Right in front of the train station. Near restaurant's and shopping areas. Hotel close to tourist attractions. Very helpful and approachable front desk staff.
Great service and location. Staff was very helpful and kind.Room was clean and organized .Had a great view to the canal.
Great stay and wonderful location
The hotel and staff are wonderful. Our room overlooked the Grand Canal during Carnival. Very nice. The only minor issue we had was the bed and pillows. Both were very hard, but the room was very lovely and appointed very nicely. Great location across the canal from the train station. Easy to get to everything.
Very nice and good location
Everything was perfect except the room doesn’t have a window.. hotel really close to the airport and easy access to the transportation and all .
Very good breakfast. Friendly staff.
EXCELLENT
Across from the train station and has some retro chique. I loved it. Great price, easy to get around, friendly service. Recommended for sure, would absolutely stay again
Staff not friendly
Not 4 star would be 2 star at max
The hotel is not a 4 star by any means at max its 2 star old dates rooms felt like a updated prision cell a ridiculously view into an alley way or other peoples rooms so bad meant to be a superior room nothing superior about this room honestly possible worst room ive ever had wont ever be back we had to leave after couple hours pay for a new hotel
stayed here for 2 nights and booked the junior suite as price was good and defintely worth it! lovely spacious room - only thing missing was coffee machine. all staff very polite and helpful and breakfast was continental and good. very close to piazzale roma and station for train. area around was good with plenty of good bars and restaurants.
Beautiful Hotel, Good Location and Excellent service!
Perfect for what we needed
Fantastic property in an amazing location.
Great place
This trip was just perfect! The hotel was great and loved the room we stayed in with the windows and our view. Many dining options close by and right in front of the Grand Canal. Staff was very helpful and courteous.
Fantastic stay for my family of 4. Great breakfast and location.
Lovely property 😊
We had two single beds pushed together with a gap in between. The mattresses were very hard and we had uncomfortable sleeps with flat pillows. The external window shutters could not be opened and our room was in constant darkness, and we needed the lights on during the day. There was no kettle or coffee making facilities in the room. The shower had good hot water. We had a bathtub but unfortunately the plug wasn't big enough and the water quickly drained away. There were large stains on the ceiling and the wallpaper. The decor is old-fashioned and worn. The noise level was unreal. We could hear pedestrians, hallway conversations, talking from the room beside us and feet stomping from the floor above. The water pipes made a high-pitched screeching sound when people showered. Staff were mostly unfriendly. Breakfast was okay except for the scrambled eggs which were runny and too salty. The only good thing about this hotel is its closeness to Santa Lucia train station. Venice is wonderful but we do not recommend this hotel.
everything perfect except the room heater, basically quite cold. Highly recommended anyway, great staff, great location, great rooms
Great location
Staff very hospitable!
Avoid at all costs
Hotel was very expensive at £172 with breakfast for what you get. Room is extremely old and dirty looking. Smell of cigarettes as soon as I walked into the room even though there is a no smoking sign. Werid rule where you have to hand in your key every time you leave which seems pointless and just an inconvenience if the tills are busy or non staffed. Main issue is the walls are extremely thin so you can hear everything from the room above you as-well as outside the door and window which couldn’t be fully closed. Many many more hotels surrounding which are cheaper by a mile and immensely better quality without the hand in key rule. Overall definitely not worth the money compared to others much cheaper hotels I have visited. 2/10
few-minutes walking to train and water-bus stations to go islands and S. Marco area. Best to get 2 days pass for all. Hotel charges 17 euros more if you purchase Murano-Bruno islands from them. No coffee pot in rooms but quality water is drinkable from faucets. We enjoyed the hotel very much.
Their holiday party was amazing on new years eve..cute clasic hotel loved it
Everything was decent. However it’s odd that they still use keys and not cards and the requirement to leave the key at the front desk when leaving the room. Also more importantly the internet wifi was terrible and essentially non existent. This is 2025 not 1975.
