Beautiful, safe, clean & quiet. Internet very spotty in rooms. No coffee provided. Breakfast is ‘available’ not necessarily included. Valet parking only up till 5pm and NOT available on Sundays.
Beautiful design inside. Enjoyed the pool.
The property is centrally located and provided great access to shopping and dining
The place was great the rooms are basic but it’s a beautiful building in the heart of the action. The staff were great the pool was fun for the kids. Everything was walkable from it.
This place is a beauty , amazing staff place is clean and super quiet I will return ! It is like 1-2 blocks from all the main points your are like in the middle of everything perfect location
Recomendable
Poco confiable. Aparte, fue una buena estadía. Excelente localización.
😊
We learned that the hotel had once been a convent, converted now into a hotel. The rooms were on three floors surrounding a courtyard that was divided into a sitting/eating area with tables and chairs, and a swimming pool that was separated by a wall to the eating area. Staff kept the floors clean every day and at times several times a day, as well as dusted. Staff at the desk were very helpful in giving us information and ordering a cab when we needed to leave and get to the airport. It all felt very safe and secure. Many of the staff were bilingual, especially those at the desk and restaurant. The food at the restaurant was very good, though we ate out most of the time to experience the gastronomy of the city of Oaxaca. And the hotel was situated right in the old town area, known as Oaxaca Centro. Would definitely stay there again if I travel back to that city.
The room for 3 people was way too small. Air circulation in the room was stuffy.
This is a great place to stay! We only stayed one night but would have liked to stay more.
Be aware of extra charges not disclosed in the webpage nor the confirmation. e.g. extra bed, pets with no vaccinations proof, etc. might be pet friendly but not budget friendly.
Friendly staff, very helpful in helping you navigate through the neighborhood and city. Made great, honest, reccomendations.
The kindness of the staff, and the chef who can make a great filet mignon, are especially memorable. Remember to tip housekeeping because they depend on you. It is in a very safe area, close to what you need and want. The pool is small, but nice. I loved this hotel for a true Oaxacan experience in a cozy environment.
Poor communication Many things wrong
Noisy Cloister CasAntica
The hotel is central and our room/suite was spacious however the bathroom room was very small and the shower sprayed in every direction. The worst however was the noise. We had the misfortune to stay over a long weekend and the hotel transformed from nice and tranquil into a gathering point of screaming kids and screaming, drunken adults and blearing boom boxes. Everyone seemed to try to be louder than the other. They all gathered around the pool which is in the middle of the central courtyard surrounded by all the rooms. This went on until way into the night on several days. The staff, doesn’t speak English and didn’t seem to care. The courtyard is a nice, quiet place to have breakfast, dinner there is not recommended.
We stayed here for 6 days. Staff was friendly. This hotel is in an excellent location. Walking distance to the Zocalo and to downtown maybe 2 blocks away. The room was very nice, keep in mind it’s an older building but very beautiful. They do have a pool and the restaurant in the hotel had very good breakfast. The only reason I’m not giving it 5 stars is because we did not have hot water in our room, not that we needed it much because in the day time since it was hot outside the water was warm but not hot. That’s the only thing that I didn’t enjoy. Other than that I recommend and would definitely stay here again (with hot water). :) by the way Oaxaca is beautiful.
Great location, clean rooms, safe and quiet.
Great place
We loved the location of this cute boutique hotel. We also loved being able to plunge in the pool to cool off after a hot day of walking. The staff were very friendly and went out of their way to help us call another hotel to communicate for us. During our stay they had a beautiful display of artwork on the walls. Nothing negative to note.
Great location!
Our stay at Casantica was nice we enjoying the view of the place its antique and peaceful. Great location and staff service. The only bad thing was the water. No hot water when shower but other than that will definitely recommend
The hotel is very close to the main plaza. The hotel is charming, the food excellent, and the staff friendly and helpful. I'd stay again.
Beautiful property with a lot of charm and character. The property is very clean and well kept. The staff was also very friendly and helpful.
