Santorini hotel

Great 3 night stay in Santorini at the Hotel Kalimera. Property is beautiful, lovely landscaping, well maintained. Pool is large and inviting on a 95 degree day. Seating areas and lounges around the pool are nice and comfortable. On site parking. Great location on the southern end of the island. Breakfast was perfect with Greek yogurt and honey, meats and cheeses, breads, eggs, etc. ownership definitely takes pride in the property. Room was a decent size, nice outside seating area to enjoy the view of the Caldera and sunset.

Great Hospitality

The hospitality was outstanding at Kalimera . My daughter got very sick while we were there. The property manager helped us to find an on call doctor. Offered us some medicine. Then drove us to a pharmacy to get what was needed. We felt completely at home, and appreciated the genuine concern. She spent time to let us know about the island, and made useful suggestions. The rooms were very cozy. The sea is visible from the room. Everything was clean and in working order. We enjoyed the breakfast. The lighthouse is nearby, as well as the Ancient Akrotiri Archeological site which is worth a visit. If you're looking for a place where you'll feel right at home, this is it

A gem of a hotel!💜

We arrived at this lovely hotel late in the evening and received a very warm welcome from Flora, who not only gave us plenty of information, but also gave us the choice of rooms available making us feel very cared for. Everywhere was spotlessly clean and everyone was very friendly and helpful. Clean sheets and towels, room service every day and lovely peaceful surroundings. The pool and bar area were great and we enjoyed many a quiet drink relaxing in between dips in the water. Flora made sure we were happy and always had a smile 😃. We enjoyed breakfast and had a meal or two in the hotel, which were lovely. Nice home cooked food. We enjoyed walking to the local beach and also took the boat to red, white and black beaches....a great day out. Akrotiri was a lovely little place to visit. We would definitely recommend Kalimera - so glad we found you! And would love to return one day! Thank you

Wonderful Stay at Hotel Kalimera

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay from the moment we checked in right to our check-out 4 days later. The team was friendly and accommodating to our Family needs, the property was extremely well-maintained, the food was fresh, tasty, and plentiful, and the location was within walking distance to beaches, restaurants, small grocery marts, and scenic vantage points. Not to mention, a bus stop right outside the entrance. Despite the proximity to all of these, it was quiet and peaceful - everything we wanted! Hotel Kalimera - good value for Santorini

The Hotel Kalimera was great as a base for exploring Santorini --please note that we did have a rental car. The hotel itself is very cute and a great value for the money. We had a great time at Hotel Kalimera. It is located in Akrotiri which is a smaller city on the southern part of the island. Great location and service, Good pick for price

The room was clean and we had a great view of the street with a balcony, but the room smelled smoky like someone previously had smoked in the room. That was the only disappointment. The staff was super friendly and accommodating. The room was comfortable and clean including the bathroom. The bathroom shower was a little odd because it was elevated off the ground and prone to water going onto the floor. Other than that it is central to the area and great to walk around the small area of Delphi. A good choice for travelers going in and out of the city, plenty of shops and place to eat in walking distance.

Decent, but wouldn't return.

Decent budget hotel with ok location. However, the place lacks character -- something seems not right -- and the beds are one step up only from an air mattress in terms of comfort. The breakfast buffet could use a revamp as well, not to mention the (always slamming) doors in the rooms.

Very nice small hotel in Akrotiri

This hotel is very convenient for some of the smaller more private beaches on Santorini. You can easily access the caldera beach on the other side of the road from the hotel and there is an excellent small taverna (Remezzo) there. It is a bit of a steep walk up from the beach but well worth it for the excellent swimming and views from this small cove. To access some of the other small beaches on the south end of the island, some form of transport is required but again these were very well worth it. So the location of the hotel is perfect for this end of the island. Unfortunately, the dig at Akrotiri is closed but may reopen for the 2012 season. The staff at the hotel were incredibly nice and very helpful. The pool is a good size and quiet. Breakfast was fairly standard but the best of its kind I had in Greece.

good service, nice family

when we first arrived to the hotel, there was a small mixup with our reservation, but in a professional manner giorgios sorted it out and gave us a lovely room with a great view. the rooms were meticulously clean with daily maid service and the beds were very comfortable [i love a firm mattress]. great Air Con, but the shower is a bit small, although we found that to be true everywhere in greece. the food at the hotel restaurant was very nice and drinks were well priced, all served promptly. the gardens around the pool are also beautiful and provide a relaxing ambiance. flora helped us to reserve a boat tour around the island as well. the pool was one of the cleanest i have ever seen, and the water was not overly chlorinated like some get. on our final day we were driven to the port. we had a great time, thanks hotel kalimera! ps, keep your eye out for little aris, the adorable and very sweet hotel pup.

