Great spot

Paradise

Beautiful facilities. A little paradise. Very quite serene grounds. Close to everything. Loved our stay there. Staff was wonderful. Would definitely stay again. Restaurant was great too.

An average place. Staffs are nice and friendly. The facility definitely needs a facelift. Needs detail cleaning and wash room renovation. It is what it is. Don’t expect much. I’m not sure if it’s in the facility’s DNA to address these shortcomings. On the positive side it is quiet. Close to the major traffic artery. Many restaurants and shops within walking distance.

It a modest hotel with a relaxing vibe, the rooms are basic but value for money in general. The location is great with many walking distance restaurants and shops.

The staff were very helpful and attentive.

I loved my stay here. The staff was very nice. I took a shuttle in from the hotel for 250K. I enjoyed the simple morning breakfast and unlimited coffee. My only issue was other guests who came back drunk at 2 am and sat for over an hour yelling in the restaurant and around the pool (both closed at that hour). There was no 24 hour security to ask them to stop. If you’re okay with that possibility, this is a wonderful place.

Fantastic pool area - lots of sunshine and sun loungers. Great for those wanting to lay around in the sun.

3 nights - 3 stars

A medium sized older build hotel with a small swimming pool in the middle of the complex. Pros: location, location, location! 50m to the beach, cafes, restaurants and shops. Cons: non discript, old hotel. 3 floors with no lifts which didn't bother us as I ran up the stairs to try and work off some of the holiday indulgence. My pet hate - shower in the bath. Staff were friendly, but we didn't spend much time in the hotel or by the pool as there were too many children.

Budget, simple, good location

Great customer service, the rooms are very plain - new but not many amenities. The lighting is terrible. Expensive for what you get but the location makes up for the budget accommodation. Breakfast was fresh - a la carte with many choices.

5th visit - still a winner

Location suburb - 5mins walk to any sort of shopping required - 10 mins walk to beach. Room quality very good - large shower/good pressure/hot water. Bed is good, but not premium. Free breakfast is from set menu but many choices - very good. coffee ordinary. Mostly love the big pool and lovely surroundings and the ever so helpful staff.

Oasis Hotel

Hotel is quiet set back off the road. Pool is better than pictured and enough pool chairs for the guest there. Rooms were big with everything needed. Included breakfast is hit and miss they never quite get it right but you still manage to get food on a plate. Beds were fine definitely not plush confort. Shower had great pressure and ample space. Would stay again as I like the peace and quiet they hotel offers in the room and around the pool.

Caring and reliable staff always ready to help you out with any concerns you may have. A very quiet hotel if you need to chill out from from the hustle and bustle of markets and shops. Nice room and large bathroom was great. Pool was clean and refreshing ! Thanks to Poppy who made us feel welcome.

DO NOT STAY AT THIS HOTEL - terrible experience!

First, we stayed in room 102. It immediately smelled like a sewer, it wasn't terrible but it wasn't great. We tried to flush the toilet thinking it would get rid of the smell, but the new water that flushed into the toilet was brown and smelled 10x worse. Additionally, there were also yellow and brown stains scattered all over the bed sheets, comforters, and all the towels. We also found 3 spiders that crawled somewhere behind the bed. The side lamps were also broken and the tea kettle wasn't clean. Afterward, we called the staff and asked to be moved. In the new room, we checked the bedsheets and there was a huge yellow/brown stain that looked like a spray of poop/pee/vomit. We called the staff to replace the sheets and as they were uncovering the bed, we saw an even larger brown/black stain that covered like 1/4 of the bed. Initially, the roomed smelled ok, but after we showered the sewer smell started to appear and gradually got stronger through the night. The teapot in this room was dirty as well. We had to sleep on top of the comforter (covered in our jackets, hoodies, socks) because we were scared to get inside the covers and get skin disease. We got no rest that night! We checked out the next day, and talked to the hotel about a refund for the remaining 3 nights. The manager “approved” it, but when Hotels.com called to confirm, they refused the refund. After a couple weeks, Hotels.com finally refunded our money from their own system.

