Fabulous spot, wonderful facilities, great location.
Relaxing
Lovely property close to everything very quiet at night no music no loud parties if you want that you can go right down the road to Hidalgo for live music and drinks all night long as well as plenty of food
Loved this place!
This hotel has a spectacular view of the sea, there is a sidewalk that takes you to one of the most beautiful beaches in the world, north beach.
This hotel is an excellent value. The staff provides service that is a bit sluggish and the pillows are extremely uncomfortable, but otherwise I was very happy with my stay.
Very convenient location that felt safe. Y
Our first room had a terrible musty smell and poor water pressure with neighbors that enjoyed smoking on their balcony so we couldn’t open our doorwall. We asked management to move us into another room and they did so, which we greatly appreciated since it was much cleaner, too. We were mostly disappointed that all 3 pools we saw were cold and not heated even slightly, so we didn’t bother to go in. Had they been heated, we would have spent more time on property and bought drinks from their pool bar.
Room was clean and beds were comfortable. Enjoyed the hammock on the balcony. The pool looked out onto the beach, very relaxing. Close to restaurants and shops.
Just a little gem in the middle of everything yet peaceful and relaxing
Lovely hotel with delicious Margaritas!
We loved this hotel- the location is just perfect so close to Playa Norte but also in a quieter spot. The views from the pool earlier were beautiful. The exterior of the hotel was really well thought out, not too concrete jungle like many others and a beautiful swimming pool. The beds are super comfortable! The only negative was our shower was cold and was no much more than a dribble.
We LOVED our stay here. The pool is absolutely wonderful and my husband has to MAKE me get out when we had events to attend. There is a bar and bartender that made tasty drinks and cold beer. The turtles showed up in July to lay their eggs and we spent every evening watching the turtle patrol help the ladies lay their eggs and taking them to the hatchery to safely emerge later. The staff was great and helpful. We had a golf cart and enjoyed driving around but there are bars and restaurants closeby to walk to. We loved that this little secret hideaway is quiet compared to all the other hotels our friends were staying. Coming back to the hotel every night was like coming home. I recommend this hotel to truly be able to enjoy Isla Mujeres!
Amazing
Comfortable room, quiet no frills hotel. Easy to walk to Playa Norte beach.
Had the worst customer service, it was dirty and unsafe alot of young guys working and walking all around the hotel,
Large spacious room with great view of the ocean. Highly recommend this tranquil hotel.
Will for sure stay here again.
We are considering to come back to this hotel.
Beautiful location
Great property with beautiful pool views
Very nice hotel with excellent views from the pool. It was very clean and comfortable. Beds and pillows were comfortable. The only thing that could’ve been better was the shower head. Very close to Playa Norte and all the shops and restaurants. Bonus: We got to witness huge turtles nesting their eggs. Great overall experience.
Doors on lock didnt work
This was our first time staying at Hotel Playa Media Luna and I cannot wait to stay here again. The location is amazing. Our room was very clean and comfortable. The pool and beach access was great!!
The hotel location is great, the rooms are spacious and clean. The general state of the hotel is ok, common areas need maintenance. The attention from the staff is ok, most of the times there is no one at the front desk, so of you need help you have to wait for someone to show up. Me and my husband had to do an early check out because of huracan Beryl, and we were surprised no one at the hotel told us anything about what security measures they were taking, I spoke to the manager and she said I could ask for a refund with Expedia, they will contact her and she will approve it but after multiple attempts from Expedia I was informed they weren't able to contact anyone, I tried to contact the hotel by email and phone but I never did. I know this was an exception circumstance but I'm a bit disappointed with the lack of client support.
One of the nicest places on the island.
Great location walking distance to resturantes and beach. Clean comfortable rooms.
We had a wonderful stay at this property. The staff helped us with all of our needs. The room and bed was comfortable, but what really made this place great was its location to everything you want to enjoy in the area. Already planning a return with our extended family.
This place is a gem!
We love staying here! Always our first choice! location is perfect. Short walk to Playa Norte. And the view is unforgettable! The rooms are always very clean and a/c is very cold! Beds are very comfortable. Pools are clean. Wizer is amazing and takes great care of us always! We will 100% be back next year for our 3rd year in a row!
I really like the location of this property. You have the ocean views without the theatre seating in front of the ocean. North Beach, dining and shopping are within walking distance. The Hotel was clean, the staff were very friendly and helpful.
Great location, camielle was a great help. Our room was clean and cozy.
