Very good overall, except food service was very slow and food was not all that good.
It was truly disappointing the water temperature because it was barely warm for the bathtub inside the room as well as the hot tubs outside near the pools.

Need hot
This place is adorable. Very hippy vibe. The staff were very friendly. We stayed in the treehouse and it was very cool.
Were here outside and nobody answers
It's an amazing place if one would prefer to feel the joy of nature and man's creation!!
It’s our first time in Costa Rica and we enjoyed it was a really nice experience Like they say " pura vida “
It was cozy and affordable. Could use some upgrades.
Great stay. Which the Jacuzzis actually worked. Its a water park open to the public so be prepared for it to be packed. Other than that we had a great time.
Overall the property would be nice if they did some major upgrades. The jacuzzi doesn’t work properly and when we asked for help it took them a long time. The rooms are in need of major upgrades the beds were terrible the shower had no warm water and the sink was leaking water.
I stayed there for 5 days. There’s no AC so it’s very hot during the day and you’re freezing at night. The pools are dirty and the jacuzzis even worse. The place needs lots of work. The outside it’s beautiful to walk around, but definitely would not stay here again. The restaurant has decent food, but the staff was not too friendly. There’s no one at the reception after 7pm so if you need anything you’re out of luck until the following day. Towels are only provided if you request them and only one per guest. They were dirty and smelled funny too. If you’re staying here def bring your own towels and extra blankets. The beds were not comfortable and pillows were super hard. I stayed at the tree house. Even though it’s beautiful to look out from the outside, the inside needs lots of work. The hot tub looked filthy.
Rooms not very taking care of
Perfect I love it
It was an ok stay, pools and jacuzzi fine, rooms are ok for sleeping only, there were no amenities in the room (just beds and tv), misleading it was said in the description there will be a tub, kitchenette and chemenee
I reserved “The tree house” which is not a treehouse in reality, its basically a two-family apartment which your sleep will be diaturbed because everything is heard from one floor to the other. There is no staff after 7PM, which means there is no reception, no one to go to for a complaint if there is anything wrong. The “HOT WATER” only works for approximately 60 seconds. Freezing cold water after that. The reception young lady with long-black hair, light brown eyes has a terrible attitude. This place is a terrible mess. Disgusting.
Stayed in s tree house overlooking san Jose. The Jacuzzi was awesome beds are ok. Bathroom is basic. Kitchen unit is basic
This property was beyond disappointing. On arrival we were told that our nido room was already reserved and that that wasn’t there fault even though the pictures on the reservation clearly show that room.. we were then given the tree house room which turned out to be inhabitable and disgusting!! There were hairs on the walls the bed sheets were dirty and had holes on them the “jacuzzi” smelled like grey water and was filthy! There were cockroaches in the bathroom and the hot water didn’t work!! Our deck was unfinished and under construction..That’s on top of a very unfriendly stuff and most of the “facilities” were shut down we encounter empty pools abandoned canopy bridges and very strange circus like cut outs all over the property... I payed almost $300 for this place and had to leave within the second day I wouldn’t recommend this to ANYBODY! This stayed was by far the WORST of any of our travel experiences!
Overall a good place to stay, especially for the price. There is a lot to do there and I loved all of the nearby hiking trails in a beautiful area. A few downsides, I didn't come across any staff member that spoke any English, so communication was difficult; there is only one on-site restaurant; and the other guests can be loud, and the walls are pretty thin. The reason only having one restaurant was a disadvantage is because have dietary restrictions, which were difficult to work around with the limited menu.
Warm up with hottubs and Don
A really amazing family resort with many pools, kids activities, and extensive grounds. Don is just the best caretaker and showed us how to walk to their private water fall. The rest of the staff were ok but not overly helpful. Beds are made of broken springs from 1980s.the tree house is this amazing , but rustic, adventure. Highly recommend getting that room. Hottubs everywhere!
Accessibility for handicapped was limited but they did make the best they could by changing our room to an apartment with no stairs or steep inclines and parking next to the room. It is a mountain resort so the inclines are steep. We were only staying a short while so we didn’t try to get to the pool, etc. Nice view!
The property is amazing but not maintained
The restaurant staff not berry very friendly ask for a coffee for my mom she is diabetic ordered at the bar counter in the restaurant they said they only have coffe from machine whe are in costa rica we produced coffee and they tell me they dont serve coffe only on breakfast
Lugar muy relajante, buen clima, buena vista y armonía visual
It’s a great idea, but the execution is poor. The hot tubs and pools are all cracked and dirty. There is no maid service. You have to get your own sheets and towels each day. Breakfast is greasy and expensive.
