Good value for money, esp. for HK
Great value for money. Very small as expected with a private toilet and showers. They forgot to put towels, which were not absorbent. The receptionist was very helpful and explained how to use the facilities. Just follow the email's direction.
Smells cigarrete and moldy. But staff are great!
I've stayed at Chungking Mansions and this is a good improvement
Smoking in the hallway, public area
The guesthouse allows smoking even in the hallway of the unit which holds several guestrooms. No division of smoking and no smoking units.
Hotel staff gave us a bigger room without us asking which was very nice of him. I have no experience staying in other budget places in Hong Kong to say how it would compare. There was quite a few cockroaches when the lights first come on, but I suspect that might be normal in these big old buildings. They didnt bother us. Overall it was fine, area was great!
Only good for sleeping, close for shopping and dining. Need more people how to speaking English atleast.
Satisfied customer here
The staff are very accommodating and we are satisfied to their services , on how they clean the room everyday and change the towels. We also like the place because it was near to those essential needs.
It was nice and accessible. The A21 shuttle to the airport is basically right out the hotel which is convenient.
Good for an eco choice, but not good in quality.
Just the job
Good location and value.
The property was very clean, the cleaner came every day to clean the unit and even came a few times to check as we were yet to be out from the unit. The pipe to the sink
Great location, but a Little bit complicated to reach the exact place
Clean, walking distance to interesting place, good location (access to the metro, bus to airport), helpful staff, supplying drinking water.
Great location, helpful staff. Good value for money
Good Things in Small Package
Room may be small but comfortable. Daily the room is cleaned and new towels given. When needed the staff is helpful with the limited English they know. Location is great. Subway station close to every part of the city and bus stops as well. Thanks for my stay.
Rip-off! Not even an animal deserves such a place. The picture of the room I booked wasn't what I was given. I got told by the receptionist that this is a hostel rather than a guesthouse that Expedia advertised. Such an unsafe place! In the event of fire, there's no chance for escape. In the lift, corridor and even the room it feels just unsafe. When I stopped by the nearby shops to ask for directions, the shop assistants laughed and were surprised I was going to stay at such a place. I didn't get their attitude until I got in. The room is less than 2-meter wide and less than 3-meter long. The window not opening. No shower, so you shower over the toilet seat thus making you dry up the toilet seat afterwards before using it. The bed is lesser than 2-meter long. I told the receptionist I was leaving the next morning to claim my money back for the remaining 2 days and they said I had to take it to Expedia. Has Expedia ever inspected this location? Disgrace is an understatement!
Friendly and helpful staff. Room was typical Hong Kong size, but it had everything we needed, including an electric kettle and a hair dryer. Bed was very very comfortable. Will definitely come back. Location is very convenient for transport and for hundreds of restaurants.
Great central position. Adequate for everything. I had a good stay and felt safe. Easy to contact them too. Great bargain accom!
There are a few others guestrooms at the same building.
1. Didn't informed us about the renovation still work-in-progress before check-in. 2. The renovation started at 9am every morning within the period we stayed there.
Good location
It was at great location and it is very convenient for the local buses as well as MTR and various of food around. There are some supermarkets around too. But it doesn't have a fridge despite of the room being quite dim.
Excellent Mong Kok location, local attractions!
Rooms and bathrooms small but very clean. Location a 5 minute walk to Mong Kok MTR station, 6 minute walk to the 'rocket' minibus to Sai Kung, and 5 minutes walking to Ladies' Market - fantastic! Lots of cheap local places to eat as well. Compared to the prices of name-brand hotels on New Year's Eve weekend, this was a bargain! Not for those who insist on the standard roominess of American style hotels, but this has all the basic needs well covered and was a fun adventure. Staff was thoughtful, friendly, helpful and efficient!
I enjoyed my stay very much. The room and ensuite toilet was clean. The location was prime, just a short walk from Mong Kok MTR Station. Both Keith and Joey were really friendly and helpful as well. There was just a small hiccup with the room arrangement, was told to change room as I was wrongly given a twin room when mine was meant to be a Single room. I would definitely consider coming back to stay because there's also the ease of having the airport express bus just less than 3 min walk from the building.
is ok for staying short period.
