Outstanding location. Wonderful and friendly staff.

Great hotel, perfect location at the centre of downtown. Room was large and comfortable and staff were very helpful and friendly.

Untrained Front Desk Staff: During our check-in, the front desk staff wasted 15 minutes by insisting we use a credit card with a chip, which banks in our country don’t provide. I pointed out that her card machine could accept swipe functionality, but she told us to "find a solution" instead of trying to resolve the issue herself. After I requested she speak to her manager, she returned and finally admitted that the machine could also process swipes. I filed a complaint with the duty manager and hope they make improvements, but it was by far the worst check-in experience, especially for a property in such a great location.

Always a perfect stay.

Kind staff, beautiful hotel, comfortable and clean room. Only negative is that the spa is advertised on the website still, though it’s not there anymore.

Absolutely gorgeous place with an amazing view of the Cathedral- right from the room. The lighting at night is beautiful in the center at night. The rooms are simple and modern yet elegant. Extremely clean, very nice staff. The restaurant on site was A with fantastic French Fare. Priced reasonably for the area and hotel elegance. Stay here.

Fabulous place. Staff were fantastic

Outside our room there was loud yelling all night long . After our stay they asked how everything was and I told them terrible. They disregarded my comment and just took my cash Not staying here again...

Great location walkable to Old Montreal and to shopping and retail. Workout area was too small and suite was very warm, had to run AC in the middle of winter. Great bar and staff.

Five star experience in downtown Montréal!

Had to move rooms , our upgrade was really not much of an upgrade but then they had to move us as our TV did not work. Once we got into our other room the TV again did not work. Wi-Fi was a huge issue. Would not stay there again.

We had a wonderful stay at Hotel Birks, right from the moment we pulled up at valet to the moment we left the valet three days later. All of the staff (valet, reception, and housekeeping) were incredibly kind and accommodating. The room was beautiful and very comfortable. We’d definitely stay here again.

Lovely hotel. We had everything we needed. Bathrobes, slippers, and a Nespresso coffee maker. Bed was very comfortable and pillow were great! Everyone was so nice. Service was great. Wouldn’t hesitate to stay again

This hotel is always solid with great rooms and comfortable beds! If you get FREE valet parking with Hotels.com and drive a pick-up truck, they will not honor it BUT if you have a suburban or Escalade they will. Make it make sense. Rude valet at check in but on check out the guys were nice. Regardless, the perk was not honored and I needed to pay an extra $45 to park elsewhere. PS there are plenty of out front spots (in front and side) to keep “oversized” even though mine is not but they chose to keep it empty and then did park another guest’s F150 in the front.

I love this hotel it’s beautiful. It feels like home and the guy at the front desk, he works 3 pm till 11 PM. He is so pleasant and helpful we could come to him about anything and he knew the the answer very sufficient. This hotel is a must. I will be returning very very soon..

Such a wonderful place to stay in Montréal. The hotel itself, the staff and the food by Henri make for such a wonderful stay in Montreal.

Stayed here to see the Christmas markets - close walk! The only negative is the fireplace in our room didn’t work :(

We are Montrealers taking a break from the crazy metro-boulot-school-dog park routine and stay in hotels in Mtl for one night. This is one of our favorite with the Henri restaurant at the RC provides a recipe for a great evening

We're stayed at Birks over the years and return to the hotel every time. We've never been disappointed in any of the many times we've stayed there.

Great choice! Very well located. Walking distance to all downtown MTL

It was surprisingly bad. Our room was dirty. Unfinished water bottle next to the nightstand. We found a tube of ointment on the sofa bed. Sofa bed is the most uncomfortable we have ever tried. You can feel the springs hurting your back. We asked housekeeping for more blankets to make the sofa bed better and some extra pillows but they didn’t have any available. There was a party in the room next to us until 5AM. Complained several times and nothing happened. Ended up checking out a day early. Told management about our complaints. Nothing was done. We had another stay booked a few days later. We cancelled and booked at the Ritz for almost the same price. The Ritz was amazing

Great experience

The king room had been remodeled at some point but still had the original and very inadequate closet space. In general, the room lacked storage with only an older dresser for additional storage. The bathroom remodel was awkward, the shower door only opened inwards and against the shower controls making it very difficult to turn on and adjust temperature without getting in. The shaving mirror was not firmly fixed to the wall and one of the bulbs on the illuminated mirror was out which indicates daily maintenance does not happen.The HVAC seemed to have a mind of it's own, the room kept getting overly hot and requiring manual override to cool it down again. The one time we wanted room service we were told the kitchen was closed! We would not choose to stay at this hotel again given the price point.

Christmas at Hotel Birks

Family get-away for Christmas. Two separate rooms. Nice views of park with Holiday decorations. Everything spotless. Beds and linens the best quality. Could hear the footsteps of guests above us a little too well but nothing major.

Staying at this hotel was an absolute dream! From the moment we arrived, the ambiance was warm, elegant, and inviting, setting the perfect tone for our stay. The staff went above and beyond to ensure every detail was perfect—they were attentive, friendly, and genuinely cared about making our experience exceptional. This is truly one of the best hotels I’ve ever stayed at, and I wouldn’t hesitate to return. If you’re looking for luxury, comfort, and outstanding service, this is the place to be!

Beautiful property in heart of Montreal.

