Nice property blocks away from historic town.
Beautiful little property within walking distance of everything. Great staff. Ask for any non lowest floor room.
Amazing
Amazing
Meh... Was ok.
Pretty good location, but they miss so many details. The desk staff, except for one wonderful young woman, was not particularly friendly or helpful. We kind of felt like we were bothering the guys. The restaurant was good, but closes at 4PM. There is nowhere to get ice on the property except the restaurant...and they charged us for 2 plastic cups of ice. Coffee too. We got 4 pods on the first day, but that's it. Bathroom had only one towel bar. Water pressure was super inconsistent. Our room had a kitchenette, but it was poorly stocked. No bowls for eating or mixing, no microwave, no kitchen towels. Beds were uncomfortable (to us, anyway). Very little decor. Place was big and roomie, but the walls were mostly bare except for one picture. All in all it was ok, but I expected more. Would not recommend.
We arrived about 6:30. We asked for a couple of restaurant suggestions and the front desk person was no help. Also, we had booked this place because of the jacuzzi and only on arrival found out it was only open until 7:00. So we had no benefit of that amenity. Quite disappointing!
Very quiet and low key
Quick check in good service.
Very nice hotel. Staff was extremely nice and helpful!
Helpful and friendly staff. Beautiful property. Pleasant restaurant with good food.
Very courteous and friendly staff! Gracias!
Location is great. One problem happened. Several guess came in at about 12:30pm and talked in hallway for 30 minutes. They repeated? At about 3:30pm. My one poor night of sleep.
Beautiful historical hotel in downtown Oaxaca. The rooftop jacuzzi is great. The little restaurant has a very friendly staff. Clean and comfortable
The hotel is within walking distance to all local landmarks. The staff was friendly and helpful. The room was clean. I had a great time staying at the hotel. Cannot wait to stay here again!
Very happy
I honestly can’t say enough good things about this hotel. From the staff to the room to the food at the restaurant it was all wonderful. The structure of the building and the ascetics were unique warm and inviting. It was absolutely perfect and we can’t wait to go back!
Really liked this property. Super cute. Has a restaurant inside with super delicious authentic food. All the staff is very friendly.
We really liked this hotel. Very rustic and clean. Staff is super friendly. Only issue was our Tv didn’t work. It also had a cute little restaurant great authentic food.
Apparently there’s a nightclub near the property. Very noisy to 2 am Friday y Saturday night.
Bad front desk service
I had i bad experience with the front desk ,when we were checking out, the front desk girl sad we couldn't leave until she went and check out our room she came back aftwr 30 minutes ,that she left us waiting in the lobby (which made is loose our bus)she came back with a face wash towel and told me she had found a tear very small tear in the towel which she wanted to charge us for it ,we never even ised that towel because we bring our own seco d the towels were so old thta i wouldn't even use i told her that we didn't even used the towel that we used our own ,she finally let use go after an hour but it did made us loose our bus
Very nice location slightly away from the fast paced center but easy walking distance from everything. Nice, small restaurant with the perfect setting for morning coffee and breakfast.
I asked for two double beds and it was late when we got there ended up with the queen size bed
Beautiful oasis in a busy part of town
This place was very nice clean friendly staff & very safe! The only thing is that the restroom is very small & tight space. Not sure if they all are the same I was in a room #19.
Price and location
Easy going staff and great location. A couple of blocks from St. Domingo temple which is a center location for events
Very nice hotel.
Oaxacan adventure
The hotel is dirty, especially the bathroom (shower & sink areas) & the room has an unpleasant odor. The staff was nice. The location is great, just a few blocks from the centro. I would not stay here again
We loved it!
Great stay, close to everything to walk , great staffing
It was a nice and quiet place to stay.
Love the ladies who work in the restaurant.
Great Location, Beautiful Courtyard
We had a very comfortable stay at Casa de Solano. The architecture is beautiful, especially the courtyard, with a very comfortable hammock. All of the staff were very nice to us and very accomodating. And the location is terrific!
