The stay were very friendly and accommodating. Had an initial mix up with the room we reserved but they corrected it promptly. Food was excellent and the rooms very clean. Concierge was very helpful when we needed information ir help on getting somewhere. Definitely will stay again if we are ever here again. Great location to a lot of the main sights that you might be interested in.

We booked this hotel based on the other recommendations. Unfortunately, it wasn’t the best experience starting with our airport transfer from the hotel not showing up at 5am. Everyone was friendly but breakfast is a bit chaotic with one supervisor walking around drinking coffee as other servers running about, seemingly in an aimless way. The room was lovely and clean but pretty noisy due to the location. Overall we were just a bit underwhelmed.

A charming hotel in and ideal location. The rooms are like a Hollywood version of the Sultan's chamber, wonderfully clean and comfortable. And you're just a few steps away from dozens (hundreds) of restaurants as well the big attractions.

Lovely small hotel, great location for seeing the sights and very nice room decor. Comfy bed. Staff were pleasant and helpful. No bar, but close to lots of options to eat and drink.

We had a huge Harem room with balcony and Hallam. Service was excellent as was the morning breakfast - incredible variety of fruits and veggies. Only downside was the weak AC which made us open the balcony door at night - you get all the street noise and the locals smoking like crazy.

Sultan treatment at Sultania

Thanks to the front desk staff at the hotel - Arafat and Crew. They also make sure that we are well taken care of in our favourite themed room. Rooms are spotlessly clean. Their breakfast is now also served on the 6th - beautiful views over the city. Tried their oat porridge this time round… hooked… takes me back to childhood days. Their insights and guidance to sights/events within the city, invaluable.

Excellent in every way. Our second time at this hotel and if we ever get there again this is were we we stay AGAIN!

The property's location is excellent for anyone who is visiting Istanbul. Most attractions are walk-able, and so cheap, and efficient public transit options. Combine that with the extremely friendly staff, and great amenities it truly is a great location to stay when visiting Istanbul.

This is a very nice property. I chose it because it appeared to be walking distance to the most significant historic sites. It did not disappoint. The area immediately around the hotel is mostly restaurants and other hotels. My room did not have a view and I believe none of the rooms really have a view except toward adjacent buildings and the array of AC units etc that are plentiful. There is a nice view from the 6th floor restaurant.The room is a nice size, the bed was comfortable and bedding was very nice. The toilet and shower are actually not in a separate room. they are in the bedroom but with a glass enclosure that has a digital print scene on the glass so that it is opaque. Rather ingenious. The sink was outside and next to this glass enclosure. It is a single marble sink. The closet space is good and there is a nice large desk surface and a built in seating are under the window. The staff was very nice and very helpful. Breakfast was good. Not great but certainly had a wide assortment of options as well as al a carte items that could be ordered. I particularly liked the fruit options and am not a big breakfast person but it seemed to satisfy those in the dining room. There is cheese, eggs, pastries, yogurt and toppings and more. I would recommend this hotel as a level 4 for the area. The price is much more than hotels by Galata Tower but I preferred to be near the historic sites.

Good

The pictures shown does not match the reality. In reality, the room we stayed (we stayed in a premium room) was very dated with floor scratched and wall paper falling apart. They did provide daily room service to make the bed, clean the bathroom, but they didn’t vacuum bc we found hair and dirt on the floor. However, the hotel is in a great location, minutes walk to everything , yet very quiet. No cars are allowed on this street, so be prepared to walk a little bit with your luggage . This is not an issue for us at all, but if a family with children and elderly might find it challenging. There are many other hotels right on this street to consider. We won’t return to Istanbul period. This city is chaotic, dirty, crowded, and loud. And every where you go people is trying to get you to buy something or eat at their restaurants. Absolutely annoying and rude.

Wonderful would be an understatement. The staff at this hotel go above and beyond to make your stay enjoyable. The man at the front desk in the evening helped us tremendously with booking a taxi for our return, recommending nearby sights and helping us navigate our way in Istanbul. Additionally, the man working at the bar during tea time also provided exceptional service. Those working at the Olive restaurant were also exceptional, the dinner there was phenomenal. We regret leaving the restaurant to our last night. Had we gone earlier, we would have had a few additional dinners there. Delicious food, amazing service. Lastly, the morning breakfast is plentiful. The staff always greeted us with a smile and were willing to go out of their way to provide whatever we needed. This hotel and restaurant are highly recommended. Ps. Stay away from the restaurant across the hotel, awful food. When booking taxi’s, ask the hotel to help (it will avoid unnecessary charges and detours). We look forward to returning!

