Very well located small traditional hotel
We loved our stay at Hotel Blauer Bock when in Munich for Christmas Markets. The lobby & restaurant were beautifully decorated. Our room was comfortable and spacious. The staff was friendly and helpful. Breakfast was delicious with diverse selections with made to order options. The location was perfect--in a quiet area but an easy walk to Christmas Markets. Its also located just across the street from Eataly, the Italian market & restaurant. We would definitely stay here again.
Good hotel in a good location.
Very nice hotel within walking distance of most of the sites in Old Town. Bed was comfortable, room was spacious. Shower door needed adjustment to prevent water from running into the toilet area. Breakfast was good with a decent variety of typical European breakfast items (eggs to order also).
Just a 5 minute walk to the metro and Christmas market. Great breakfast in the morning. Across the street from Eatlay a large Italian market . The staff was super friendly and helpful
Perfect
Grat Hotel, close to the centre.
We stayed for the Christmas markets. The hotel was a 2 minute walk. Great breakfast, clean, fabulous area with tons of restaurants, coffee shops, etc. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!
Great hotel and location
Nice old hotel, updated and well done. Nice dining room for breakfast. Great location for exploring old town Munich and Christmas markets. Nice to have an Eataly across the street.
The breakfast is really good.
The staff were amazingly helpful, the location was excellent, the challenge was the shared bathroom…. Yep - shared bathroom and shower. 1 bathroom for the entire floor- glad it wasn’t busy season!
This hotel is very well situated for both sightseeing and shopping. It is in the middle of everything down town. It is an easy 5 minute walk to Marian Platz , and is right by the market and restaurants and bars. The staff are very friendly. Breakfast is a good variety. The room was not fancy but was comfortable . There was no safe in the room.
Location is the best! I can go to all the main attractions by walking!
Clean, well maintained, helpful friendly staff, nice breakfast provided. The internet seemed to require signing in every few hours, but it worked.
Was great! Super clean, cute, and cozy and couldn’t be more walkable—so convenient to walk from place to place and as a solo traveler also felt very safe.
Located in the Old Town, shopping and sightseeing is almost right at your doorstep. Not so near to the Marienplatz station, so it is relatively quieter and feels safer at night. Hotel reception staff are nice and friendly. The junior suite was spacious, although quite pricey. I think that is expected for hotels located in the surrounding areas.
Lovely breakfast. Close to Marienplatz
I really loved everything about this place and all of the staff are very friendly. I would definitely recommend your hotel. 😊
This is a older historic hotel but definitely worth the stay. Its with a short walk to anything and everything you will want to do. Staff was friendly and the morning breakfast is very nice with lots of options.
Great location. Rooms kind of ordinary, but clean and beds are comfortable. Very good breakfast.
Perfect location. Clean, comfortable, great breakfast. Location was perfect near Marianplatz.
This property is extremely dated. It does not have AC and was very expensive for what I paid. I felt like I was in a student dorm. The staff are lovely and friendly. Breakfast was included and had a decent variety to choose from. The breakfast staff were very busy and it was hard to get their attention for coffee or cooked breakfast. The location of the hotel is great as it is only about an 8 min walk to Maienplats. Probably would not stay here again though which is a shame as the location is brilliant.
Secure room opened to a welcome gift of a basket of fresh fruit which was much appreciated on our 3 night stay. The morning breakfasts were a delicious adventure. Convenient to the attractions and restaurants too. Just stay here and you won't regret it.
Booked a “suite” which was really not much more than a couch in another room. Plain looking room with blank walls, lousy coffee machine, poor tv choices, and No AC! Would have been okay with windows open, but the area is extremely noisy with traffic, bars, patios, people yelling-even at midnight! No bellman, no ramps for bags, no soda machine, and not worth the price.
Great hotel and very friendly, helpful staff. Safe parking. Easy to walk everywhere. Only downside is no air conditioning but they do have fans.
Great place to stay, typical yet good breakfast. Friendly staff! They accomdated me with a couple of requests, like extra hangers.