My reservation was all paid for but they wanted to charge me again, after showing my documents and arguing about it they cancelled the charge. Sink leaked, TV and AC remotes didn't work and bathroom lighting was very dark. Got it all taken care of and things went smooth after that.
Beautiful quiet place with everything so close it's a perfect stay.
Run down.
The ambience was amplified by the cross-winds blowing through the facility, especially in the lobby. As a sailor who just competed in the Regatta Del Sol Al Sol Race across the Gulf, the constant breeze going through the lobby was like a great chocolate sauce on ice cream. The poolside view of the ocean waves was spectacular. The staff was attentive and polite.
I was so pleasantly surprised by this hotel. The pool facing the semi-private half moon beach was heaven. Enjoyed the smaller dipping pool too. Close walk to North Beach and Calle Hidalgo for all the places to eat. I can't wait to come back.
Nice view of ocean from pool and easy walk to beach and restaurants. The only negative was the showerhead in our room. Hard to get soap off of body
Quiet hotel on a lovely cove close
We recently spent three nights at this hotel while we explored and relaxed on Isla Mujeres. The hotel is well located on the north east side of the top of the island, meaning it is well placed for the famous Playa Norte and accessing the restaurants and bars in town, but quiet and secluded enough on its own beach cove, which while you can’t swim there, affords a peaceful retreat from the crowds. It’s like having the heat of both worlds - great access and tranquility. The hotel has a nice pool looking out to the sea and comforts rooms, albeit leaning to the more basic side. A couple of observations: - There is no breakfast facility here, but lots of good places closes by - Coffee Break and Oh My Brunch were both good and close by. - While there are coffee machines in the rooms and one near the reception, they only offered single use polystyrene cups when we were there, which is very disappointing given the need to protect the island’s ecosystem and environment. - The tv has a couple of Spanish language channels, which is fair, and the “smart tv” functions (ie Netflix) didn’t work. Not a major point, as we were out exploring all the time. - The reception staff could be friendlier and more present/visible, especially as they make you wear a plastic tag/wristband to ensure only hotel guests use the facilities/for security reasons. We saw the hotel cat at the door more than we did staff members!
Loved this place, great location and clean.
Best location on the island!
Can’t wait to come back next year!
Amazing location - overall great value
Excellent location. Walking distance to restaurants, shopping and the beach. The hotel is tucked away from the street and is so quiet that you can hear the waves. The pool is nice and has a beautiful view but despite 2 pools pictured by the beach, there is only 1. They have another small pool around the corner. Staff was friendly and the room was basic but clean. There are no elevators so be prepared to climb stairs. Some of the websites mentioned free breakfast (which is not true) but they did have free coffee and plenty of drinking water. No microwave in the room but there is one next to the lobby.
The location of this property is perfect. Close to North Beach, shopping and restaurants. On the quiet side, perfect for relaxing and beautiful views of the ocean and small bay away from the crowds. My room was clean, spacious and comfortable (great pillows too). There’s no restaurant on site, but it’s close enough to food stalls and restaurants that it didn’t matter.
We have stayed at this property several times and it is always consistent and convenient. The rooms are nice sized and clean and quiet. LOL..the older gentleman at reception has never changed... While he is NOT a wealth of customer service - he is efficient and gets job done - never rude just not as warm and inviting as the property 😉.
Will come back again.
Great value. Great location. Will come Back again. Convenient location close to amenities without the large crowds!
Cool beach and pool with a bar.
Close to beach
Booked partial ocean view, received no view. Starting at 9 am all day long banging and loud noises from above our room. Last night hallway light was out. Felt unsafe due to that. Positive news. Cleaning staff was very good and pool was very nice with an amazing view.
Great location. Nice pool / beach set up (can not swim in the ocean right in front of hotel due to rocks rough water, but a short walk around the corner and you can). Close walk to all the action, but hotel is tucked away down a side street.
Isla Vacation
The Hotel was nice and in a great location. The only issue we had was the water in the shower was luke warm at best and I told the front desk the first 4 mornings and nothing was ever done about it.
Pool area was great. Beautiful views and a couple hundred yards to North Beach. Room had several issues with lack of maintenance, which seems typical locally. I was impressed that the sliding door to the patio didn't work properly and they repaired within a couple of days as they needed parts.
Close to the beach, clean and cozy room.