It was the smallest 4 start hotel room that I saw. Very strange that our 2 rooms had different doors then all other rooms on the floor. Staff was f iendly and very helpful, great location to commute around Venice
great hotel
Amazing view and location
The hotel has amazing view and location on the canal Very friendly staff and clean rooms Highly recommend
I would like a partial refund. On my last night, the hotel lost electricity. I had no heat, and had an emergency spotlight go on all night that was pointed directly at the bed. I did not sleep all night. Also didn’t have water or phone. Couldn’t charge my cell phone. It was unpleasant to say the least. Also the walls are paper thin. Any noise from the street or neighboring rooms woke me up.
Great view of grand canal from our room. Friendly staff and convenient location.
Shower too small for a large person. Elevator fit 2 persons. Everything else is good.
Review on stay at Carlton on the Grand Canal
Beautiful place & personnel is very helpful
Great staff and convenient location right across the train station.
Excellent location and stay here. Staff was super friendly and parking was close for $35 (24 hours). Tasty breakfast and comfortable with great shower and water pressure.
Staff is not friendly and breakfast was ok, we’re disappointed.
Beautiful hotel on Grand Canal
Staff was rude. A lady from the restaurant states come out to tell I couldn’t eat from from outside when I was not even in the restaurant part of it. When I asked the lobby if this was a policy, she still came behind me to tell him after he said there was no policy in the matter that her director had said so. After asking the lobby again if I had to go to the street to eat my pizza, they finally let me eat it. Poor customer service
Even though this hotel is dated, the staff is very friendly and accommodating. Rooms are clean. Breakfast menu is good. It is approximately 5 minutes away from the train station and 20 minutes of the nice walk to Piazza San Marco.
Good
The hotel needs to be updated. The rugs in all the hallways are so old that it looks dirty no matter how much you clean them. They had random abandoned furniture in some areas of the hallways, which looked terrible. Our bathroom tub had mold on it since they were not cleaned correctly, but everything else seemed pretty clean. The breakfast in the morning was good and the staff was very nice. The location is far from St Mark Square. We walked it every day, but it took 20 minutes there and 20 minutes back. I was fine with it because I like the exercise, but if you don’t want to walk so much at the end of the day, You would have to take the water bus back.
Classic
Our stay was ok. There was water dripping from the ceiling leaving a puddle of water on the floor. There was only one towel in the room. We rang for another towel to be brought to our room which took around 40min and several calls to reception. We even offered to get it ourselves. However it was clean and the bed was very comfortable.
Very easily located across from the train station and right on the Grand Canal - so not only a big view, but easy access to the island, the vaporeto, etc. The staff were very nice. Breakfast had a lot of options. The rooms are small but this is the norm in Europe. The bed was very comfortable, which is not always the case in Italy!
Ok
The first room did not have a window. It was dark and oppressive and I felt very claustrophobic. Luckily we changed to much brighter room without the heavy wallpaper and opening windows!!!!’
Closr to train station
Easy walk from Pizzale Roma, no need to hire anyone to get to the hotel.
Good hotel and perfect locate to terminal and local transportation
Great location
We love the location of the property, right along the Grand Canal. What we didn’t like was the room and lack of comfort. After walking for hours we wanted an A/C cooled room with comfortable beds and pillows. The pillows were too thin and soft. The bed was also too soft and would shift on the frame. I don’t mind the “old” look but I do mind it not being kept up. I love the charm of it but it could be better. The A/C would blow warm air and there wasn’t proper ventilation. We had to leave the door open and the window open for fresh air. Other than that, I would recommend this hotel for the location and the staff was super friendly and helpful. Which I think most will not find at other properties. If you’re American, this is probably the best place to stay that’s budget friendly.
No additional commemts
Very close to railway and bus station, gondola ride ,water taxi station .
This is a real nice place to stay and also close to the piazza Roma making the commute easy via water taxi. Views from the hotel rooftop don’t disappoint
Good Place to Stay but bring Bug Spray
Very unique place to stay! The restaurant and the roof top bar are both fantastic! We were there in October and it was pretty nice outside most days and the air conditioning seemed to be turned off for the building. Which wasn't a huge deal as we just opened our balancy doors. This wouldn't have been a huge deal except the mosquitoes. I now have about 20 bites unfortunately which puts a downer on the rest of our trip.
