Service
We liked the excellent service provided by the owners of Hotel Pax, especially by Grace and Antonio. Their restaurant Ristorante Medoevo, just around the corner, was wonderful as well. What we didn't like was that there wasn't a Do Not Disturb sign, no tissues provided in the room, and only one wastebasket in the large suite.
Hotel Pax - a peaceful & quiet hotel in Assisi
Hotel Pax is a wonderful hotel for a stay in Assisi. It's close to the Piazza del Commune and most of the major churches, monasteries, and convents in the old city of Assisi. The Basilica of Saint Francis is about 12 mins away. My single occupancy twin bed room was small but fine. The bed was very comfortable! The bathroom was spacious and clean. The shower stall was a bit tight for my size, but that is a common experience in Italy (and France). The breakfast buffet was well stocked with all kinds of Italian and continental breakfast items and was very much to my liking. The service was exceptional, very friendly and efficient. The hotel also has a restaurant, Ristorante Medioevo, around the corner which I also can recommend. The food was delicious and the service was great. If I have the chance in the future, I'll visit both places again.
A lovely hotel in the heart of Assisi. Best location one can imagine. Great service, full (Italian) breakfast including coffee options. Beds are firm/hard, but for us that was ok. Showers are small, typical of Italy. Highly recommend!
A very well located property, professionally run by the owner Antonio and his delightful family. The family also run a great restaurant just metres away.
We loved Hotel Pax. The hotel is family owned and they were so friendly and accommodating. Our room was quiet, clean and comfortable. Great location. We plan to stay here on our next trip to Assisi.
Hotel Pax is a homey, beautiful family run hotel in the perfect location (near St. Clare's Basilica). We absolutely loved our stay and would highly recommend to anyone visiting Assisi!
Duncan
The stay was very good the only problem was the ac units had been shut down for the season and the room was very hot 24 degrees and you could not open the windows as there were no screens and the mosquito were still bad. Great location easy walking distance to all places and the restaurant attached was very good. Breakfast was good even had hard boiled eggs which is a very rare thing in Italy it appears that no one eats a big breakfast here only pastries and coffee
Staff and Hotel were great. Went beyond to make us comfortable
So awesome to be right in the middle of Venice! Great hotel!!! Fantastic breakfast!!!
Antonio and his family were such wonderful host!! They made it feel like you were staying with family!! Would highly recommend their hotel.
BE AWARE THAT YOU ARE STAYING IN AN MEDIEVAL CITY ON TOP OF A MOUNTAIN WITH STEEP HILLS. THE HOTEL RECEPTION CLOSES AT 2000 hours (8pm) but you can still reach the reception via WhatsApp. Parking is not connected to the hotel and you must climb a steep hill to walk back from the parking lot to the Hotel. Parking is ONLY 12 Euros/night though and less than 3 minute walk to the hotel. :) I recommend renting a car or taxi to get here, otherwise you will be dragging your bags up a long and steep hill. After expecting these few factors, this hotel is lovely. It is newly renovated and approximately a 5 to 15 minute walk to any part of the city. The room has its own air conditioning unit (thats controlled by you), windows have blackout shades and comes with toiletries. The food both in the restaurant and the included breakfast was excellent. I believe that their restaurant is the best in Italy and no, they are not paying me to say this. The owners of the hotel do speak English unlike other hotels. They are also the most patient and kind people you will talk to. They were willing to go above and beyond to make our stay memorable and even assisted us with carrying our bags up the hill into our hotel. We will definitely stay here again when visiting Assissi!!! Thank you Hotel Pax!!!
This property is owned and run by a lovely Family. The are great hosts
Very friendly family run hotel. Convenient and quiet location. Would highly recommend.
What really makes this modest hotel in a fully renovated 900-year-old rich family's house (at a very modest price) so wonderful is the kind and informative hospitality of the owner, Antonio Scaliotti, and his children Graziella and Eduardo. Upon arrival, Antonio fully briefed us, using a map, on the important sites in Assisi, covering not only location and opening hours, but also their significance. Illustrative of the whole enterprise is that guests are trusted to use the bar on an honor system. If you want the ultimate in 21st Century luxuries, the Hotel Pax is not for you. If you want to engage in the spirit of Assisi, this is the place for you. The family also runs a restaurant right around the corner, which can be welcome after all the ups and downs of Assisi's streets.
This was such a great family owned hotel where it felt like you were at home. Graziella, Antonio, Eduardo & Matilde were great in making their guests felt welcome. Highly recommend Hotel Pax and their restaurant, Medioevo. Thank you & muito obrigado!!!
