One of the best places that I have stayed! Staying at the hotel is like staying w. extended family. It is small and intimate and very well run. I can honestly say that I have never had a room so well cleaned! We had a 2 bedroom suite and it was affordable & very spacious and comfortable. Enjoyed the breakfasts and kudos to the staff for their speed and attentiveness. The coffee is great & as I discovered early one morning you can get coffee 24-7. It is down a quiet cut de sac but you are a few minutes walk from La Sabana Park, restaurants & a convenience stores. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone - single. family or travelling w. friends!

Great value for the price

The hotel was very close to La Sabana park. We walked in the park and also walked to the National Stadium to watch a soccer game. The breakfast was great, with lots of options. The pool was nice too. The apartment we stayed in had 2 bedrooms, which were small, but had plenty of closet space. The living room area was tight, but had enough seating for 4 people. Decorations were minimal.

3nights family trip in San Jose Costa Rica

Nice central location with friendly staff. Looks like a boutique hotel designed like a 5star affair (but do not expect lift/escalator) but safe inside closed-off (gated & covered) area for car park - compact cars only. No dishwasher either. Ancient model stove from 1950s. Radio Shack era phones. One thing I hated was their sly trick of naming their hotel as if it is a Residence Inn ..not related .. actual name is SUITES CRISTINA. Full service restaurant and room service was a plus. Reasonably good free breakfast and good wifi. Go for the 2 separate room models if you are traveling with kids.

Safe, Relaxing, and Great Food

The staff were so helpful. My favorite part was the Itslian restaurant connected to the property. So good! The breakfast buffet did not disappoint. Garage parking too.

Very relaxing environment and even more so if you love nature, tjis is a great place to see it.

What a great little hotel. We didn’t want to do a chain hotel and we got real lucky with Hotel Cristina. It was close to 3 great restaurants and wasn’t in the touristy region either. Will definitely choose here if we go to San Jose again

Many units are apartment style with two bedrooms and 1 or 2 bathrooms so excellent for families or two couples. The morning breakfast in courtyard was very good with a good range of foods. The beds were very comfortable. The site grounds and rooms were always very clean and with front desk service 24 hours. We used as vacation base for 12 days to take day bus trips to other areas of Costa Rica and in-between toured local DT museums and area parks at a leisurely pace-one a day and on a few days just relaxed or caught up on laundry on site Good vacation value whether visiting just for a few days or longer like us. The units have a kitchen but not well equipped but room service will bring anything you might need extra. We used primarily fridge and only ate small snacks or the odd simple meal..

Perfect Home Base - Great Hosputaluty

Great Find. Outstanding welcoming and helpful staff. Beautiful property, spacious apartment like suites. Excellent varied breakfasts. Free indoor garage included. (Big deal in SJ) Wonderful location 2blocks from La Sábana the central city green space. Close to urban core, museums culture, supermarket, convenience store and highways. Wonderful base to explore Central Valley, volcanos archeological sites, coffee plantations. In city traffic and driving is crazy. For the most part drivers cope and are tolerant.

We enjoyed our stay

Breakfast was pretty good. Bed comfortable. Even though I paid in full prior to arrival, clerk stated he wasn’t sure if they would have a room for me. No offer was made to find me a room elsewhere nor to refund my payment. Very stressful. Do not recommend.

It was such an enjoyable experience. We loved the quaintness of the hotel and that it was not a big chain. Breakfast was great. Staff was very friendly. If you are up for walking you can walk from the hotel all the way downtown, which we did without issues.

The property is very clean and the staff is extremely friendly. they do not have an elevator so you have to carry your luggage, which was fine with me, but some people may not like that. The breakfast was fantastic, with fresh fruits and Omelets made to order. Overall it a good hotel, you will need transportation like a car or a taxi though.

This hotel has probably been the best hotel I’ve ever been to. Their employees are super helpful and very friendly. They helped us book a lot of excursions as well as helped me retrieve some forgotten items at the hotel. This was an amazing choice for sure!

It was great to have a full kitchen and separate rooms. The WiFi connection needs improvement.

Overall it’s a very good hotel. Breakfast buffet is the best, enough options to choose from. There is no exhaust in the bigger bathroom and second bathroom could be little bigger. Other than that no issues.

Went for a concert, great location to access stadium. Comfortable beds and equipped kitchen. ok parking, but its free. Would stay again.

This is our usual stop when we stay in San Jose. It’s location is ideal (next to the park), it’s super clean, comfortable, staff is delightful and they speak both English and Spanish, breakfast is wonderful, it’s affordable and it’s peaceful. If we have guests visit, we recommend this hotel!