A charming place…lovely sunny little breakfast terrace
Such a gem! Well located in the Centro area, an easy walk to a multitude of restaurants and shops, the area around Templo de Santo Domingo, the Zocalo, etc. The staff could NOT have been more friendly and EXTREMELY helpful - particular shout outs to Itel at the front desk (who went above and beyond on more than one occasion, she's a young lady who will go far in life) and Ivonne in the on site terrace restaurant, who was just wonderful to be around. The property itself is just beautiful - the courtyards (upper and lower) the terraces, the rooftop soaking jacuzzi pool area; it was all splendid - welcoming, relaxing, aesthetically pleasing everywhere you let your eyes rest! We will DEFINITELY stay here when next in Oaxaca!!
Very nice and clean
Wonderful hotel with beautiful views
Great location and walkable to a lot of sights and attractions within the city. The staff was very friendly, helpful, and accommodating! I loved the lushness and decor of the courtyard leading to my room.
We didn’t get our room cleaned, we told the receptionist and he just said that we didn’t say we wanted our room cleaned. Any other hotel they clean your room unless you put the thing on the door that you don’t want to. Also I struggled a lot to sleep cos you could hear everything. People in the middle of the night yelling and loud music really early in the morning from the kitchen when the staff was getting breakfast ready
Everyone is very friendly really enjoyed the visit
Excellent experience
Absolutely gorgeous property -- a real gem. Thin curtains, room doesn't get dark for sleeping. Shower doesn't drain properly in room 1. Nice Oaxacan mole tamales breakfast! There is a lookout with a great view of the city but it closed at 7 pm so no night panorama. Definitely recommend!
Great place to stay!
Love staying at casa del sótano always feels like home!
Pretty nice and clean hotel, well located, parking will Be a plus
enjoyed our week in Oaxaca , Hotel Solano was great , excellent restaurant . The staff was fantastic .
Property is walking distance from great restaurants and churches
Room fine, but no natural light. No water at all one day. Great breakfast with very friendly staff. Front desk staff mixed. A fantastic lady who helped with all queries. However other staff not helpful and somewhat surly.
Excellent Hotel, nice food, nice rooms and perfect location
Quite and green
Near everything yet tucked away from the hustle and bustle of downtown. Beautiful inner garden with a simple yet tasty breakfast and lunch restaurant— and a small but cozy rooftop pool.
Very beautiful garden area and a great restaurant/bar with Letty and Yvonne
The hotel is an old colonial house with an interior patio. It is in an excellent location. 6 minutes from the Santo Domingo plaza and Cathedral ( a real jewel to visit) and at 10 minuts from el Zocalo the main square of Oaxaca Excellent quality/price
Food at the restaurant was great but rooms are to small hotel is somehow different to other hotels in the area to many stairs you may feel claustrophobic walking space way to narrow.
Great stay
The restaurant staff was so nice and friendly… food was delicious….. Letty and Ivonne were the cook and waitress and they were so polite from the first day we got there…. Would definitely recommend it… as well as the staff … the hotel was clean …
Amazing hacienda style property, Amazing staff and breakfast it's amazing only thing is that they don't have a party garage. But there's 2 parking garages a block away. Will stay again 👍👍👍
Nice and, old romantic house.
Over all it was a good stay. However it was on a busy street and also it felt less safe than other place we stayed in downtown. The girl at the front desk was friendly and helpful, however there was a guys that was at the front desk sometimes and he was cold and unfriendly like we were bothering him when we dropped and picked up the room key.
I had an excellent week staying here. It was not far from the Zocalo.
Overall well kept , great bed , fan didn’t work:(
Great location. Away from all the fuzz, but very close and within walking fistance to all major attractions. The rooms need some attention, mostly the bathrooms and shower area are a bit too small and outdated. All the staff was great and extremely helpful. A bit too expensive and could het a better option for the same money
The staff helped us find cabs at fair prices, explained tourist options, and the rooms were very cozy. So far, we have tried 3 different rooms and enjoyed them all. If you are looking to walk to the Centro and other locations near it including the markets, this is a great option. We were especially thankful for the mag-lock front door to the location, security cameras, and safe rooms.