Well located. Friendly staff with great service. Beautiful Assisi
The hotel is in a great location right in the center of town and within walking distance to all the sites.
An incredible surprise!
The owners went above and beyond our expectations, outstanding customer service. When Google Maps and the car navigation systems directed us to an impassable-barrow medieval road we had to leave it in a no Parking’s zone. The hotel owner knowing we were late was standing outside his hotel looking for us. After checking us in he walked with us to get our car and escorted us to their private parking space. The restaurant recommendation led to the best meal we had in an amazing 6 day tour of Italy! I recommend this place if you plan to stay in Assisi. I know my family will stay at Hotel Pax
The owners and staff made us feel like family. They were extremely helpful. It is easy to get a taxi to take you and your luggage to your door. The location is at the piazza of Santa Maria Maggiore ... just steps from the Chiesa Nueva and the central Piazza ... in other words ... perfect!!!!
Beautiful interior! Stone arches and lovely decor. Of note, to get to the elevator you still have to walk up a small flight of stairs and bfast is down a flight, not elevator accessible. So not handicapped ;)
We loved our stay at Hotel Pax, it was truly a hidden gem in Assisi! The location is excellent and is near the main square, shops, restaurants, and basilicas. Not to mention, the staff are super helpful and friendly, they helped us reserve at restaurants, gave recommendations, and ensured we enjoyed our stay. Our rooms were clean and well sized. Next time we are in Assisi we hope to stay here again : )
Perfect place to stay in Assisi
The perfect place to stay when you’re in Assisi!!! This family run hotel is amazing. Right in the heart of the city, you can’t go pass Hotel Pax. Excellent service, great location and everything you need - will definitely stay here again.
Much recommended
Excellent hotel. Very pleasant stay.
Very nice hotel. Minutes to sightseeing, shopping, and restaurants. Exceptionally clean with a very friendly staff. Great location.
Absolutely perfect!
Absolutely perfect! The location is fantastic! We got a taxi from the station to the door of the hotel. A family run hotel. Grace on the desk made us very welcome and answered our questions in perfect English. She helped us to take our bags to the elevator. (Love that elevator after stairs at our other hotels.) Antonio, the father, is charming and only too happy to help with anything that he can. Matilda is the mother and was delightful. At breakfast, we were served by Jacob, who was newly married to the beautiful Grace. He was also happy to book us a taxi for our departure. Breakfast was good and plentiful. The hotel is very old and beautifully restored. Tasteful artwork on display. Absolutely spotless. Our room was very comfortable. Beautiful furnishings. Air conditioned. We were able to walk everywhere to see all of the sights. Lots of beautiful restaurants in the square nearby. We took lots and lots of photos in this stunning location. Highly, highly recommend this hotel.
Excellent experience
The hotel and room/bathroom were amazing - clean and comfortable, nicely decorated. The customer service was excellent, from the time we checked in until the time we left. I believe it is run by a family, who were all very freindly, helpful and accommodating. Also, the breakfast was fantastic - fresh pastries, fruit, meat, cheese and made-to-order cappuccino. Would definitely stay here again!
Excellent hospitality
Excellent service and very helpful staff. Very caring owner and his daughter
Really helpful family run hotel. Arranged dinner reservations, suggested places to visit. Really nice.
Great Small Hotel
This hotel is located in the heart of the old city of Assisi. The owners bend over backwards to make sure one has a great experience.
Wonderful location. Very helpful staff. Beautiful room.
Very nice location; a little off of the main streets, so quiet. The staff were very friendly, very helpful, and patiently indulged me in my poor Italian, even though they spoke English quite well. Accommodations and breakfast were quite basic but quite good. I very much enjoyed my stay and would stay there again.
great location, ownerand family were sweet and helpful. Rooms were pretty basic and limited heat available but had extra blanket so okay.
We missed two trains from Roma Termini, Antonio, the Owner and manager was waiting for us late to welcome us. He and his son Edwardo made us feel as long lost friends coming home again. The Hotel is a 600 year old structure renovated yet keeping its medieval charm. The whole experience was charming from the beginning to end.
Very nice local area , the hosts are nice but place needs a little updating . Location is good , clean but very basic .
Five days in Assisi
We had a great experience at Hotel Pax. The location is centrally located and ideal for touring Assisi and the surrounding area. Antonio (owner) and his daughter Grace were extremely helpful and went out of their way to recommend restaurants and local hikes. They helped my husband accommodate a dietary restriction on salt and were concerned for our comfort. They were very friendly too. We would definitely recommend this hotel. Only upgrade we’d suggest is around breakfast. Breakfast was a standard Italian menu and could benefit from a few hard boiled eggs and an additional type of cereal.
owner could not have been more helpful. son and daughter who help run it were delightful!
