Good view, comfy, missing details, overscented.
The unit is okay, the place is very quiet, and the view is fabulous. Three things that need improvement: snow and ice removal. I stepped out of my vehicle and onto ice in our parking spot, which was on a slope. It's a narrow spot, so nowhere else to put your foot. They use far far too much scented product in the laundry. If you're environmentally sensitive bring your own sheets and pillow cases. The kitchen is poorly equipped. In a two bedroom unit, which presumably sleeps four, there was one large fork and one dessert fork, same with spoons. Only slightly annoying but so easily fixed. Check in was easy but not secure if you're a nervous traveler.
Pretty good
The cottage was so lovely and cute and beds were very comfortable. We had an excelllent view and staff was super friendly. The only thing was that we were in a lower unit with people above us. Once the people above us checked in, we could hear absolute everything including their conversations and every footstep because the walls were so thin. We were woken up early by the floor creaking upstairs and the stomping. Wish we had a singular unit or an upstairs unit...
Great stay for Cabot trail ✌️
Comfortable, clean, private, great view.
Such quaint cottages and grounds. The staff were very sweet. The location on the Cabot Trail is perfect!
Good stay
Room was very clean but dinner service at the restaurant was very slow and most of the items on the menu were out of stock. Food was not good . I would recommend to stay but eat somewhere else
We had a great stay, very relaxing.
Beautiful spot! Restaurant was a pleasant surprise -- seafood and Chinese in the same place! Very nice staff and good food.
Everything is good except the toilet and bath are without any privacy. 所有设施都很好,床很舒服,但是厕所和浴缸没有任何遮挡物,上厕所非常尴尬。
The cabin was newer construction and was lovely in theory. It appears that the cabins are not being cleaned well or cared for as they should. There was a lot of dust on the floors and the ceiling fan, the sink drain was brown with crud, and the shower fan was falling out of the ceiling when we arrived. Paint was peeling off the walls in the bathroom and there was tissue pushed into the corner of the shower which I’m assuming was to plug a hole. The coffee machine also had old grounds inside and was badly stained, so I didn’t want to use it. It’s not all bad though, the linens are clean, the furniture is nice, and the patio and view are amazing. Just a bit more attention to detail with cleaning the cabin would go a long way.
The cabins were great. Ours was looking right over the water and we saw an eagle flying above us. Quiet, comfortable and beautiful.
Water front
We loved our stay at the Knotty Pines Cottages! My partner and I stayed in one of their motel rooms which was small in size but was very clean, the beds were comfortable, and it was a convenient location. They also have a small restaurant on site. We would definitely stay here again.
Beautiful location and view Loved the soaker tub with view
A bit dated cottages. Plus the folks who stayed the night before cooked some dinner and left a horrible smell
The room was beautiful, though having no walls to the bathroom was a bit odd and I wished it had been made clear. We often stepped outside whenever someone needed to use the restroom. It didn't bother us the bathtub being open to the room since it was a romantic trip...but having to be in the same room as your partner when they go to the bathroom is not super romantic and can kill the mood. The view was beautiful and the staff was lovely. We enjoyed our stay and would book here again.
Accommodations are lovely, well kept, and in a great location that’s easy to find with ample parking. Avoid the onsite “restaurant” at all costs!! Horrific service, mediocre food and WAY overpriced.
Good decent place to stay, however washroom was very ordinary
Rooms with a gorgeous view!
Our cottage was super clean and the view was amazing!
Beautiful view from private porch rustic knotty pine interior.a little bit dated kitchen with confusing plumbing.small restaurant. I give it a solid 1 thumb up rating 👍
There was no water
I really hate to give this property a low rating because it could be a wonderful place to stay if we had gotten a good nights sleep. It’s on the water, the people are really nice and it was super clean; however, it was so hot in our room that we had a miserable night. There was AC in the bedroom but it put out as much hot air as cool so we turned it off. On a better note, the little restaurant on premises has an excellent breakfast and a good cup of coffee.
We enjoyed our stay here. Beautiful view on back deck.
Didn't like the room. No privacy from toilet. Food was disgusting. Fridge in unit didn't work properly.
Very good place to stay. Real clean. Excellent room with great views.
Super cozy, loved the fireplace and the balcony overlooking the water. Brought everything we needed to bbq and they had a great bbq, clean and everything we needed to cook. Can't wait to come back!!
Great property and cottages. A nice, relaxing vacation spot
Very clean and the staff was great. We qill definitely be back.
Location it was great for us, just on Calbot Trail. Checking easy. The view from the cabin amazing. Beds ok, clean. Anything else I didn't like. Full of bugs and little dirty.
The unit we rented (9A) looked like an old fishing cabin inside complete with cobwebs everywhere. It was basically an old basement apartment. The newest thing inside was the TV. My family did not enjoy the stay, though the staff was friendly and helpful. Expected more for what we paid.
If you decide to stay here be sure you get one of the cottages on the water. I thought that is what I booked through Expedia but ended up in a unit under another that was essentially the basement. While it did have windows that looked at the water we were way above the shoreline. The unit was old and needed updating. The bed was comfortable. Shower and bathroom adequate. There was a rat trap outside the door to the unit. The area had limited dining options. The scenery is lovely but amenities lacking.