We enjoyed our stay. Clean, big room. Coffee was good in the room. Excellent location, walkable to down town. You can park a golf cart on property. Room was cleaned everyday. Beautiful view from pool. Pool was always clean. The decorative tile in the pool could be redone. And i would suggest some music to played out at the pool. The area around the property is old, just like everywhere else on the island. Bed was very comfortable. No hairdryer, and the one i borrowed was not good so bring one if you need it. There was some construction noise on the week days but no big deal, they have to work sometime. I will definitely stay here again
Hotel room had good water pressure, hot water and the beds were comfortable. Room is basic and clean with mini fridge and coffee maker. Towels are on the smaller side for the pool/beach. Pool is warm (July) Franco the bartender was nice. Ivan did a great job of cleaning our room. Didn’t have much interaction with the staff but nothing bad to say about service. Lots of restaurants near by, beach is a short walk away. Sea turtles were nesting on the beach at the hotel and it was amazing to watch (in silence, not lights/flash and do not go close please) we had Rm 28 and do not recommend that room if you want to be able to use it in the summer months. No view and no breeze. I would recommend this hotel for a basic needs stay, would stay again but with a sea view room.we are 2 woman mid 40’s
Location and Views!
We are so happy we found this hidden gem! Perfect location! A short walk and you are right on the most beautiful Playa Norte. Street food just outside the hotel (get the churros!) So many excellent walkable restaurants, North Garden, Ruben’s, Rooster’s are a must! Malecon begins just a short walk around the beach for an unbelievable scenic walk down the ocean’s edge! Walk to the Tiny Gecko at night it will not disappoint! A cute little bar with live music and great food and a magnificent ocean front view! The pool area is so wonderful! Relax poolside with a breathtaking ocean view. And that ocean breeze!! No swimming in ocean but you can wade in water near rocks and in cove. Located right in town but you will not hear any town noise. They are nestled back just enough to be so close to everything but far enough away. Sunrises by pool are breathtaking.Gorgeous Sunsets! Snorkel nearby just a short beach walk to Mia Bridge. We had a very private garden view walkout to a garden pool, there are 3 pools. The front desk was always friendly to us, some reviews state otherwise, but we were always greeted and taken care of with a smile, especially from Pat. Our room was cleaned daily with new linens—towels were brand new and room always smelled freshly cleaned upon our return. Pools do need some cleaning—we did see a pool guy cleaning one day and adding chemicals but definitely needed some more attention. But we loved this place and will definitely return!
Not good hotel.
Do not have elevator you need to climb a lot of stairs to get to your room, they are undercontuction very noisy, the beach towels are in bad conditions, the internet connection is always lost, in the night no cold water in the shower, no telephone and clock in the room.
Hotel was great! Room was always clean and comfortable. It is in a great location, near playa Norte and other close-by beaches. Also within walking distance to playa centro and Hidalgo st which has many restaurants and shopping. Only issue we had was the pools were not kept clean.
quiet
Overall good area and service for the price. Bar hours are limited. Pool towels are limited, so recommend to bring your own if staying multiple days.
It's a quiet property minutes walk away from the hub of the island. While other reviews indicated issues with staff we always had someone available within 5 minutes of arriving at the desk, very helpful and courtous, usually just around the corner in the office. One does have to say Ola to get attention. It's an older property but everything works fine...especially the AC. Definitely would stay again.
Had a fantastic stay. Franko was on top for sure.
What I didn’t like was being put on the top floor. My husband has a heart problem and walking up 4 flights of steps 5-6 times a day was not good. We asked to be moved to a lower floor and they told us they couldn’t do it. Our rooms bathroom- the pipes below the sink always came off and when we used the sink there was water all over. The pot hardly ever flushed- the air conditioner leaked and got our shoes and suit cases soaked and water all over the floor. The refrigerator was not cold. This was suppose to be the new addition. We were there for two weeks a saw people come and go on the main floor ocean front. For only a couple of days. We could have been moved if you cared enough about the people that stay there. We have stayed here before and never had any problems. Very disappointed on the staff for not trying to help us out.
The location is great! Quiet secluded area and just a short 2 minute walk from the bustling downtown and Hidalgo Street and the hopping Playa Norte. My room was extremely clean daily and smelled of bleach after it was serviced, which I appreciated tremendously. The main pool is nice, but it could’ve used a daily cleaning. One day the water even turned green-ish before they finally decided to treat it. And one last thing that would’ve been nice would have been if they still offered the continental type of breakfast. You can find good breakfast nearby, but some mornings we wanted to just chill and relax. One last quirk is the way they run their pool/beach towels. They offer them only until noon and want them all returned by 8pm. We prefer to exchange beach towels throughout the day maybe a couple of times a day when on a trip like this, so the limited hours of availability was disappointing.
Great place to stay in Isla Mujeres. Partner hadn't traveled much outside the US and Europe. She was happy and wants to travel again. Probably the strongest endorsement for any place.
