The property was more a hostel than a hotel. There was no phone in the room and the staff wouldn’t make reservations for dinner for its guests. The staff was unhelpful. The hotel charged for bottled drinking water that was in the room.
Simply wonderful
This was my first hotel in Kyoto, and it was fantastic. The rooms were great, the staff were nice and they offered a lot of great services as well. Its located at a very good place too.
Amazing hospitality from the staff. We loved the spacious rooms and amenities. Bed was comfortable and room was lovely. Our only complaint is the pajamas smelled unwashed. We couldn't use them because of the sweaty smell. We tried multiple pairs but they all smelled the same. Maybe someone forgot to add detergent when washing them. Also, a male staff member walked into our room at 11:10 am on the checkout date (I think they thought we had left and wanted to clean the room?), but we had requested late checkout.
Great location!
Basic
Check in any restaurant staff weren’t that friendly, staff seemed cold and without enthusiasm. 10 mins walk out to numerous restaurants. Not recommended for the price.
Perfect transportation hub
Hotel Wing at Sanjo is not luxury - we didn't want luxury. The hotel met our needs for a comfortable room, a reasonable breakfast, but the best thing was the convenient access to transportation. It is just a three minute walk to major train, subway, and bus lines. As a result we were able to travel to virtually every site within 30 minutes or so. Next time we visit Kyoto, we will be staying here.
Friendly staff and good size room
A pleasant stay in Kyoto
Our stay was very pleasant. The subway/ Keihan train line is at a short distance. There are restaurants close by and sites to visit at a moderate walking distance. The hotel provides information on the subway, neighborhood restaurants and close by sites to visit. The breakfast is good and offers European and Japanese choices. The room and the restroom areas are spacious. The laundry room offers four washing machines and dryers each at a reasonable cost. It is a good hotel to stay with a family with kids of all ages. We were surprised to see few couples with kids under one year old.
This was my favorite hotel that we stayed at during our trip to Japan. If you’re looking for something in a quiet area, but still very convenient, Hotel Wing is the place. Our room was surprisingly large. The room and property were very clean. Staff was extremely friendly and helpful. I will definitely stay here again when I come back to Kyoto.
We love our short stay. The staff are helpful. The property is ok all together.
Hotel was very nice and we enjoyed the complimentary drinks. The tv system was a little outdated and it would have been nice to access YouTube or services after a long day of walking around the city and temples. Would recommend this hotel!
Everything was really great except for 2 things. 1. Cleaning was every 3 days, even emptying garbage bins. 2. There was some smell in the room when you walk in. Of course, you get used too it after 10 mins, but it wasn't pleasant. Other things were at the expected levels. Very friendly and willing to help people, quite clean, great breakfast.
Really liked the boutique vibe of the hotel- no frills but stylish, simple and almost minimalist. Reasonable price too, though it would be great if the breakfast menu varies some
Great location. Walking distance to Sanjo station and many bus stops. Lots of convenience stores nearby too. The staff at the hotel are great, always willing to help. The cleanliness of the hotel was not great. Lots of dust in the room and there were stains on the walls near the rubbish bin and bathroom. When our room was cleaned the bathroom was not swept. The rooms are cleaned every 3 days, towels changed daily. Beds and pillows very comfy. Laundry is great with 4 washers and 4 dryers. A great app on their TV menu which tells you which machines are available and which are in use.
A great hotel in Kyoto
We loved this hotel - it was huge compared to our hotel in Osaka. It was convenient for shops, restaurants, attractions and very close to the metro. The staff were very pleasant and helpful
Very nice hotel… breakfast was amazing
I enjoyed the overall design and feel of the hotel, but felt somethings were outdated or required maintenance. I felt that there was too much humidity in our room, to the point that the bathroom had a smell similar to mildew. The hotel provides humidity devices to use, i just personally feel like this shouldn't have been an issue in the first place. The hotel is also a little removed from some of the attractions, but to the point that it makes the surrounding area more quite and peaceful, not inconvenient. We were very close to Kiyamachi-Dori, Heian Shrine, and Yasaka Shrine, with all other attractions being a train or bus away. Apart from this, the hotel was comfortable with a nice breakfast and staff, and as a bonus there was an amazing parfait place open late right around the corner called Yonayona. I would definitely consider staying here again.
First of 2 Kyoto stays.
Very nice little hotel. With huge rooms by Japanese standards. Good facilities to wash your clothes and lots of other things available on request if needed. Bathroom was nice as was the bath itself. In the Gion area but not right in the heart of it. A bit of a walk to the bar area and older part of town. But still a nice hotel. Staff were friendly and a quiet place too.