This is a nice 3 star hotel. The rooms are basic but very clean. The hotel itself has a definite charm and it has lots of lovely outdoor spaces to sit and read/ chat/ play games etc. brilliant location
There was no hot water so took a shower with cold water. The beds are very uncomfortable. The area was safe and convenient.
Great location, The rooms need to be updated, the mattres are hard, the pillows, the bathrooms, at least get a new shower head, the shower doors dont slide, you have to pull hard, the hot water is not hot enough.
It’s a very pretty and comfort place to stay close to the center area of Oaxaca
The common area was nice and quaint. The junior suite noted on expedia was more a standard room and very small for 2 with luggage so necessary to move. 1 travelef alone could be ok
There was a construction/repairs taking place a night. I was unable to sleep due to the hammering, etc. If you are driving and arrive after hours, be prepared to find parking nearby. The hotel will do nothing to assist you..,,
loved it so much coz so clean comfortable and stuff was excellent
Charming hotel in the heart of the city. The area is beautiful and surrounded with culture. There is plenty to do within walking distance
It was clean, everybody was so helpful and attentive. They went out of their way to help and make you feel safe and at home!
Bad service, full of mosquitoes.
The hotel is a beautiful building, but the service is not good. The hotel was empty, we arrived on a very early flight and they didn't give us the room until check-in time at 3 pm even when it was available. You can't enjoy the beautiful patio because it's full of mosquitoes, they could plug or spray something to eliminate the plague. Also, there's a family member from the owner who's not mentally well, unfortunately, and she sits at the lobby/patio all evening moaning loudly until late at night and you can hear her from the rooms. Very disturbing, especially for young kids. Also, their AC units are in the worst position they could find in the room, super noisy and bright all night.
Casantica was perfect for our 3 night/4 day stay. The staff was kind and accommodating. The room for 3 people was small but it served its purpose. The beauty of the hotel was heartwarming!
Just perfect.
Staying there was a pleasure. It is convenient and close to the zocollo. The staff was friendly and great. The rooms were a little dark, I'm not sure if this could be helped and the pool area was not very inviting, not sure if this could be helped either. All in all, a good stay!
The hotel is beautiful and rustic. The customer service is not good, the staff is a bit rude and they doesn’t really care to make the customers feel welcomed or important for their business.
Everything is perfect at CasAntica, was my second time there and i definitely going back.
The property was a gorgeous historical convent with arches around the courtyard and a waterfall into the pool. Parking was a problem especially with the valet service.
We did not enjoy our stay at CasAntica and left early, seeking alternative accommodation. The communal areas of the hotel are beautiful, but our room was incredibly small with no window/natural light. We also had bugs all over our bed. The staff were relatively helpful, but the overall experience was pretty awful.
Great Hotel with a lot of character !
The room and property was very clean. Our first room was too small with just a double bed, but staff was able to give us a larger room after the second day of our 6 nite stay. Everyone is very friendly, English speaking and happy to help. Very well located to walk to most of the tourist spots.
Great location and friendly staff. Our first set of rooms had no cold water on the upper level. We moved to different set of rooms on the ground floor. Those rooms had hot water but the rooms smelled bad because of sewer gas coming up through the shower and sink drains.
No visitors past 10pm
The only thing here is they have curfew for visitors, I didn’t like the fact that I come from out of state and my family member wants to visit me past 10pm and they don’t let visitors in. They need to remove that rule
Beautiful colonial
Beautiful colonial hotel built in an old convent. It’s also an art gallery and the hallways are filled There are places to sit and contemplate the world are located around the mezzanine. The rooms are small, but comfortable.
Historic,great outdoor spaces,pool,and restaurant
The location is absolutely perfect, close to everything you need while being a tourist in Oaxaca. Friendly and helpful staff. The rooms are very small and could be upgraded a bit, but the price is right. Would we stay there again? YES!
The hotel is ideally located and this allows you to walk for shopping, dinking and sightseeing. The building and decoration are beautiful. The staff is very friendly. The on site restaurant is very convenient. The place is overall quite clean. On the minus side, the rooms are very small and the doors are quite flimsy and have no security locks. Also, although they were very friendly I experience two different instances in which they misguided me. Overall, this is a very well located, solid hotel with very friendly staff.
