back again!

Very quiet and quaint place that allows vacation to feel relaxing, rejuvenating and refreshing!

Our favorite hotel on the island -- we've actually been there twice in the last 6 months. Nice spacious room, dining and bar on site, short walk to excellent restaurants and of course the beach. We will definitely return!

Love the location and some of the amenities. Air conditioning was weak.

The only bad part was that the hotel was far from everything that there was interest on the island and every taxi ride was minimum 35 US dollars each way, so the taxis rides added up and was expensive. Other than that is was excellent.

The staff at the front desk are wonderful. The rooms are freshly updated generously sized and well appointed. Overall an excellent experience. Room for improvement on the beach as half of the chairs are reserved for rentals and many resort guests will miss out on front row ocean views to those coming to rent seats. The breakfast buffet pancakes were dry and cold every day. The other bread options were good. The pool area is nice but the pool liner is in need of a stretch and the pool filtration was questionable. Location was spectacular for getting around.

My wife and I had a wonderful stay, was well serviced by the attentive and friendly staff, and recommend this hotel highly! Beautiful, inviting and fun!

We spent a wonderful week at La Playa! The location, the property and the staff were amazing!

The property was beautiful and clean, and the staff was very helpful and kind. The beach area was beautiful as where the chairs and umbrellas set up every morning. The free breakfast was a plus but a little boring… The same thing every day… Maybe a little change would’ve been nice. Our room was listed as Oceanview, but we really only had a peekaboo glance. That is why I gave it a good instead of an excellent. Otherwise fantastic. However, our room was spacious, clean and absolutely beautiful. I loved sitting out on the balcony every morning and reading my book with a cup of coffee. Restaurants were close and if you needed a cab to go to the other towns, the front desk handled that beautifully.

Outstanding customer service. Beautiful beach and picturesque mountains with dining within 200 ft of resort. It’s located on the French side, so be prepared for 220v plug ins. Bring your 110v to French 220v adapter for wider pronged plugs you may have. Very little shopping on this end of the island. And those French door locks were very different as well. Once again, the staff at LaPlaya was super nice and took care of everything we asked for. Would highly recommend!!

Everything was fantastic! The room was comfortable, big and the view was great. The staff was excellent especially Alexandra, Elena, and Bénédicte. The pool and beach were awesome. Can’t wait to come back!

La Playa is truly paradise. The facilities are wonderful, the staff is kind and helpful, the other guests are great, and the location is second-to-none. Although we don't often revisit places, we are seriously considering this one!

It was our first trip to St Martin and we loved the resort. There is no reason to stay at any other and we will definitely be going back! It does not feel at all crowded and it is laid back. It’s peaceful and not loud. The staff was very friendly and accommodating! We loved our ocean suite including the amazing large walk in shower with the rain shower head. The rooms are clean and modern. Even had a kitchenette with a very good size fridge. Right outside the resort just steps away there is a small grocery store along with several other shops. There is a great French bakery we went to in the morning. At night there is a great area with multiple dining options. The resort also has a pool, which is a nice option to have. The beach was beautiful and the ocean water was a perfect r temperature. The scenery was amazing where the resort is located with mountains in the backdrop. The bartender, GP, is fantastic!!! He makes some epic drinks and he has a great personality. He had us laughing the entire time and we enjoyed hanging out with him. Special to GP, Carlos, Alexandra for everything!! You guys made our trip amazing!!! See you again!

Excellent beach location. Room was large with full kitchen. Large refrigerator, 2 burner cooktop,microwave, sink all enclosed behind sliding door. Well air conditioned! As cool as you wanted. Quite hot in St Martin. Possibly adding an air conditioned dining area would be nice. All staff was extremely helpful, polite. Any request was met with a smile and saying Of Course. Plenty of choices of food there or just out a gate. Plenty of good restaurants.grocery. Relaxing place.some music, walk to everything there. Taxis and car rentals easy. Driving can be sketchy if you chose. Taxis are pros. Fantastic fun at GP’s bar and grill. Beach nice w/plenty of chairs. We saw no rush to pick a favorite spot all good. To many nice people to name without leaving out someone but they all were!! It’s not home so different thoughts are expected by some. We respect different culture when in a different country. We met so many nice people fm the states. Lots of French of course. They make it work. LaPlaya staff will handle everything for they can for you. Enjoyed. Thanks!

Enjoyed first time stay

Just returned from La Playa Orient Bay after a ten night stay, and it was as they say in French "Superb!!". Property location and convenience is perfect and the beach is beautiful. The premier junior suite was comfortable and kept well maintained by staff. The breakfast buffet was fresh and generous. All Staff were professionals. Loved La Playa and will return. PD AD Chicago

he staff makes all the difference and La Playa has the best. This hotel is divided into several buildings with just 3 room per floor in a garden setting. Right on the beach with a great restaurant and many more excellent ones just across the street. It's also in a "gated community" with other a few other hotels, and residences. It made it feel even safer. The rooms are huge with lots of closet space, sitting area and balcony.