The location is nice, lots of nature around the property. Staff was friendly, food was OK. However some 'attractions' were closed and it looked like some areas could be given better maintenance. Beds were terrible and we woke up with back aches. There was a sewer-like smell in my brother's room coming from the bathtub drain when it was left uncovered.
Wowzas
Great place! Got upgraded to a cabana on my last night, absolutely gorgeous!
Hotel Monte Campana
Great service and the views were fab. Great food in the restaurant. Location is a bit far from shops or other restaurants. Pools were great fun.
Beautiful views, lots of pools, waterslides were fun!
I liked the view of the property. Also, the people at the desk are amazing. Everyday we were greated and helped with our itinerary.
It’s nice, beautiful place, nice staff, very quiet, just i looking for
Wir hatten eine schöne Zeit. Das Essen im Restaurant war sehr gut und das Personal freundlich.
Everything was amazing, clean place, quiet and the access is not that difficult
This places has a lot of warm water jacussis 2 big swimming pools, water slice, great food at the restaurant, beautifull view
They have Excelente view, very good food, nice rooms,
A must stay great hotel for family with children
Really amazing place. I have been visiting and living in Costa Rica since 2009. Most people think Arenal or Jaco but if you want a really relaxed mountain jungle experience, where your children will never be bored then this is the place. Great water park with great slides plus many hot tub pools for a great view of the sunset. This is a rustic mountain resort with cabins that have real fire places (they even have cut wood in bins for you to use. They have a full restaurant and bar and the prices are amazing. 5 beers and chicken Nachos for $10-12 depending on exchange rate. Owner really cares about you having a great time. I stayed here about 4 separate times and on one visit was not that satisfied with checkin or service. The owner reached out and contacted me and fixed everything. Great owner great place, a must stay for Costa Rica vacation.
Was ok.staff was pleasant. Facility needs some work.
Great Hotel, Great Owner and Great For Family
If you are visiting Costa Rica and have children then this hotel is a must. The owner is amazing and really cares about you and your family enjoying your time. Water park on the property is amazing. Also try the Zip line and paintball all.located on the property
Good
Nice place to stay.
Great stay
It was fun for the kids to stay in this hotel.
Great stay
This place is beautiful and fun! The room was clean and cozy.
The site is excellent, with nice swimming pools, sight on San Jose, nice garden, spacy rooms. And the boss is really nice, has his meals there, so you know were to find him. He has allways a solution for you !
Parking is a bit of a challenge and as an old guy had to carry my bags up a long hill to my room. Arriving at this room away from the noise of the world wad worth it though once I got to relax and enjoy the amazing scenic night view(s). The bar restaurant has a great menu and reasonable (for a hotel/resort) prices. The room is great and has a Jacuzzi!!!!
Me and my friend booked this hotel for 5 days and ended up staying one night and canceling the rest of the nights. I talked to the manager before I left and she said she was going to refund me for the rest of the nights. Expedia then called me to say I was only receiving 50 percent of my refund. She lied about the refund and I think is because of the review I left them. The check in is at 3pm we got there around 12 pm so we couldn’t check in. The sad thing is nobody was staying in our room so they could have let us in earlier. We stayed at another “fancier” hotel and their check in was also at 3pm and they let us check in at 10am. The location of this hotel is very far from local strip shops and restaurants. I wouldn’t recommend staying here knowing there are so many options out there! Our room did not have hot water and the bathtub was dirty. The staff was friendly and their restaurant did have good food but that’s about it. Don’t stay here, go somewhere else unless you want to look at trees for the rest of your trip.
