The Hotel Amba is situated perfectly for me behind the main Train station in Munich....My room was clean, the staff were polite with very good Customer service.👍
Lovely staff on arrival. Check in was extremely quick. Room itself was basic but clean except for shower glass which obviously had not been cleaned recently. Location is fabulous for train or bus links to the airport and easy walking distance to many bars shops and restaurants.
Pleasant stay and very convenient location direct at the central station in minutes
Not recommended
Munich stopover on the way to the Tirol. The Amba is a convenient across the street from the train station option. The sink fixture was broken, one shower door in the cramped plastic shower was broken off and not replaced and the cleanliness was dubious. I thought, oh well, it’s a train station hotel until I discovered on our way back thru Munich the place next door is a comparative palace for 20% less per night.
Good for a quick & fast stay
This hotel did the job I needed it for. Just one night & out in the morning to connect my flight. Being so close we didn't need to check our bags in a locker at the train station. (4 bags) They were left in the open, but the night man watched our bags. We spent 4 & half hours in the hotel.
Nice but i.am.enjoyinh quiet Portugal after all those trains all night
I am enjoying Portugal more
Ok didn't like that lost my key AND OTHER STUFF VIOLENT STORM OF TOO MANY PEOPLE. I AM ENJOYING PORTUGAL MORE.
Comfortable for 1-2 Nights
Hotel Amba served my needs - it was so close to the train station and well priced for a single bed for a night. I do think if I needed to I would stay at Hotel Amba again for a night, but not much longer. Unfortunately the room floor wasn't very clean, the floors left my feet dirty after walking on them. The room smelled like smoke - even though it's a no-smoking hotel. The walls are thin - I had earplugs so slept comfortably. The shower was warm and good water pressure, but very easily to soak the entire floor - I was not the only guest to have this problem. Overall this is a great one-two night stay but wouldn't say it's for anything luxury, but matches the price.
Amazing hotel. Would love to stay again
Is pretty basic but nice, having all you need to stay during a quick travel. Best part, is that train station is in front of the property.
The location is pretty convenient if you need to take a train at central station. Easy to walk around. Staff members friendly and helpful.
I would stay again
Hotel Amba is a great option to be near public transport and walking distance to the city centre. Good room and comfortable. Any down side to Amba is not under the hotels control. It is situated across the road from the main train station so light sleepers should bring ear plugs. However I found my sleep to be restful. There was someone shouting in the early hours of the morning. Again not the Hotels fault. So just be aware. I do think these situations are reflected in the price they charge. The room was clean and comfortable. The shower was good, great water pressure and heat(I was on the 4th floor.) The staff were friendly. The room has good storage and space. It also has a desk if you need to work. I've seen a review stating it's not a safe area. I don't necessarily agree. It can be intimidating but I came back to the hotel quite late on 2 nights 10/11pm and arrived at midnight and was not harassed. If you are staying in any city near the main train station it is just the same.
No kettle or tea & coffee in the room
No smoke detector. Vent full of dist blow dryer wires opened snot on wall in bathroom
Good clean, convenient and price-worthy Hotel AMBA
The hotel is excellently located to main public services transport. Room prices are competitive and the rooms offer basic essentials. Bathrooms have been recently renovated. The basic / standard single rooms are not large. The shower recess is small and its doors allow leakage whlst showering which can make the bathroom floor slippery and potentially dangerous. Non-slip additions should be available for the floor in the shower.
Not recommended for families at all. Area is unsafe with lot of rough crowds Hotel room is like a shoe box
Traveller
A good hotel in the absolute centre of Munich. Very friendly staff. Also quiet during nighttime.
Hotel is adequate. Super convenient to the main train station of Munich as well as the S and UBahn. Breakfast was quite good.
This hotel was near the train station, value priced, and had one of the better breakfasts we have experienced. The room was not big, but compared to more expensive properties where we stayed, very nice. I would recommend this hotel.
Everything is good, just the toilet can be better
Hotel Amba is located near Muenchen Haupt Bhanhof, so it is very convenient to use public transportation. Staffs are kind, too. Room was clean and neat but overall room size was much smaller than I expected. But, it is worth to stay in this hotel because location is the best.
Location is convenient, next to the main train station. The street noise can be loud at night. My room had a missing shower door that made it quite challenging to shower without splashing water all around.