The staff were very friendly and accommodating. The location was terrific.
Right in the heart of the action sits this wonderful hotel! Excellent and helpful staff and the breakfast is wunderbar!!! A must!!
Location is great! Rooms sufficient and breakfast wonderful. Parking available was helpful.
Great all around
We loved how conveniently located this hotel was. Also loved staying in the room with a shared bathroom. Also right by the bus. Would return anytime gladly. Breakfast was phenomenal!!
Fabulous location. Staff very friendly
Disappointed
The location is fantastic, however the listing does not mention several key factors. There is no air-conditioning so we had to keep our windows open all night. In the morning it gets very noisy early (6:30-7am) with delivery trucks, street sweepers and traffic. The bar/restaurant is closed on Monday. And there really is no bar/restaurant at all, it’s just food served outside, but no place to really hang out. Overall the cost of the hotel combined with lack of amenities was disappointing.
Great place to stay! Excellent service!
Nice hotel. Would stay there again. Great breakfast. Close to the city center.
Review
The location is super Room was vert small No Air-condition
Good location
The staff was good and accommodating. The room was comfortable but quite small. Breakfasts were good. We were put off by sign which states you’ll be charged an additional 30 euros if you take any food out of restaurant. Location was convenient but one pays for it as hotel was pricey compared to locations away from city center.
Clean cosy room in amazing location
Clean cosy room. Small bed and room but had everything you need and bonus points for being in the city centre. It is 10-15 minutes walk from tourist attractions like the city hall with the clock.
Great stay in the citycenter
It is in a great location, very central, close to many attractions. The staff was very friendly, breakfast was great, the rooms are small but the bed is clean and comfortable.
Breakfast had wonderful selections. Everything we wanted to see or do was nearby. The pillows were just awful. They totally disappeared when you laid your head down. Heated towel rack did not work. They told us maintenance would come by and fix it, but that never happened. Room was so small, that my husband and I had a tough time getting around each other
Very convenient location one block from Viktualienmarkt with their own sleepy little Sebastienplatz featuring a few cafes. Directly across from Eataly and one block from Der Pschorr, also sidewalk pizza cafes and others nearby, so you have a little bit of everything in Old Town Munich. Hotel Blauer Bock breakfast buffet is very nice, and service and friendliness here are excellent. Rooms clean and minimal with a nice old world feel to them, like a comfortable dormitory, which makes sense for a prior monastery. I walked easily from Marienplatz and from Sendlinger Tor Ubahn stops with my luggage. Stayed three nights over two separate weekends. Reasonably quiet.
Nice stay
Well located. Comfortable. Nice breakfasts. Within a walk of most tourist sites. Friendly and helpful staff. Accommodating
This is a wonderful quaint hotel, historic in nature, yet with all the modern amenities you would expect. However, the best thing about Blauer Bock is its convenient location, complete (and excellent!) breakfast, and kind service. The location is perfect for Muenchner connoisseurs as well as newbies who want to have convenient and quick access to all the beauty the city has to offer. The adjacent Viktualienmarkt offers a variety of excellent casual eating along with other quality restaurants nearby. Marienplatz is about a 5 minute walk from where you see the Rathaus and many other worthy sites. Munich is immensely walkable so that all key attractions are easily reached. The breakfast buffet is replete with local delicacies. Coffee is generously served by a very friendly and hospitable staff. Yogurt, muesli, eggs, German bread, cold cuts, etc. are plentiful. All in a setting of tablecloths, cloth napkins, and real cutlery (no plastic!). Lastly, the staff is very helpful and kind with the owner/manager visibly working alongside his co-workers. Whether it is the front desk, restaurant, or room service, they are the best. The property was very clean and well-cared for. Highly recommend! Ganz herzlichen Dank für die wunderbare Bewirtung und Betreuung!
A 200 year old property in the heart of Marienplatz
The rooms were a little on the smaller side for single bedroom. Other than that, everything else is great about this hotel.
Munich
This location was perfect. Great courtyard with fun restaurants. Blocks from everything. Not sure how summer would be with limited AC. Free breakfast a real plus. Internet spotty.