I wasn’t expecting a lot and they didn’t disappoint! This is not a 4 star hotel it’s a 3 at best. We were supposed to get a room upgrade but got downgraded to a dumpy room with no heat and no blankets. The rooms and overall look of the hotel is dingy and ragged. Looks nothing like the pictures. If you have another option I suggest that.
A horrible experience. They haven’t got a clue.
This was probably the worst experience of my 30 year career as a travel photographer. The room still gives me nightmares. No heating or air conditioner. They said it was in between seasons. Had to sleep with the window open and no eye mask, ear plugs or sleeping pill could help to get a decent sleep. No coffee, no tea, no water just 2 miserable plastic cups. A 4 star room that was 1 star at best. I would suggest the manager/ owner see what hoteliers in the 21st century are like. Go to Tokyo, Singapore or Dubai. What a dump of a room. I wouldn’t put my dog up there. Avoid at all costs
Service very poor not friendly no coffee in room and not available till 7 am at 4 dollars a cup no ac even though it says it at booking shower old style with shower curtain
Would not recommend. The bed is very uncomfortable, the pillow was flat causing severe neck pain for the next few days. The bed has no comforter only a very rough cold cover. We had mosquitoes buzzing in our ears throughout the night. We were able to kill a few. The bathroom was ok, no complaints about that. Wouldn’t stay here again. The staff were friendly though so one star for that.
This must be the most spartan four star hotel we have stayed at. You get a bed, two towels, two plastic cups. No coffee maker, no water bottles, no extras. You want to charge your phone, you need to pull out a lamp from the socket. You will get old world charm in the form of physical keys to the room that you have to drop off at the desk before you step out or the writing pad next to the phone that doesn’t work. We found out that the city tax assessed in Italy depends on the star rating of the property, higher the rating, higher the tax. That might explain something.
The room smelled of a paint smell, the ceiling needed work. They didnt provide enough toilette paper, the girl at the counter was rude.
Great location near the station for a late check in & early departure. Breakfast v good & excellent value.
Very comfortable and lovely room decor. The food was e cellent and the staff were extremely polite and helpful !
Location, room, elegant.
There is a nice little street bar not too far down the stretch. we enjoyed late night drinks many times! Going back for sure
The property was a reasonable standard (but not of four star quality) the staff presented as not wanting to be there.
Great old hotel with traditional decor.
This is a really nice property, classic style. Great buffet breakfast, I would add this to your reservation. Easy location.
Beautiful Italian Hotel. Our room was done in old Italian style. It had a built in closets (3) plenty of room to hang and store items. The hotel and many outdoor seating areas. There is a lovely rooftop bar/restaurant. Dinner was delicious and the view was wonderful! The front desk will help you with any of your needs. Please note that if you have difficulty with stairs ask for a 1st floor room.
We had a room for 1 night only, room was very comfortable with a great shower, window had shutters which didn’t open very far but we looked out onto another roof so we weren’t too bothered about having the shutters open, fantastic location for bars and transport. Reception staff were very helpful.
They forgot one of our bags had to come back from crusie ship so instead of $85.00 for trip it was now $200.00. THEY SAID EVEDRYHTING WAS LAODED IT WAS NOT. Otherwise nice facility and staff.
Excellent service and location.
Dated bedroom , overpriced drinks, convenient courtyard, flat pillow
The location of the hotel was perfect for us; conveniently located across theGrand Canal
Nice location. Charming atmosphere.
Location was great, get a balcony room if possible. Couple who we traveled with had ants in their bed but after a tense talk another bed was found. Dinners were great with fresh fish and head waiter and sommelier was great. Breakfasts were adequate.
Good : staff cheerful and work hard to make your stay a pleasant one. Breakfst was convenient and tasted ok.
The Hotel is in the very convenience area just walk 2 min to the train station , is in front of the Hotel , crossing the canal , 2 min walking to the bus station , is the best location , staff in the reception very friendly and very helpful in every question that you have , Breakfast is fantastic , and when you check out the hotel they hold the luggage as many time as you want , in one world I’ll recommended this Hotel to anyone , was my best decision (after I read a lot of review )to chose this Hotel .
Very disappointed with the stay the room that was given was very bad air conditioning was horrible would not get cold and staff was unresponsive Breakfast was lousy too coffee machine not working properly and juice machine too was not proper. Room was very badly situated
The Area of the hotel was convenient to some of the restaurants, markets And coffee shops.