Safe to be in all around , walking distance to restaurants
Just in main historic center.
Walking distance to the zocalo. Everything was easy and convenient. Would definitely stay here again!
The shower was uncomfortable, It was cockroaches in the room. Uncomfortable beds.
Yes, I would come back.
The location is great! Very close to downtown. The room was nice. Clean. The only "but", was the bathroom, a little upgrade will be nice. The 4 stars is because they don't have parking or options to go. En general, I would come back .
Hotel is conveniently located just a couple blocks from the zocalo. A bit outdated and a little sketchy inside. The electricity in the room wasn’t working correctly. The light outlets didn’t work and we couldn’t charge our devices. We had to flip four different light switches to get the light on, they had to be flipped on in a certain pattern. As soon as one light turned on the other turned off. The doors are very flimsy and the lock is a simple latch. Any key can open the door knob, and if the key latch is not closed anyone with any key can open your door. The latch can also easily be flipped from the outside through the gap in between the two doors that make up the front door. Another hotel guest almost opened the door while my girlfriend and I were changing, had it not been for the latch they would have walked in on us. I wasn’t too comfortable staying there but due to the Gelaguetza going on, it was hard to get a place anywhere else due to everything being sold out. The door to the balcony was unlocked when we arrived and so was the window in the shower. I locked them, but after getting housekeeping service, while we were out in town, they were unlocked again. Luckily we checked before going to sleep. The locks are simple latches. It’s a good location close to everything near the zocalo but not a comfortable stay.
I love the view of the city and the Mountains around it just amazing
We were dissatisfied with the beds comfort, water pressure and the jacuzzi was not working properly. The food at the hotel deli was not good and overpriced. They tried to charge us for what they alleged we stained a hand towel with make up. When it was clearly some rust or other stain. The only advantage was the location is walking distance and conveniently located to main attractions, shops and restaurant. But do not recommend staying.
The restaurant in the hotel had several food options, the food we tired was fresh & had an amazing tasting, highly recommended Tlayudas & avocado toast breakfast !!
Great location and place.
Ruido
The place is nice. But the restaurant closed at 3 o’clock daily. But the people at the restaurant is super nice also the food was really good. Need to improve there bathroom.
This place does not disappoint, is in a great area where everything is nearby. The staff is always friendly and amicable.
It's my second time staying here. I will highly recommend to get some heat in the jacuzzi
Nice, quiet place. Looks unassuming from outside. Also, has a jacuzzi and gym.
The location was perfect
Leticia at the restaurant is an amazing cook and the staff in general was very friendly
Great hotel with a great city view. Loved our stay.
My recent stay at Casa del Sótano in Oaxaca was an exceptional experience that I would highly recommend to anyone visiting this beautiful city. From the moment I arrived, I was welcomed by the warm and friendly staff who made me feel at home right away.
Muy buena atención
You won't regret it !!
Highly recommended!! Beautiful colonial Mexican property. Great location. Close to everything you possibly need!
Location is perfect. It can be a little bit cleaner. People the work there very friendly.
Absolutely loved staying at Casa del Sotano, and would recommend everyone to stay there. Not only the hotel building is absolutely stunning, but the entire staff is SO nice. I could walk to all major points in the city, and I truly enjoyed the quiet at night. Don’t hesitate, stay at Casa del Sotano!
Everything was great!
I wasn’t satisfied with the hotel. The toilet was not working. The restaurant closes at 3 pm. The pillows looked yellow like they were really old and dirty.
Great staff, great conditions; just the parking can be very difficult at some times, highly recommend to planning this if you travel with rental car, for me 4 and half stars.
Very helpful staff, good breakfast and comfortable beds and good wifi….great location near centre of town.
Beautiful room! AC worked perfectly and was so cool. The whole experience was wonderful. Highly recommend
My stay was incredibly comfortable, convenient and the food was great.
They have a steam room that we enjoyed so much.