Quiet Could offer food or all inclusive
A wonderful quiet little corner of the Island. Staff is wonderful! Everything is clean. Perfect for the price. Great location.
Yes
Location location location
Location is great! Staff very nice! Property needs a little TLC. Pool needs to be cleaned - never saw any pool service, cleaning, skimming or chemical balancing. Room #30 Linen’s, towels, Sparse and could use replacing- well used, super thin or stained. shower head needs to be cleaned or replaced- also zero water pressure. Bed way too bouncy- seems old. We’d book again due to location, but hope they do some basic upgrades or updates.
The hotel is quaint and could be a great hotel but the staff were terrible. The location is walking distance to Centro and Play Norte. It was clean and the view from our room was fantastic. The amenities were lacking. Very small bar, that did not have tonic and was out of wine. You cannot swim in the ocean off this beach. The reason I would not go back is the attitude of the staff. I felt we were bothering them for anything I asked for. From checking in to checking out, it just felt like they did not want us there. I needed help accessing the internet and the front desk just gave me a blank stare, like figure it our yourself. Thankfully I guest helped me. It is a shame because I believe this could be a perfect little spot if the staff were nicer.
4th time staying hwre and never disappoints. Love it!
excellent location, great pool and view
Quiet, off the beaten path
loved our stay at Playa la Media Luna. the hotel was lovely stayed in the Palm section king bed partial view my compadres stayed in the palm garden rooms basically the same rooms but the palm rooms have two full/queen sized beds the views of the ocean are about the same a shout out to the staff at Media Luna especially Wizzer,Franco, and Jeni any issues we had were resolved prontito. thanks so much for making our stay so enjoyable and special. M & V
Loved Franco the bartender. Floors in room were really dirty, had to wear sandals in room at all times. Toilets flushed half the time. Nice location close to the north beach. Overall would book again but there are. very amenities here.
Our stay was wonderful!
Great location, pool was nice. The bedding needs to be replaced as does the mattresses in room 11. We found the property to be quite run down and could use some TLC. Could be a great hotel….
I love this hotel. Private beach. Close to everything. Beautiful views. My favorite place to stay!
Liked. It is uniquely located in a remote quiet corner of the overcrowded and noisy Centro, but close to beaches and restaurants. Enjoyed beautiful sunrises. This property is a gem for families. Attractive bar area with a friendly young bartender. Personnel is amiable and helpful. Disliked: king size bed too soft and uncomfortable.
Location was good, looking out over the sea.
I really liked the location and the fact that we lucked out with a first floor walk out. I just loved that ability to be in and out of the room easily. The view and breeze as you entered the lobby took our breath away every single time. It was just gorgeous! I'm used to staying mid-island but wouldn't hesitate to stay here again. I really loved it.
All about location and views. This property has both
We enjoyed our stay at this property. North beach and lots of restaurant options were walkable. The bed was comfy. I wasn’t a fan of the pillows but when in paradise who cares! We would definitely stay here again.
One of the best spots on the island! The hotel is a bit long in the tooth, for example some of our glass structures were broken and has caution tape about the deck of our King Hot tub suite. The handle fell off the sink, bed was a bit too broken in. BUT! If a few minor issues don't bother you then look no further. PS. You cannot swim in the ocean in the front of the hotel. There are signs posted about riptides and they a ferocious. Still, a fantastic place to catch sun, gather shells, and dip your toes.
Great stay as always!
This was a great location, walkable to all the action and ferry and golf cart rentals.
This place was quiet, comfy bed, clean room, great service. The shower was hot and had good pressure. Great place to stay. We plan to come back.
I liked the property but it was never anyone in the front desk to talk to or even to complain. It was very low key entry and it seemed that anyone could just go use the pool if they wanted to. We expected a lot more from our room. We got a oceon view room and it was not like it was advertised. It was very simple room. The two double beds were very unconfortable. The matresses were terrible. The shower head of the room needed to be replaced and the shower door would not close and make the whole bathroom entry wet. We complained about the shower head but they cleaned up and put the same one in place. In the next day it was acting up again. The air conditioned outside needed upgrade. It was terrible to even look at. The water from the focet and shower smelled so much like bleach that our bodies and room was smelly too. I have a problem with smell of bleach and I had a hard time sleeping because of the bathroom and bedroom smell. The pool was cold and I did not see anyone cleanning the pool not even once. We stayed for 7 nights and nada. The pool was not warm and they did not have a Jacuzzi. The good thing of the hotel was the view. The ocean view was awesome. It seemed very safe and quite. It was close to the restaurants and bars. In general we liked but the bedroom needs upgrade.