It was good and easy
Friendly staff, great location
Good hotel, excellent location for Oktoberfest
Good hotel in a great location for Oktoberfest. I went not really knowing what to expect but it was well priced in what is a crazy few weeks to try and get accommodation at a decent price.... Comfortable, clean, basic and a little dated but couldn't fault it.....breakfast was a bonus and a decent continental selection....
Perfect place to stay when our train was cancelled.
Easy access to Marienplatz and the main train transit station. WiFi was poor but otherwise a convenient spot for day trips and old town.
Small but close to everything. Exactly what we needed for first night in Europe after a long trip from U.S.
Great hotel to the price
Great hotel to the Price central located only 10 min Walk to Marienplatz and only 100m to the central station i would recomend this hotel
Got in really late because of my trains getting cancelled and the gentleman at night gave me another 2 hours to check out because I only had a few hours left I was really great full for that extra time
Super convenient to central station and walking distance to Karlsplatz, Clean hotel and priced well. Lufthansa shuttle bus to airport and train to airport steps away from door. Train station neighborhood - so there is noise and traffic at night. I would stay again for the price and location.
This is an excellent hotel if you want to walk into the old town area and it is extremely convenient for the train station and the Lufthansa AirPort Express bus. The staff are very friendly and helpful. The hotel itself is extremely good value and clean. The breakfast is very comprehensive and good quality. Also considering its busy location it is extremely quiet at night. A very good hotel.
Great location across from HBH, very helpful and friendly staff; close to bus stop for airport (just outside the door).
No air conditioning, room very small, beds very small, on wheels not remaining fixed in place, fan very loud and not rotating, bathroom very small and leaking shower, bad WiFi. Good location, but noisy as we had to sleep with the window open due to heat. Safe was useful. It was clean.
10/10 for the location if you plan on using the train often. I did day trips almost every day, and from my room to sitting on the train took less than 5 minutes. Also very convenient for the Lufthansa Express bus to/from the airport. My room was small and very small shower but it had everything I needed and the bed was comfortable. No AC in the room but they provided a good fan.
Excellent location for a stay befoe flying in to or out of Munich.
Very old hotel
Exactly what I would expect for the price.
Great location. Close to train station and to explore Munich.
A quite ok hotel to use when spending time in Munich. Easy to access just outside hauptbahnhof. The flightbuses stops just outside the entrance. Easy to access Ubahn and short walk to the old town.
Good property for an overnight stay in Munich. Very close to Old Town and across the street from the train station. Lots of eating options. Room was small especially the washroom and no A/C. Luckily it wasn't hot when were there.
The hotel is old with small rooms that have no A/C and with hot weather, it was unbearable. We were forced to open the windows and then you get the noises from outside in addition to the party noise from the inside. The night guard did not care to intervene. A piece of dirty underwear was greeting us when opening the bathroom. Not a big deal for the manager though so I assume cleaning is not a top priority. The location is very tempting since close to the train station, but try to avoid this one. Also pricey for what is given.
Great location
.
Staying for the first time in Berlin, we chose this hotel as it was very convenient for the train station, as we are inter railing. It is a clean hotel, priced well and the staff are very helpful. Recommend
Perfect location
Excellent location. Perfect to access station and city center. Augustiner Keller bier garten about 600m away - excellent.
Very Noisy area.
Good Transit Hotel for layover stay
Good option as a layover stay for few hours/overnight option during transit. The rooms are small, not much space around and very compact. Location is excellent for train connectivity.
Best location near central station but average room service they opened the door while we were sleep
No bar or dining options but everything was fine
Was affordable, near the main train station, and very walkable to the main areas of Munich!
Schönes Frühstück
Vielen Dank für Ihre Empfang. Frühstück mit Prosecco und Weißwürste ist vorlegend! Ich möchte wieder besuchen. Servus!
Easy, quick, and clean. Wonderful staff especially the front desk staff.
Perfect location and a clean and comfortable stay. Nice shower! Directly across from the Hauptbahnhof and the Lufthansa airport shuttle.
Great staff, if ever back München, will stay again.
Very convenient location and very clean room. I am not sure what was meant in the letter from Amba Hotel to me about coffee, because there was no possibility to have coffee in the room or in the hotel lobby -- I would have welcomes such a possbility.
