Love this hotel. The rooms are gorgeous. The breakfast spead is amazing. A little bit of something for everyone. It can be crowded at times so go early.

Great breakfast buffet. People are friendly, nice...BUT Most of staff not speak English...an international hotel like Riu needs improvement.

I was not impressed…the hallway on the floor with our rooms smelled musty so did our rooms. The bathroom sink was clogged; still wasn’t fixed after 3 requests. The floor where the gym is was dark the couple of times I went. Many of the staff appeared unfriendly & unwelcoming. **The only stand out was James in the restaurant at dinner. He knows what it means to be welcoming and provide excellent customer service! He went above & beyond to ensure we were having a good time.

The keys to operate the elevator needed to be validated every time. Very uncomfortable. A lot of noises at night. We asked for lte checkout because couldn’t sleep due the noise and they refused.

We are vegetarians and the lunch and dinner buffet did not cater very much for us. We had to go elsewhere for those meals.

The hotel is very nice but at this point in time very dated. The outlets in the room were a little bit loose so nothing that you plugged in would stay in the room definitely could use a refresh. And the hotel is working in a safe area but it’s not walkable to anything. There are no restaurants or nighttime activities. But an Uber the most parts of the city is less than $5 USD . Not bad

It was good for the price. They have very very strict rules with bookings & only allow legal passport names to be used. That made some things tough. But overall, most of the staff was super nice and helpful. And the hotel was nice

House keeping was awful. Some days didn’t get new water bottles. They would just roll up dirty towels and put back on shelf (still wet). The lobby is a party every night with a ton of people not staying at hotel. Chaos all over. Breakfast mediocre.

Needs lots of repairs

Very run down hotel in need of repairs. Hard to imagine this is still a 5 star hotel. The decor is beautiful and you can see this once was wonderful but it is in need of new mirrors, sinks, tubs all which were chipped and deteriorating. Plus the pillows were throw pillows inside queen sized cases and incredible uncomfortable. We aaked for extra pillows so we could try to sleep comfortably but even the mattress was outdated. Our mini fridge was broken and blowing hot air. We were told its not supposed to keep items cool but to maintain freshness which made no sense. We needed it for medication and we were told to bring meds to hotel kitchen to store during our stay. We asked if we could get ice for the ice bucket in our room but we were told theres no ice available in the hotel so we bought our own daily since we were worried we would have our medication lost/stolen. We love Riu hotels, especially in Cancun but this hotel is NOTHING like the Rius we have stayed in. It was very disappointing to say the least. I have stayed there for the last 4 years when on business and always have a great stay. Breakfast is the best part. The staff is friendly and it is a very busy place at times. The only thing I would say was a negative for me personally was the bed, it was very hard and I had difficulty sleeping on it. Otherwise bring a bar of soap as they only have a liquid in a bottle.

The Staff is excellent, and the breakfast is amazing. The lobby area is always clean and smells great. The only bad thing about my stay was that there weren't any microwaves on the property (first-world problems, lol). For some travelers, that isn't a big issue. Overall still a 10/10! Definitely would recommend this hotel to everyone!!!

My hotel room had an odor i couldn’t sleep felt like i was suffocating, i changed room and the other room was the same .I was very disappointed.

The property was a little bit disappointing. The room we were in smelled of meldew. The bedroom not so much, but the living room area was bad. Great space which i did love in the excutive suit. The daily lounge lacked good snacks. The bar on the facility was not open until late night hrs. Pool bar is open. The morning buffet offered a variety of foods. Staff was nice housekeeping was sweet. Overall, one time stay, and off to another hotel. Love Panamá

The Riu is the BEST hotel I've ever stayed in!! We stayed in a Senior Suite on the 33rd floor - Great View! I never even felt like I was in a Hotel! The property was clean and quiet. We ate in the main restaurant and ordered room service. That food was fantastic with both services. The staff and services were superb!

This is an upscale hotel. Our room was very nice and the service was excellent. The buffet breakfast was outstanding as was the pool side poolside restaurant.

It's a big multinational with over 30 floors. The open air pool is good! the gym was clean but the machines a little dated, the rooms were big but perhaps a little damp; breakfast options were huge!

