If you like quality for your money, then this place is for you. It's simple accomodation - clean, everything is operational, and breakfast is very good. The place is older and elevator is awkward and small but functional. The place is across from a laundry place and around the corner from the metro. Definitely would return again someday.
Nice hotel. Nice restaurants around. Nera Metro Station.
Nice staff. Good breakfast. Good location, walking distance from Metro station and restaurants and cafe bistros. Good price.
4 nights
The location is very close to metro. Nice neighborhood, positive and helping staff. Breakfast has good variety.
Let's start with the bad stuff: * The curtains do not block light at all, they just turn it red, so sleeping past sunrise is tricky * In my first room the toilet seat didn't stay up and the safe was already locked * In my second room (we stayed twice on our journey) the AC leaked water over night and flooded the doorway * They give you a key with a massive metal slab attached which is required to be in a slot to enable power in the room. Because of this, many people apparently lose the keys out of their pocket and so they require you to leave the keys every time you leave. * Because of the above you cannot charge anything when you're not in the room. * The immediate area is reasonably safe, but the cab driver warned us that about two blocks in one direction was incredibly unsafe. * As others have mentioned, it's *incredibly* loud when anyone comes or goes, especially the housekeepers. * It's literally the hardest bed I've ever slept on * The minifridge in the room wasn't functioning well so the freezer part just leaked water all over everything else. * The AC has no thermostat, it's just on or off (with 3 fan speeds), so you will wake up in the middle of the night freezing or sweating depending on whether you go to sleep with it on or off. The good: * Located just a block from the metro * Elevator * There's 4 coffee shops nearby and some decent restaurants within walking distance (in the safe direction) * The AC in the room doesn't turn off when the key is removed
It could use some upgrading.

Good location, friendly staff. Try to avoid 1st floor, dining room can be noisy.
Convenient
A Breakfast to Remember
The staff was accommodating, the rooms were comfortable enough, and the breakfast was excellent. We would return just for the breakfast!
We were very pleased with our stay, the breakfast options were very good, the staff friendly, the air conditioning worked great, all good. The close location of markets and the trains was very convenient. We would stay there again!
Convenient location to various point of interest
The hotel was very clean and orderly but very small for 3 people sharing a room.
Very centrally located and the staff Yanis is amazing, good buffet breakfast variety.
Just ok
Nice customer service, hotel was dated. Good for short stays
Ok for a couple of days
Very small rooms, but lovely friendly staff and spotless rooms
Great hotel in decent price at a wonderful locatio
The service is very good. Quite a value for money I would say.
The price and location were excellent. IT WAS A SHORT WALK TO THE METRO STATION AND GOOD PLACES TO EAT ALL AROUND. I CAN RECOMMEND BOTH ALEXANDER THE GREAT AND POSTSCRIPT. THE BEEF SOUP AND MINESTRONE AT POSTSCRIPT WAS SUPERB. THE HOTEL BREAKFAST WAS ALSO QUITE GOOD.
The room very clean and hotel stuff truly helpful, and the breakfast perfect!
Hotel is near the Metro
The hotel is within close walking distance to metro, and the staff were very helpful. Strongly recommend!
Nice stay, convenient location
We stayed for just 2 days. The Hotel is nice and clean, well located. Bedroom a little small but had all we needed. We experienced a problem with the bathroom floor drain (foam from shower backing up). Bed not comfortable. Elevators too tight (fit just 2 people).
Close to the centre and friendly staff
Close to Omonia (Concord) Square, and a pleasant walk or metro ride to Sytagma (Constitution) Square and the northern side of the Acropolis. The staff were always friendly, and the café they recommended was just what I wanted..
good location,next to metro station
Terrible neighbourhood!
I stayed at this hotel twice for one night, one week apart. Both time by bed was only made with bottom sheet - I had to make up the bed both times! I have not seen this before in Greece or anywhere else! I went for a walk in the local neighbourhood and it was dirty, nothing of any visual appeal and it did not feel very safe.
Clean, nice staff, convenient location. Good value
Hotel Katerina was a very good place to stay for me. The staff was very kind and helpful. There was a little issue with the shower the first night, and they came and fixed it right away. The hotel is located right on the square, a very short walk to the bus, and the hop on hop off bus stop is right there as well. There aren't a lot of choices for places to eat, but there are a few. The breakfast buffet was pretty good, and it was nice to have that to start the day. Overall, I felt that it was a good place to stay for the price.
Very good
Good location, near to the metro station, nice staff and helpful, clean rooms, near to shopping area and restaurants
Comfortable for a low-cost stay
Comfortable accommodations, clean room and bathroom, convenient to the metro. While it's a bit outside the major tourist area, it's only a few metro stops away. This hotel is not in the best part of Athens, and also lacks air conditioning.Free, gated parking available. But overall, an inexpensive choice for accommodations.
