Loved the hotel , the workers were very helpful and did things in a timely order. Ebony was the first person to meet me and she was very nice, helpful, informative, and had a wonderful personality and attitude. I will definitely be back
Ok
Very pleased. Coffee maker in the room would have been nice.
No one too check you in! Arrived, manger of house cleaning had to check ppl in via FaceTime with an employee that was familiar with the process. Rooms dirty, dated. Does not look like pictures online. Go to the Aloft same price
I only spent a night but I wish I could’ve stayed more days I am honestly a happy traveler because I thought it was skeptical at first but pleaseeeee if You get a chance go check this hotel out and Also I want to give a big shout out to Ebony for Excellent hospitality Woop Woop Made me feel like I was at home
It was within walking distance of Beale Street!
Great staff. Friendly very helpful.
Friendly staff, accommodating and helpful. Love the large room we had and walkable distance to shopping and local restaurants.
Great stay!
Great hotel! Cool, stylish, art deco-esque rooms, great front desk staff and the rooftop patio provides an amazing view of the river, especially at sunset. It was much better priced than other hotels within a block away that I also stayed at and found to be disappointing and poor value. Wished i had stayed at HU the whole time i was in Memphis. Highly recommend
The hotel was clean, however the carpets in the hallway as well as in the rooms look very old and dated. The room was sparsely decorated. The breakfast Buffett was not appealing.
I didn’t like how old and ruin down the furniture looks, ask for river view and which room it was, and it wasn’t the right room! No microwave in the suite. I find that weird bc it’s a suite!!!! Wasn’t pleased with my stay!!!
Wonderful Stay
The accommodations were excellent and every single staff member was very helpful and friendly! Would stay here again.
I did not stay at the Hu so I can not rate it but I was charged over $170.00
Excellent location
Nice hotel close to everything I really enjoyed myself. Great staff
Friendly staff. Great location. Convenient parking garage. Overall I felt safe leaving & coming from hotel. Hotel room was clean & quiet. The rooftop bar was nice.
Great location, rooftop bar and view was nice but limited hours. Parking was ok but for a price
The parking is a decent price for downtown Memphis. The front desk workers and housekeepers were also very kind.
Friendly front desk and clean room
Glad to come back here!
I really enjoyed it, especially going to the rooftop bar and migueling with some of the people up there. The lady who checked me in was nice.It was just nice overall
Hidden gem in memphis. great hotel
Just say no
Room was not ready at check in time. Parking was provided across the street in a parking garage for a fee. However, the front desk did not put my license plate/vehicle into their computer system, so upon check out there was a boot on my tire THAT I HAD TO PAY $50 TO HAVE IT REMOVED!!! Went back to front desk, and they did credit the money to my account, but I had to wait 30 minutes to have someone come and remove the boot. Was told this occurred frequently with this hotel.
Nice room. Didn’t have the room we booked though, but got an upgrade.
I really enjoyed my stay at the Hu. I'll definitely be back and will recommend it to others.
Great location in Memphis and nice facility with helpful staff; however, they ran out of breakfast food very early and also closed the rooftop bar early without warning.
A keeper
We loved it. Close to everything we wanted to see and do.
No parking on premises
Parking was not on the premises as stated. No coffee maker or microwave was in the room.
It was Downtown Memphis
The staff was so friendly. We were there for my son to run in the St. Jude’s Marathon. The staff wished him well and asked him how he did after it was over. They congratulated him for a job well done.
Great place to stay -walking distance to Beale St
Great location, comfy bed and pillow, and clean. Good hot breakfast too!
Perfect place to stay for the St. Jude Marathon weekend.
Great staff!
Comfortable and Clean
The staff was wonderful! They were very friendly and helpful. Our room was clean. The bed was high off the ground so it did make getting into a challenge. But the bed was comfortable. We have stayed here before and would stay here again.
Not helpful staff, not even extra soap. Bar staff rude. Confusing parking. Dirty outside
I usually enjoy staying at this property, but my experience this time was quite different. The elevators had a strong smell of marijuana, and when I visited the rooftop, it felt more like a fire hazard. Due to the cold weather, everyone was inside, which is understandable, but the presence of a DJ and the lack of crowd control turned the rooftop into a small club atmosphere. Even when I went outside to the roof, there were individuals smoking marijuana. Additionally, there was only one bartender available on the rooftop, and there was no manager or security in sight.
Overall, this is probably one of the better places to stay in Memphis!
Staff was very friendly & helpful, breakfast was great, carpet needs cleaning! But overall comfortable! Good place to stay!