The manager/owner at the front desk was extremely helpful. He spent considerable time with a map showing is the local highlights with recommendations. The room was comfortable.
Peaceful in Assisi
The family run Hotel Pax is on a quiet street close to the center of the main piazza in Assisi. We were given a warm welcome and great service from the family members who spoke several languages. Breakfast had choices of pastries, meat and cheese and delicious coffee. It could be improved with a choice of hard boiled eggs or yogurt also. A very great plus in convenience was the nearby parking and the elevator for luggage. All in all, it was a great place to stay.
Excellent hotel
The hotel was charming and centrally located, the family who owns the place was so nice and friendly! They’ve given us great information and help not only for our visit to Assisi, but also for other parts of our trip to Italy, excellent excellent!!!
This is a charming medieval hotel which we loved. Close to everything, beautifully decorated, wonderful and helpful staff. Highly recommend!
Amazing hotel. We absolutely loved the owners and the location could not have been more perfect!
The room had a softer mattress that we had experienced in several other hotels in earlier in the month -- it was much more4 comfortable. The hotel staff is outstanding. The entrance into the shower was pretty narrow. A 100 kg person might have much difficulty with it. Beyond that, the hotel gets top marks.
Great place to stay
Great family run hotel, very hospitable people. Nice central location. Hope to stay here again.
Close to main Piazza and best restaurants.
Owners are new and very eager to please. Several of them speak excellent English. You can't go wrong here.
Warm n Caring Hotel Onwer
When the owner of the hotel found that I was overcharged by the taxi driver from the railway station to the hotel; the normal charge was E15 but I was charged E25. The owner went out of his way to track the taxi driver and managed to get the taxi driver to charge me only E5 for the return to the railway station. He waited for my family to get into the taxi made sure that I paid only E5. The hotel run by his Daughter n him was clean n cosy n the breakfast was very good. I will strongly advise future travellers to stay at Hotel Pax if the visit Assisi
Delightful
This is a delightful family owned hotel. The father/daughter team are helpful and speak excellent English. I will stay there again next time I visit Assisi.
Lovely hotel. Excelent service.
The htl is a lovely medieval building, served by family owners. Rooms are confortable, breakfast can be better. Service and attitude excellent.
Excellent overall!!!
Very helpful staff, comfy, clean modern room, amazing, AMAZING breakfast!!! Fabulous central location...
Most friendly hotel ever!
Antonio, the owner and his daughter Grace were the most welcoming hotel staff I have ever known. Antonio himself jumped in our car to help guide us through the complicated streets of Assisi to find parking that was provided by the hotel. They both gave us helpful suggestions and directions for what to see and how best to accomplish our goals. Antonio's suggestion for dinner ( and his helpful reservations) was one of the best meals I've ever enjoyed. Charming and character filled hotel that we would return to in a heartbeat!
Great family tinned hotel.
Antonio and family are great hosts. Made our stay in Assisi very enjoyable. Great value in historic area.
Perfect location
Not easy to find but nicely located near the main plazas and parking. Most rooms do not have a view but Rm 52 does have a view of the valley. Rooms are small by clean and comfortable. Family business with everyone very friendly and helpful.
Fantastic ! Enjoy Assisi, one of the most well-cared Italian towns I've ever visited. Hotel Pax is the right place to stay; smack in the heart of town, with family atmosphere and most supportive of all your endeavors. Very much appreciated !
Wonderful place to stay in Assisi
Assisi is a wonderful medieval town, and Hotel Pax is a cozy, friendly, and well-run place to stay there. My girlfriend and I were the only guests on our first night there, and the owner stayed late to check us in, as we had a bit of trouble getting there on the bus system. She was extremely friendly and helpful, and she told us some of the town's and hotel's history as we ate breakfast. We stayed for two nights, and the owner helped us find the major attractions and arranged for our cab back to the train station. The building itself is a wonderfully charming masonry construction and is in good condition. The location is very central in the town, though keeping with the medieval layout, the hotel can be a bit tough to find. We might have gotten lost without the aid of some friendly residents. Just a couple of minor issues. WiFi was unreliable, and the heating was on a somewhat confusing automatic system. I don't know if I will ever be back in Assisi, but if I am, I will definitely try Hotel Pax again.
Wonderful hospitality in a very special place
Charming accommodations in the heart of the old city, but the best part of the experience was the manager of this small, family-run hotel. He was wonderfully warm, friendly and helpful (and fluent in six languages), and made us feel very welcome. We had parked a good distance outside of the city the day we arrived, and the day we departed he even offered to drive us to our car. By far our favorite stay of a 5-city trip.