Older Hotel, but good staff
Katerina Hotel is an older hotel, and it shows. From the elevator, to the size and condition of the rooms, to the furniture in the lobby. While it made me question my decision when I checked in, after a day or two, it kind of grows on you. The area looks rundown, but to be honest, all of Athens is starting to look rundown. Its an easy 20 minute walk to the Plaka area, and even at night there are plenty of families walking along the area. About the same to the Archeological Museum. And the Metro is only around the corner. The staff there is the reason I would stay at the Katerina again. They treat their guests like friends, asking how your day was and seeing if they can offer any help. Even the cleaning staff asked daily if there was anything additional I needed in my room. Overall, the staff at the Katerina Hotel made the hotel.
Great location, Clean room. Would recommend updating blankets and bed spread to something more modern.
Not friendly staff
Staff is not friendly. Everything we asked, they pretty much said NO. We asked if they could open the breakfast at 5am. They said no. I asked for hot water for instant coffee. They said just use your tap hot water, which means make cold coffee. On the day that we leave, we asked if they can give us some breakfast (we already paid) since we will leave before the kitchen open. They said tomorrow morning. and in the morning when we asked, they said that there is nothing because the bakery hasn't delivered yet.
Good for short stay
Close to metro and train station.Very small elevators in hotel.Good if you need a room for one night. It was very clean.
Good value for a night stop over
Hotels in good neighborhoods in Athens arent cheap. We had to apend just a night before we left for Meteora and we were looking for a budget hotel in a safe neighborhod near the train station. The combination wasnt easy to find and the reviews of budget hotels in different sites were quite scary. But Katerina met al the criteria and we were quite happy with the stay. It was good value for 49€ with breakfast included. Breakfast spread was good. The neighborhood was safe, right beside Metascourgio metro station which was one change from airport only. It is also 10 mins walking from Larissa railway station from where we took our train next day.We would highly recommend this hotel if you are halting in Athens for a night or need to take a morning train. The only negative point was the room size - it was so small almost like stuffing you inside a cupboard. The double bed filled up the room entirely.
Excellent
Hotel is close to Acropolis and Plaka.
Great luxury apartments.
We were shocked by how spacious the apartment was especially for Europe. Great amenities including washer and dishwasher. They also allowed us to check in early without extra charge which was much appreciated.
Pleasurable stay at this motel
Nice small hotel near subway with loud neighbor
Nice hotel and easy access near subway, area of town does not look pleasing.......unfortunate for the nice hotel, a night club very near by and its is very loud till late hours of night / morning.......not just that you hear it, IT'S very LOUD ! and I was on an the upper floor. Does not use electronic keys, but old physical key on big metal key chain.
Nice hotel a little far from the main attractions
The staff at the hotel were very nice and helpful. The hotel is very close to the metro only a 5 minute walk, but it's too far to walk to any of the main sites in Athens. The breakfast was very good with pastries, toast, eggs, cereal, and fruit. The room was a little small but it had a big balcony with a nice view of the street. We would definitely stay here again.
Great for your Athens stay
Stayed one night in Athens, the hotel was very central, clean. good value for money.
Two day stay following a cruise
Affordable hotel, convenient to the subway. Breakfast, including eggs, were plentiful, but cold.
Not satisfied with Hotel Katerina
They promised each room had a balcony but this was not the case. Very disappointing.
Pick the right room with verandas
Our first room was outstanding with a veranda. We booked an extra night and was moved to a smaller room paying less but there was no air conditioning and the noise of la local disco was sleep depriving with the window open and hot with it closed.
Just what we needed
If you intend to go around Athens and just need a clean place to rest, this is the best hotel to do so. The staff was very friendly. It is not as new as other hotels that we've too but the place has character and is very charming. We got a connecting room, so my husband and I had our privacy and each room has its own bathroom. We drove around downtown in a taxi and this area was actually one of the nicest.
Listen to NO promises....
Ok for quick stay... Nothing special... NO breakfast included even though agreed at check in....
Convenient AND Affordable
We spent three nights here while we toured Athens on the back end of a very successful sailing excursion in the Dodecanese Islands. It was near the Metro and there were many dining options within walking distance. The room was a little small for 3 people but we are all good friends so it worked for us. (A third bed was squeezed into the room.)
Clean and Reasonable
The hotel was clean and everything worked. The shower stall was small and you have to step up over a very high side. It's about what I expected for the price. It was very close to the subway so that made it easy. Breakfast was included in the price.
Great value
Staff very pleasant and helpful. Hotel attractive and very clean. Had everything we needed including wi-fi. Balcony a plus.