Kubu Cempaka was perfect for me! A clean and spacious room to use as a home base for venturing out every day. It was an easy walk to all the places I wanted to go and probably about 20-30 min to the beach. It's about a five minute walk to the main road with lots of shops and restaurant options but the property itself is very quiet and calm. As a female traveling solo, I felt perfectly safe walking to the hotel at night. The staff was absolutely wonderful. I came down with Bali belly on my last night there (not from the hotel I had eaten out that whole day) and when I ordered breakfast the next morning they could see that I was not well and were instantly concerned about me. I was super dehydrated and weak so they brought me steamed rice and juice to my room, asked if I had medicine and came back a few minutes later with hydration packets. If it wasn't for them taking such good care of me that morning, I don't think I would've been able to make the trip home. I would definitely stay here again.

fantastic small hotel

We loved it here, small, quiet and great pool. The staff are fantastic. Breakfast is a wide variety and good. We will stay here again, great position. Easy walk to Jl Legian. New bath towels would be good.

Amazing place

Amazing place to stay, staff are fantastic and helpful nothing is too much bother for them to make your stay enjoyable. It’s set back from the hustle and bustle of the heart of seminyak. But please don’t let that fool you because from where the hotel is set , it’s only a 5 or 10 minute walk depending on your pace of walking to the Main Street with all the shops and bintang supermarket. The rooms are located very near the pool. The bed was comfortable, the room was kept clean everyday. Also the shower was powerful and warm which was just what I needed after a very long flight from the United Kingdom.

Lovely little hotel

This is our 3rd time back to Kubu it’s s lovely little hotel the breakfast is amazing , I loved the banana pancakes! The rooms are clean and the staff are very friendly and helpful , Poppy helped us to book a boat to Gili. Pool is very nice and always nice and quiet

Great local place hidden from the hustle & bustle

We found Kubu Cempaka to be a great small hotel with personalised service, and a great pool! The restaurant/ pool area was very quiet and relaxing. The room was spacious and great for the price. They include some complimentary snacks and great wifi. We had an upstairs room with balcony which was away from the pool - room 204 (More private) The location was along a quieter local street which is great to interact with the local store owners/residents (say hello to Widia at Christine's spa) Then just a short walk and you are in the hustle and bustle of Seminyak with many shops/restaurants and transport! The supermarket isn't a far walk. The reception/ breakfast staff were so accommodating and helped us with many things. We would definitely stay at Kubu Cempaka again!

It was alright. Not sure why the reviews were so great. Hotel is older and condition is so-so. Staff were friendly and happy.

Great relaxing atmosphere

I can't say enough about my stay The staff are friendly, the hotel is maintained To a very high standard, perfectly situated for my needs Iv stayed in hotels ten times more expensive than this place that have provided half the value 5 star all the way!

Quiet and lovely stay

We stayed here for 4 nights and enjoyed every minute of it. The hotel is located in a nice spot away from traffic and noise. But it is not too far away from everything. It has a great pool and a massage area above the restaurant. The room is a good size and the bed is comfortable. We had a room on the 2nd floor with a balcony. The ground floor rooms open directly to the pool and restaurant area. The staff were friendly and breakfast was nice every morning. We will return again when staying in Seminyak.

Not too impressed.

Didn't leave the hotel too impressed. However the staff were very friendly and helpful on arrival and throughout stay. In my first room the air conditioning didn't work great and there were lots of mosquitos and bugs in the room. Hot water in shower lasted couple of minutes. Requested to change room within one hour. New room was cooler but shower was still very poor for hot water. Also loud noise from extractor fan. Room did come with free snacks and 15 minute free massage which was a nice touch. Breakfast was inadequate. Very small portions will little meat options. Should give fruit and juice as standard instead of being tight in choosing one. Located a bit of a walk from beach. Had to nagate past two stray looking dogs to get to hotel. Won't be going back at this price point.