Relaxing stay at the Hotel Kalimera

After three night in Thira we moved to the south of the Island. The owner came and picked us up in the minibus which was fantastic. We arrived well before the check in time but got the choice of three lovely rooms. The room had a double bed, a traditional second floor with two single beds with a view of the rest of the room and a small, but well kept little garden with a table and two chairs and a view of some vines. The bathroom was a very good size with a good shower. The breakfast was a choice of cereals, toast, cheese, ham, boiled eggs, cake, tea, etc. The pool was very attractive, quite large and clean, with steps leading into the shallow end of 1.6m. The owners were delightful and very helpful with any requests. Our only small disappiontment was the quality of the towels, they just didn't feel totally dry.a very In all, a very pleasant and peaceful hotel with delightful owners.

Great service. Quiet location.

My daughter and I stayed in August 2009. The service was impeccable - they really treat their guests like family! The bed mattresses were hard and the sheets were stiff, otherwise everything was clean and well cared for. There is a small refrigerator in the rooms, although no food or drinks allowed outside by the pool unless purchased from the Hotel. Breakfast was good, although same meal each day.

Nice hotel, but consider the location and some other factors.

My friend and I stayed at the Kalimera hotel for three nights during August. It really was a lovely hotel, very clean and quaint. One of the reasons we booked this particular hotel, however, was for the sea view that it boasted and the fact that it was only 200 meters from the ocean. This is a bit deceiving, however. It may be 200 meters walk from the ocean, but that is straight downhill - a VERY rough climb if you're on the return hike uphill! It was also not a very good swimming beach, as it was very rocky everywhere. If you plan to lay out and soak in the sun, this is not the place you're looking for. The hotel itself is not in a good location. True, the bus stop is right out front, but you have to take a bus to get to Fira and then another bus to go anywhere else! Everything that you want to see is elsewhere on the island. There is basically nothing in Akrotiri unless you're interested in the ancient ruins (no thanks). As for the hotel itself, the pool was very nice and appealing, but slightly small. The breakfast buffet was sparse, with a few cereals, yogurt, deli meats (which all tasted like bologna), cheeses, bread, and hard-boiled eggs. Nice, but it gets a bit old after the first morning or two. Also, I would agree with the other reviewers about the uncomfortable beds. They were hard as a rock. And the sheets were also hard. They desperately need to try fabric softener. The bathrooms were small - especially the showers! They were maybe a 4 sq.-foot area in the corner with a shower curtain that constantly stuck to me every second of my shower! Very annoying. Overall, the Kalimera was o.k., and may very well be perfect for some travelers, but my friend and I were disappointed that it wasn't what we had thought it to be. I definitely would not stay there again. Even if the rooms are a little more expensive, I would try to say in Fira, Oia, or one of the towns on the East coast that have more of a resort feel with some nice sandy beaches!

Lovely place!

This was a very nice place. I wasn't quite aware of how far it was from Fira and Oia, but that may be my fault. We did not rent a car and the busses were OK but not very frequent. Careful planning was required to get around. We especially liked eating there in the evening -- their home-cooked meals were a treat. They were also good about helping to make boat reservations and taxi rides.

By looking at the photos on-line and thee rating of 3 stars, we expected a decent, clean and comfortable room. We also expected customer service, as we read the other reviews. This is not what we found at Hotel Kalimera. We booked a Queen room, however, when we arrived we were told that they had no more Queens available and that we needed to take the 2-twin bed room. The beds were hard as bricks and sheets were even worse. The next day we spoke to the manager again and threatened to leave if we were unable to change rooms. He put us in a Queen room, however, it was not much better than the first. The sheets, blankets and bath towels had stains all over them. The bathroom was dirty and smelled as if had never been cleaned. The bathroom sink was partially inside the tiny shower. I would not reccomend staying at this hotel. The condition is terrible.

Leisure time in Santorini

This was one of the most beautiful hotels we stayed in during our 10 day trip to Greece. The pool was gorgeous, the rooms were large and comfortable, and the public bus was easy to maneuver. However, we found dthe staff to be completely disinterested in meeting our needs. Although they advertise in multiple places on the property that they would provide free transport around the island coming to or from the hotel to start your reservation, they provided no such accomodation on either end. They gave us information for taxis, which considering their distance from Fira Town was a substantial charge. It was also difficult to find assistance if we wished drinks or food poolside. If you are looking for a quiet few days in Santorini to enjoy a larger space than generally offered in Fira Town, with a gorgeous pool, then this is an excellent choice for the $$. But do not expect much from the staff.

Bon hotel propre et bien desservi.

Hotel propre. En face du bus. Petit déjeuner bon. Petit balcon et seche linge. Pour la chambre, je ne sais pas si cela vaut pas la peine de payer plus cher pour avoir une vue sur un autre hotel.

Koselig sted

Var her i 3 netter. Utmerket service, fint bar/restaurant/bassengområde. Gangavstand til strand/dykking, Akritiri og the Red Beach.

Abbiamo soggiornato 3 notti presso l’hotel Kalimera. Accoglienza perfetta, pulizia eccelsa e vista stupenda.