The Pot of Gold at the end of the Rainbow 🌈
From arrival to check-out I was welcomed & cared for. Following a lengthy flight which unexpectedly arrived after the specified check-in time I was a little amped up, but was quickly greeted by security who kindly checked me in and safely showed me to my breathtaking room (WHAT A VIEW!) Don who works on-site is a blessing; showing a real desire to share good vibes & ensure a positive guest experience. Thank you. The traditional Costa Rican breakfast is delicious and lasted me two meals! Visit the waterfall (it's a short hike within walking distance), do everything; pools, water slides, several hot tubs with ample privacy, hiking, zipping, paintball, perhaps there's more ... In fact, I'm considering forfeiting my last night stay elsewhere so I get one more nibble of this beautiful Costa Rican resort - Highly Recommend! Close enough to the airport. Y'all really set the tone here 🌿 Pura Vida
It was ok for one night. 20 mins drive to airport.
terrible staff, terrible service, terrible food
Terrible service from front desk check in to restaurant. Food not only cold and disgusting but dangerous to eat spoiled old food. Room are dirty and falling apart. There is a difference between rustic cabin and a getto shack. No hot water cold showers were painful especially for the kids. Water park is ok but very dirty and dangerous for kids to walk, swim and play in. Not enough chairs and tables for people to put their items on and security is poor as you need to watch your stuff at all times so it is not to be stolen. To many people are let into the park as it is opened to the public as well as hotel guest.
Beware!!!!!!!!! This property will advertise free breakfast with your stay which is NOT true!!!!! We booked the upstairs tree house which was sort of dark and gloomy but ok considering there were bugs inside but hey it's surrounded by trees. The people below us in the cabin had a fireplace and the moment they lit that puppy up SMOKE engulfed our upstairs tree house making it impossible to BREATH! The breakfast is typical tico and their amenities are
It's an ok place for a short trip or just get out of the city. Food was good and the kids had fun, that was the main thing.
William at Hotel Monte Campana Heredia
I gave a review after my first of two nights stay, in which I gave my comment of the hotel as being 'pretentious.' I still have that view as a non-Costa Rican, but can see its appeal for the local population. Maintenance was poor: we had a Jacuzzi, king bed suite, but how much fun is a Jacuzzi tub which will contain water only to a depth of 3 inches? - as the tub stopper let water by as fast as the faucets could replenish it!! Such matters were so off-putting that we didn't really explore much of the facility. I did observe a number of 'Sky walking' entertainments which, as an engineer, I considered to be absolutely dangerous, and which would certainly not be permitted in the US without considerable additional safety precautions. It definitely wasn't for me.
What a pleasant surprise! I loved this place, and had a really great time. If you're looking for a lively stay, with beautiful views, this is perfect! Hey Don :)
Great place for families and couples close to San José but away from the city.
Rethink this!
Language barrier that was not identified prior to booking prior to booking. (One of my main requirement was that it had an English speaking attend) (One of my only 2 prerequisites was air conditioning and this also was not available) To despite all that already going wrong! The staff was rude and not helpful even with my mother-in-law (Costa Rican) translating.
Not as close to the airport as I thought,...but not the worst. Good place to stay for a couple nights. It's great for families with kids since there are quite a few pools/activities to keep them entertained. We stayed in the tree house. It has nice views though our water was quite cold.
There was so much on the property. You’re never bored.
Everyone was very friendly and helpful. It was a beautiful and well maintained property with so many fun things to do on site. My son and I stayed for a week and had an amazing time! Beautiful location with beautiful views.
The first room we were in had no light, only on the bathroom, so they moved us to another room, everything seemed ok, but then I found there was no hot water. Also there was someone smoking pot outside the building.
Great range of resort facilities at reasonable $
Super mountaintop location with a good range of resort facilities. Helpful to have a car to visit all the nearby natural attractions: la Paz waterfall gardens, Braullio Carrillo Nature Preserve, Cafe Britt coffee tour etc. Reasonably priced bar and restaurant and solid buffet breakfast. Nice place to interact with locals because it is very popular with vacationing and day tripping families of Ticos (Costa Ricans)!
very nice hotel with great view
Great view of San Jose from the cooler mountains. very good swimming facilities and Jacuzzis. Very nice restaurant, good food, balcony view of the valley. Staff very helpful and friendly. Highly recommended and a great value.
The REAL Costa Rica
What a great place. I had no idea there was so much to do here onsite. Zip line, paintball, waterslides, trail to a waterfall, great restaurant , Jacuzzis... I wish I had stayed here longer. Good base. Uber to city or airport from here for under$20 . If you want to see real Costa Rica, here it is.
Nice mountain hotel
We had a nice time at his hotel! Rooms are small and cozy! Excellent breakfast!!
Beautiful Hotel and Facilities
Beautiful and clean rooms, friendly and helpful staff. Lots of activities to chose from; zip lines, waterslides, several pools, trails, waterfall, and much more. I will definitely return. Also a great restaurant and bar!