The hotel was nice and the staff was very friendly but they didn’t have any keys which wasn’t a huge deal because we were just there to sleep and leave the next morning. But they didn’t have any water anywhere to buy, not a vending machine or pantry so we had to DoorDash some. The area was very noisy and clearly not safe which is why we opted for DoorDash and not going back out for water. We won’t be staying there again when we come back through town.
My room was very nice and I love the early check in
It’s a good option if you want to stay in the downtown.
The stay was great ! We loved our room it was super cute and very comfortable. Check in was easy, parking was $22 and across the street. Memphis Id know to have lots of homelessness and crime, but we felt fine in the hotel. Would stay again! The rooftop bar had great views and good drink specials !
Great will book again
We really enjoyed the style of the place, from lobby to room. Lighting could be better in the room. If your neighbors are chatty, you'll hear them unless the fan is running. Only actual complaint is the shower design. It only has a glass half door on one end of the tub, so the warm air immediately escapes, and water splashes off of you and onto the floor/wall. Otherwise, it was stylish, clean, fairly quiet, and slept well.
Good: Cute and clean. Not good: Advertised gym/fitness room but it’s across the street and closed on Sundays (didn’t know ahead of time). Breakfast $15/pp leaves MUCH to be desired. No ice anywhere except at the bar and not much staffing. Rooftop bar closed earlier than advertised (or never opened at all).
Had a great experience here.
Great place to stay
!
Unique boutique hotel
Wonderful hotel with rooftop bar! Great experience.
It was a great stay. Room was nice and clean. Staff friendly. Only thing that could have been better is a coffee pot in the room but there is coffee for purchase downstairs.
I loved the hotel
Beautiful property
Very nice staff.
Unfortunately there were a lot of maintenance and cleaning issues during our stay. There was a pile of leftover close from a previous guest. The cleaning people never came by once in during the 4 night stay. We got one roll of toilet paper for 2 people for 5 days and one mini use shampoo and conditioner. Our toilet was running for the first few days than broke, after we alerted the staff they didn’t fix it, we had to remind them and they sent someone while we were getting ready for dinner, instead of when we were out of the room for 6 hours, they were told when we were gone and knew we were back. We asked for more toilet paper and never got it. The bathroom bulb was out and not replaced when we asked. The toilet paper holder was broken so the toilet paper kept falling on the ground, making it not very sanitary to use. The only public bathroom to use while ours wasn’t working didn’t have a lock… the rooftop bar and lounge wasn’t open during the advertised hours, without any notice and the one time it was open during our stay they were hosting a private party.
Great location
The night manager was super friendly and nice. The fact that there was only on street parking or have to pay for parking in the parking garage I felt like was ridiculous that is not included in the stay.
Staff were very helpful and friendly.
Very walkable to local attractions
I stayed 3 nights and had no issues. I used the gym as well which was a real gym, not traditional hotel gym which was a plus.
Great downtown location. Older building but very clean. I would definitely stay at The HU again.
Everything was wonderful! Best stay yet.
The property overbooked itself and canceled our reservation which was already fully paid with 4 days’ notice, forcing us to book a more expensive hotel for accommodation. I’ve never experienced anything like this on Expedia previously but they helped us get our money back. In saying that we were still over $200 out of pocket for the alternative hotel.
Hotel feels like it has lacked recent investment. Generally clean. Roof top bar a highlight.
No vending machine with juice and sodas.
Very laid back, non-intrusive vibe. Beautiful sunset view from rooftop bar.
Had a fantastic stay. Two nights with zero problems. Very quiet and clean room. Will be coming back.
Left in the middle of our last night after being woken up 2 times for false fire alarms. Stayed on the 15 floor, so stairs were difficult during this time. Not much nice to say other than front desk was nice.
The room smelled horrible. we had to buy lysol to spray daily. The rooms are run down and old. Also very noisy at night time.
I like the hotel and the staff. It’s just that the sink was not draining very well and there was no extra roll of toilet paper in the bathroom. But generally, I would like to stay there again & next time inform front desk of problems.
Ok, Not great
The staff was nice but the hotel is dated. Parking is at a garage not attached so you need to unload in front which can be hectic and hard to go back to your car quickly. It was pet friendly but the fee is $75 which is higher than most.
Best price for location
I really liked how I could walk along Main Street from this hotel and I was lucky enough to find street parking right in front. I only had to pay the meter once when I arrived until 6 PM on a Friday night and then again Saturday morning at 8 AM.
Ok if you can't find anything else
Ok hotel but very rundown. The furniture was showing signs of age. The breakfast was not worth it.
Tty
Love the vibe of Hu Hotel and enjoyed the view at the rooftop bar!