Lovely boutique hotel with terrific rooms and excellent service. Walkable for restaurants and shopping and close to the very convenient light rail system. Highly recommend.

We loved our stay at Hotel Sultania. Very friendly staff and amazing location. So convenient to everything in the old city. Turkish bath, darwish show, restaurants, grand bazar, blue mosque , basilica-… everything was walkable. Hotel breakfast was delicious too!

Sultania is well located to main tourist attractions. Staff is wonderful, premisses are very clean. It's a great cost-benefit.

A beautiful boutique hotel close to everything!

This was the perfect boutique hotel in the Old Town. 10-15 minute walk to everything you need as a tourist. Close to Hagia Sophia, the Blue Mosque, Grand Bazar, Spice Bazar, the waterfront. Surrounded by restaurants and bars! The hotel staff were friendly, rooms were a nice size, clean. The only small thing was the elevator. Besides that this was perfect.

Right in the center of the old town area within walking distance to major attractions; excellent breakfast served by extraordinary staff; front desk managers and assistants are nice and willing to help. It would be a notch up if all the towels are not that worn out and clean.

Perfect location, close to everything!

I stayed at Hotel Sultania for 4 nights and thoroughly enjoyed my stay! First off, the location is soooo convenient. It is in the Hoca Pasa area, and the tram to get around to whatever you need to see, is only 5 min down the street! I would easily get to Sultanamet, Eminuou and Karikoy areas. The rooms are nicely appointed, beds are super comfy, showers great, and the small touches of a treat on the bed, bottled water every day, really made it special. My only wee issue was that my room was on the first level, and near street level, so there were some noise, and felt I always had to have the curtains closed. Otherwise, great stay!

Irecently stayed at Hotel Sultania in the Sultanahmet district of Istanbul, and it was a fantastic experience. The location is perfect, just a 10-minute walk to the Hagia Sophia and Blue Mosque. The bed and pillows were incredibly comfortable, and the rooms had unique decorations with different themes, adding a special touch to the stay. The breakfast was amazing, offering a wide variety of options, and the free afternoon tea and snacks were a delightful bonus. The hotel also features a relaxing pool and jacuzzi, perfect for unwinding after a day of sightseeing. I opted for the honeymoon package as a surprise for my new fiancée, which was great and made our stay extra special. We arrived earlier than the hotel expected, but they managed to set the room up quickly without my fiancée knowing. Additionally, the meal included with the honeymoon package at the hotel's restaurant, Olive, was amazing and delicious. The staff were exceptional, especially Bugra and Hasan, who were friendly, helpful, and provided excellent recommendations for things to do and places to eat. The only downside was the young lady with black hair at the spa reception, who was quite rude and dismissive, she needs to improve her hospitality and customer service skills. Despite this, the rest of the staff were amazing, making my stay thoroughly enjoyable. Highly recommended

Excellently located to the old town all within walking distance and a tram line minutes walk away. Quiet and safe area with lots of dining options. The room decor gives you a feel like you’re staying in an authentic place. Breakfast was decent enough and service was excellent from all staff.

Sultania is is in an excellent location in the Old City. Very walkable to nearly everything! Hospitality of the staff was amazing. The accommodations were clean and the bed very comfortable, with good pillows. The hotel appears in need of some updating and maintenance. In the room, several fixtures were loose from the ceiling and bathroom fixtures were in need of updating. Everything could have used some paint.

It was a fabulous hotel right in the heart of everything. The staff were amazing and their guest hospitality agent Julia was brilliant. She was so helpful and went out of her way to accommodate us. The choice and variety for breakfast was amazing and they had a complimentary afternoon tea every day. We stayed for 8 nights and will definitely return.

Rooms were a nice size and spotless clean! Also, conveniently located with lots of restaurants close as well as the tram. The one issue we had was with the pickup from the aiport. They were not there as they had not reviewed our email of arrival time yet they still charged us $69 for the pickup. We got our own taxi at a rate of $35.

I've travel all around the world never have I ever received the hospitality that I have received from this Hotel they made my birthday trip amazing the staff was so accommodating, welcoming, and fun. highly recommend.

Hotel is in perfect location to walk to Blue Mosque, Hagia Sofia, Basilica Cistern and 5 minutes from Tram line. Very safe neighborhood and many people out walking around at night. Staff were so nice and accommodating in helping us navigate the city and the room and breakfast were great! We booked a Deluxe room with a Queen bed and balcony. This will definitely be our go to hotel in Istanbul!

