The best place to stay in Kampala. Beautiful safe the best breakfast in Uganda. I always love this place when I come here.
Very clean and excellent service. Will stay here in the future for sure.
Great
food was good, staff were very professional and helpful. Buffet was outstanding and the chefs were quite happy to explain the dishes and help me explore Ugandan food. The gym is well equipped.
Simply excellent place to stay
A lush oasis
Great location, beautiful grounds - a lush oasis in the middle of the city. Service excellent, especially in executive lounge. Food offering not brilliant but still good enough.
Beautiful and classy but please please change or update your pillows. Someone booking a good room means they want a good rest. It’s terrible when you can’t sleep because you can feel the age lumps in your pillows. Everything else was great!
The grounds and professional staff
Simply the best place to stay in Kampala
Beautiful Property
Great hotel and beautiful setting. My only issue was that the bed was not that comfortable so I had a bit of difficulty sleeping.
Aging and lack of maintenance. Services are sloth pace.
I like
Beautiful property
We loved it. But the pool area closes too early. And mosquitos kept on attacking me😀 Such a wonderful hotel should have a Michelin restaurant. To do so the Pearl restaurant should change the menu. When i heard the name - the Pearl restaurant i thought that they where serving lokal dishes from different plages in Uganda. This is a tip. Uganda has so much to offer. You could turn ugandas different lokal dishes in a unique and exclusive way. In the Wine champagne bar- cocktails should be with lokal ingredients and garnishing. Make seasonal cocktails. You could have gin & tonic Uganda waragi with tonic water. With Uganda waragi - you can make cocktails with different flavours like pineapple cocktail, mango cocktail, Uganda has rim and sweet wine - use it in cocktails.
This is a luxurious hotel, with beautiful grounds and pools. The Deluxe rooms are large and have everything you might need including a huge desk and a sitting area; the beds are very comfortable, and the bathroom has a bathtub and a shower. I loved the service provided by the staff at the Lakes Restaurant, especially Yona. In general, the staff were very professional and friendly. They made us feel welcomed. There is really nothing to dislike about Serena. My son loved our weekend here.
Someone kept banging on my door at early hours and I’m not sure why.
Great Hotel, staff very friendly and the room was clean
The hotel is extremely welcoming and has great facilities. Providing very comfortable rooms and excellent service.
The Kampala Serena has some of the most beautiful grounds in the city. The amenities were fantastic, and the service was exceptional. Can’t recommend enough.
Jacquie - United Kingdom
My stay @ Serena hotel kampala was incredible . The staff were amazing , from the manager James, right down to house keeping Emmanuel and crew , room service Arnold and crew , the restaurants, reception. The most outstanding staff I can remember was Jackie from room service ( Nothing was ever too much for her, Rosette from the restaurant always there to serve . Denis, Joyce, Moses both of them , Wilfred from Laundry, Ambrose and Wycliff @the entrance , the drivers . I can’t mention everyone . The services were Remarkable. Can’t wait to see them again.
Excellent food options. Nice pool, sauna, steam room. Very helpful staff. Comfortable room and amenities.
The location is excellent. Every aspect of the hotel is excellent- swimming pool and the gym, breakfast, service and so on.
Beautiful hotel
It was my first time to stay at the Serena and I must say it is the best hotel in Kampala by some distance. Excellent food and service all over the hotel. Having been involved in the terror attack at the DusutD2 in Kenya my only concern is the lack of top security, given the amount of westerners staying plus it is a regular host for Ugandan hierarchy. Sniffer dogs are a must and higher walls. There are 2 ineffective security checks and you can avoid the 2nd one by walking to the right of reception in to the restaurant.Worrying
Definitely give it a try, returning customer
Lovely stay, excellent service and staff accommodating. Food was beautiful!!
I had to wait for additional 3 hours (i arrived at 1500) to checkin (around 1800)but I understood as it was day after New Year. Staff attitude and professionalism did make up for the delayed checkin. Room was clean and bed was comfortable.
Excellent Rooms and Meals
The level of professionalism and excellence exhibited by every single staff at the Serena Hotel is impeccable. The breakfast and meals are unmatched. Superb Hotel!
Beautiful hotel
Beautiful property, great gift store. Breakfast is fabulous. My only complaint is my hotel room smelled like someone had smoked in it.
Excellent, recently renovated property in a central location! Great facilities and impeccable customer service - a staple for any business traveler.
Wonderful and hospitable staff!
Plenty of lush, calm spaces. Great lobby, bar and outdoor areas. Rooms are light and airy. Service with a smile. Would recommend!
Best place to stay in Kampala
Absolutely Stunning Hotel! Great food, rooms, gym, and spa! The staff members make you feel important and safe at all times! Special shout out to Alex at the front desk, and Michael & Rogers from the concierge who ensured I had the best possible itinerary possible!
Favorite place in Kampala
I have stayed here multiple times. The hotel is very nice and there are multiple good food options. There are also multiple places to go instead of my room where I can work which is nice.
The Kampala Serena Hotel is situated in central Kampala close to all the major businesses. Though it is hard to get into Kampala due to the traffic the hotel itself is an oasis of green with good facilities, restaurants, large walkable gardens and well appointed rooms. I highly recommend this hotel if in Kampala.
The friendly staff really stands out, from cleaning to restaurants. The rooms are beautiful. The gardens are lush. The only negative is the quality of dishes (especially salads). I did really enjoy the local dish: chicken nut (chickenat). They could have more local options in fact!