Nice location, good transportation, staff and cleaner are very well
Everything was clean no smell and good mattress the people were helpful especially a security guard on the main floor the price was good and the area was great for lots of choices of food and shopping but while I was laying on the bed I saw a cockroach crawl up the wall beside me other then that everything was very good and it was safe !
Clean, Quiet, Economical, stay in Mongkok.
Mongkok Guest House is economical stay in a bustling part of the city. If you want a genuine HK experience stay in Mongkok, if you want a western style hotel stay, pay more money, stay at the harbor. The room is small, it is the Sun Hing Building on Nathan Rd. It is clean, it has a private bath (also small) with shower that is not in a separate enclosure; this is typical throughout Asia. We were provided fresh towels everyday, trash cans emptied, and toothpaste/brushes/shampoo provided. The building has an eclectic mix of guest houses, businesses and residences and is in the center of the Mongkok business district. There are good locks on the doors and a kinda security on the ground floor. Out the backdoor of the building will reveal many eateries. If you come from the Airport take the bus (A21); easier than the MTR and bus has no limits on luggage, no stairs, very little walking. Get of at Sino Center and walk South to the nearest pedestrian crossing. After crossing, the building is North. Stay here as an economic alternative to the tourist hotels at the harbor. I found it to be quiet (24th floor), clean and I loved all the nearby food options.
Location was great, close to all shopping, food and transportation. Staff was friendly though I didn’t request much. They do offer to clean the room daily. Getting to guest house was simple from the airport with clear directions from owner. Though place was a little bit was what I expected so wasn’t disappointed. It was great that the room had a window with a very good view of the water.
Everything was fine except I don't like the sink, it's really small and the glass shelf above it is in the way, when you brush your teeth. Can't complain too much for the price.
Close to Lady market, Fa Yuan St. and MTR Mongkok The room is clean
Great stay in MongKok
The woman who showed me around my room did a really good job of showing me everything even though she didn't speak English. I was shocked how small the room is but my friend who is from Hong Kong side that my room was far bigger than his and it was big for Hong Kong. I had two windows and a really nice view of the city. The location is in the middle of the city and is great to get around the city. I would 100% go here again it was very nice and friendly.
Bed too short!
Bed too short for people over 1.8m of height.
Good Place to stay for a reasonable price!
The room was small but was very clean and the location was good since it was only a 5 minute walk to the MTR. Lots of places to eat around there and shopping to do. The price was fair considering the location of the hotel.
Great place to stay
It was a good place to stay for the price and location. If you want to be in the central of hong kong and an affordable price then this is the place. It’s not fancy and the room is a bit small for two people but it was what I expected with living in Hong Kong. They clean the room everyday and management was very friendly. Overall, I would recommend this place if you are traveling solo or you are on a tight budget and want to live in a great location.
Great hostility
Tanks for the great hostility from your guest house and Sam helps me a lot, thanks for finding me a charger. Is very kind of him.
Clean and cheap place
Conveniently located. Clean room but toilet abit small. Good steal at this price since a decent hotel price is very high in hk. This shd be consider a guesthouse.
Place is near MRT. Easy to find out the place once arrived. Friendly staff Unfortunately, room size is small but understand in hong kong is normal with that size of room
Great price for its location.
Location is close to everything: MTR, Buses, Food, Shopping. For the price, it is the best of everything.
Good budget choice
Good budget choice. Room is cleaned daily.
Good budget choice, clean room
Good budget choice. Room is small as expected but cleaned daily. Decent wifi speed. Up on 18th floor and windows give good air quality. Bring your own slippers (I used disposable ones). A bit noisy in the afternoon because there are constructions around. OK if you go out during the day. Will go again.
Clean room but too small
When I get to the rooms their is no one their.you had to call a set of phone number to tell them you are their before they came to meet you.room are too small.