Cottages were very tired and run down. They needed a lot of work. Tv in the living room you could only watch from the kitchen table. Staff were friendly but places needs a lot of work.
Stunning sunset
Beautiful spot right on the Cabot Trail. Cute, rustic cabin for an overnight stay with private deck that overlooks the water. The beds could use an upgrade, though.
We enjoyed our stay.
Beautiful view from the cottage, staff was excellent (particularly David who was very accommodating). The only drawback was the people on the cottage above us whose kids kept stomping late in the night. I think the management should put it in policy to be mindful of other guests. It did not really matter to us as we were up quite late, but for ithers it may have been an issue. Overall, it was a good and worthwhile experience.
Our cabin was great, amazing view of the water with large windows and balcony. Very clean. Only complaint was restaurant service. Took 30 minutes just to get cup of plain coffee and another 30 minutes (total of 1 hour) to get eggs, toast, hash browns. The meal was cold except for warm hash browns. And we were the only customers!
Great service, convenient location and clean space
This was above and beyond our expectations. The cutest place to stay on the Cabot Trail im sure of it! In addition, it was so clean, had amazing views of the water and you can catch the most beautiful sunset from the properties little restaurant balcony. I will be coming back to Nova Scotia just to stay here again!
Functional lodging for one night's stay
Fine for one night, but I don't know about an extended stay. Stand-alone air conditioner unit took up a lot of floor space, and intake required window to be open-- which meant wet bedding when a little rainstorm blew in. Restaurant is small, and several things on the menu we're not available. Beautiful views from the room and restaurant windows.
Staying at this cottage was an interesting experience. The cottage is well-equipped with everything you need, including the ability to cook your own meals. The cozy decorations add a warm and pleasant touch to the atmosphere. From the outside, you can see the ocean, and the lower level is closer to the water, but families with young children aren’t allowed to stay there for safety reasons. A friendly tip: avoid booking Room 7. It’s the only room with another unit above it. The view is obstructed by trees, blocking the ocean view, and you won’t know who’s staying above you. In our case, the upstairs neighbors were dragging luggage and running around late into the night, which made it hard to get any rest.
Great location
They’re rustic cottages but the location was excellent with a great balcony with water views. Great way to end the day watching the sunset over the water.
10000% recommended, amazing!
It was absolutely amazing. 100% recommended, we will come back every time we come to Ingonish. Close to ecery attraction, warm beaches, beautiful views.
This property is beautiful and well located for exploring the area around Antigonish. Inside the room everything looks wonderful and the view from the cottage balcony is outstanding.. Only caution is for those who are mobility challenged. The bed is very high and difficult to get into (I'm 5"6'). The tub is also high sided and it was difficult to climb in and out.
Amazing place to stay and close to things in Ingonish! The cottage was perfect and the view was nice, highly recommend!
Bathroom sink has no stopper and either water or drain has odor. Bathroom VERY small. No where to hang or put HBA bag. Poor water flow in kitchen sink. Portable air conditioner leaked and sign on it says to empty bucket so it doesn't overflow onto the floor. It was very clean though, restaurant seafood was delicious and staff very accommodating, owner friendly and personable. Not sure I would stay in that cabin again. May try a new cabin.
We enjoyed our stay and we are looking forward to staying at this location again in the future !!
Beautiful views. Very nice staff and very nice owners. I highly recommend
Hidden gems. Must try. Cottage is very nice, well decorated and amazing view.
Great views of the ocean. Nice space. Loved the balcony and grill
View was amazing!!! Spacious cottage. Balcony. Very friendly receptionist
This is a lovely, rustic stay in a beautiful place. The staff were very friendly and helpful.
Good place to stay
Peaceful lake location.
Great position on the lake. The room could have been better renovated and arranged. Nice deck for an evening drink on the lake.
Amazing views and cottages!
Beautiful view from the deck.
The view is amazing but our cottage was really small for 2 people and restaurant was not open on Sunday.
What a view! Perfect spot for a couple, we had such a great time. Would absolutely recommend.
Overall good
The owner gave a very warm reception, assigned us an older room, and then upgraded us to one of the new cabins right on the waterfront. The room was meticulously clean. It included dishware and silverware, microwave, nice furniture, and sliding glass doors to a deck with small table and chairs as well as a grill. The bathroom was really new and clean, and they provided everything we needed. The TV was brand new, but we had some trouble getting it to work. After applying a YouTube video fix, all was well. We felt very safe there. We have recommended it to friends who are going to NS. We didn't stay for breakfast (not included in the price), but for those who eat meat and eggs it might be good. The one improvement we'd like to see is better stairs and railings between the parking spot and the door for those who aren't fully mobile and those who are physically challenged.
Nice and peaceful
Nice but needs an upgrade
Nice place but the chalets a little dated and the finishes are just ok. Oddly our chalet had an open toilet in the room which was very weird.
Older character property. Very picturesque. Disappointed lock on patio door was broken and kitchen light did not work. Great shower
Very nice clean, quiet, comfortable, and spacious accommodations. On site restaurant is awesome as well! Will definitely be back!