Great place in Athens!
The hotel staff was very accommodating and let me check in at 11:30AM so that I could leave my bags and get on with the sight-seeing. The room was extremely clean and functional. Free, fast wifi and easy checkout in the morning. Very close to the metro (subway) station which made getting to the airport a 40 minute trip for only 8 euros.
Great little hotel, easy to find and central and close to the metro. The family room was everything it promised and the staff were incredibly helpful and friendly.
Budget hotel in Athens
Stopover for a few days on way to Turkey. Had a good look around the city. Katherina was a handy place to be....close to a metro station and close to hop on hop off bus stop.
Pleasant Hotel
The Hotel is older but it is clean and safe. It provided a very good buffet breakfast and the staff were very pleasant.
A pleasant one night stay in Hotel Katerina
My girlfriend and I decided to stay in the Hotel Katerina because of the price along with their proximity to the metro stops. The accommodations were great and the breakfast was adequate. We didn't require too much, other than a place to rest before our flight the following day. We ate lunch at the restaurant across from the entrance (Hellas Food?) and dinner at the Virtus in the Stanley Hotel. Both places offered satisfactory meals, but discretely different dining experiences. Hellas Food had great service and food selection along with very hearty portions. Virtus was a bit more upscale and expensive, thus offering a more intimate dining experience. The bed in the room was comfortable and offered plenty of room. The shower had a very unique design which made for a slightly awkward bathing experience. I used the body wash they provided which resulted in a pretty moderate rash all over my skin. It didn't itch too much, but lasted for at least three days. I assumed that it wasn't bedbugs since my girlfriend didn't experience any similar issues. Based upon my experience, I plan to stay at the Hotel Katerina during my next visit to Athens.
Stayed twice in Two Weeks
We enjoyed our stay here. We had read the reviews. We knew what to expect in terms of the different rooms on different floors, the small lifts, location etc. The hotel is a couple of minutes from the metro. It is four/five stops to the main areas. Breakfast was fine. The staff were very pleasant and helpful. We would stay here again.
Great hotel!
We enjoyed our stay.....breakfast was delicious and staff very kind. Very clean and cozy.
Nice hotel
Nice little hotels don't expect large elevators are very tiny but hotel staff was excellent and metro was close by so you can get to Acropolis very easy
Hotel near the centre of Athens
The reception staff were always delightful and were always prepared to help where possible. They recommended a local taverna, not gourmet food but one where the locals go, good honest well cooked food at reasonable cost - waiters were attentive to our needs. Hotel Katerina is quaint, well run and full of interesting surprises. The reception and lounge area has many memorabilia that just sets it apart from your usual modern hotel. Yes, the lifts are small but are cute and proved great fun. The rooms are also quite small, particularly the bathroom but they are clean and well kept. Hey, I am not staying all day in the bedroom I am here to visit the sites and as long as I can go back to a comfortable bed then that's all I want. The breakfast is fairly basic, definitely not your bacon and egg but there was a good range to suit most tastes with fresh fruit. We were staying with friends from Australia and they have experienced many top notch hotels and they, like us, thought it was great value for the money
Convenient location. Hotel not too new and but everything functions.
Athrns
The staff was very friendly and very helpful. But the room was small hot and the beds were uncomfortable.
Nice hotel
Very good location right by the metro station. Excellent check in experience. Very attentive staff throughout the hotel. Rooms are quite small, but have everything required for a pleasant stay. We were lucky enough to have a small balcony. Very clean and a comfortable bed There is a lock box in the room for keeping things out of sight.. Breakfast was good, quite a variety of items available. Busy area, but the street side was not very noisy, good for sleeping. Good aircon and wifi. Overall, we were very pleased with this hotel.
Ok hotel
Clean and tidy little hotel. A bit out if the way but not too bad and walkable to the centre. Poor breakfast but no bad value.
Enjoyed our stay
We were extremely happy with this hotel, the staff was helpful and courteous, there was a wide variety of delicious food to choose from for breakfast, rooms were clean, close to metro and the hop-on hop-off bus. The Tavern Grill restaurant recommended by the hotel had great food also.
Close to metro station in Rome
The Hotel Katerina is a very clean hotel with reasonable rates. The morning breakfast that is made available for the guests is excellent. It is not only close to a Metro station but is also walking distance to Athen's wonderful Archeological Museum. There are restaurants close by the hotel.
Decent hotel
Decent hotel to live on a small budget. They said they do not provide services to carry your luggage to your room nor do they clean the room more than once a day even if you have checked in late. The rooms were very small but very clean. It conveniently located in the downtown close to metro station
Best value
Very clean, owners are there all the time assuring quality
Clean, inexpensive, but noisy hotel
Pros: Clean, not expensive Cons: Noisy! A little too far from the main tourist sites. Small room. Staff is efficient, helpful when asked, neither friendly nor unfriendly. Could do better in Athens; could do worse. I wouldnt stay there again.
