Beautiful hotel at the center of the city. Walking distance to shopping centers and good restaurants

Great stay , beautiful hotel.

It was so special; the bathroom was huge! We went to dinner inside the hotel. Everything was top door.

Christmas at Hotel Birks

Family get-away for Christmas. Two separate rooms. Nice views of park with Holiday decorations. Everything spotless. Beds and linens the best quality. Could hear the footsteps of guests above us a little too well but nothing major.

Staying at this hotel was an absolute dream! From the moment we arrived, the ambiance was warm, elegant, and inviting, setting the perfect tone for our stay. The staff went above and beyond to ensure every detail was perfect—they were attentive, friendly, and genuinely cared about making our experience exceptional. This is truly one of the best hotels I’ve ever stayed at, and I wouldn’t hesitate to return. If you’re looking for luxury, comfort, and outstanding service, this is the place to be!

Beautiful property in heart of Montreal.

Hotel Birks is a beautiful old building, and may be that is why the hotel rooms are not well soundproofed. The hotel asks to be informed if there is noise after 11pm. So it is obviously an issue for some guests. The room was very comfortable with super gorgeous beds, pillows and bedding. We loved the fire and its bonus to be able to chromecast from your own devices. We enjoyed cocktails in Henri’s bar but it seemed a bit absurd to us that one of the house signature cocktails wasn’t available due to a lack of strawberries and the gin. We were offered replacement options but perhaps it would be best to let client’s know ahead that something is not available. The reception team seemed a little overwhelmed as they were covering luggage, check in check out and general questions…that’s a lot for two people. There were a few details like this that make me think that Birks has the opportunity to be better value for money - eg ensure paint on the ceiling of the shower is not peeling, put more than two nespresso pods in the room, offer large bottles of water in the room. These are all stupid little things I am aware and overall we had a great stay. The brunch was amazing and service in the brasserie lovely. Montreal has great hotels making it competitive and while we would consider going again it wouldn’t be our first choice.

This is a beautiful historic hotel in the middle of everything in downtown Montreal. Everything about this hotel is elegant - the lobby, the restaurant, the rooms. Can recommend it highly enough!

The hotel is beautiful. We loved the room with a fireplace and nespresso coffee maker. We also loved the restaurant/bar, and how attentive the staff were to our requests around the holidays. However beautiful the room, sadly the gym lacked proper modern equipment. As a couple who enjoys working out on vacation, we were disappointed. But the rest of the hotel was stunning and we would happily stay again :)

Hotel is great, rooms really nice and staff very efficient. Issue is more around the hotel, lots of construction and not the cleanest. Nothing with hotel but disappointing nonetheless.

From the minute our driver dropped us off to the moment our driver picked us up the staff was extraordinary, professional and so helpful. The hotel is absolutely beautiful and very well maintained. Enjoyed our stay!!

Beautiful hotel

We used to love the Burke Hotel! This is our 3rd stay and the last. The service was slow everywhere, the check in took 20 minutes, the room was nice but the coffe and Kleenex were not stocked and the wine glasses were dirty. The service at Brasserie Henri that we normally love was SO SLOW. Friday night we had diner at the bar. The restaurant was almost empty and it took 20 minutes to get a glass of wine and an hi Our for the entree. This morning, it took 20 minutes just to get coffee. And the food was cold when it arrived much later. The restaurant wasn’t full at all. Clients were complaining about the slow service and lack of service everywhere around us. I got up and spoke to the hostess and she said they have no staff that wants to work on Saturdays. I also did not eat my avocado toast because the avocado was all rotten and brow n. Well that doesn’t explain Friday night. We are not satisfied and moving on.

Loved it, bathtub was exquisite.

My room 517 was super noisy with an engine of sort running all night. It was disruptive and not expected given the attention to details of the hotel. The hotel room faced the back of the hotel where I believe deliveries are made and saw a few parked cars

Love this hotel

This was our first stay at Hotel Birks and we will definitely be back! The staff was very attentive and was able to answer all our questions. There was a minor issue in our room and the repairman arrived in 5 minutes! Service in the restaurant and bar area was amazing, as was the food. 5 stars for this hotel!

Great rooms and mine even had a cozy fireplace. The phone was out of order, which was very annoying as I could not use it for room service. I hd to go to the reception to order. They did not fix it when agreed but in spite of this, i loved the hotel and the price was way better than Sofitel (where I had originally booked but chose to cancel due to unannounced renovations ).

From the moment we arrived the staff were there to make everything as easy and welcoming possible. I was impressed on how they paid attention to details such as knowing our names and our valet number for our car so that our car was always ready for us. The vibe of the hotel was festive during this holiday season. We really enjoyed our stay and highly recommended this hotel.

Beautiful hotel. Tastefully furnished and very comfortable suite. Would have preferred not to stay in a conjoined suite. Guests next door were loud and made it difficult to get a good night’s sleep. Concierge said that he would have the manager follow up the next day after our initial complaint, but we were never contacted. We would have appreciated a different room, some mild compensation or just hearing from them. Despite the noise, we would return.

The room we stayed at was nice but with strange layout. The bathroom was totally opened to the bedroom. The sofa bed was not suitable time sleep on. You feel the metal tubes of the frame when you lie on it. The hotel should not market this room to a family of 4. The shower had low pressure. The closet was inconvenient to use. The room thermostat was set to 21 degrees and after a few hours the temperature of the room got to 26 degrees. Sometimes you call downstairs and it takes a minute or 2 until they answer. The restaurant downstairs offers breakfasts but not tasty. Bellboys are not always available. When we left the hotel with five pieces of luggage, no one assisted us in holding the door to the outside of the building. House keeping was great as well as the drinks at the bar.