Property was very dated but clean.
Lovely cabin
A quiet place to stay while you are in Ingonish with an amazingly beautiful view! Very comfortable and convenient. Close to hiking trails. We loved our visit!
Room is private with private deck overlooking the harbor. Beautiful sunset. Room is cozy and romantic. Large soaking tub which was relaxing. No shower though but we didnt mind.
The view from our cabin was absolutely amazing. Being able to sit on the deck late into the evening and watch the sun go down was a very memorable experience. The unit is an older building so a little dated. It was nice having 2 bedrooms and also to have 2 queen beds in the one bedroom. On the negative side, cleanliness of the unit could certainly be improved. The TV remote was very sticky! (and we forgot to bring our own wipes). That sticky remote slipped between the couch cushions at one point and it was a very "crumby" experience retrieving it. And the extra blanket in the one bedroom needed a wash as it looked like pizza bits or spaghetti sauce was stuck to it. Also one of the 2 patio chairs we couldn't use as it was ripped. All of this was reported as we checked out so I'm hoping staff were able to attend to our concerns.
Just need another week here, that's all.
Only thing could have made it better was if I had known to bring steaks and seafood for the grill provided, and a couple bottles of wine, because the table was set for a romantic evening with wine glasses, and if we had had more time to stay there! Husband is not into this type of accommodations, and he fell in love with it! Best night of this our 33rd anniversary celebration trip. Evening just sitting, watching the water.
Very tiny rooms
I would hive it a 10/10 for how peaceful it was but nothing was was open for dini g
Nice & peaceful
As advertised great view great location clean and great reception
Overall a nice cute cottage stay, but I would book their other rooms or elsewhere. If you are a light sleeper, be mindful that this booking (Duplex #1A, or door #7 in photos) is the bottom unit of a cottage - you can hear footsteps and plumbing from the guests above. Water quality very questionable, had an the slightest slimy texture to it even after boiling it in a kettle. Unit had a living room, dining area and kitchen set up. Beautiful sunset on the harbour can be seen from windows in the common area.
Wonderful accommodation. Fabulous view, comfy bed. Lovely unit.
Ok visit. Very minimal water or water pressure coming out of the taps. Rustic accomodations.
Cute little cottages near nice small town. Not many amenities open when we were there, so be sure to come with groceries to cook! Owners were so kind and helpful.
Stayed in a cabin with a full kitchen. It had most everything we needed. Everything was small-ish, so we felt a bit cramped the whole time. Comfy bed, but could have used a bit more water pressure.
Great view. Had a lot of fun
There is very little opened in the area due to off season. However, the stay was enjoyable.
Nice view.
The view of the ocean and mountains
Cute cabin
These little cabins are very cute. The top row appear to be the original ones with the bottom row, closer to the water, appearing to be newer We grabbed an original one because it had a kitchen and bbq grill and aince it was off season and we werent sure about restaurants, we figured we'd cook. Good idea since the restaurant here was closed and whatnfew others there are were a bit of a drive. Check was easy, parked right in front of the unit. Cabin is rustic but clean and nicely decorated. The bathroom was small but functional, the bedroom was fine. Theres a living, dining area which was comfortable. The deck was great and we caught the last of the sun before it dropped behind the hills and wstched the water. It was quiet and weslept well. When we enquired about ice for our cooler to keep meds cold the next day, becaus3 the restaurant eas closed they had none so the lady brought us her own ice tray so we could make some overnight. Above and beyond service
the bed was comfy, the place clean, the view of the ocean beautiful.
Beautiful view of our back patio deck. And there fish and chips were awesome 😎
Very clean and quite place.
Very friendly, great service
t
It was fine thank you
very clean and quiet. friendly staff. Need a mat for the tub. verry slippery.
Noisy upstairs
I would have given more stars, but we were woken up just before 5:00 AM both days by someone loudly moving furniture around in the room just above us, which was next to the office. I don’t know why guests would be scraping furniture across the room and clunking and dropping things — my guess is that the room was being renovated, because I don’t think it was occupied. Otherwise, cute place, clean, spacious rooms, comfortable, decent price. Just be wary of downstairs rooms. No soundproofing, apparently.
The view of the water is exceptional. Loved that! Private balcony and right on the water.
Really beautiful little cabin with plenty of heaters for cold nights.
This is a lovely spot albeit away from many amenities has new flooring the bed does not have a box spring so it was a little like the old spring type support but still okay. It was clean and the staff very friendly. I would stay here again.
Beautiful location and view! Lower cottages where we stayed away from the highway on Cabot Trail, so very peaceful. Restaurant food was decent but nothing special. No liquor license so was quite empty. When we arrived they were unsure if the Restaurant would open that night.
Beautiful location. Place is just like the pictures. Large and spacious, comfortable bed. Wish I could have stayed longer.
The cabin had a beautiful view. Was well kept. Staff very helpful. Very clean. Enjoyed our stay.

This place was fantastic and the service from the staff was excellent. A perfect place to stay if skiing at Cape Smokey