Great location and friendly staff. The rooms are small and some do not have windows. We picked the junior suite when we booked, and the room was smaller than a typical hotel room and did not have a window. They did change us to a bigger room with a window when we looked at changing hotels. The hot water ran out in the evenings.
Nice place to stay a couple of days. WiFi coverage is weak in some areas.
Charming and elegant "Old Mexico" feeling!
As described. Met expectations. During stay staff got stingy with towels. Had to track them down.
Great location , fun place great staff , simple set up but you have all you need
CasAntica is a beautiful property in the heart of Oaxaca convenient to shopping, restaurants, banks, whatever one might need! Check in was a breeze, and the staff were so friendly. There is a lovely heated pool that I enjoyed during my stay. My room was clean, cozy and comfortable, though it did not have a room looking out. I was not bothered by that though, because I did not visit Oaxaca to sit in the hotel room! I would happily stay at CasAntica again.
Convenient location. I love to walk and this was a good location. They had water for my nalgene water bottle which was awesome but in itself the city isn’t very “green” so be prepared for that. It can be a little loud at night, nothing that ear plugs can’t fix; i expected that so i was prepared. There’s Lots of stairs at the hotel but i really like that.
Hotel CasAntica had wonderful staff and amenities!
CasAntica is in a beautiful restored 16th century former convent. By US standards the rooms are small but they are adequate with a wardrobe to hang clothes, a desk and chair. Private bathrooms with shower and plenty of hot water. Has a lovely small pool, a restaurant with a bar and a pretty courtyard to eat in. Very helpful front desk staff who speaks English is a plus. The hotel is in walking distance to the zocalo and 20 de Noviembre market. Many cafes, restaurants and bars within walking distance.
Centrico + Amable + Silencioso
The best place about Casantica was it's location. It is close to all the major attractions and sites in Oaxaca City. The central courtyard looks like a Spanish style colonial palace. Rooms are nice and simple. I recommend it!
Love it!
We loved the hotel! It is conveniently located in Oaxaca city center. Has an off-site parking (closed way too early), but managed. The swimming pool is an added value for the kiddos (well maintained). Big rooms have spacious (though others can be rather small). Staff was super friendly! Water dispensers are available. Overall very nice experience. Will definitively return!
Very nice boutique hotel.
Excellent hotel and very close to city center!
The stay at Hotel CasAntica was amazing. The staff was great at accommodating all our needs and willing to help in anyway possible. The rooms were clean and felt like home after a long day of exploring. The restaurant on the property was delicious with authentic foods and great service. The pool was always clean. The only issue our family had was the street noise but we were expected it during the festival week. We will definitely be back!
It served our needs just fine.
Rooms to small very noisy beginning at 5 or 6 am
Location of this hotel is as ideal as can be. The rooms are small but clean and staff is very welcoming. My only gripe was the water pressure and my shower ran out of hot water on my first night. This was an isolated issue as it never happened again. The hotel staff even booked our tour for us and had a taxi ready to take us to the airport at the time requested. Staff was always available and made us feel like valued guests. This will be my hotel whenever I come to Oaxaca and will recommend to all my family and friends to this hotel when they travel to Oaxaca.
The staff was very friendly.
Cozy room, it was a very small room but it has everything we need, clean and the beds were comfy. All the employees in the hotel are very nice specially Adriana at the restaurant.
Staff was friendly. Location was great, close to El Zocalo and walkable distance to the churches and mercados.
Lovely one night stay before heading to the airport.
We loved this hotel in Oaxaca. This is a perfect location.
Elegant property beautiful room. Comfortable bed with excellent linens comfortable sleep with blackout shutters that keep the room nice and dark. The pool is a nice extra right outside our room.