Excellent budget stay with easy to access location
Getting to the location was pretty easy: entry to the building is very easy, and then an elevator to the 24th floor. To check into the hostel, you have to call between 9:30am-midnight so that the guy can come check you in. He was super nice and showed us everything we'd need for the room. Three of us stayed in the 'quadruple' room with two double beds. The room had universal power converters so we didn't need our own. Also got washed towels everyday. The bathroom is a combination toilet room and shower. TV is small, but functional- allowed us to watch morning soap operas each day. The beds are a little firm, which I didn't mind, but the pillows were excellent. I feel like a lot of hostels I stay at have very thin pillows, but it wasn't the case here. Wifi was reliable. 5 minutes walk to MTA, Ladies Market, Sino Centre. Not much further to Fish Market / Bird Market. About 40 minutes to Disneyland, 20-25 minutes to Hong Kong Island, a little less than 60 minutes to the airport. The district itself can get a little busy on weekends, though you don't hear the street noise from the rooms. Would definitely stay here again considering the price.
Helpful Staff and Very Clean Room
This location of this guest house is conveniently at the center of every activity in Hong Kong and it is also close to the MTR stations. The owners take very good care of you even before you arrive. They sent out another email to make sure you are not lost in the midst of fish-can-liked situation in Mongkok. The receptionists were very very helpful as they told me to call them anytime almost 24/7 should I encounter a problem with the guest house. Though one of the receptionists speaks English better than the other yet communication in general should not be a problem. What surprised and impressed me most was that the room, especially the toilet/shower, was extremely clean. They also have helpers coming to clean your room everyday if you allow them to by hanging the sign in front of the door. Foods were around at every corner of that area. Nothing else one can ask for if one spends most of the time around that area of Hong Kong. Highly recommended. The only drawback could be the weak WIFI signal but you can already buy a cheap local simcard or rent a wifi egg for your convenience at the airport upon your arrival !
Very basic, for those strapped for cash (students, budget travelers, etc.)
Clean & Central
This is not the Four Seasons, and if you are that style of traveller steer clear. We had a late arriving flight into Hong Kong and planned to be up and out on the tourist route early the following day - this place ticked the box. It was super affordable, it was central and it was reasonably comfortable. The man that checked us in was very helpful and made sure we were safe and comfortable. The room was exceptionally clean. I felt safe enough and were warm. For what it was it really was a good find. If you are JUST after a bed and a hot shower and not looking to spend much time in your room this is the way to go. I would actually stay here again.
Courteous service. Not bad
Great value and friendly staff!
The staff were extremely friendly, and helped us check in even after their advertised hours as our flight arrived just prior to midnight and by the time we got to the hotel it was nearly 1am. Overall the hotel was in a very convenient location and the room was adequate for our short stay needs, we just wanted a clean comfortable bed and a shower/bathroom to clean up before flying off the next day. Good value for money in a great location for budget travellers!
Strategic location in Mongkok
Friendly staff and owner. Hotel is clean. Also very near to mtr station, lady market, langham place, and more others market.
Room is clean and comfortable with daily towel change. Close to Mong Kok and Yau Ma Tei MTR stations with plenty of restaurants and stores. A short 5 minutes walk to Ladies' Street Market.
Room was clean with almost everything u need, like toothbrush, toothpaste, hair dryer, shower gel, shampoo, electric kettle. Only thing lacking was probably a shaving razor for guys. Overall was excellent.
Would come again
Pros: - Polite and responsive staff (rarely experience this when i went to Hong Kong) - Clean (able to sleep soundly) - near to MTR station and bus stops along Nathan Rd (access destinations can be less hassle) - near to Langham mall, ladies market and other market areas in Mongkok - near to halal (kosher) restaurants (it can be hard and frustrating to find halal food outlets hear) - electronic key type doors (feel secure when going out) Cons - it can be confusing and overwhelming to find the guest house, as there are many other guest houses in that building alone. (Just contact the staff before going there or once you arrive there to guide you) - cramped space. But for the price you pay, its still worth it, compared to staying at a hotel - depends on how long you stay, facilities you prefer, how much baggage you carry, family, single or couple
Nice Hotel with excellent location
Easy to find the Hotel with they provided photo of the main entrance of the building. The building got 3 lifts direct to 20th floor until 25th floor, and the Hotel reception is at 24th floor. No comment on others thing.