Nice hotel and lovely staff

A lovely welcome including a drink and a free 15 minute massage. The staff were attentive and gave us a free upgrade. The pool is clean and lovely. Breakfast was slightly disappointing but on a day when we left early for a trip to Nusa Penida, they provided us with a breakfast bread basket to go which was lovely.

Hidden paradise in central Seminyak.

Real gem in central Seminyak. Excellent service and friendly courteous staff in a peaceful location. No surprises.

Nice quiet "resortlike"

We spent 6 nights in this wonderful place. Staff was very attentive and went out of their way to please. Room was good, comfy bed, and ok shower. Situated in a good location, walking distance to main road with resto,shops and 15 mins to walk to beach. Seminyak square a short drive for good shopping and many restaurants. Highly recommend this hotel for price vs quality.

Second stay, great as always

We loved staying here, so much so that we returned to the same guest house for our final 2 nights in Bali. It was easily the cleanest resort/guesthouse that we stayed at throughout our 3 weeks in Bali. Very comfortable with a great pool area. Very close to lots of shops and restaurants. Bit of a walk to the beach, but the hotel pool is nicer anyways.

We loved staying at the kubu cempaka! Beautiful pool area and lovely little rooms. Very quiet area of seminyak but 5 minute walk to shops and restaurants. 15 minutes to the beach but we preferred the hotel pool! Very nice staff, and very clean comfortable room

Lovely hotel

This was our 2nd visit to Kubu cempaka It's a lovely small hotel that is very clean and the staff are so friendly and helpful The breakfast is amazing , especially the banana pancakes! Shops and restaurants are a 5 minute walk and the beach is only 10 minutes away We will definitely be back

Clean tidy and very friendly and helpful staff

Our stay was very pleasant , I can not fault anything about this little 20 room hotel , I can highly recommend it to anyone I can not believe how good for the price and even breakfast was cooked fresh and your room was done everyday before lunch and its walking distance to many nice restaurants 10/10 for me

Top place for relaxing holiday in a quiet spot in bali but still having the restaurants and shops close by. Staff were wonderful and the hotel facilities excellent. Would definitely return.

Our secret.

It was our second time at Cempaka and love it. it is small, very quiet, about 10 minutes from Jl. Legian. We prefer small and intimate, understated rather than large, loud, filled with balinese artifacts. the staff are delightful, the rooms good. I suggested they scrub the floors of rooms and especially the shower more often. by the pool it would be nice to have some more sun umbrellas and sun lounges. Our fellow guests were always very nice, quiet, I hope they will keep having the same quiet ambiance so we want to keep on coming back.

Loved this place!

We couldn't have been happier with our ten night stay at Kubu Cempaka. Very friendly, happy and helpful staff; clean and comfortable rooms and bathrooms; beautiful and well maintained pool and grounds; and great quiet and convenient location. It's not five star luxury, but amazing value for the price. We'll definitely be returning.

Quiet hotel in the centre of Seminyak

Older building in need of repair. Room very small and limited space for 2 people with luggage. Hotel staff very friendly and helpful.

More than adequate

The staff is helpful and polite. Very nice breakfast. The grounds are lovely and the pool is beautiful. It's about a 5-minute walk to a street full of shopping and restaurants. 5 more to the beach. Away from the hustle and bustle.

Nice new hotel set off main st

Lovely staff and good location out of the noise, but close enough to be amongst the hassle and bustle of Seminyak. A short walk to one of the main streets for shopping and eating and not too far from the main centre were you can find more upmarket shops and restaurants. Staff were happy to arrange tours and give directions. Pool was lovely and the grounds were well kept. A fare way from the beach but still in walking distance.

Just ok

Clean and tidy premises , but basic & lacking personality. The breakfast were very basic , and sheets : pillowcases were not cleaned , jus fluffed even after 5 nights !! Was ok and pretty well priced , but you can find much better

Great quiet place - recommended

Everything was great : room was clean, staff was helpful, hotel was quiet away from the street hustle. Breakfast choice is great. Pool is quite big ang garden peaceful. 5 min walk from main street with good restaurants around, laundry place 1 min walk away. Would definitely recommend it. Great value for money.