Amba bnb
Budget hotel right next to train tram and bus station, friendly staff, clean beds and clean bathroom (room 401) enjoyable stay.
エレベーターはありますが、部屋に行く途中に階段があり大きな荷物があると少し不便です。 ルフトハンザのバス停は目の前で本当に便利でした。 古い建物で鍵も都度カギをしないといけませんが、
WiFi was to slow
Close to train station but not the greatest area of town
Ideal location during snowstorm
We arrived when train, tram, and flight services had all been cancelled due to snowstorm. Our booking for 2 double rooms ended up as 1twin +1 single with extra made up couch. The rooms were small but clean but a better option than going to shelter on parked trains at the hbf. The location for Amba is right across from the station which made crossing snow and ice covered roads easier. We had stayed here several times in previous years but it is now time for it to be modernised.
Breakfast was awesome for its price, the central station is literally at the front and there's really good restaurants close. The room was small but very clean and cozy. Would definitely stay again!!
Great place and service. Walls are a bit thin though. Not great if you need absolute quiet
A nice, clean budget hotel across the road from the main railway station. The room, although a bit small, was clean. The bedding & towels were changed every day. The hotel was perfect for our needs, we usually left the hotel at 9.30am & didn't return until 10pm, so we didn't require any frills. Would definitely stay there agin.
Staying in this hotel from last 8year. Always vry easy to reach from airport to center. Bus stopes right outside the hotel
Property is convenient to the central train station, however, there several people sleeping on the streets and lots of drinking and noise up and down the street. On Friday night, there was a group of very drunk men singing in the lobby. We could smell them from the floor above. The property is in desperate need of updating. It is dingy and run down. It’s an okay place if you need just a night and are hopping a train the next day. Unfortunate, we got stuck in Munich’s largest December snowstorm in over 30 years and had to stay multiple nights. The staff was very friendly and helpful though. They helped me when our converters and USBs were lost with our bags.
Great value and location. Good breakfast
Nice location, good value for the price. I’m mostly concerned about the cleanliness and quiet at night. I was surprised how quiet this place was since it’s so close to the central train station. That made it super convenient for my transportation needs while I was in Munich. Breakfast was about what I expected. Really pretty decent food and good selection. Outside was a little sketchy but nothing that felt unsafe.
Right beside main station. Quiet when inside. Clean. Delicious and lots of option buffet breakfast for $11 a person is a real deal and a great start to the morning. Definitely would stay here again.
This property was the great value of money by the november, it's very central, walkable to the most sightseeing, just next to the central station which is even more comfortable, u can plan any journey there, buses to the Airport starts from few meters away from this hotel. Hotel clean service comes every day even if it's no need. So they provide everything for clean atmosphere. Reception is quite helpful. So, shower is really tiny, but for few days and for given price it was still very okay. Overall it was quite good, thanks.
Quick Trip
In town for a couple days, excellemt location, very clean, big room. Perfect experience
We stayed here several years ago and we’re quite comfortable. I guess Covid and two trains not running from the airport have hurt this hotel. We asked for a quad for space because our daughter was with us. It was basically four single beds crammed in one room with minimum covers. The bathroom looked dirty and the shower was tiny. Paint was peeling off the trim everywhere and it looked unkept. My daughter and I actually found another room in a different hotel close by. That is how much we felt uncomfortable there.
Staff were wonderful and friendly. The room was clean and bright. It was on the smaller side but if you don’t plan on spending a full day in the room it is more than adequate. Right beside the centre so it is great for walking to anywhere
Excellent location right across the train station
This was the most expensive hotel we stayed at throughout our time in Europe and it was the biggest disappointment. The room was unclean, the area around hotel is dirty and unsafe. We could hardly walk around in our room, and they changed our bed with sheets that were STAINED. Very displeased. Also, no cafés near this hotel so you’ll have to search hard for food. Don’t recommend at all.