It is very convenince for shopping place and subwa
Resonable price and convenince place. But the problem about Elevator for service time each zone doesn't clear.
good location but room condition is bad
the room is very dirty & with bad condition, there are a lot of dust /paint fall from ceiling to bed everyday. we need to adjust the sleepy position to avoid the dust, this make us can't have proper rest at night.
Clean, fits the budget, and excellent location.
As soon as we booked on Expedia, the hotel contacted us directly to confirm and send us directions to get to the hotel. Now that’s good service. One bus from the airport took us to within a block of the building. If you know Mongkok, you know this is a very good location, good meaning it’s close to everything fun. But if you’re looking for peace and quiet, don’t come to this district :) The guesthouse itself is in an old building on the 24th floor. It’s what we were expecting; clean rooms, comfortable bed. But very small. If you’re not used to the Asian standards, you may be in for an unpleasant surprise. There’s very little room, hardly any place to hang stuff, and the washroom shower is over the toilet so the whole bathroom is wet when you shower. They certainly could I mprove on some things, like put more hooks and shelves on the wall. But the bed was comfortable, the room was cleaned everyday, and it was nice and quiet even with the windows opened (there is air conditioning). Friends who stayed elsewhere in the area said they paid similar but got less. They had smaller units (is that possible?), and they had shared bathrooms. We were happy with what we got and we would recommend this place as long as you understand what you’ll be getting.
Small and not good to stay it is not hotel anyway
Good location at Nathan Road
After reading all the good reviews, was a bit disappointed with the room given. Room 5 has a very very small cubicle bathroom as compared to my neighbour's room. The wifi is also unstable.
Near night markets
Location is near MTR and few night market. Lots of nice food shops and restaurant around area.
Cheap option for a short stay
Very simple bedroom in a central location in Kowloon. Good if you're spending a couple of nights only. The shower is together with the toilet, so expect to have everything wet after using it.
Budget guest house in Kowloon
Hong Kong prices are high and this guest house is good value. Do not expect the Ritz - the rooms are very small, but this should be expected for the price you are paying. Despite Mr Keith's directions, it is very easy to miss the entrance upon first arriving as the guest house is one amongst many. Good access to both buses and MTR
Nice hotel
Kowloon Mongkok 1812 guesthouse is comfortable hotel with very good location in Mongkok area. Just 2-3 minutes walk from Mongkok station exit E1. Room facilities are enough such as TV, hair dryer, kettle, adapter, air conditioner, shampoo, bath cream, shower cap, comb, toothbrush with mini toothpaste, towel.
Close to shops and restaurants.
Disappointed at the instructions finding the building: 1. SINO Centre logo is not even on the streets. 2. Building name is not even the building name logo. 3. MK1812 logo is not also showed downstairs on the lobby which makes it confusing. 4. Indicating which jewelry shops besides should help people find the entrance. Happy with the hotel amenities: 1. Shower with heater 2. Toothbrush and towels 3. 4 plugs extension cords for your gadgets 5. TV (but limited channels) 6. Nice view over the city 7. Very clean. No cockcroaches. 8. Wifi is extremely fast and convenient. Good thing we are only 2. Because definitely the room is extremely small for a max of 3 persons. Our things barely fit in the room. Overall stay is OK - Good.
Central easy bus trip from airport
Central easy bus trip from airport. Helpful reception.
It's not excellent but comfortable to stay at.