I recently had the pleasure of staying at the Riu Plaza Hotel in Panama City for two weeks, and it was a mixed experience. The highlight of the stay was definitely the breakfast buffet. With an incredible variety that caters to every dietary need, it truly starts the day on a high note. The local coffee was outstanding—definitely a must-try! Special thanks to Luis for treating us like VIPs and ensuring our coffee mugs were always full. The service at the pool was generally good, thanks to Horacio, who was attentive and friendly. However, I found the food service at the pool to be quite slow. It often required effort to get their attention, and wait times for orders seemed excessively long. On a positive note, the staff at the bar in the pool area was consistently friendly and made the experience more enjoyable. The hotel itself is well-kept; I appreciated how clean the public restrooms and overall facilities were. The reception staff were always ready and eager to assist, contributing to a welcoming atmosphere. * The rooms are not kid friendly, toilet too highly, sink and soap dispenser way to high and far That said, I did notice that some areas of the hotel could use improvement. The pool area is in need of some refinishing, and my room had a few maintenance issues—a cracked toilet lid and scuffed walls contributed to an aging aesthetic. Very clean and comfortable to stay

It was another stay at the Riu, absolutely perfect as usual. Nice property, friendly staff and nice and interesting guests. The candidates for the title of Miss Latin America live in the hotel at the moment, like a young rose garden in a big rose garden, pilots and employees of the world's leading airlines rest here between flights and many other wonderful, beautiful and impressive guests. There are also event parties and lunches and even beautiful weddings, especially during the Christmas season. The atmosphere is friendly and joyful. Thank you very much)

Quiet comfortable room. Pleasant and helpful staff. Nice Lobby. Unfortunately there was a very strong smell of mold from the carpet in the hallway and the smell was spread inside the room. The hotel is centrally located but there is horrible traffic on the street leading to the hotel. The elevator card slot where you insert the room card in order to take you to your floor is very finicky. Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn’t.

Excellent breakfast buffet. They need left more water bottle in the room (0nly two bottles per day). Also the hotel need more recreation at night for the guests.

The decor was nice and elegant. Wasn’t able to dine at the restaurant and had to resort to the all you can eat buffet. The buffet food was pretty good. Only issue was that i saw a roach, so as far as cleanliness, not to sure. Overall stay was nice.

Very clean and comfortable room. The location is very good. The included breakfast was terrific. The staff was very corteous. Next time I go to Panama, I will stay there.

Right in the heart of the financial district, Riu Plaza is central to shopping and delicious dining. Well known hotel very easy to arrange transportation with most excursions. Breakfast buffet is a spread for kings with lots and lots of delicious options. (You nees to add this to your package). Comfortable pool facilities and amenities. Only down side is my room had prominent humidity, i had to request a dehumidifier and run it all day evey day to help. Would recommend!

From the moment we arrived the staff was very pleasant. Our flight was detoured to Colombia so we wondered if our late arrival would be problematic. The staff made us feel welcome and the language difference was not a barrier. The food and service were great.

First off the place smells amazing!!!! Check in was a breeze with friendly staff. Hooking into internet was a hassle! My husband was finally able to connect but I never did connect. Breakfast was good but staff was slow with water and coffee. For the price it’s a very good stay.

The property was very nice, but I am not giving it 5 stars because there was a strong smell, similar to bleach, and I could not adjust the room temperature despite my attempts.

The property is perfectly situated in close proximity to everything. The lobby is very modern and welcoming. Luis at the main restaurant was excellent. With so many guests attending to, he still managed to pay keen attention to our table and anticipated our every need. He has a great personality and makes you feel welcomed. The hostesses are extremely cordial. Food is good. I participated in the Thanksgiving Buffet. Very good. The breakfast is definitely a full "belly full" buffet. My only issue was that my room and the floor I was on had an unbearable stench. Room product is very tired, outdated and does not align with the fabulous lobby. When you leave the lobby then go to the room its like 2 different hotels. Overall great experience. I would return if my room is not on the 22 floor or the category I booked.

There is much to love about this hotel and its staff. Erick in the dining room was exceptional. The food amazingly good. The daily breakfast buffet was varied each day with a large variety. It is important to note, room quality depends on room booked. Family rooms are not renovated like some of the other rooms. Higher floor rooms seemed to be better. The family rooms tended to have more stains and equipment not working-which was quickly fixed. We will definitely stay at this hotel again.

The hotel was great. The breakfast was fantastic with so many options each morning. Although I did not use the pool, it was large and seemed clean. Decent size bar at the pool too. Check in was very easy. The only complaint was once we got off of the elevator on the 18th floor, it smelled VERY musty and felt damp. I don’t know if the other floors were like that. There were many elevators. You did have to figure out which side was for your floor though.

The concierge staff in in front of the property did not offer assistance with our luggage or even hold the door. We were to elderly gentlemen struggle in with 5 pieces of luggage and about 6 of them did nothing but chat among themselves.