Hard Pass on this property: hot, noisy, dirty. Pro: location. I would definitely not recommend unless the price is MUCH less expensive than surrounding properties and you are backpacking. Family of 4, in town for Oktoberfest. 495€/night. Room cramped, dirty, & LOUD. (no A/C, windows open, tons of street noise & construction.) We were on the 6th floor so I was surprised that the noise felt like it was in our room. The initial reviews I saw on Expedia looked passable, but then I saw photos of other reviews & bugs. In person it was awful. Immediately on seeing our room, I asked Expedia if we could cancel the second night and transfer. They must've called the hotel because the manager came to our door irate. Despite the huffing, she did however move us to a nicer room on the 3rd floor. That is why I am giving it 3 Stars and not 2 Stars. The second room was quieter (not my any means quiet), cleaner, & bathroom was bigger- First room, the bathroom was hard to even turn around in it was so small (stand-up shower and a toilet only). Sink and mirror were outside immediately when you walked into the room. The elevator was small and long wait times, we just took the strs. 6 flights of stairs in the summer at this hotel would be intolerable in my opinion. Irons are prohibited from the room, After several calls I was allowed special permission to use the one in the basement. It was uncomfortable. If this was cheaper & during my backpack party days it would've been less rough.
Great place!
Really great hotel conveniently located next to the Hbf. Friendly staff and very clean. Good value too.
No AC and very old property
Basic accomodation in good location opposite train station and short walk to town however no air conditioning made room uncomfortable during summer
Quadruple room was advertised but they just gave a single room with four beds. Had to jump over things to get to things, no space to walk or no floors because of how they crammed the beds in The only thing going for it is the central location, but if you know how to navigate the trains and trams, you dont need that.
Very helpful and friendly. Allowed me bro leave a backpack for a few days. Will go there again Irmgard Lafrentz
Overnight stay after flight. Hotel Staff were great ! Would happily stay again.
Location s gd. Just next to d station but s v noisy. Triple sharing. Hotel did not provide bottled drinking water. Asked for kettle n gave us a badly rusty kettle. Decided to use for boiling water n after boiling found a layer of oil on it. Hair dryer n tv not working . They only hve one rubbish bin in d toilet
The room was like a "cell" in size although its bathroom section was good.
Just all the characteristics as previous Page.....just great Place to stay for great Price....
Friendly staff and great location next to the central train station. This is great if you're staying a night or two and don't care about getting a good night sleep. Because it's very noisy. Doors slamming every minute even at night and early in the morning. People yelling and screaming.
Stayed for one night. Right outside the station... Excellent. Good little breakfast buffet. Only taking a shower almost flooded the bathroom
Excellent hotel opposite the main station (munchen hauptbahnof) and about 15 minute walk from the town centre/christmas market. Its a very basic room but has everything you need for a short city trip. Good shower, comfy beds, offering of breakfast and ideal location and at a good price.
Location is very good. I can walk to Central Station or other attractive place. But hotel look old and did not use keycard for door lock. The problem is the key is hard to unlock, I must tell the staff and other guest show how to unlock and Lift is very small.
Excellent Location
In the middle of every thing you need
The hotel is right by the train station, so very loud. The mattresses are very outdated uncomfortable. Breakfast was over priced for what it was. That being said, it was enough for our 3 day stay for Oktoberfest.
It was a great place to stay for Oktoberfest!!! Super convenient and within walking distance to the fairgrounds and other landmarks
Honestly the building was extremely run down, the room half the size advertised, the bathroom a coffin that you needed to legitimately climb over the sink to get in to a cube so tiny even small people struggle with.
Basic room. Loud outside so ask for a fan from desk. Basic ok breakfast. Friendly staff
Super convenient across from train station easy walking distance to Marienplatz, quiet noisy with trams and buses running up and down the road. Shower didn’t seal so the whole bathroom gets soaked with every shower.
The hotel was centrally located. The beds were comfortable. No air conditioning, dirty floors. Even with the elevator, still has to deal with stairs.
Welcoming and safe storage area for bags (arrived early).
Acceptable transfer to alternative hotel.
Due to problems with plumbing in the AMBA we were transferred to a sister hotel nearby. This process went very well. The hotel in question, the Creatif Hotel Elephant was perfectly acceptable.
We’ve stayed at this hotel for years. It is getting pretty outdated now. Could use a little more cleaning but for the rate and being next to the train station it’s understandable
The hotel was on the whole pretty good. Room was quite spacious and served its purpose. Didn’t spend much time in the room as was out exploring. Staff at the desk were helpful and friendly