Hu is a fun hotel. The staff is so kind.
Staff
First what we didnt like. Our room and we found out others had same issue we had no towels, soap or toilet paper in our room. We called the desk 3 times and finally had to go down and wait to get these supplies. Only one of two elevators were working and at one point we waited over 15mins for a elevator. Parking was not included and cost $22/day. What we did like. Room layout was great. We were on 16th floor and had a amazing view of the mississippi river. The roof top bar was great and happy hour had cheap drinks. Although the menu had food on it we were unable to order food as they did not have a chef. Overall a good stay and would recommend Front staff were friendly and always had a smile
Friendly and helpful staff. Great location. I will use them again. Sam’s on Main is a nice breakfast diner around the corner with good coffee.
This was my "self care" getaway. It was the perfect place for this! The aesthetic was Vintage Hollywood Glam and it all felt so right.
Clean but toilet didn’t flush & sink didn’t drain well
Loved the place. Everything was great
Nice downtown hotel for the money. Rooftop bar nice with great views and reasonable prices. Breakfast costs extra but is very good. Parking is extra. Reasonable walking distance to Beale St., restaurants and museums
Great roof top bar- happy hour there is great the views are spectacular. Close to everything $10 parking (ask the front desk) - super convenient and very nice
I love the vibe here . The roof top was amazing watching the sunset . The only thing I didn’t like was I wish they would have been more clear about the parking. I thought they said parking was included and stay. I just needed to give them my license plate number so I gave them my license plate number then a couple weeks later I received $100 in the mail for parking, but overall, it’s a wonderful place and I’ve been looking for a reason to stay there again. My daughter and I were doing a staycation here in the city this summer and we had a great time.
Pros and Cons
Hu was great. It was clean, well staffed and everyone was friendly. My only issue was parking. There's no heads up that there isn't parking. When i caked and asked, after circling the block, and asked i was told to Park in front on the street until I unload my stuff and check in. The problem was there was NO available parking on the street so I went and ahead and parked across the street in a parking garage. Only to later find out that's where the parking is but i didn't get the discounted parking because I wasn't made aware of it until it was too late.
The beds were hard as a rock, the elevator door would keep opening and closing prolonging the ride. My room wasn't thoroughly cleaned- shower still had soap scum, table was covered in grease. Bathtub wouldnt retain water.
The hotel was very clean. The bed was very comfortable! The hotel provided free tea and coffee in the lobby which was a great perk. The hotel recommends parking at a certain garage which cost $22 tax but I would recommend parking at a different garage (Brinkley Plaza Garage, 20 S Front St) only $10 all day! Parked overnight with no issues and was only a 2 minute walk to the hotel. Otherwise the hotel staff were very kind and friendly. Great stay, would love to return if I am ever back in Memphis!
Overcharged me and didn’t return the full 150 holding fee , towels were stained , room speaker didn’t work. The king jr Suite doesn’t have a microwave.
We travel a lot and this was one of the nicest hotel rooms we have ever stayed in.
Average hotel
Great stay 👍
JUST DON'T.
The hotel staff was very friendly, but the hotel itself is worn and in bad shape. There simply is no room cleaning. You have to ask for ice or fresh towels. The location is great though; it is very near all the attractions in downtown Memphis. I WOULDN'T STAY HERE AGAIN.
Everything was good. Staff was nice
Hotel really nice. I had booked a room with double beds but was told they overbooked so ended up having to just get a room with King size which was fine. The view was so pretty, we were right by the water. I don’t really like that parking isn’t onsite. The garage and another garage isn’t far but the area isn’t the best (large homeless population / seemed to have some sketchy people around) and it isn’t the best idea for a woman to be walking through and alley to the hotel at night. Also the garages make you pay, the one that is owned by the hotel is like $25 per vehicle, while the other one owned by the other hotel is only about $10 for 24hrs
The room was small, but it was clean. Parking was a nightmare, but that’s not the hotel’s fault. The staff was nice.
Every thing was great
Love love loved it. It was so peaceful and quiet and the view was just perfect
This place was dirty spot all over the floors . People around the hotel had bad vibes. Don’t bring your kids to this place !!
Hu roof great views. Rooms and public area clean, just need touch up maintenence. (Elevators not closing regularly) hallways old carpet. Rooms are clean and ambience nice.
NA
Convenient and clean

The staff here were SOOO friendly! I stayed here alone and never felt more safe. Each receptionist I encountered during my stay were women which made me feel extremely comfortable. As for the room, I would say it is a bit outdated but for a weekend trip, I had 0 complaints. I would definitely stay here again for another quick trip to Memphis!