We loved Hotel CasAntica. This historic property is so pretty, with the interior courtyard, plantings, and artworks all around. The pool makes for a small but lovely oasis the kids enjoyed as a way to relax after being out in the bustling activity. The location is fantastic, between the zocolo and the plaza, walkable to everywhere we wanted to go in Oaxaca City. The staff was very pleasant and courteous. We enjoyed our breakfast at the restaurant in the courtyard and wandering the beautiful halls. Our rooms were quiet, clean, and comfortable.
Too basic when you want a vacation.
Too basic, hard beds, bugs moving around in the bath, water leakage had a worker banging on the wall at 6AM. The pool water did not look clean.
Very unsafe hotel due to room we got we move out next day
I love the architectural beauty and cleanliness. The lady who cleaned our room was so friendly, Overall a very pleasant stay. I higly recommend!
Great location. Pool water is cold. One of the a/c didn’t work, we reported it but they didn’t fix it. Lots of stairs. Friendly staff.
Due to the nature that this is an old convent my room did not have a window. It was very small and a little claustrophobic. I was eventually moved after three days to a room that had a window which was much better. The location is absolutely fantastic and close to everything. The swimming pool water was not well filtered and not clear in the sun light. A little noisy but it was not a bother. Breakfast was basic but good. I will stay again. Good value for the money.
I was disappointed because I request a ground floor room for my mother, they couldn’t accommodate. Also asked for a spot in their parking lot. They had a poor excuse and had to pay public parking.
The staff weren’t that helpful or friendly. The rooms are fine - very basic but fine. It was expensive for what it was
Good: Excellent location Great staff Beautiful place Oxxo store right there Bad: Shower had a leak. King size beds are like wooden planks. Some of the adornments are old garbage.
Good hotel in great location
A nice hotel in a great location in Oaxaca. I booked a quite cheap room and it didn’t have windows but that was on me. The staff was very helpful and the room was super clean.
Beautiful hotel, pet friendly, great pool, friendly, helpful staff and fantastic location in the heart of the historic district in Oaxaca city.
Old overpriced hotel. Only convenience is it’s location.
Last choice
Proud to insist there is;"no English spoken here". As i was checking in, the rude young lady insisted, "no habla English ". Even though it clearly states in the description English and Spanish spoken. Maybe all the good reviews were Spanish speakers. During midweek, few occupants, slow season, i was escorted to room on third floor after asking (in Spanish) for a room with ventilation; a window. I believe the third floor was my punishment as she smirked to the concierge while handing him the key. Broken locks, no drinking water, tv needed fixing, no inroom phone or clock; BYO! Also, lighting up stairway was minimal to pitch black off...very dangerous. This was a two night stay while waiting for an apartment in my favorite Mexican city. My last two days were also scheduled to be here. Needless to say, I canceled. There are wonderful other hotels in this area that are helpful and accommodating. And they were full when i made these arrangements.
The only think. The interior patio on the first floor its to laud..because its the social area..and the roos are on the secord floor and we can ear all...
CasAntica was absolutely amazing! The staff is so awesome and friendly and you definitely can’t beat the location. You can walk to everything! The restaurant has fabulous food, one of my top meals of the trip. Cannot recommend enough. Definitely stay here.
When I read the reviews about the hotel, It says about the size of the rooms, but I booked anyways. When we got to the hotel in fact the room were very small, however the rooms and the hotel are clean. The staff was friendly and very helpful. The location of the hotel was perfect, it's right in between of the Zocalo and Templo Santo Domingo. We were happy we stayed there.
Beautiful hotel in the middle of the old town area within walking distance of main attractions and restaurants. Wonderful friendly helpful staff were able to arrange a private driver/English speaking tour guide for surrounding sites, great restaurant recommendations and assist with navigating Covid-19 testing for our return to the United States. Thank you!
The property was very nice the only thing it didn’t have an elevator but it was only a two-story building very close to town.
Great place to stay!
Great place, really recommend it. We were a big group. I got a small room but others in my group got a bigger room. The service was excepcional!!!! Very clean. The only thing we’re the towels not very soft!
bugs and small cockroaches came out in my room, everything else very well. In my sister's room there was no hot water and the room was dusty, I heard other guests complain about the same.
.
really nice quiet on inside, busy outside. Central location