Little further from Nishiki market but everything else was perfect. Breakfast is a must try.
Close to train and just outside of the busy tourist area. Quiet.
Great room and bathroom
This hotel is just a short walk from the main downtown shopping streets. I was a bit put off at first by the untidy Libby and very messy reception desk (desk far too small and crammed with junk) but the room more than compensated. This was our fifth hotel of this trip with rooms required for three people and whereas other hotels crammed an extra bed into a room clearly meant for two this room had three beds and lots of circulation room. The bathroom was also great with three parts - a toilet compartment with built in sink, a separate sink area and a separate room with a traditional sitting shower and soaking tub. More than satisfies for the cost and a good location
Wing Kyoto is a great hotel. Close to downtown and the temple district and right next to the subway station. We loved it.
Regular staff will not assist in helping to secure a taxi, but head manager will do so if you are looking for an airport taxi. It took her only 3 minutes, whereas regular staff are willing to spend 20 minutes downloading the taxi app to avoid doing so but won't lift the phone to assist in a 3 minute call. Terrible customer support. There is a sign on the desk that says staff will not do this, but the head manager will. They need to change this 'policy'. Based on this, I gave it a 2 star rating, as the manager assisted me twice to get an airport taxi. I had stayed there for 12 days but will not stay there for future visits. 3 other local hotels will assist with taxis, so I will stay at another hotel for future visits.
Amazing hotel in Amazing City
Convenient location to restaurants and shopping. Staff friendly and helpful.
Great little hotel in a perfect location.
Great location. Staff so friendly. Convenient and well provisioned hotel Everything you need in a simple way package. Laundry facility was excellent and could check usage on the TV to save multiple trips if busy. Breakfast was fine Free drinks 1200h to 2200h was useful. The lounge wear was handy when doing washing.
We stayed 2 nights. We loved this hotel. Our room was very big and the bathroom had a shower and a bathtub. On the reception area there are plenty of free items like toothbrushes, toothpaste, even beauty creams, not to mention a variety of teas and coffees. There is also a complimentary beverages machine in the restaurant area for the guests. Very well located, walkable to many touristic places and the train station, many restaurants and convenient stores nearby. One of my favorite hotels in Japan, highly recommended. We had an amazing stay.
Excellent accommodations, service, and value.
This is a great location, close to several transportation options. Lots of things to do within walking distance including Family mart, a grocery store, little shops and some amazing little cafes of various ilk. We used this as our launch pad for a week in Kyoto. It was amazing! We would definitely stay here again!
A hidden gem
A convenient choice for our stay in Kyoto. Located a short distance from plenty of transport, restaurants and shopping. Staff were helpful and friendly. Breakfast was convenient and had a nice selection of options available. Room was very spacious and comfortable
Great location, clean, nice, quite, friendly staff
It was a quiet area
Great comfortable stay
This was our favorite hotel we stayed at in Japan. Great comfortable beds, great location and breakfast buffet was acceptable. Nice amenities and even nicer staff.
Decent enough
It was good for the price you are paying. The breakfast quality was very average so if you dont have to, i recommend walking to another place (this is for both their western breakfast and Japanese breakfast). The room was tiny but that is the standard in Japan. The staff are nice but limited English.
Perfect location very calm neighborhood.
Great location one block from a temple that by the way is not crowded, walking distance to a lot of restaurants and Yasaka, as well as 2 blocks from subway station, very calmed area during the night, and my room was not as small as the ones in Tokyo, breakfast was ok but probably if you are planning to depart early to visit places take it somewhere else.
Gorgeous hotel. Spacious for Japanese standards. Very quiet and central to bus and train. Clean. Staff very polite
The room was small with fewer amenities.
Fine property. Very comfortable beds.
It is new and well maintained with very good amenities.
We had a great stay at the Wing hotel. The room was very good size with nice (also good size) comfortable beds and even a coffee table and a couple of armchairs. Outside the view was pleasant, with the city of Kyoto and a temple. Downstairs in the hotel there were free drinks, like coffee, lattes and teas, and also face creams, cleansers and loungeware. The hotel also has laundry facilities, which came handy. The location is great, too: close to stores, restaurants and Gion;) Excellent value!

Definitely a 5* hotel
It is a wonderful hotel, not 3*, but 5*. The area is beautiful and quiet, which is what you need in a big city. The room was spacious and spotlessly clean.
