Super cute retro hotel. Clean and convenient
The location is great. Within walking distance to many excellent restaurants. The hotel isn't new but it's very comfortable and has fun character.
Pretty good
Room was good, price was.good. they did not xlean the room i guess thats the norm, news to me. No frills and dollarama right there, close to dt all was pretty good even the parking except the shower needs fixing.
Price
All of the rooms are located over top of an incredibly loud nightclub, which runs until 2:00 AM. No escaping it, like being tortured by sleep deprivation. Not so much a hotel, more like a group of rooms for people who partied all night to hook up in. No food service available in the morning until 11:00 am?? Located right on the edge of the cities' roughest area, which spills over. Was originally booked in for 4 days, checked out after the first
It is a good hotel but they need to take care of the cleanliness and give it maintenance, the sink was clogged and the hot water faucet in the shower does not work properly.
Easy check-in and good communication prior to the stay about the amenities and location. I stay here quite often when in Vancouver b
It was perfect.
As described
Room was as described and very clean. The room listings don’t say anything about mini fridges but mine had one. Controlled heat/ ac in the room but it was nice bonus to be able to open a window as well. In relation to noise, I think it will depend on who your room neighbours are and what is going on downstairs for the night. For my stay got unlucky on the neighbour end not being cognizant of how late it was / loud they were being. Not the hotels fault but as the walls do seem thinner perhaps when bookings are sparse spacing out guests out more would help. As for the area, pretty much all of E Hastings has the same people particular issues at night, the grocery & dollar stores are across the street so there may be more congregations at certain times however I didn’t find it to be any less safe than other parts of the downtown area at night. All in all, worth the $$$, if I happen to need a night or two in the same area, I would stay again.
Well.
I really enjoy staying here. The staff are all a bunch of sweethearts. Very helpful and friendly. The rooms are clean and organized. It’s a wonderful hotel, and I will continue to be a repeat customer. Great job!!
We had a lovely stay. Communication with the staff was always available quickly. Great security 24/7. Comfortable beds & clean rooms/washrooms. Great pricing for 2 nights & 4 people. Would stay again!
The place is big, comfy and economical. The employee Male (Mia) was so incredible, truly so kind and helpful. I wouldn't however recommend staying at this hotel on weekends because it's attached a club that plays terrible music till 230 am on Friday and Saturday. It's so loud it shakes the entire room. And the music is so loud, you can hear the dj screaming "dance everybody dance" non stop, his voice was so annoying.treat yourself to good nite sleep elsewhere if you staying over weekend, during the week though this a great spot for budget friendly stay.
Beautiful and relaxing, flew in for the Taylor Swift concert. Great location
Nice stay.
The staff are very friendly. I liked the room that I was in. Overall 10/10.
felt dirty and area was not safe.
The place was cool. Kind of a hideaway feel. Window do not open at all.
Older building in a transitional area. Room was clean, lobby not as much. Staff was friendly and responsive. Bus stop conveniently located right outside. Located on the edge of a seemingly unsafe area, but we were notified about this ahead of time, multiple times and had no issues. It was a good option for the price.
Love the character of the older building. But the noise from the harbour and the street made for a difficult night's sleep. For me it's a perfect location however, and the staff member who greeted me was lovely.
Club music so loud until 2:30am. Everything was dirty. Staff was friendly but couldn't make up for rough area, cleanliness, and loud music.
It was pretty good.
The hotel was very well located, it's only a 10/15min bus ride to downtown which was perfect for our visits. That being said, the area is a little sketchy looking and happens to be a street well known for its high community of homelessness and people on heavy drugs.. It can feel a little unsafe to some, to walk around at nighttime but we felt ok with this as the corner of street where the hotel is located, was ok compared to a couple blocks down. Plus, the bus stops are right in front of the hotel, so you barely have to walk anything. About the rooms, it's very small and humble. Looked decent though, but could be improved on the overall cleanliness (bed frames, on top furnitures, bathroom..) It wasn't spotless and lots of dust and things that could've used a more thorough clean up. The smell of the room felt a little off too.. Other than this the bed was pretty comfy and just enough to "just sleep in". Things that could be improved in the rooms would be : - add little dressers, or a furniture with storage cause there's only a small closet with a few hangers. - add some kind of hooks in the bathroom, to hang our towels/clothes. - add a multi plug or something behind the bed cause there was only one plug by the right side of the bed and none on the other side. The rooms visibly don't cleaned while you're still checked in, despite putting the tag asking for maid service... The reception staff was really sweet to us and helpful when checking in/ checking out.