What a great hotel! We loved our 3 night stay. All the hotel staff were wonderful, friendly and accommodating at all times. We couldn’t rate them highly enough. The rooms are individually decorated and feel special. The hotel location is amazing - 10mins walk to the Hagia Sofia, Blue Mosque, Basilica Cistern and the Grand and Spice Bazaars. There are also loads of restaurants right outside the hotel. The Olive rooftop restaurant is excellent for dinner. Added lovely touches were the pool, jacuzzi and the mid afternoon complimentary cakes and coffee. We’d be back in a heartbeat and 100% recommend Hotel Sultania.

Good clean convenien for terminal 5

Overall experience was very good, overall everyone wer very help full and courteous. Condition of property is excellent and location is unbeatable . My experience with SPA was not good as the lady heading the front desk was not very fluent with the language to an extend of sounding rude. In spite of great facilities my massage was not up to the mark .

Romantic weekend

The location was perfect for us. Close to the Basilica Cistern, Topkapi palace, Blue Mosque and the staff friendly and helpful. The spa is a bit dated/needs updating. The Hamman needs to be much much hotter! Overall a nice hotel and well priced We got engaged during our stay and enjoyed a meal in the roof top restaurant. Stunning views

The Hotel touches on the history and culture of sultanate era in Turkey. Hotel is very neat and clean. It has an excellent restaurant on the 4th floor overviewing the great architectural icon of Byzantine era, the Hagia Sofia as well as the historical Bosphorus river. Restaurant's menu will definitely cover everything that you need to eat. Excellent cooking, especially grilled salmon and grilled sea bass with eloquent presentation. The hotel management is praisewothy. The front desk is adorned with Bugra, Mert and Julia. Their respectable treatment with me is unforgettable ever.Bugra and Mert helped me like my own brothers. I found their treatment with other guests was excellent too. I will definitely recommend this hotel to everyone who wants visit Istanbul in any day soon.

Reviews are true- it’s a brilliant hotel

I’ve stayed at many hotels and also choose boutique hotels as they provide more personal service. This hotel has been amongst the best. The location is brilliant. The lovely street it sits on is pretty- just one street back from a busy one that has a tram running on it. So thankful it’s not on that street- we almost picked Romance hotel and thankful we didn’t as Hotel Sultania has better street appeal. Food was great and every morning had excelled barista made coffee. Thank you to all the staff- you really are a magnificent team who know how to ensure your guests enjoy their stay. I also loved the way you all seemed to have a great working relationship. Olive restaurant- yep- every recommendation was true to word. The food was delicious, service and atmosphere were perfect. Negative- one lift…but only once was it annoying- over a 6 night stay. So not so bad.

Prefessional, Very accomodative staff. Cozy, comfortable room, gym in lower level. Location excellent- walking distance to haga Sofia mosque, Blue mosque, the tram, a local mosque for daily prayers, short walk to Bosphorus/corniche, short walk to The Bazaar..

I received the room upgrade. I was also surprised with a cake on my birthday. The hotel is near the T1 station and you can walk to many tourist sites. 5/5

Excellent hotel

The hotel is close to everything very convenient. Staff are very helpful. Due to the heavy rain our room was a bit leaky (top floor) we were promptly upgraded to a bigger room. Their buffet breakfast is of good quality. We paid €10 a day per person which is very good value. We would highly recommend them.

Amazing Staff, hard workers, they care a lot.

From start to finish we had a wonderful 4 night stay. Every staff member speaks great english and is warm and welcoming, they all work soo hard, it seems like they do really long shifts, but their service level never drops, the staff make the hotel, i reccommend this hotel 💯. The room was clean, light and spacious, the toiletries were lovely, cosy, comfy bed, the cleaner did a fab job with the room everyday, it looked and smelt wonderful. The breakfast and free afternoon tea were amazing, i loved all the food here, great options to choose from, we are bith vegetarian and ut was just perfect. I recommend the afternoon tea and the menemen for breakfast, just yummy, the porridge was also very good. They know how to make great coffee, i am very fussy with my coffee and had no complaints at all. It was my partner's birthday, the staff booked us a table in the olive rooftop restaurant with a beautiful view of the bosphorus all lit up, very romantic, they also gave him a lovely dessert with a candle in and sang happy birthday to him, soo thoughtful and lovely. We really had a wonderful stay, don't stay anywhere else, this is just perfect. I recommend the olive rooftop restaurant, get a table by the window at night, great food, large portions and great service.