I could not have picked a better hotel for our stay in Costa Rica. The suite, breakfast, staff and area was excellent. Close to quite a few dining options which are both drivable and walkable. There's also a park nearby and the pool at the hotel was great. A few suggestions, wish you had the option to bring your breakfast to your suite if you did not feel like sitting in the pool area with the other guests. Option to hang your close in your suite to dry as the dryers do not tend to completely dry your clothes. Other than that, this is my go to hotel when visiting! I highly recommend it!

Great stay for budget price

Good location for a one night stay, not far from the SJO Airport. Eventhough it was on a industrial area, it was safe. We found eatery near by with local food what we loved and appreciated. For the nightly price of the Hotel it worth well every penny.

I love staying at the Cristina for several reasons: always welcoming, always immaculately clean, the little suites providing separate bedrooms makes my friends happy so that they do not have to listen to me snoring!

Foyer area was lovely and staff were very helpful. The actual suite was a bit dated and very little cooking equipment, but this was apparently available from reception. Breakfast was great, and beds were comfortable. Area was convenient and we walked into San Jose in 30m. The park was very close and a lovely place to wander.

2 week stay with family

Suites Cristina is a very nice property. Quiet, well-maintained, and comfortable. We had an excellent housekeeper, Lissette, who took great care of us. The breakfast bar has lots of fresh options and we didn’t get bored with the selection, even after 13 mornings. Easy to walk to the Sabana Park and local stores and restaurants. Secure garage to park the vehicle, if you choose the San Jose traffic challenge! The cost to do your own laundry on site is a bit steep, about $10 to wash and dry 1 load, so plan accordingly.

Very nice place to stay in close proximity to the Sabana. I stayed in one of the suites at the 5th floor and it was very nice and quiet. Bathroom shower can use an update :-)

Located in a quiet area. Staff speak English and are very welcoming. several fast food and other food options available near by. The park is across the street and is very well maintained.

Hotel Suites Cristina is a wonderful place to stay because it is like renting an apartment. Having a kitchen and a living room equipped with a desk separate from the bedroom area is super practical and convenient. Loved that it included laundry facilities. Also, every single staff member we encountered was polite and helpful. We loved it. We will definitely go back on our next trip to Costa Rica. Pura Vida!

Great but - if mobility is impaired, not good.

This place worked great for us, I actually wish we could have stayed longer. The issue was actually that there was no elevator. The hotel has a weird layout, and there are a lot of stairs. If you have any form of disability that may make stairs hard for you, this is not your place. Otherwise, if you're staying in San Jose and don't mind bringing your luggage up the stairs, then you'll love this place, lots of room and very affordable.

Wonderful place. Clean, comfortable, and friendly staff. Only complaint is the pool closed down a little early when we stayed. Was a delightful place.

The bath towels and the facial towels at this property has a lot of loose fibers that sticks to your body and face . I suggest they change their towels !!

Located on a quiet street, but within walking distance to great restaurants, one adjoining the hotel. Friendly, helpful staff; delicious hot breakfast with variety of choices; spacious rooms; pleasant view of pool/garden area; secure parking. Would love to stay there again!

This property was great. It was very clean. The full breakfast every morning was delicious and filling. My family enjoyed the 2 bedroom suite and full kitchette. The front desk was helpful with any need we had. I would stay there again.

Hotel canceled booking last minute. Poor comm.

The hotel overbooked and canceled our stay last minute. They sent us a cryptic message saying they were rebooking somewhere else but didn't actually follow through with the rebooking and never told us if there was an update to the booking. This took a very long time to sort out and then they charged my credit card anyways! Very dissatisfied with this hotel.

Great hotel in a safe place

A real gem of a find! A large room with full kitchen and living room. Phenomenal breakfast! We didn’t drive so it was walking distance from the stadium, park, a small casino and subway and KFC. There is also a grocery store walkable from the hotel across the street from the stadium. We used this as our base and took tours that picked us up and returned us to our hotel. The hotel was located in a very safe part of San Jose.

Very very bad service

The worst hotel I ever stay. The staff can't do anything but always ask me to find manager, but the manager always not there. The drying machine not work and I waste 4hours to do laundry and still my clothes are wet. Waste time waste money. My reservation from hotel.com, the rewards night still locked after 2weeks check out. Because they just didn't confirm my reservation yet in Expedia. I call to them and they said they will tell manager. Everything need to do by visiting manager, and manager is on vacation everyday

Beds were comfortable, staff friendly, free buffet breakfast good, area is close to a few restaurants, park & stadium. Lots of buses and Ubers. Property is older and all of our windows faced inward but a great value for a family.