The staff was really nice and accommodating. They went out of their way and happily swapped our room that was over the club to give us a good night sleep. Really nice, made all the difference
Bugs in our room :(
For how busy the hotel was we could have been put in a room away from the busy main street. Room was clean and a good size
The hotel is connected to a venue that you can hear in your hotel room. The hotel is on an incredibly noisy road. There were people on the street, smoking and talking loudly right outside my room. There was nowhere I could find to charge my cell phone except the bathroom. The sheets literally smelled like a fart. Sorry to say that but it's the only word I can describe. The bed was lumpy and I barely slept the whole night because of what I have mentioned. I
Great
Good
Price was right, noisy on weekends but we were aware that would be the case. Parking was secure enough, be smart about it.
Very peaceful and private
The location is great just a bit unsafe feeling and would like more secure parking
Staff friendly and helpful.
Good

Overall it was a good stay
Got bed bugs in just 1 night
We love the older hotel and the customer service was excellent.
Staff was great
Staff excellent
Would of liked a microwave
This place is awesome!!!
area as too many homeless behind the building
Do not recommend
Older hotel smelling of smoke and sewage
Restaurant was awesome both dinner and breakfast. Excellent service. 3 couples booked rooms - theirs were normal sized.i booked first and got a room not much bigger than a closet, very disappointed with room
The Hotel is located in a homeless area which is not a big deal for me. Easy location and close transportation, also a supermarket just across the street ✔️ Clean, just what I needed for 1 night stay.
Friendly staff
Lots of street noise, very uncomfortable mattress. Staff was friendly. Rates affordable.
The place were it’s located doesn’t feel very safe. Bed was very uncomfortable.
.
ok hotel; but 1 service attendant was rude
Helpful and nice desk person, no elevator but guy carried our luggages up and down, can hear people talking and sirens every 5-10 mins outside our window, homeless/ addicts by hotel door, no phones in rooms to connect to front, Convenient location for taking bus.
Generally very good. Room was fine for the price and we would come again. Facilities usually worked. BUT the TV was broken the entire time and no one fixed it after we asked both he day and night people for 3 days. Forgot to clean up the room for one request. Area near the hotel is basically safe but the homeless start 9 blocks away. Area has a lot of good food and reasonable prices. Big supermarket across the street open to 10 PM. Hotel gives out good city information. Staff helpful to very helpful. Does have a loud bar in the building but the rooms in the back like we got are quiet.
No tel in the room. TV not working.
I booked one room , the experience was so great, highly recommend this place.
It was a cute hotel. Kinda sketch area but not their fault. Everything is super close by.
Our stay at the Waldorf was an interesting one… Our room was clean and the staff was very nice and helpful but it is just in a very bad part of the city and definitely an older building. I wish someone in the reviews I read beforehand would have mentioned that it is less than a kilometre down the street from the notorious East Hastings “Tent City.” (If you don’t know, look it up.) Aside from the constant sirens and car alarms, it was somewhere to sleep for the night but not somewhere I’d recommend unfortunately.
Decent for that area. Very nice staff.
the actual hotel is wonderful and has a lot of character. the staff are extremely friendly and polite. the area isn’t the absolute safest - but we didn’t have any issues. and that’s not the hotels fault. just a few noisy people on the sidewalk sometimes. but the security for the hotel is great and makes you feel secure. overall it was a wonderful stay and we would book again if in the area!
Property is fair for cost and location. Unfortunately the large homeless population near by keep you from walking the area we also probably why there is no money put into renovations. The homeless will soon be near. The one big plus is the restaurant next door. Great food
The property was clean, the clerk was very helpful. The restaurant inside the hotel was delicious with large portions.