I originally only booked one night because I had bad experiences at other hotels. Ended up staying 4. Only left because I had other places to go and people to see

Great Value

I chose this hotel based on reviews and wasn't disappointed. The staff are very helpful and assist in any way they can. I had a pool, air con and wasn't too far from one of the Main Streets for Bali shopping. A small distance from the beach and Seminyak square but nothing a scooter ride or a exercise walk couldn't fix.

Stay there

Great hotel just outside the hussle and bustle of seminyaki. Great infinity pool,cheap and good quality food Great value for money will definatly be going back two days before we leave bali for the hotel and the shopping near by.

Close to shopping district and beach

The room was comfortable and the staff is very nice. Unfortunately the room was not very clean. The hotel is in a good location with shops and the beach nearby. Overall a nice hotel.

Boutique beauty

We couldn't have asked for more. The staff are amazing and no matter what is required they can not do enough for you . It is situated in walking distance to restaurants and shopping. The beach is only 15min walk away. If we return to Seminyak , this will be a definite for accommodation.

A pleasant place to have a short stay

Overall is quite good especially with the competitive price. The staff are friendly and helpful. But the cleanliness shall be subject to improvement as the room got quite a lot of ants and two dead spiders were found on the floor. Also, it is better to request the swimming pool view if you make the reservation for the 2nd floor because not much room facing the swimming pool actually.

Quiet and Peaceful Hotel

The Hotel is small, but is in an excellent location, not far from the beach and very close to good shopping, from supermarket to high end fashion.

Little Oasis in Seminyak!

Hotel was like an Oasis tucked away from surrounding neighborhood. It felt very safe and comfortable. Easy walk to shopping, the beach, restaurants, etc...

Small hotel off the main roads offering privacy and no traffic noise Incredibly helpful staff Delightful pool Extensive menu with very reasonable pricing The hotel is close to good restaurants, spas and shopping whit the Bintang Supermarket a few minutes walk away The beach is about a fifteen minute walk Because the hotel is just off the main road we found that none of the Taxi drivers knew where it was, but with a bit of explaining there was no trouble. On Monday evening the hotel puts on a display of traditional Balinese music and dancing - really worth staying in for the night to enjoy it with the accompanying dinner

Beautiful grounds, beautiful room.Pool is relaxing and SO clean. Staff are friendly, helpful and always smiling and polite.Hotel is close to shopping, restaurants and beach. Cannot wait to come back again !!

Good Service

Thanks to the hotel staff for their effort to make our honeymoon trip memorable. Hotel staffs are friendly. Especially one of the male staff which i don't know his name,who came to our room to clean the bathroom as we requested, he is good and many thanks to him. The hotel is new, spacious and comfortable. Room's light is bright.We love our stay here.

OK trip

Had a good stay. Was a little far from city centre but overall a good hotel.

Stayed at Kubu Cempaka Seminyak in September 2015. This is a very nice B & B with friendly staff. Would stay here again next time we are in Bali.

Quiet place, clean, friendly ambience

15-20 min by walk from Seminyak beach, but not noisy around, awesome pool and gross field are very useful for relax after the beach or crazy night in Kuta. On the way theare are couple if warungs "for locals" but quite cheap and friendly, but not mechilen style. Monday's traditional balienese dancing/animation is very interesting. if you are "active traveller" by walk, bike or car - I would defenitely recommend this place! But breakfast has up to 7 options but not much to be full ))))

DON'T GET SICK

None of the staff new where the closet chemist was, they really are not prepared for hotel guests yet. A local Balinese friend spoke with them in their own language and he also was surprised how bad their knowledge and service was. The hotel itself is almost new so good facilities although bathroom already getting moldy, they didn't clean properly. There are so many well run and well priced places in Bali and in Seminyak. This is not the only place try a more central place with better staff.