I would definitely go back and recommend this hotel
Buffet was limited, but hotel was excellent. Very friendly service.
Love this place! Great location, very friendly staff and great German breakfast.
2 nights in Munich
The economy double room was a good budget option, allowing us to be right in the center of town and able to walk all over. I was nervous about the shared bathroom, but it was very clean and only two other women had access to it during our stay (and no other men using the shared men’s room). The bathroom door can be locked when taking a shower and it had good water pressure and temperature. The economy room was pretty warm at night (early June), so we had to open the window, and there is a good bit of street noise, causing us to close the window to be able to sleep. Breakfast buffet was fantastic, lots of food choices from meat slices and cheese, sausages, fresh breads and pastries, yogurts, musli, fresh juices including blood orange juice and more. All the staff were courteous and helpful. We would stay here again.
Fantastic hotel - standout breakfast!
Very centrally located hotel. Great room. Relaxed atmosphere and totally outstanding breakfast. I last stayed here in 1987 and remembered how good it was then - standards today are just as high!
Great breakfast, staff, and location. It was very clean with all the amenities. Only thing was no a/c so we had to leave our windows open but the street outside was very noisy. Bring earplugs!
Nice property, good location to Marienplatz, and Viktuallenmatket. Breakfast service was good. Look for pricing fluctuations , I booked when a convention was in town( how would I know) therefore much more than the regular room rate, they had a special 2 for price of 3 nights, I inquired about it and they still didn’t offer it to me.
Great location
Great stay
Very nice hotel in a great location. The staff went above and beyond in every way. Would definitely recommend and stay again
Great location near Marienplatz and several places to shop or eat. Friendly staff and yummy breakfast in the mornings. Good size room and quiet. Only complaint is the shower sprayed everywhere but on you and tended to get all over the floor. It's like the hose had some weird memory in it. Small thing, though, and would recommend a stay here!
Excellent hotel
3 night stay for NFL Munich game. Great position in the Old Town, close to Marienplatz U-Bahn station. The hotel has a charming historical feel to it, hotel and rooms are exceptionally clean, breakfast is good with plenty of choice. Christmas markets were setting up, ideal location and environment to celebrate the festive season, I’ll be back!
The staff was extremely friendly and accommodating. The daily breakfast was excellent. Great location from Old Town and walkable.
Great location to the main plaza, excellent service, updated bathrooms, breakfast was very good, they even made some Scrambled eggs and bacon for us. Would stay here again.
Great location. Breakfast was excellent.
Excellent Bavarian style. Perfect location.
Very nice, comfortable rooms. Nice shower! Great location for tourists.
Great location
Hotel Blauer Bock was very nice. The woman that checked us in was super sweet -- gave us all kinds of recommendations. We loved the bathroom--it was large and we had two sinks which was wonderful! The breakfast was very nice. The location was excellent, close walk to public transportation and all the tourist sites. The only downfall was the weather was unusually warm and the room did not have AC which we were aware of. Other places we stayed in Europe which did not have AC at least had fans which helped. The room was so small, there wasn't room for a fan. But a ceiling fan would be a nice addition. Other than that, the place fit our needs perfectly!
Great location! Rooms are very clean and beds are very comfortable.
Lovely hotel.
Wonderful hotel close to Marienplatz.
Very welcoming and extremely clean. All 4 of us enjoyed our 3 night stay. Price included a delicious breakfast also.
GOOD LOCALITY
Very friendly staff made experience and visit A1. Location to museums and markets a bonus. My visit close to Christmass and the Christkindelmarkt was magical in the snow
Pleasant place to stay near center of town
This is a very pleasant place to stay, not elegant but charming with friendly staff. The location is ideal, very close to but not quite in the center of town on a reasonably quiet street. The breakfast was quite good, rooms were compact but comfortable.