We are a family of 8, booked 2 rooms, arrived earlier than the check in time and immediately was accomodated by the establishment. The room was comfortable and perfect for us. Both rooms are ok except that it is lacking one thing that we needed, a refrigerator for our bottled water, juices and sodas, otherwise it was perfect for us, travelers who just needed a room to sleep and take a shower. We do not stay in our rooms and out all day. I recommend this place.
Convenient location
When you get there, you will use the phone provided outside of room 2407 to call the attendant. He came in 5 minutes or so and showed me the room. Ceiling paint is peeling off, and bed sheets and pillow covers are in dark brown color. Otherwise, I would have given a 4 instead of a 3 for cleanliness. The room is big enough for one person. The bathroom is quite small; I personally would like to have a door/curtain between the shower and toilet bowl. I turned off the fan in the bathroom. When it was on, it drew cooking smell from lower floors to my room. I am a guy, so I would not worry about the night clubs in the lower levels. The overall experience is positive, not bad. Will stay there again.
Excellent budget hotel
This is the nicest budget hotel I have stayed in on my many visits to Hong Kong. The location is very convenient to the MTR, lots of restaurants and glittery shopping center Langham Place. The room was small but bigger than other HK budget hotels and even had a window where you could see the sunrise! Wifi was good, the room was very clean, and everything worked.
Guesthouse with good location
We booked a standard twin room but got upgraded to a room that sleeps 3 people. The staff at the guesthouse were very friendly and our needs were addressed very quickly. The location of the guesthouse is also good, just a 5 minute walk away from airport shuttle bus stop and MTR station. The overall experience is good, considering the price of this guesthouse.
Nice hotel close to MTR and shopping area.
Nice hotel and with the MTR stations all so nearby, it's easy to act and travel. The place surrounded with eateries and shopping, it's definitely a recommended place for families traveling together.
Great location
Owner and staff are very helpful and kind, i hope they are consistent with their service and treat guests fairly.
NICE & CLEAN
i have stay 4 night , Very good place & Convenience for us, overall rating 3.0 clean & tidy , what ever have everyday clean the room , but the bed sheet cover is not everyday changes.( this point need to improved). Hotel facilities - Wifi is strong.
Wish I had stayed here longer!
Due to a mistake with my travel plans, I stayed a day longer and found this guesthouse. I was not disappointed the moment I arrive. The lady working at the desk was absolutely delightful and kind. She was helpful and great to talk to. The room and the restroom was clean, and there was a window with a great view of Kowloon. The building itself is pretty nice as well, with many great restaurants. For those who like to err on the side of caution and does not like the environment of Chung King Mansion, this would be a great place for you. Excellent location, excellent staff, and excellent room. I will definitely come back here again in the future!
Convenient
The way to the room is not tidy and smells bad
cheap & comfortable
cheap, nice service, nice location, comfortable and safe
Clean Budget Guest House
Small clean room with daily house keeping. Location is about 5 mins walk from Mong Kok MTR hence convenient and acessible to anywhere.
very nice place near to mrt
we are happy to stay in this hotel, very comfortable bed and near to mrt! we will go back here again :)
Cheap room in Kowloon
This room is great if you are looking for a cheap small room with minimum bath/shower located in a very convenient location in Mongkok, for you to crash, but don't expect anything more than a basic room in an apartment building shared with other red light businesses.
good location, safty, clean
the hotel was good. the hotel at the good location near Mong kok station and near the shopping center area. but for the building a bit hard to find and when you find the building you will not find the name of the hotel that I think it not okay for this hotel. so overall everything in the hotel was good.!!!
You get what you paid for
You get what you paid for. I can't complain is an experience to go Budget. Is clean n friendly
Great staff, grim building.
Lovely staff but a very bland, very very small room in an old commercial building. Very damp due to humidity and tiny bathroom. Towels stank and I've slept on softer rocks. Kettle was a nice touch. With the mtr being so efficient I wouldn't waste money on staying so close to the centre, but it was certainly an experience. No hawkers or dodgy characters hanging around like properties closer to Victoria harbour.
Great place to stay!