Staff was great. Location to beach and restaurants was excellent. Perfect relaxing vacation.

Beach Activities Resort breakfast/lunch

This was our first time staying at La Playa since the 2017 hurricane devasted the island - last time we stayed there it was L'Hoste. The hotel has undergone a wonderful upgrade since the refurbishing post Irma. The rooms were nice before but they're now even better - large, clean rooms with comfortable beds, kitchenette and beautiful bathrooms with rain shower heads. The same friendly, courteous, efficient staff as always. Loved the included breakfasts at the restaurant on the beach - fruit, wonderful pastries, scrambled eggs, sausage, coffee, etc - couldn't ask for better. Have always loved the location - with the number of excellent restaurants located right next door in La Place du Village, we felt no need to go elsewhere for dining.during our five day / six night stay. Book it - you won't be disappointed.

This property exceeded expectations. While it's not the Ritz Carlton, it may as well be with the service that is extended to every guest. Kind, courteous, friendly and always willing to go the extra mile to help. The food options are not great at the resort (they don't offer dinner and the breakfast is very, very limited) but that is easily remedied by going through the convenient gate right to the attached plaza which has 10 restaurants, a great gelato place, pizza place, grocery store and so much more. Easy, convenient and such a pleasant stay. The beach there is clean and well maintained, just steps away from your room door.

The location is excelent, within walking distance everywhere - beach, restaurants, shopping, theatre. Elena was very good providing information and making arrangements for car rental, restaurants and trip to Saba. The hotel is on the pricey side. We stayed in previous in lower cost lodging options who are similar in quality and services, although location can’t be beat.

How to get around.

The hotel has a boutique feel to it. It's clean and private. I had an ocean view that was more like a parking lot ocean view. But I could see the ocean so I can't complain. The entire island has great food, especially the French side. La Playa has many great options that are walkable. The pool could be better here and needs some upkeep, but you of course have a giant ocean in its place. If you're a pool person, its pretty small, and I imagine it could get crowded during peak times. The staff was great and recommended many restaurants that were good outside of Orient Bay. They assisted with excursions that were also great. I would stay here again. Tip: Cash tips are often required at some restaurants. They don't always allow you to put the tip on the card.

Idyllic vacation spot

Perfect location for a vacation. Orient Bay is stunning, especially at sunrise. The rooms were clean, the staff friendly and super helpful. Highly recommend!

We spent a week at LaPlaya and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. The rooms are clean and fresh. The air conditioner worked wonderfully even at the peak hours of the day. The staff were very welcoming and did their best to accommodate us in every way. They provide you with beach towels and a liter of drinking water each day. (You cannot drink the tap water.) A couple things to know, they don't use top sheets or face (wash) cloths which may very well be an American thing, so bring a loofa or your own. We visited the breakfast buffet but weren't big fans of the runny eggs. We found the most amazing shop next door had the best waffles and crêpes and opted for that location for breakfast. The beach chairs provided are to the right of the attendant and you HAVE to be there early to get a good set up or you are placed in the back. (I mean 3 to four rows back) We weren't pleased that you could only sit to the right side unless you rent $$ the extremely empty left side to have the ocean view. While we were there it appeared a cruise excursion came and utilized the chair space one of the days. We would definitely recommend this hotel and will come again.

We had a wonderful stay at La Playa Orient Bay!! The room was clean and beautiful. The beach was fantastic and the staff was amazing. My only complaints were the service at the bar - the older bartender served people who arrived after us, before us. The breakfast buffet wasn't great. The beach umbrellas were rusted and gross underneath. Overall, I would stay again! The area provides many options for food and bars.

This was a beautifully maintained property. Our room was spacious and very quiet. Good menu offerings for breakfast and lunch. Overall food was delicious. GB the bartender was super friendly and professional. Loved the beach and the staff working the beach were always helpful. Everyone, including the other patrons, were very friendly. The nearby restaurant courtyard had so many wonderful food options. Huge jump up in quality above the usual 'beach resort' food!

La playa orient bay was a fantastic resort. We loved the location, there are tons of great restaurants nearby. The hotel staff was exceptional. Our room was top notch, loved the king bed, great AC and water pressure. Their beach front can’t be beat!!

Lovely room and staff. Beach great. Only problem was difficulty replacing used items in room, such as coffee pods, towels, shampoo, etc. often asked multiple times. Beach restaurant good-wish they weren’t so quick to remove breakfast at exactly 10 am ! Beach service excellent.

There is such a strange tense vibe here at a beautiful location. A few more smiles and relaxed service would do this place wonders.
