Hotel Casa Tago Nice People
We chose Hotel Casa Tago due to its proximity to the airport. The family who runs the hotel are very nice and the security seemed sound. The room was basic and fulfilled our needs for a night.
Helpful and friendly
Hotels with low prices like this are super easy and convenient, but breakfast is quiet limited
Comfortable room/bed but missing some amenities. Very small shared bathroom with the room I booked. Very friendly and helpful staff and amazingly beautiful plants. Conveniently located close to the airport and in walking distance to the park, shops, restaurants, bars, and cafe
This was our 4th visit to Costa Rica. We love this country. Prevously our experiences with the hotels were always positive. However, this hotel was probably the worst one i ever stayed in. I only gave it 2 stars because the staff was friendly and helpful. Otherwise it was a disaster. The room smelled terrible and the windows wouldn't open. The neighborhood is unsafe to say the least. Our bathroom door somehow got locked from inside and we couldn't use it till morning In the morning a hotel employee came with a hammer and a huge knife and broke open the door. Overall, its shabby, dirty and uncomfortable. Would not recommend to anybody.
Very good people
I had a great stay. The staff went above and beyond. The free breakfast was delicious.
Free onsite locked parking! Pet friendly free pets! Pool. Sit down full breakfast and super friendly family owners. Good restaurants walkable nearby. Casa de sopa and el pats on Colombian arepas.
It was close to airport, friendly staff, area and hotel were quiet and complimentary breakfast was delicious
Nice pool to relax in but suggest umbrellas. Too much sun. Big spacious room. Confortable. TV control didnt work. No shampoo, or enough soap, or toilet paper. Floors dirty Petite breakfast No restaurant service Cant open the Windows or balcony door cause bugs and mosquitos come in Noisy guests
My room was very small. I needed more room for my suitcase. The fan speed didnt reduce.
everyone is nice
Cheap but basic accom
Very kind and helpful staff - clean bedroom, simple but tasty breakfast included.
Great, basic location. Good price
The details were very misleading. Very unsafe neighborhood. Can’t leave and go as you please as two gates have to be opened up by front desk person who was sleeping everything I wanted to leave. No bathroom. No AC. Would never recommend.
Loved the pool and the free breakfast. The hotel is good value.
Good for the price
Nice facility, great area and great people
Owners are eager to help and very kind! Loved the experience.
Very helpful, making sure I was comfortable. Friendly and welcoming even at the late hour that I arrived.
Okay for a cheap, brief stay near the airport. Noisy neighborhood, but that’s probably true throughout Alajuela. No air conditioning.
Good quiet location close to Central Park with many restaurants. Good beds, tv and big bathroom. Common areas very nice. Staff very helpful, best hotel I've stayed at in Alajuela over 10 visits. Peaceful energy due to helpful owners and staff. Excellent rest stop before our next morning flight.
I was really disappointed with this hotel. My room was not much bigger than the bed, with a window the size of a small pizza box so it was very stuffy. The bed had only one sheet - no blanket - and the bedside lamp didn't work. The shared bathroom was dirty and had no soap. I partly chose this hotel because it claimed to have parking and a good breakfast. I arrived at night and there were no parking spaces left, so was instructed to drive to a parking garage -I had to walk 2 blocks back to the hotel by myself at night. The breakfast was meager - three tiny pieces of fruit and a grilled ham and cheese sandwich. I have never written a bad review, but I can't let this experience pass. I definitely do not recommend Casa Tago.
They sent me a msg saying to get a orange taxi from the airport but pay less than 8$ usd. None of these taxis wanted to take me and so I had to pay $20 usd just to go. They didn’t even provide me an address so I had to find it myself. Room is just bad, the bed is terrible and its not very clean.
Our room didn’t have any windows we could open. Only a fan to stir up stale air. Staff friendly and helpful.
Casa Tago provided exactly what I needed ... clean bed near airport ($8 taxi, or $5 Uber to/from SJO). The included breakfast was ample and pleasant. Didn't try the pool, but it looked refreshing. Great friendly/family-like staff. Shared bathroom in the hall.
Amazing staff, extremely helpful staff. property as advertised. Parking was difficult.
Cheap and filriendly. Coming in and out reoues someone to open the front door / gate Everytime you want to exit premise which is inconvenient.
We stayed 1 night at Casa Tago Hotel before continuing with out trip the next day. The host of the hotel was very helpful and provided valuable insights regarding which taxis to take from SJO airport and offered help in finding a suitable and reliable transportation for the rest of our trip. The rooms are not very spacious (no closet), but very tidy and are equipped with a wall-mounted fan (no a/c) and come with a private bathroom with a shower. The beds are cozy and have the right size for 2 adults.
Quite and safe
Friendly staff member met me late when the taxi arrived after my flight. Courteously showed me to my room and didn’t ask for payment until the morning.
Very friendly and felt safe!
Easy check-in; clean and comfortable room for an overnight stay. Breakfast was delicious. Close proximity to the airport.