The location was great! Very accessible! Mr. Yiu was very accommodating and friendly as well! Will definitely stay again.
So So ...
On arrival they treated you as real guest. On top of that, they would collect 'deposit' from you on the first day of check-in. On the very last day of checking out... you wld have difficulty in finding their staffs to arrange fr checkout. Just keep you waiting!
Good hotel
We are stayed for 2 nights in Triple room. The location was very good, nearby Mong Kok station. The overall facility was very good except for the toilet was very small which may not suitable for European or American tourist. However, it is very good hotel for budget traveler.
Service was excellent and very helpful staff. Property condition was so so only. Room was small and bed has squeaking sound when you move. Overall was acceptable if you're on a budget.
Convenient location
Guest House is clean and towels are changed daily. Mr Yiu is a very nice and friendly host. Convenience store are around the corner and it is definitely convenient place of stay if you enjoy Mongkok Area.
Great hotel, close to busses and MTR.
Small double bed but everything else was great. Handy to public transport and quiet at night.
Nice hotel with basic amenties nearby!
It's my first time travelling abroad and welcome by Ms. Luk. The guesthouse offer basic items and what really pleases me is the shops and malls around the guesthouse that are easily accessible. It is definitely recommended for those on budget trips. Having your own room and little space and still can sleep comfortably.
Great Location
It’s a small hotel (8 rooms) and is one of many in the building. The hotel is newly constructed (renovated?) and is very clean. The hotel room was itself was small (as could be expected in this price range in HK), but exactly as shown on the web site. It was cleaned daily and we got new towels every day. It was quiet and there was free WiFi. The hotel staff was very friendly and helpful.
Good location to most interesting points.
Was bits nervous cause there is no front desk. No "person" there to talk to you. It is truly not a hotel.
Money worth it
The location was great, very convenient. The room was clean, comfortable enough and small, as they are in Hong Kong. The bathroom was alright. Towels were horrible, small and stained. Bring your own if you can. The service was efficient and we got what we paid for.
Good Hotel
The hotel is good enough for travellers who just want a place to freshen up and sleep
Room is clean though small. Convenient location.
I would recommend this hotel if you are looking for budget accommodation. The location is great, one block and a half from MTR, shopping nearby, foods and plenty of activities you can do in the area.
nice hotel close to public transportation
hotel is located in the middle of the busy area, easy access to public transportation, local shopping and food. bed is a bit firm, and room is small, but overall clean.
Value for Money
The guest house was accessible to the MTR and bus services. An email was sent by the Manager with map and directions - it was helpful.
Nice Hotel
Before we even left for our trip the owner emailed me directions to get to the place. He was also quick to reply to all my questions about transportation & attractions which was very helpful in planning our trip. The owner & stag are very very nice & can speak English. The place is conveniently located to the airport bus stop, MTR, shopping area & restaurants which is a big plus. The wifi is wonderful. Rooms have soap, shampoo, toothbrush, towels, hair dryer etc. the staff is quick to attend to our request for towels & toilet papers. A big plus is the free SIM card they provide. The only area I can suggest improvement is maybe have more tv channels. It gets boring during our down time in the room & there's no English speaking program (except for one channel & not till late in the afternoon). I highly highly recommend this guest house. It's the best value you can get for a comfortable facility, great location & awesome service. Thank you Mr. Keith and Ms Joey.
Great guesthouse at central location
Absolutely terrific!
It's OK. Shower room is not what I had expected, small. Room size are fair, is what you paid for but very clean. Shopping is very convenient.
An accommodation with good service and location
Despite the fact that my son and myself didn't stay in the guesthouse much at daytime I have to say that in term of location and services provided this is indeed an excellent option who are aiming for an accommodation that is value-for -money. Have just booked another stay. Staff are kind, efficient and patient.
Good value.
Nicely renovated room in Mong Kok. Small but nicely appointed and works for a short stay. Handy to subway and shopping. Staff were great and very helpful.

Not good to stay. People bang the door , shouting. Poor towel, no air conditioning