Bello
Was a very great experience
In the centre of old town
Assisi is an amazing place to see and this place is right in the centre of town It's run by small family and they do a great job, full of information, speaks great English happy to tell you were to go and how to get there and does an amazing breakfast Allow a few extra days here you will love it
Beautiful family run hotel
Great location near the center of town. Easy walking to the cathedrals in Assisi. Family that owns the hotel are very nice and helpful and speak many languages. Would highly recommend.
It was excellent
really great. owner signore, his wife & his daughter Grace are so gracious and reaching out. Grace is especially knowledgeable. everyone speak s several languages. place is good enough and centrally located. has an elevator too. breakfast & coffees were very very good indeed. they are changing the name of the hotel to 'Pax'. I will surely recommend this hotel and will also like to stay here again.
VERY HELPFUL STAFF
All good except we found it a little difficult to locate
A lovely quiet place to stay, the owner of the place is particularly kind and helpful. The place was very clean. The breakfast generous like the owner. I certainly will stay here again.
Good location
Very nice location and good value for the price. A filling breakfast and adequate room although a little small.
Luigi (the owner) was AWESOME!
This hotel is fabulous! Luigi was like a personal tour guide and steered us to MANY wonderful restaurants and sights. The rooms are very comfortable, it was a very quiet hotel, and it was a pleasure to stay here! The girl servicing the breakfast brought coffee service that was made from upstairs to others, however just told us (U.S. Citizens) to use the machine. The machine coffee was fine, but it was odd treatment.
Really very nice hotel with a fantastic location
The location is superb and the building itself absolutely charming. Luigi the owner was fantastic - really very friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. All his tips were excellent; just what we needed. He was also very accomodating in billing matters. Highly recommended.
We stayed for only one night. Everyone was very nice.
Assisi
Great location, great manager, ok breakfast, uncomfortable beds, huge dust "bunnies" on the floor
We visited Assisi for the night on our way from the north to south of Italy. It is a beautiful place and we regret not having more time to explore. The staff at the hotel were lovely and helped us with everything we needed. This included helping us find the car park for our car, ensuring that we got a discounted rate on parking (7€), helping with wifi and even discussing the Italian language with us. The room was larger than a standard hotel room and there was a lot of space for our luggage. The bed was hard, but this seems to be a common theme throughout Italian hotels. The town of Assisi itself is not extremely large, so the location of the hotel was fine for visiting any part of the town without too much walking. The hotel itself is located on a pedestrian only street, so thankfully we had Google Maps to help with finding it. Having said that, I would not consider this a reason not to stay there. While we were there, we overheard that the restaurant in the hotel itself was closed as there were not enough people staying there. I would assume that during the high season this would be different.
Quiet, safe basic hotel
We found the hotel to be pleasant. Its location was great and breakfast was adequate. However, we we in a top floor attic room with an elevator that stopped at one floor lower. In this room you had to duck your head to move around the end of the bed. We called it "the Troll room." I don't know what the other rooms were like.
Close to sites
The hotel is within walking distance of all the major sites in Assis. The hotel staff is very helpfull and will answer any questions. Like most hotels in Assis you cannot park close to the hotel. The parking is 300 meters away and you need to carry your luggage up stone stairs and through cobble stone sidewalks.
Assisi Will Take You Back
A great little hotel in the center of Assisi. The restaurant was closed but the hostess in the morning provided a cheerful "Buongiorno " and a croissant in the morning. The breakfast buffet more than ample. The free use of the internet was a plus before exploring the other hill towns.
Great Service
Almost impossible to find from the directions on the website but the helpfulness of the receptionist was astounding. Having abandoned our car in Assisi's impossible one-way system through the historic centre to find the hotel by foot, she greeted us warmly and quickly locked up the hotel to come with us to guide us back. Few residents, small basic room, but excellent service and very close to the centre.

A cidade é maravilhosa . Voltaria e ficaria no hotel Pax
Buon hotel a conduzione famigliare, molto gentili e premurosi.
Local e atendimento excelente. Valeu a pena.
Estupendo
Excelente experiencia.
Feels like home, excellent service
We stayed here 5 years ago, and wanted to stay at Hotel Pax again. Grace and her father (the owners) treat you like family, and are so helpful, friendly and kind. They were very accomodating in allowing us to drop off luggage early before check-in, had great restaurant suggestions when asked, and even helped us find a store to buy some walking sticks when my daughter hurt her foot. I would highly recommend this place.