Hotel Birks is a beautiful old building, and may be that is why the hotel rooms are not well soundproofed. The hotel asks to be informed if there is noise after 11pm. So it is obviously an issue for some guests. The room was very comfortable with super gorgeous beds, pillows and bedding. We loved the fire and its bonus to be able to chromecast from your own devices. We enjoyed cocktails in Henri’s bar but it seemed a bit absurd to us that one of the house signature cocktails wasn’t available due to a lack of strawberries and the gin. We were offered replacement options but perhaps it would be best to let client’s know ahead that something is not available. The reception team seemed a little overwhelmed as they were covering luggage, check in check out and general questions…that’s a lot for two people. There were a few details like this that make me think that Birks has the opportunity to be better value for money - eg ensure paint on the ceiling of the shower is not peeling, put more than two nespresso pods in the room, offer large bottles of water in the room. These are all stupid little things I am aware and overall we had a great stay. The brunch was amazing and service in the brasserie lovely. Montreal has great hotels making it competitive and while we would consider going again it wouldn’t be our first choice.

This is a beautiful historic hotel in the middle of everything in downtown Montreal. Everything about this hotel is elegant - the lobby, the restaurant, the rooms. Can recommend it highly enough!

The hotel is beautiful. We loved the room with a fireplace and nespresso coffee maker. We also loved the restaurant/bar, and how attentive the staff were to our requests around the holidays. However beautiful the room, sadly the gym lacked proper modern equipment. As a couple who enjoys working out on vacation, we were disappointed. But the rest of the hotel was stunning and we would happily stay again :)

Hotel is great, rooms really nice and staff very efficient. Issue is more around the hotel, lots of construction and not the cleanest. Nothing with hotel but disappointing nonetheless.

From the minute our driver dropped us off to the moment our driver picked us up the staff was extraordinary, professional and so helpful. The hotel is absolutely beautiful and very well maintained. Enjoyed our stay!!

Beautiful hotel

We used to love the Burke Hotel! This is our 3rd stay and the last. The service was slow everywhere, the check in took 20 minutes, the room was nice but the coffe and Kleenex were not stocked and the wine glasses were dirty. The service at Brasserie Henri that we normally love was SO SLOW. Friday night we had diner at the bar. The restaurant was almost empty and it took 20 minutes to get a glass of wine and an hi Our for the entree. This morning, it took 20 minutes just to get coffee. And the food was cold when it arrived much later. The restaurant wasn’t full at all. Clients were complaining about the slow service and lack of service everywhere around us. I got up and spoke to the hostess and she said they have no staff that wants to work on Saturdays. I also did not eat my avocado toast because the avocado was all rotten and brow n. Well that doesn’t explain Friday night. We are not satisfied and moving on.

Loved it, bathtub was exquisite.

My room 517 was super noisy with an engine of sort running all night. It was disruptive and not expected given the attention to details of the hotel. The hotel room faced the back of the hotel where I believe deliveries are made and saw a few parked cars

Love this hotel

This was our first stay at Hotel Birks and we will definitely be back! The staff was very attentive and was able to answer all our questions. There was a minor issue in our room and the repairman arrived in 5 minutes! Service in the restaurant and bar area was amazing, as was the food. 5 stars for this hotel!

Great rooms and mine even had a cozy fireplace. The phone was out of order, which was very annoying as I could not use it for room service. I hd to go to the reception to order. They did not fix it when agreed but in spite of this, i loved the hotel and the price was way better than Sofitel (where I had originally booked but chose to cancel due to unannounced renovations ).

From the moment we arrived the staff were there to make everything as easy and welcoming possible. I was impressed on how they paid attention to details such as knowing our names and our valet number for our car so that our car was always ready for us. The vibe of the hotel was festive during this holiday season. We really enjoyed our stay and highly recommended this hotel.

Beautiful hotel. Tastefully furnished and very comfortable suite. Would have preferred not to stay in a conjoined suite. Guests next door were loud and made it difficult to get a good night’s sleep. Concierge said that he would have the manager follow up the next day after our initial complaint, but we were never contacted. We would have appreciated a different room, some mild compensation or just hearing from them. Despite the noise, we would return.

Hotel was well appointed, restaurant good - not great, service was average - not cleaned until 4:30pm, front desk staff harried, valet service just ok

The room we stayed at was nice but with strange layout. The bathroom was totally opened to the bedroom. The sofa bed was not suitable time sleep on. You feel the metal tubes of the frame when you lie on it. The hotel should not market this room to a family of 4. The shower had low pressure. The closet was inconvenient to use. The room thermostat was set to 21 degrees and after a few hours the temperature of the room got to 26 degrees. Sometimes you call downstairs and it takes a minute or 2 until they answer. The restaurant downstairs offers breakfasts but not tasty. Bellboys are not always available. When we left the hotel with five pieces of luggage, no one assisted us in holding the door to the outside of the building. House keeping was great as well as the drinks at the bar.

Beautiful hotel nice stay and great restaurant. Valet was a little hit or miss, they emailed with an address for the valet. That address in Apple Maps took me to the wrong place. Also valet area was very small leaving me to circle the block at rush hour till a spot opened up, twice I had to go hunting to find the valet to drop off keys.

This property is absolutely gorgeous from the lobby to the room. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Montreal. Staff was friendly and helpful. Hotel is in a great location, we did not drive anywhere except when it was time to leave and only because we had luggage. Train station is a 3-5 minute drive away.