Fun, quirky treehouse stay near airport
We booked the treehouse for our last night in Costa Rica. It was a quirky and fun place to stay, just what we hoped, and reminded us of Swiss Family Robinson books. Loads of space and a fantastic view, night and day. Inside bright and clean, outside could have done with a brush down. Included a fridge and microwave. The hotel has a number of spa tubs dotted around the pools - great during cooler winter weather when the pool was just that bit too cool to really enjoy (although the family enjoyed the slides for a short while). Food in the restaurant was basic and we wouldn't recommend eating at the hotel. Didn't explore local area but the hotel was less than 30 min drive to the airport for flying out, so location was perfect on this count.
shocked at how bad.
stayed in "tree house room." Boy do picture deceive. Facility in poor condition, no hot water, no comfortable place to sit on balcony. Overall: Depressing.
terrible experience
I got a reservation and paid in advanced for this and when we got there late at night after getting lost big time because of the darkness and dangerous roads, this old guy that look like he was homeless came out of the woods and it looked like the whole place had 1 light bulb and it was so dark that it was not funny and told us that he was the reception and that there was no office because it was closed. He got a wrinkled piece of paper out his pocket and told us that we did not have a reservation and for 20 dollars down payment he could give us a room, room that to get there we had to walk about 2-3 blocks up hill with luggage in pitch darkness. We were tired and of course couldn't put up with that so we left and had to spend the cost of a last minute reservation in an other hotel. I called them hundreds of times even from Costa Rica and they never pick up the phone. I threw my money out the window but I know now where not for nothing in the world go the next time that I visit Costa Rica.
Close to everything, private
Although this hotel is located close to the airport and all the city amenities it feels like being deeper in the rain forest, perhaps because is surrounded by nature everywhere you look. Very quiet location, room was clean as well as the rest of the facilities, striking views, relaxing pools and private Jacuzzis.
It was overall nice exept that they need to put a sign on the door when the office is closed after 10 to let people know that there is someone on the property and not go somewhere else to another hotel.
A stay you will remember.
Great scenery around hotel. Visited small town by foot. Excellent house keeping. Food in restaurant was excellent.
Needs more organization .
In this hotel, do not give any reference for walks or information of the surroundings; or what to do in the nearest towns or cities.
Location is nice and convenient.
The hotel offers a unique and very nice ground environment inside the rainforest and nude nature. The rooms are not very comfortable and excessive noise is presented mostly at night time. The staff at the reception is not competent and has not experience at all in customer service, so be ready to take their rudeness. Also it is recommended in the morning to chase around the maids and remind them to clean the room and provide cleaned towels. Food is ok, will be recommended to go out to Alajuela, Santa Barbara or San Jose area for a nice dining experience.
Santa Barbara hotel experience
When we arrived the hotel seemed nice but only one person that spoke broken English (my bad should learn more then banos and cervesa) the room had no door handle the bed was like sleeping in a soup bowl and the shower trickled out and I mean trickle. Barking dogs kept us up most of the night. Nice pool and descent breakfast
good hotel in the mountains
Beautiful views of San Jose and the other towns in the valley, great food and plenty of recreational activities especially if you have children or teenagers, hiking, waterfalls, hot tubs, swimming pools, zip lines, etc.
Montecampana needs more to be a good hotel.
The hotel first room was so bad, that I have to pay extra money to get in a different room, the curtains falls on me, the remote didnt work, the room didnt have proper towels, and at the end I pay more money for not a good service. When I had to go me and my girlfriend receive a call because we where late 10 minutes, I think their hospitality is rush hour. Very poor quality, We will definitely will not go back there.
Blieck
The only good thing about our stay was the resturant staff was friendly & the view at night was amazing. The hotel is not close to airport:very-very expensive taxi fare to get to & from. It's a steep hike up to the rooms and no assistance. The reception staff did not speak any english. Our Dinner was very expensive and the quality fair at best. The hot tub was empty and full of leaves, the bed lumpy and very thin walls, lounge noise could be heard all the way up the hill. And the pre arranged taxi didnt show up as planned.

Bonito y bueno
What breakfast offers does not include, does not include towels, dirty and destroyed furniture, torn sheets, spider webs and spiders in quantity, broken cabinets, floors, dirty windows, and there is cable, no air conditioning and it heats a lot since it is all windows glass, We don't sleep a night, the dog barks night and day.