Very convenient location near Sanjo Keihan station, but also walkable. Close to both Gion and the Philosphers Path. Fairly large rooms and bathroom. Body care amenities were top notch!
A good location, quiet. Staff will not assist in making any taxi or restaurant reservations (many higher end restaurants only accept reservations by phone in Japanese so this is a big barrier).
I loved everything about this hotel. Close to absolutely everything from shops, restaurants & to stations this is an amazing location. Will stay here again!
HIGHLY RECOMMEND this hotel. It has absolutely everything & close to all the shops, restaurants & stations. Will stay here again!!
Small and cozy, some slippers were dirty but other than that a very nice stay!
Modern, spacious rooms
Great location! Nice hotel!
Staying only one nigh but very comfortable hotel.
great location and friendly staff
Excellent location. The bed was in the harder side, but the shower was amazing. I would recommend get an option with the breakfast. Delicious and a lot of good options. Very convenient to get some food at 7 am when everything is closed and you are ready to start your day.
This is a newly constructed property in the older part of Kyoto: not right in the anthill of the busiest tourist area, but comfortably walkable everywhere, including several enormous temple complexes off the beaten path. Within spitting distance of Kyoto museum. Being new, it’s comfortable, compelling, the staff are incredible, and the breakfast buffet out of this world.
I like how close it is to the train station
Great stay in Kyoto. Walking distance to convenient stores. Free drinks including coffee available after breakfast hours. Had a decent breakfast buffet option.
It was just a lovely clean hotel with very good location. Will definitely comeback next time to Kyoto.
Location outstanding for anyone who can walk 10-15 minutes to the restaurant area to the west across te Kamo River and both sides of the little canal-like Takase "River" that flows parallel to its west. Longer walking distance to many tourist attractions--parked and famous temples. And sake breweries! (Kyoto is a destination city for domestic Japanese tourism and regional East Asian..) Disappointing was the "restaurant" that serves only snacks and a single curry after the excellent breakfast. Could be that with so many inviting eating places nearby its guests scattered,
Nice clean hotel, nice spacious room & goog location.
I liked the size of the room, it was larger than most rooms in Japan. Subway station is a short walk and so is the Daily convenience store.
Great place to stay
Beautiful place location and breakfast best in hotels stayed in fresh and good variety great bathroom set up like and onsen will certainly stay here again very roomy and worth the king room as view is amazing kn top floors
Had a great experience with this hotel. Staff spoke great English and helped us with taxis in the morning. We were in a great location to see as much as we could while we stayed in Kyoto. Would definitely recommend this hotel.
Was charged more than my reservation amount when paying at hotel option
Quiet and comfortable. Good to have coin laundery
Well located. Great breakfast! Very nice staff. Comfortable
Only complaint was no cereal option for breakfast. Enjoyed our stay.
The shower was amazingly clean and we really enjoyed it. The hotel was well kept and they hung new towels on each door every morning. Would stay here again.
Comfortable rooms. Great location with easy access to the subways. Lots of excellant dining options closeby. Great place to stay.
Staff was super accommodative, and was very helpful with our questions. Room was extra clean and comfy. This is the hotel we will be staying at again next time we are in Kyoto.
Great Stay
Everything was very good, hotel and staff was great
I totally recommend this hotel, the facilities are super clean and the room is spacious. The staff is friendly
Wonderful Stay
We are a family of 3 and loved our stay here! We had beautiful mountain views and it's in a nice, quiet area. We felt very safe. We could walk to the temples but also to the market, restaurants and shops. The refreshment area that's open daily was a nice touch as there was always juice, coffee and other hot and cold drinks available. Although there was no storage for luggage, we didn't find it too cumbersome, even with 3 suitcases. We loved our stay here and would highly recommend it to others!
.
Cleanliness is good. Convenient location. Room is a bit small, no walldrobe, storage space is lacking.
Excellent Choice in Kyoto!
As a mom with twin eight-year-olds, we could not have been more impressed with our stay at Hotel Wing International! The staff greeted us promptly in English and took our luggage while we explored Kyoto. When we arrived back in the afternoon, they had taken the luggage up to our room, which was spotless and had three comfortable beds. Being allergic to down feathers, the hotel graciously accommodated our needs and replaced the linens prior to our arrival. There was a soft drink bar free of charge in the afternoon and evening, plus excellent wifi. The staff was exceptionally kind and even watched our suitcases on the day we checked out so we could continue exploring. The hotel was less than a five minute walk to the local train station and was in a very quiet part of town. We highly recommend this hotel, and we would definitely stay here again!