Very nice hotel is incredible location
Very nice hotel, great location, shared bathroom
The hotel is located within a very short walk to the Marienplatz plaza and train station, in the heart of Munich. The hotel feels very much like a bed and breakfast, with cozy rooms and a friendly and helpful staff. The breakfast area is very comfortable, and there are many options from which to choose. The only downside to this hotel are the shared bathrooms. There is one bathroom for men, and another for women, on each floor. Each bathroom includes one toilet, one sink, and one shower. We were fortunate to visit during a slow season and had no issues. However, I can only imagine the logistical nightmare it could have caused if the hotel were more crowded.
Very Nice Hotel in the Heart of Old Town
Enjoyed a five night stay here. Great location near all Old Town sights and restaurants. Easy access to the S and U bahn trains. Just two stops on the S bahn from the Central Train Station. Booked a larger room because of the length of our stay and enjoyed the extra space. Very good breakfast in an attractive room.
Lovely quiet hotel in the centre of Munich.
Great location in the centre of Munich, close to many amenities. I found the room comfortable and clean. There was no disturbances from outside even with the window open. The staff were very friendly and efficient.
A basic hotel, no frills but everything you need. A great staff and a very convenient location.
Very comfortable. Ideal location for tourists or business in central Munich.
Great location
Just perfect location and very comfortable- - simple, not extravagant
Great stay
Really nice place to stay within easy walking distance to virtually everything you want to do in Munich. We were there in Sep with nice weather so no need for AC which like most hotels in the area they don't have. Also had a room facing the back so no street noise with the windows open. If you're driving, make sure to reserve a parking space. Great breakfast.
good location but room had no air-con! Breakfast was good. stuffs were friendly and helpful
Clean and comfortable. Breakfast OK
Comfortable hotel in the middle of Munich
Five minutes walk to Marienplatz. Noisy at saturday night
Great location but no A/C
If you are going at a time that the weather is cooler I would recommend this hotel but in August it was miserable. Our windows only cracked 1-2 inches and there are no fans. We had some really hot August days and sleeping was miserable. Our rooms were spacious and clean. The breakfast buffet was excellent. It is in an excellent location in the heart of downtown. We were able to walk to the main train station in about 15-20 minutes. We booked with Expedia and the guaranteed lowest rate, however, we were booked into a senior discount that we didn't ask for and didn't qualify. When we arrived they made us pay an additional 10 euro's per room per night. This was not a pleasant check-in for a pre-paid reservation. Expedia is not responding to my e-mails about the mix-up. Very disappointing because in the past we have had a good customer service experience.
perfect location but not very comfortable
I've stayed here a couple times. Location is hard to beat, I could walk everything yet the ubahn station was around the corner. Its also on the same line as the airport. But the room was very small, and I could not get the wifi to work both times I stayed here. Will consider staying elsewhere the next time I visit Munich.
Great location right in the heart of Munich. Perfect for vacationers with restaurnats, historic sites, etc. all nearby. Only issue....it was quite hot during our stay and rooms do not have air conditioning.
In an old building but that's where it gets some of its charm. Location was outstanding within walking distance to outdoor markets, shopping, Marienplatz and museums. Other than the rainy weather, we thoroughly enjoyed Munich.
Great location, great price
Great location, just around the corner from where you want to be. Everything is within walking distance. The staff was super friendly and helpful, even letting us store luggage until we could check in. Breakfast was a full German spread, will not disappoint. Only con is the shared bathroom. It was upstairs a floor, and only 1 for men and 1 for women. Showers in those, would like to see that separated or additional bathrooms.
A great stay
Very well positioned for so many places of interest. Easy walking. Convenient for U and S lines.
Hotel in old town of munich
we stayed at this hotel for three nights in July. The hotel is situated in the old town very close to viktualianmarkt where you can buy upmarket food produce. Staff were friendly on arrival and told us about a street music festival that was taking place nearby on evening of our arrival. Munich is a very nice city with plenty of eateries catering for all tastes that you would expect to find in a large city. Plenty of historic sights churches, art galleries etc and there was a street entertainment band that was probably the b st street act we have seen. The only issue was no air con in hotel room so had to leave the windows open and it was very noisy outside until the early hours so got no sleep.