Good accommodation but overrated restaurant
Good hotel although we were disappoibted with restaurant (over priced and medium quality), we complained about quality but received only polite apologies...
I recommennd this hotel to everyone
It is a very nice location for business and relaxing
The rooms was spotless, the spa was fantastic. Great service from everyone except the woman who checked me out. She was grumpy and borderline rude, too bad as it lest a sour taste in my mouth after an otherwise pleasant stay.
This is not just a beatiful hotel. It has all the amenities one could want away from home and a friendly, courteous, helpful staff, ready to serve with a smile.
Beautiful and modern hotel with great service. Complimentary bottle of wine was a pleasant surprise.
Excellent Hotel
A very well appointed Hotel conveniently situated in Kampala.Well trained staff, friendly and courteous.Excellent facilities, spacious, well appointed rooms. Has the local country feel with international standards.

I stayed there for business and it was nice to be in. Kampala hotel where everything was top class with a beautiful and serene setting.
AWESOME HOTEL!!
Beautiful hotel, great staff. I came on my break between being deployed, I would definitely come back. The staff were friendly beautiful people, lovely hotel. Nice bathtub in the room, I am all about the relaxation, stay here if you have a chance!!
Super stay
Absolutely fantastic. Staff friendly, room comfortable and modern, food and service is excellent. The gym is world class. The overall property is fantastic.
Wonderful
had a great stay at the Serena only problem was work going on in the spa prevented one from using the showers but the service was top notch!
Comfortable hotel
I really enjoyed my stay here. The staff were friendly and welcoming and the room was very comfortable. It was modern yet stylishly furnished in warm colours and small conveniences like a corner desk that I found very useful. The swimming pool was beautiful - unheated so don't go too early in the morning! And the breakfast was generous and very good. I would definitely want to return here again.
Comfort and style
Very well presented establishment with an old fashioned approach to service - very happy with my stay

Serena Stay
It was very peaceful and the staff was very attentive
Great location, service, restaurants and breakfast buffet
Our Stay at the Serena Hotel
Excellent hotel, very helpful and professional staff, good food and bar facilities, except for the coffee which was awful. Very clean and comfortable rooms in good condition, great bathroom. No serious complaints just a couple of observations, the hot water took an age to arrive we timed five minutes with all taps on which is not really environmentally friendly of energy efficient and is frustrating when you want a quick shower also some quirky light switching arrangements which do not make sense and must be incorrect i.e. the light switches near your side of the bed operated lights on the other side? Overall we really enjoyed our stay and would stay again without hesitation.
Clean, well maintained, excellent staff
I think this is one of my best Hotel services experience. I enjoyed my stay very much
One of the top 10 hotels in Africa
One of the top 10 hotels in Africa. A colonial oasis in the heart of Kampala.
Beautiful hotel
My stay was amazing as always. The friendly staff make your stay as comfortable and pleasant as they possibly can
Best place to stay
No complaints. Great check in and room service. Food is delicious.Complimentary fruit, snacks and bottle of wine on arrival. Customer service is impeccable. Will definitely be staying here again.
relaxing hotel in the middle of kampala
Great hotel, wonderful spa! The Serena has an Elemis spa, one of the only ones on the continent. The therapists were well trained and the treatments extremely well priced. The poo was also a nice oasis in a rather hectic city. The property had 5 different eating areas (similar menus) but decent food and drink.
Lives up the reputation of No.1 in Kampala
Was disappointed with Expedia not taking my instructions seriously that I require everything to be billed to the hotel at the end of the stay, including the hotel nights. To ensure transparency in the room rate at the point of payment with the hotel.
Very nice clean and one of the best hotels.
The hotel is like an oasis you don't feel like going out.so peaceful ,Excellent and friendly staff. Probably the best hotel in Kampala.I sure will return to this hotel..
The best hotel in Kampala
Great Hotel... Looking forward to coming back soon.
Nice hotel, Very helpful staff and concierge.
Nice hotel, excellent facilities, restaurant food not quite as good as expected.
Great stay in Kampala
Beautiful hotel with excellent service and good food. A very comfortable place to spend a week on business.
Another break for us at the Serena.
We love the Serena. It must be our 3rd or 4th stay there now. We always feel that we will never be let down or disappointed there, because it is all so peaceful (or serene!) and we never fail to relax. As always, we entertained guests with whom we shared good food and conversation. One of the friends who stayed with us was able to conduct a short, informal business meeting before breakfast. The staff are friendly and flexible. personable and attentive to our needs. in all our travelling, we have seen all sorts of world standard hotels and, for us, this rates as top-notch. Every facility is great and we just love everything about the Serena.
Nice hotel, poor service
This hotel is very nice. However, I can't give it a very good review as they put me in a smoking room and then wouldn't move me. It was vile.
Only one word: excellent. Bravo!
Nice hotel, good stay.
I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of this hotel. There were multiple pools for swimming laps, the gym was huge and had many fully functional treadmills as well other equipment. The surrounding neighborhood was nice with plenty of shops.
Excellent base for doing business in Kampala
An excellent choice for all aspects of a visit on business or to enjoy everything as a tourist Kampala has to offer. I have stayed before and will choose this hotel again on future visits !!
Amazingly friendly service
An amazing working weekend. Many thanks for making so good
Had some issues with the lighting in the room and takes forever for the water to warm but overall an excellent place to stay! The staff is amazing in every way!!I I will book again with Serena on my next trip to Uganda.