Great hotel. Nice and clean. Breakfast is yummy. Walking distance to the Kiyomizu-dera.
clean and comfertable
Hotel was clean. Comfortable bed and very nice bathroom. It is 10 mins walk away from Yasaka shrine. Bus stops and railway stations are close by. They have taken a more sustainable route, which means they do not clean the room for 3 days unless we request them to, there are no complimentary water bottles. They have a drink bar accessible to guest from 12pm to 10pm. This is just an information for any English speaking folks out there, not a complaint - not all front desk staff speak English, but they go extra to help you out the best they can. Thank you for doing that. We appreciate your effort to accommodate non Japanese speaking guests.
Great location and breakfast buffet was great.
Location and rooms
Good service, Nice rooms, quiet and spacious, Excellent location for visiting much of historic Kyoto. On the north edge of the Gion District. Short walk to a bus stop that has easy connections. They have good breakfast options. We opted to have a western style breakfast at a nearby restaurant instead.
One of the nicest hotel we stayed at in Japan. This hotel was perfectly located off the main road but still centrally located. Very quiet hotel an easy to head off in any direction. My wife loved all the free women’s facial products left for her taking. Happy wife happy life!
Very convenient location!
Good size room in a comfortable location. Comfortable bed and good amenities
Very clean hotel with friendly and helpful staff!! Would stay here again!
It was so good, we extended our stay. Highly recommended!
It was clean, spacious and the location is great. I enjoyed our stay. Thank you.
Close to the main city
Convenient location just a few minutes walk to the subway station, Gion and Kawaramachi area. Very cosy property with full amenities.
Perfect
We really enjoy our stay, everything was perfect. Location is quiet, still convenient for restaurants, sightseeing and subway. The premium room was great. If I had to find one thing to improve, that would be communication: the hotel never answered messages we sent before we arrived.
Fine but not great
It is a fine hotel in a decent location but there is nothing special about it. It is not "premium", indeed it looks like they are looking for ways to cut corners--infrequent cleaning, no amenities in the room (you pick them up at reception), and the breakfast is lame for the price. The breakfast is not well stocked and seems perpetually half empty even when they're not busy. Overall there is nothing really wrong with the hotel, it just seems skimpy.
Good location, friendly and helpful staff, big size room and bathroom. Separate toilet. Good for families.
Fantastic hotel! Super clean, new, comfortable, and well located right by the subway and historic sites. 10 out of 10!
This hotel is very clean and quiet, and in walking distance to many attractions. The staff is attentive, and the breakfast buffet is actually quite good!
I really recommend this hotel when you travel to Kyoto. Close by major station but so quiet. Room is super clean, stuff is very nice. I felt Japanese omotenashi spirit.
Bedre end forventet!
Bedre end forventet.
Worst experience ever !!!!
Beware!! This hotel offers no respect nor hospitality for their guests. I have traveled the whole world and have never been so ill treated. While enjoying my first breakfast (which is of a horrible quality) a lady from the reception came towards me and surprised me by simply yelling- I am not kidding the woman was shaking! She argued that I did not write my room number on her list. If I had seen her, of course I would - as I have in many other hotels around the world when the hostess is right in front of the breakfast entrance. In this case, she was simply in the middle of the hall- of course I did not see her nor was aware that by not signing up my room I would be entitled to a free humiliating extremely aggressive treatment! I am beyond shocked, I have worked in the hospitality industry and could have never imagined that paying a quite expensive room (honestly for such lack of humanity even a 1$ per night room is expensive) we would be given zero respect. Me and my parents are horrified, we felt treated like animals!! Moreover, beware, other than the crazy lady in the reception and her colleague who consented to her actions — this hotel DOES NOT help any non-speaking Japanese person to make ANY reservations (as you can see in the picture ) They also DO NOT HELP with any inquiry. When we arrived we politely asked the reception if they could call a restaurant, that we had found on the internet, to see if they have any availability in the next 30 minutes. The lady in the
My recent experience at Hotel Wing International in Kyoto was a fantastic one to say the least. The hotel was impeccably clean, and I particularly enjoyed their traditional sitting shower/bath combo, which was a unique and relaxing feature. The breakfast served was delicious and offered a variety of options to start the day right. Additionally, the drink machines in the lobby area created a great social spot where guests could gather and unwind after busy days exploring the city. Overall, I highly recommend Hotel Wing International for a comfortable and enjoyable stay in Kyoto.