Pluses: Terrific customer service, helpful front desk staff, nice breakfast, simple room at a great price. Negatives: My 1st floor room on a busy thoroughfare was quite loud through the night due to various revelers in the area. Also, there is no a/c, which was significant during a heat wave.
Nice hotel close to Old Town Centre
The staff were excellent and room obviously renovated and very clean. Plentiful breakfast. Hotel offers wifi however it is a Telekom hotspot that I found very slow most of the time. Because the hotel is almost in the very centre of the action, there was quite a lot of noise from outside traffic and entertainment venues. There was no aircon and the only way to reduce the noise was to close windows - made the room quite stuffy (summer). If you are looking for somewhere quiet, not for you. If you want to be close to the action, it would suit.
In the heart of Munich
Accommodating staff, clean upmarket rooms, inclusive breakfast and reasonable rates in the heart of Munich. we couldn't ask for more.
Great night in Munich
The location was in the city center which was very convenient. The service was great, particularly the multilingual skills of the staff and the staff's knowledge of the city's main destinations. Breakfast should not be missed. It's great.
Review of the place
Had the economy room only problem their was only one shower bathroom to use. So that made a problem at times
Central hotel and accessible to airport
Excellent hotel, I recommend it. Single room was very comfortable but be careful not to book the seniors rate as you'll have to pay extra on arrival at the hotel.
Small but clean and comfortable
Great location but early morning noice from market across the street. Room had everything but German efficiency meant it was smaller and tighter than we were used to. All good though.
Great location- small room
We recently spent four nights, and the location is perfect. We chose a standard double, and the room was small (we are accustomed to this in Europe), noisy on the street side and very warm (a fan helped a bit). The breakfast was fine.
Clean, Close to Marienplatz
The hotel was clean, and well maintained. The breakfast was really really good. We went cheap and got a room with the shared bathroom. We figured that was going to be plural Shared Bathrooms(s). Mistake. It wasn't the worst thing in the world. I've lived in dorms before. But even one guy taking a shower didn't stop you from being able to relieve yourself in the dorms. Here it did. They should really take out a room and double bathroom capacity. Add a couple of gender neutral toilets not connected to the shower. Maybe add a gender neutral shower stall without a toilet too. It was occasionally a nuisance. Never saw a line though, so a minimal amount of more shower/bathroom space would have done wonders. As is more common as you go north, No AC. So i was sleeping above the sheets and windows open. I'm not faulting them for this, its common in the area. But it is worth knowing. If you cant take the heat, be aware in the summer. I sweat alot, which really compounded the shower availability problem. Outside of that, we enjoyed our location. We could walk everywhere, or quickly get to public transportation. I cant stress the quality of breakfast enough. The staff was helpful when asked for anything. I also loved the system of leaving the key at the desk. Whether I recommend this hotel is entirely dependent upon your priorities.
very well located, historic hotel with great staff
We were quite satisfied with this hotel. A historic property in a great neighborhood and they clearly work hard to keep things up to snuff. Only complaint is poorly supported internet... despite routers on every floor there was still a challenge keeping dedicated connection.
Hotel very close to Marienplatz and so very easy to go around by public transport. Breakfast included and good choices Lots of restaurants nearby and staff very helpful
Ideal hotel for visiting Munich
Great hotel in a very convenient position. Breakfast superb. Have already recommended hotel to friends.
Great location
Great location and within walking distance to many places. 5 minutes from Marienplatz. Single room was small by North American standards but reasonable for a single traveler.
Nice location but little comfort for the price
We stayed at the hotel just one night. The location of the hotel is great. The staff is friendly. The room was clean but with very little comfort. A small room with no chair for sitting (with the exception of a small wooden desk chair) and a tv in a size of a tablet. The bathroom was very small and was lacking the usual amenities (shampoo, cotton pads, etc.). We felt the price was too high given all of the above.

Superb value for money. Fantastic location. Onsite parking. Kind helpful staff. Somewhat dated rooms. Breakfast fine.