The location was excellent on the Grand Canal.
The property is very nice, front desk service friendly and helpful. I went to the roof top for a drink and dinner. I felt it a bit pretentious..seemed to cater more to customers who have dined there more often.
Fantastic position right on grand canal opposite railway station
An amazing property in a great location.
This hotel is just a few minutes walk away from the Venice train station. The staff are very friendly and held our luggage for us before check in time. Our bell hop took great care of bringing our luggage to our room. We noticed the walls are not as thick and you can hear people coming and going from their hotel rooms, which isn’t too much of a problem, but something to note. Did notice some spiders and mosquitoes in our room, but that’s about it. Our stay was still pleasant overall!
It’s a great location to the train and bus station. The staff was very helpful, polite and kind.
Nice Venetian style place Amazing location and service Friendly staff Ac on the 4th floor wasn’t good
Very nice property. Slightly small and old but nothing out of the ordinary. Nice breakfast, lovely staff, great views, and walking distance to everything.
Hotel is perfect for location as very near bus station and railway station. Our air conditioning worked perfectly unlike a lot of the other rooms. I feel the hotel is a bit tired and out dated and could do with a coat of paint especially on the outside
We had a room right overlooking the canal. Was great scenery. Very close to train station hired a porter to take our bags.
The room was nice and clean and the people were very friendly and accommodating.
Beautiful hotel. I think I would have liked a cooler room. I felt hot.
Fantastic. I will definitely stay again.
Directly across the canal from the train station in Venice.. making it a great option if coming from other points in Italy by train. Easy walk to points of interest in Venice. Rooms were very good; a/c was nice on the oppressively hot and humid days of August. Shower had great water pressure. Breakfast was great… when booking do yourself a favor and include the breakfast. Staff was friendly and helpful.
Great staff and beautiful historic property. Unfortunately it needs some basic updates. Things like A/C, electrical outlets, plumbing did not work properly.
Great location on the Grand canal, best suited for water transportation to limit excessive walking.
The staff was so nice
Average
The hotel is located right across the train station but to get to the hotel u have to climb a bridge to get to the other side with bags thats a hassle. The ferry terminal is also closely located. The breakfast staff are rude and non attentive. The front desk staff as well are not the most helpful.
Elegant, but not all you'd expect of 4*
We stayed here as it is one of only 5 wheelchair-accessible hotels in Venice, yet little details made it difficult to use a wheelchair in the room without a helper. Unusually, there was no mattress protector and when the staff saw that I'd put towels in the bed they set up layers of plastic (rather than fitted waterproof covers). It meant my husband slipped out of bed twice at night onto a hard floor. In the UK that would have been investigated and I would be in trouble for negligence! The orange juice was reconstituted but at least they had oat milk. The location, opposite the station, is only convenient if you can walk on water, but there is a delectable restaurant, Punta G just a little way behind the hotel.
Very friendly and helpful staff speaking excellent english. Great location - 2 minutes from vaporetto stop.
Rooms are nice but definitely older style. The bathroom shower and door it strange layout. If not careful, can easily wet the entire bathroom floor. The roof top bar is nice for cocktails.
Hotel was not worthy the money we spent. Too expensive for what you get. Room is very outdated, card keys are not available, old fashion room keys that I can’t believe still exist. AC is very weak. Room is very small. Shower drainage was broken and when I called customer service, they told me to wait till next day to fix while my family wanted to take shower very badly. Staff are very cheap, I paid over $900 for 2 nights and they didn’t budge for 10 cents from the taxes that I owe, very cheap. Dinner at the roof was expensive and not many selections. Don’t recommend this hotel to any one.
Too far away from St Peter’s that’s it the rest is ok When we check in the girl from Asia was great , but a guy I saw after was. Terrible !
Excellent location, right next to train station and several water bus stops. Very convenient with stores and restaurants right outside. Great facilities, very clean and spacious, especially the layout of the rooms. The service was great and staff were amazing. Would hope for a view of the canal next time

Hotel was old and loved the old times feel! Staff were outgoing and so helpful. Very clean. We overlooked the canal which was awesome