Easy for airport with great breakfast
Conveniently close to the airport with straightforward but comfortable room with en suite although the decor was a little tired. Pool area and courtyard was a great addition and the breakfast was the best we had in Costa Rica
The property is very secure. The front desk staff is friendly and extremely helpful. Accommodations are basic but impeccably clean. A very comfortable stay. I would choose Casa Taga again especially when flying out from SJO
El patio is only a couple of blocks away and has several restaurants of great value. Also MacDonalds and liquor store close by
Decent for nearby airport stays
Decent stay right near the airport. They offer a good breakfast and late check in. The price is very reasonable. I had a basic room with a shared bath. Everything was clean. Beware there are many steps up/ down the hallway to/ from the bath. The pool is very small but ok for a quick jump to wake up or cool off.
Tried to email about a late check-in a day before the arrival, never received a message back. Then tried to call about a late check in after landing at the airport, but the phone number didn't work. A representative from the car rental company tried to call as well and had the same result. When we arrived at the location, there was no one there to check us in, and no private parking as was advertised. We ended up going to another hotel and were immediately checked in. Online, this location is listed as a retirement community, and not as a hotel. Overall, the experience was very confusing and awful. I hope they can figure it out. Very disappointing.
Great Night Stay…
Excellent hosts at this location… the hotel was open and airy, very close to the airport (8.00 taxi) and a great Italian Seafood restaurant 2 blocks away (Limonta’s)… it does have a shared bathroom for the room I took but it was very clean and the shower was better than many fancy hotels I’ve stayed at there…nice included coffee/ breakfast service… I almost hate to give it such an excellent rating as it may be hard to get a room there again…
The reception was unprofessional, the pool completely disgusting. Only one bathroom for around 15 room completely disagreement to used it.
Exactly what they offered
Yes!
Amazing and very helpful staff. Book now!
The front desk lady went above and beyond. The place is clean and quiet. Very close to airport. Once again, the staff was AMAZING!!
Great Service
I got to the hotel very late, but they were waiting for me with no issues at all
Super friendly staff
Old style, but homy 😊. For those money, very good.
The staff was incredible--very accommodating and kind. They gave me advice about the area and what I wanted to do there. They were very knowledgeable and generous. We checked in very late since our plane arrived late, but the receptionist got up for us and was very kind!
Casa Tago was great, especially the host, Geovani. Super nice, very kind and sweet guy and informative when i asked him for suggestions. I would recommend this place to stay. Great stay!
Close to airport.
This property is very old. Rooms are outdated and a bit dusty under the bed. The bathroom is old and commode seat too big for the toilet. The staff is great, friendly and the breakfast options were very good. Nice touch of breakfast included. Very close to airport.
Would Stay Again
We stayed at Casa Tago on two occasions, when we flew into and out of SJO. Someone was on staff all hours. Check in and out was simple and quick. The lady working the night shift called a cab for us when we needed to leave at 3am. They provided a free breakfast which was a typical Costa Rican breakfast which was very tasty! The rooms are old and dated but clean and comfortable. Alejuela can be loud at night but seems to get quieter after 10pm.
Very good
Great breakfast and satff
Fantastic for the affordable price! Excellent
Strong odor smell like urine. Hot no AC.
Casa Tago overnight
Simple clean hotel. Friendly service. Delicious coffee and breakfast.
The staff were very accommodating and friendly, pool refreshing and everything within walking distance.
The owners are extremely friendly and helpful! for the price this is a great option, parking and breakfast too!
They didnt give me the room last minute when i was front desk they said they didnt have room available
Rebecca was very helpful and welcoming during our stay. We plan to stay here again.
What I look for when on vacation is a nice, clean and safe place for lodging. Casa Tago offered all that, plus a very helpful and amiable staff.
We flew into SJO at around 10:30pm and stayed here a night before heading out the next morning. It’s very close to the airport ($10 by taxi) and near rental car services. The pricing is great for the rooms and feel very safe and secure. In the morning we were served fresh fruit, eggs, and rice for breakfast. The 24hr front desk was very helpful. I would highly recommend staying here.
family owned and operated. very helpful
I liked how close to the airport and friendliness of staff.
Pleasure to stay
Excellent no complaints what so ever. Staff are very friendly and always smiling. Very accomoding . Very pleasant and refreshing place to stay. Felt like you are home.
Got in late and were checked in with no problems. Nice clean rooms. Excellent breakfast. If we were staying longer in the area i would definitely stay some more nights.
Staff were friendly and professional. The place was great and breakfast was so delicious!
Really close to the airport and public transportation. We stayed only one night. The staff was very hospitable and made us feel welcome. Breakfast was yummy. We had a shared restroom which was only shared with 2-3 other rooms. It was really clean. The room does not have AC but the fan in the room works wonders. Overall I would recommend this location if you are only in San Jose for a short amount of time and don’t want to stay in the city center.
Very quaint and comfortable and very great owners who were very helpful. Very affordable.
The property was in a sketchy area. The front desk/breakfast server was lovely. The room was large and very basic. Bed was decent but the pillows not. Breakfast was adequate. Coffee good
Quiet, clean and very friendly staff. Nice, tasty breakfast.
We got in late, almost midnight, but the staff was waiting and attentive. Thanks.
The service was top-notch. The hot springs/ mud baths and the waterfalls were amazing experiences. We would definitely stay there again.
Friendly staff.
Good for one night.