Staff is awesome
Had to wait for a room,
The room we received was right above the bar where a very loud drag show was going on. When we asked for a different room, the desk said there were none available. We had to put in ear plugs to sleep! The hotel is also in a neighborhood where they said you don't want to walk around at night. Too many homeless people on drugs.
The good thing about this hotel is that they refunded our money. This hotel has no elevator and no rooms on the first floor. We couldn’t stay because of my sister’s disability. The area around the hotel was sketchy at best.
Deadbolt that barely closed. AC that beeped all night--even when off. No onme at the front--front door locked at 4pm. Staff eating while they 'checked' me in--could not explain how the damage deposit worked. Bathroom had dirt in the corners--legit dirt. Toilet paper roll was broken. Thin, non sealed windows (with no screens.) Loud. Loud. Loud. Sounded like you were in the street. At least it was close to the concert i went to and commercial drive. It was gross and felt half baked.
The Expedia description said it was 5 minutes from the Vancouver port and Canada Place. Not so. It was more like a 30 minute taxi ride--through one of the most disturbing downtrodden homeless areas I've seen. The front desk staff was nice and helpful, and we were lucky there was a restaurant and bar connected because we were afraid to leave the premises.
The hotel is generally not great. Coming from a smaller city, the price was pretty high for this standard of hotel. I won't have a lengthy review as I only spent one night. If you're on vacation and want luxury, this isn't for you (the bed wasn't that comfy). There was also a musty smell in the room and in the hotel in general. I had breakfast at the restaurant attached to the hotel (would not recommend - not particularly good for the price). That said, the staff seemed great and there are bus stops to and from the city centre right outside the property (so that might help with the fact that it is in a sketchy neighbourhood).
The only good thing was the tiki pub. We were accosted by heroin addicts when we went outside. Very nearby was extreme skid row with homeless people everywhere that were very dangerous
Okay stay
Stay was okay...you pay for what you get. Beware... there is a night club downstairs, on the weekends very noisy in room from 9pm -2am. No elevator, stairs only to the room. The room needed repairs. The bed was comfortable. The best part of the stay was the staff, very friendly and helpful!!
Room was for my wife and me. Only had 1 towel, 1 wash cloth and 1 pod of coffee. Very small bathroom but very clean. Nothing special.
Not the best location or rooms
Hotel was in a dirty area with lots of homeless around, but the people who worked there were very nice. Husband slipped on stairway carpet n fell on his shoulder. Bed was not attached to wall or headboard n seemed kind of small. Room n bathroom were also very small, with no other chairs in the room. The bed was uncomfortable to sit on to watch tv as it kept sliding out, but ok to sleep on. More pillows might have helped as well. We thought about going elsewhere, but toughed it out. Would stay someplace nicer next time, but again, the staff was very nice n helpful. They also kept the front door locked for safety, which was a wise idea. Kind of a shock n not what we expected.
Very clean and staff lovely
The staff were lovely. Our room was clean - lovely white bed linen and soft fluffy white towels. There was a coffee machine and AC, and free parking. We stayed mid week so no noise- there is a note in reception that it will be noisy on a Friday and Saturday night ( earplugs provided) . Staff advised us on safe areas to walk nearby
Food and the beer was pretty good
Hotel was ok but did not look anything like the pictures on Expedia, a few blocks down is the scariest things we have seen with litterly 100’s of homeless people. The parking lot is in an unsafe area and we ended up paying extra to park in a locked parkade across the street. Hotel is very old and did not like the fact that the lock on the door was a deadbolt as we had 3 of us and only 1 key to get in and out, staff was pleasant and honest about location. Would not stay here again and found it expensive for the location.
This property was a good price, the staff are always nice and the room is always clean and we feel safe.
Comfortable bed!
The only place affordable in Vancouver but old and in a rougher area. The staff were lovely and all trying their best.
Not the best part of vancouver but its safe and good value for money. Excellent breakfast bar on site
Staff where helpful and friendly.