Enjoyed the property! Clean , quaint, and great service! Had everything we needed and conveniently located with a golf cart. Walking to and from at night May not have been as comfortable as it was with a golf cart! Very happy with our stay! No elevators if u have to stay in 3rd floor but we were on 1st so that was super !
Beautiful hidden gem. Construction area before hotel makes it hard to find. Great pool. Friendly staff. You can’t swim in the ocean but the public beach is around the corner .
Bueno, bonito y barato.
This hotel was a hidden gem. It is conveniently located within a short walk of town (restaurants, etc) but tucked away off the beaten path. It is very quiet. The pool is lovely and the beach views are gorgeous. During a late evening swim, we had the privilege of watching as a huge sea turtle walked out of the ocean, dug a hole, and laid her eggs! It was a beautiful thing to experience. (Several other turtles did the same, but one was literally about 10 feet from the edge of the pool). The rooms were clean and comfortable. We were very happy with the hotel and will definitely return.
This property is a tourist trap, avoid this property at all costs. Pros: The swimming pool is good The air conditioning and refrigerator work well. Cons: Staff at the front desk ( careless ) The entrance to the hotel is under construction and unsafe to walk through at night. The construction workers' camp is on the side of the street before entering the hotel. No elevator, Door that communicates to the room next door in case of fire lack of safety. The lack of water pressure, Hot water sometimes took more than three minutes to start the flow of water. Shampoo was terrible Never saw anyone on the beach to danger to swim. Too many rocks and waves. The front door of the room was very flimsy. No phone in the room
Definitely would come back.
Location location location !!! Beautiful. Small things would make a huge difference. Changing out lightbulbs. Shower door leaked water. Broken glass on patio. No shade on outside area. Great stay. Value and location!
Great trip to Isla Mujeres
Had a great stay. My room was very very clean and it was surprisingly spacious. I was surprised by how many hangers we got (women appreciate this). The service we received was great. The only 3 things I was disappointed about was 1. No restaurant in hotel property, which means you must leave the property for food or drinks. 2. Too much Algae on their side of the beach. I understand it's mother nature but perhaps they could come up with some nets to keep some of the algae out. Luckily, the hotel is within walking distance from Playa Norte, where No Algae in sight. 3. During my stay they were working on their entrance road. I'm sure it will look great when it's finish but right now during construction it was a bit of an inconvenience. Information about the algae and any construction around their property would have been helpful. But I must emphasize that the service we received more than made up for any inconvenience. The staff was very friendly from the front desk to the housekeeping. Making plans already for our next stay with them.
The balcony and the view are what make this hotel desirable. Beautiful view and nice (but not always perfectly clean) pool before the beach. Note to others - the beach in front of the hotel is a great view but the water is not swimmable - rocky and dangerous tides.
Great Manager made up for initial issues
The first room we were given had not been cleaned properly, and the cleaner had left a filthy rag on the bathroom vanity. It also had no privacy and very tired beds. I was upset by the level of uncleanliness. The manager moved us to a much better room with better beds and privacy. Plus they re-cleaned the new room to make sure it was decent for us. New room was lovely. On a small courtyard with a semi private lap pool.
Cute and quaint hotel vibes
We enjoyed this hotel so much. It would have been nice had they include breakfast but we did get a hot cuppa coffee in the lobby in the morning. The pool stayed quiet and always able to find a sun bed to rest in. The location is walkable to great snorkeling beaches as well as grocery and restaurants. Our room was very spacious with a well working AC unit. The bathroom looked fairly modern and not outdated or old. This was not a resort with tons of people so you felt a very relaxed vibe. If you’re looking to chill with great views, you can definitely do that here! I will absolutely stay at this place again.
The property was in a great location. Beach & beautiful too. Bar was barely open & when it was they didn't have much of a selection. They had a nice drink menu but everything we picked they didn't have. Beach tiwels were frayed & shabby. Had no hand towels in room. Housekeeping was excellent.
Overall a great stay!
We had a great estay at Playa Media la Luna. Location is great, it’s within walking distance from many restaurants /stores. It wasn’t too crowded which was nice. We really enjoyed our stay. Only negative I saw was that no breakfast is offered. However there are restaurants nearby that serve excellent breakfast.
Property was alright but needs to be maintained better and needs a lot of upgrades.

Can’t wait to return!
AMAZING STAY! The staff is so friendly and the property is beautiful! It’s quiet and yet close to shopping and dining.