The staff and this hotel are excellent. I enjoyed the respect they gave us and how they treated us. They always greated us, also they worked on the small things e.g. I'm an Arsenal fan and they talked about the results with me, which makes a difference.

No hesitation in recommending

We were booked to stay for 5 nights and were travelling with my parents (in their 80's). I chose this property because of its traditional / authentic decor, because it was a small property and its location, close to many of the highlights of the city. We were not disappointed. The rooms were a good size with tea/coffee making facilities, a sofa, mini-bar, TV etc and shower with rainfall head. It was comfortable and clean. Our air con didn't work well but they looked at it straightaway and offered us the next door room as it couldn't be fixed. The air con in my parents' room got fixed and thereafter worked well. We had requested one twin & one double room & our requests were fulfilled. The breakfast was varied and well presented each day (07:00-11:00). There were a number of hot options available (i.e scrambled egg), fruit, meat/cheese, pastries, fresh bread etc. Service was very good, in fact all hotel staff were extremely polite and attentive at all times, nothing was too much trouble. We ate once in the hotel rooftop restaurant and the food was tasty, if not the best we experienced during our stay. Great for our first night though. The location was excellent - countless restaurants & many shops within walking distance. The nearest tram station was within 5 mins walk which meant we could get about very easily & took the strain off for my parents with all the walking. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this hotel & would happily return again in the future.

The courtesy and friendliness of the entire staff started from the moment of check-in all the way to check-out. The rooms were nice sized and well equipped for Europe. The breakfast buffet was excellent. The food and views from the rooftop Olive restaurant were spectacular. The location for tourism is just great for food and shopping. Will certainly recommend heartily.

Hotel is located within walking distance to major touristic attractions. Staff there are hotel's best asset. From the moment we arrived to the moment we left they made our stay much easy. The provided with information about the area's restaurants, attractions, they helped with transportation. There is one particular employee, named Bugra, who went beyond himself to help us with transportation, he was si polite and attentive, always making sure that we were getting the best arrangements for transportation, very personable and reliable person. We were very happy and satisfied with our stay

Great hotel

The hotel is absolutely perfectly placed for easy access to all the major tourist sites. No more than a ten minutes walk. Overall the hotel is excellent. Helpful reception staff, lovely room with good facilities (small but useful gym and pool). The only thing that was less than ideal was the cleaning service. The room was spotlessly clean but something was always missing - only one towel, no toilet paper and most unusual fitting a queen sized duvet in a king size cover. It must have taken longer to neatly fold the edges of the duvet to fit than to get the right size. I would happily stay the staining

We stayed at this wonderful hotel - located in the heart of the old town. The location was perfect for being a short walking distance to the major sites. The staff was helpful. The roof top restaurant food was fabulous!

My wife and I recently (first week of september) stayed at the Sultania hotel. We were blown away by the hospitality, friendliness, resourcefulness and client responsiveness of the staff. We have traveled to more than 50 countries and I can honestly say this hotel was one of the best in terms of our experience and satisfaction. Our particular thanks to the three duty managers Mr. Arafa, Mr. Mesut and Mr. Ahmed for their thoughtful suggestions and help.

Hotel was outstanding, great location, great food and staff I would return

The Sultania represents the best of Istanbul. The property and service are excellent. The location in the old city makes viewing of all attractions walkable.

This is my second time at this hotel. The staff is excellent but our stay was not the best. Our suite didn’t have its AC working properly and we asked them to fix it. And the staff said they fixed it every day but it still wasn’t cooling. I think the property is just old unfortunately.

Hotel Sultania Istanbul Review

The hotel location is excellent as all the major historical sites are within reasonable walking distances. There are lots of eating choices all-around the hotel. The staff is very friendly and pleasant to talk to. The rooms are decent but just a caution that their beds are extremely soft with no back support as you completely sink in when you lie on them. We stayed at this hotel for a day and moved out to visit other cities only to return after 16 days for a 3 days stay again at Hotel Sultania. We requested them to keep our extra 2 suitcases in storage till we return to stay at the end of our vacation but were told that the hotel charges €2 per suitcase per day which amounted to €32. We have stayed at our hotels in Istanbul and had left our extra luggage with them but were never charged by those hotels but were told by Hotel Sultania front desk associate that it is their policy. We agreed to pay but were told that they will only accept cash and only cash which made me skeptical of this charge. After we paid the cash they asked we were never given any receipt for it which made us wonder if it was a cash grab and the money was pocketed by the front desk. Apart from this experience the rest of the stay was good.