This is a bar and entertainment venue with rooming house quality rooms over it. Lots of street noise and, depending on the night, venue noise, as well. Ear plugs are a must. Furnishings are minimal and worn, although bed was comfortable. Even though there were two of us, only one of many items was stocked in the room. Staff was friendly but we will not return.
No elevator service Hard to take the Baggages upstairs climbing the stairs
Disappointing place
Not exactly what I was expecting. You can hear pretty much every noise. The visitor barked late at night disturbing everyone. The sheets smelled like cigarette, the carpet needs thorough & deep cleaning. Overall, the place is so not presentable. Not worth it. Desk service was excellent though.
.
I believe the owner of this property needs to shut down or fix the issues this hotel has. I feel so sorry for the staff because its not their fault and they'll extremely nice people. I will be calling you to file a complaint
Good enough for a few nights
It’s an affordable place to sleep, not too far from the city center. Have your expectations low, the hotel gets the job done if you just need a place to shower, sleep, and charge your phone.
This was the only affordable choice for a fairly long stay…a bit out of the comfort zone for retired people used to a newer property but they do their best with what they have.
Near by airport
It is an older hotel with a lot of character. It was quiet and comfortable. The staff were wonderful.
A big shout out to Mia. She was so helpful and simply an amazing manager. The staff was awesome too.We never expected such hospitality and and excellent service. The rooms are great too. The only thing is there is no elevator but it's just one floor and she will help you with bags to the room if requested. Awesome. But truly she went above and beyond. We really booked this hotel due to the convenience to the port as we were going on a cruise. I'd recommend this hotel to anyone. The hotel is like a 2 star but the service is 5 star. Thank you to Mia and the wonderful staff. Hope to see you again soon...!
Uncomfortable bed
Good
Pet Friendly & Room Aircon
They should get a 4-stars but I will just give them a 3-stars because of the pet-friendly issue. When I reserved this hotel, I informed them I have a service animal with me. When I checked in, the night shift front desk declined to let my service animal to stay with me because he said I have booked a less expensive room. The pet-friendly rooms are all over $300+! I think he needs more training on how to handling service animal and they're exempt on every type of circumstances. Finally, I want to speak to his manager and but he also declined to let us contact him. Finally, the nice maintenance guy had called the manager and get it settling down. What a drama?? The day shift woman is very nice and she said she's a senior to that night shift guy and she won't be handled the service animal situation like this! She knows the rule! Also, the parking is inadequate, we were lucky to have one spot but we cannot move our car and have to take Uber to other locations. Other than that, this is an OK location but it's close to Chinatown which have a lot of homeless living on the street. There has no aircon inside room, thus if visiting during the peak summer, it will be very hot! Because there has only a fan inside the room.
Quaint
Homeless people around, no escalators, small rooms, actual door keys not key card
No free bottle water
Unfortunately our room was not cleaned during our stay. We saw the cleaning crew but they didn't clean our room. The bed was a bit beaten up and uncomfortable. The hotel is in an area that is quite run down and you dont feel safe. There is a wine and spirits store in the property that is visited by a number or homeless and drunkards. Vancouver has a big homeless population and Expedia should add recommendations about it. On the plus side, the public transportation stops in fron of the property. It might be good to note it such that travellers save money by using the public transportation. Vancouver has a good public transportation system.
They had a club in the basement thet played loud music until 2am that rattled the room. It was a Sunday night.
Friendly, staff and comfortable experience
Our stay was comfort and the friendliness of staff, exceptional. Towels and bedding were very clean with a comfortable mattress also. Our only observation of not a 100% clean rating would be the room floors, shower and bathroom floor felt not entirely too clean. Overall a very nice visit with surely just a hiccup in cleaning during a very busy season.

Very cool historic building in an interesting area of Vancouver. The room is very basic but was clean and stocked with all the necessities. The staff were all pleasant and accommodating. It's a 10 min walk to Commercial Ave which has a ton of great shops and restaurants. The area around the hotel is rapidly gentrifying with a new No Frills and Dollarama right across the street. Would stay here again!