Very average!
The room did not match the description from the Hotels.com site. The room was extremely small and had weird interior. Very average experience overall. The only good thing is that the hotel is close to the metro station.
Authentic Greek experience
Except for the location and small rooms, we had a very good experience at Hotel Katerina. The staff was extremely helpful and the establishment was super clean. Use of the Metro was very convenient.
excellent service
The staff were all very helpful - even helping us to download our full photo card onto our external hard drive since we were traveling without a computer! although the neighborhood was not the greatest, it was close to the metro and the train station which met our needs well.
Very comfortable hotel right next to metro station
It was trouble free. Lovely room with balcony. Staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful. In the centre of Athens next to both Metro Station and a stop for the hop on hop off bus sightseeing tour. Breakfast more than ample with many choices. Rooms kept spotlessly clean.
Central Athens Hotel
Conveniently located for main sights in Athens and sensibly priced, two room suite ideal for us and 2 children. Good breakfast but could do with more facilities for getting drinks etc at other times. Friendly & helpful staff
Easy to find
Hotel Katerina was dated and tired looking, but clean and in a good location very close to a metro stop with friendly and helpful staff.
Very good value for money
The hotel is very near to a metro station providing easy access to all points of interest (notably the Acropolis, Omonoia and Sintagma) The room, although not too large, has everything you need. Toiletries were provided and bedsheets and towels were changed every day (!). Cleaning was thorough. The room has a small balcony. There is free wifi, AC and free parking. The breakfast was rich and good. Staff is friendly. For all that, the price is more than reasonable. The neighborhood is not too nice, but totally safe, and you can even walk to some destinations (the Archaeological Museum, the Kerameikos, Omonoia). One could find fault with small issues (the tiny elevators, the loud AC, the bit dated furniture), but these are really insignificant compared to the advantages described above. In all, a very pleasant experience, and I would certainly return.
Nice hotel for the money
I found the hotel and booked it the same night that I stayed there, so it was a bit of a spontaneous thing. Overall the hotel was pretty nice. The reception people were friendly and helpful. The room was clean and comfortable. The location isn't really around much night life, etc. But it's very conveniently located next to a metro stop. The neighborhood felt safe, but if you go a few blocks to the south it starts feeling a little sketch. My only complaint might be that I could never get good signal for the WiFi in my room.
Junior suite with great view
Friendly staff showed us how to get to the sites. Thy name basically planned a great day trip
The staff is excellent, the hotel is close to a Metro station, the breakfast was very good. The family room is a bit small for 5 adults.
Hotel close to city attractions
When we arrived our room was not ready so the reception person was trying to make us feel as comfortable as possible.
Quaint hotel, helpful staff
Hotel staff was amazing!! Helpful, friendly, knowledgable about area and things to see. Called us a 330am taxi so we could make our ferry. Rooms are small but clean and shower is awesome!!!! Elevators are one person and quite cozy so if you're claustrophobic use the stairs.
1 night stay
Hotel close to subway with a staff that will help you in everyway
Fantastic and friendly service
Had a very comfortable 3 night stay! Hotel staff very friendly and helpful. breakfast had everything you would want, great variety. Thank you to all staff. Rooms very clean...
A bit of a walk from the main attractions
The hotel itself is as expected, a little run down in places but the rooms are clean, the hot water was plentiful and the staff were friendly. It's average rating is due to it's location. This is 3 metro stops from the Acropolis (very accessible) but if you prefer to walk, as we do, it's quite a distance (30 mins minimum) and, depending upon the route you take, normally not the most pleasant walk through the back streets.
Nice hotel very close to the metro
Hotel Katerina is a well priced hotel that is just across the square from the metro station. The rooms were a normal size for European standards and the breakfast was a wonderful continental style with a wide variety of options. Would definitely recommend!
Nice, comfortable and convinient
Very good for the price
Lovely staff, good location and price performance
The hotel location is great, you can reach easily all touristic location via metro or just walking. Staff is so kind and respectful and if you got any need abouth your trip they are trying to assist as good as they can.
Good stay
Perfect! Performance vs cost and service is good!. Location is also good (next to metro). I'll stay this hotel when I come to to Athens next time.
oui bien oui bien oui bien oui bien oui bien oui bien oui bien oui bien
Hotel Katerina | Hotel in Athens | Travala.com
Convenient location. Rooms are small but adequate. Elevators are tiny mac two people or one person with luggage. Breakfast options were good