Beautiful hotel nice stay and great restaurant. Valet was a little hit or miss, they emailed with an address for the valet. That address in Apple Maps took me to the wrong place. Also valet area was very small leaving me to circle the block at rush hour till a spot opened up, twice I had to go hunting to find the valet to drop off keys.

This property is absolutely gorgeous from the lobby to the room. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Montreal. Staff was friendly and helpful. Hotel is in a great location, we did not drive anywhere except when it was time to leave and only because we had luggage. Train station is a 3-5 minute drive away.

Beautiful property, nice decor and great location!

Exceptional stay and service. It’s our second time here and will be returning! Great central location in Montreal making most destinations walkable. The valet parking is very convenient as well. Clean and lovely.

The hotel is close to a number of sights and access to the metro is across the street. In a neighborhood with lots of restaurant choices.

It was dank

The only issue I had was I couldn’t stand the overwhelming perfume smell they had piped in everywhere. You could taste it in your mouth it was so thick. Thankfully it wasn’t in the rooms just the lobby and restaurant.

I stayed here a year ago and something is different. The front desk staff, the bed and shower are still superior. However, the service for the room along with room service has nosedived. Hope it was just a glitchy two days.

Very nice hotel

My wife made 2 phone calls, showed up in person to the front desk at one of the nights to ask for a refill of shower cap. The room service staff brought in a bunch of items 2 different times that she did not ask for. The next day morning, we saw 2 shower caps left at the room doorstep outside. This is not the 5 star hotel I was expecting and we will never return.

Fabulous!

This was my first time staying here. It surpassed every other hotel I have stayed in. I received and upgrade to a gorgeous corner room that looked like it was just decorated yesterday. Every attention to detail to the super comfortable bed to the amazing gbathroom was incredible. The restaurant Henri was wonderful too.

The property was beautiful

The room was dirty. There was dirt on the walls and floors in the bathroom and living area that was not touched during the duration of our stay for 5 nights. I have pictures, if needed. The slippers provided were previously used. Was given only one drinking glass and one wine for a party of two. Hamburger served in the restaurant was cold. The replacement order was also cold. Our room was described as facing the garden. Apparently, the garden is a roof top with fake grass & plastic plants and noisy equipment. This facility is certainly not a 5 star hotel as advertised. Very disappointed but unable to shorten my stay due to Expedia.com policy.

Very elegant hotel. Great service. Close to shops. Easy drive to old town Montreal.

The property is pretty and you can walk everywhere. The restaurant is lovely, although short staffed, but the service was still great. The property is a little bit dated and the trash room on floor six was open with trash bags most of the time we were there (four days). I would also suggest some bird mitigation because the amount of bird droppings on the terrace dissuaded us from actually using it. Overall an enjoyable stay.

We were met by Tony, the Concierge, who made us feel so welcome and went out of his way to provide us with helpful information. The hotel itself was spectacular! The room was beautifully appointed, with an array of amenities and the beds were incredibly comfortable! A lovely stay and one I hope to repeat!

Beautiful property. Five star property With a definite luxury feel but the size and service of a boutique hotel. The on-site restaurant Henri was exquisite.

Nice property with tidy room. Staff were friendly and attentive. Unfortunately the room was very loud, you could hear the other guests going in and out of their rooms and cleaning staff outside of the door.

A wonderful little hotel..so beautifully warm and inviting. We stayed for 3 nights and will absolutely be coming back on our next visit to Montreal. It overlooks Phillips Square and is a perfect location to a little shopping and so many restaurants to choose from.

The Staff was so polite, friendly and helpful. The inter and exterior was absolutely beautiful

Not the Five Star experience we expected

While the public areas were nice, we found cleanliness issues in our room and the service was spotty - average at best. We had requested a quiet room and there isn't such a thing in the hotel. They say they have "soundproofed" their rooms - but the traffic and hustle and bustle of the busy square and streets around the hotel were very evident in the room despite a white noise machine and earplugs. We really wanted to like the hotel however, the service, cleanliness and noise overshadowed our experience. If you want a quiet room - stay elsewhere.

It is our first time visiting Montreal and really impress with the city, the hotel, the food and the people. We arrived very early due to overnight flights from SFO and The Birks hotel really did their best to accommodate us earlier than 4p as the c/in time. We checked in around 2pm. We will come back if we visited Montreal again and really recommend the hotel for other travelers visiting the city. Thank you so much The Birks and Expedia for the pleasant stay.

For 5 star hotel I’m not impressed

The restaurant room service lacked the 5 star expectations. The delivery was sent to wrong room number, then called us and said we didnt answer. Finally after I located him knocking again on the wrong down, he presented a bill with a $189 bottle of wine, which was supposed to be $70.

I would have no issue returning. Definitely a 5 star hotel.

Upscale hotel in Montreal

The rooms were very comfortable and well maintained. The bedroom was very clean although the toilet could have been cleaner. There were no robes in our room when we got there so we had to request them. Everyone was helpful in resolving the issues. The staff at the door were helpful in getting taxis for us although there were times when there was no one there.

This is a truly honest review. I seriously could not fault this hotel. Beautiful, elegant and grand is this hotel in Montreal. The staff and the service they executed was flawless. The room was wonderful, warm and comfortable. I will definitely be back!!
