Absolutely Wonderful Hotel Right Next to Alhambra

You absolutely cannot beat the combination of this hotel’s location, price, quality of the rooms, and hospitality. First off, it’s situated in an excellent location, about a 3 minute drive from the Alhambra. Secondly, the rates are extremely affordable for the quality of the room you get. Ours was an excellent, up-to-date room with an incredible bed. The bed was so comfortable that I’m looking into trying to purchase one. Finally, the hospitality and attention you get is unbeatable. The owner and staff are unbelievably nice and helpful. They immediately helped us with any questions we had about the city, bus routes, attractions, etc. They really do treat you like family. They also provide a delicious, little breakfast every morning for about $2 euros. Parking is available outside but if it’s full, they also have a parking garage available for $5 euros a day. This was our favorite stay in our entire 14-day trip in Spain. I cannot recommend Hotel Albero enough. We definitely will be returning to Granada and when we do, we absolutely will be staying with our friends in Hotel Albero.

From the moment after arriving you feel welcomed by Pepe and the place has a cosy feeling. We were surprised it was a 1 star rating and didn't know what to expect and was pleasantly surprised. The staff are all very helpful. You take bus 33 from the bus station to the hotel and when going into town right near the hotel. To go to Alhambra take bus 13 from infront of the hospital

Overall a good hotel, some staff members don't have great English but usually those working during the day are quite good. Room was comfortable with great air-conditioning. The location let this place down, it's fine if you have a car which we did, but it is quite far from Granada - there is free on street parking surrounding the hotel, and we managed to get a spot each time but it is quite busy. There is a local bus service that stops a short distance from the hotel, but we didn't use the bus service. Also quite close to a large shopping mall which was convenient.

This was the perfect hotel to stay at when visiting Granada. The location of the hotel is perfect, close enough to everything without being in the middle of the city center. The hotel is a 40 min walk from the cathedral or a bus ride. There are slopes but we managed to do it pushing our 2-yo daughter in her stroller. The walk coming back from the Alhambra offers wonderful views of the city, especially during the sunset. There are no dining options nearby, so if you need dinner you have to order delivery (we did it one night and it was really good). There are no options nearby for breakfast either and the breakfast from the hotel is a bit pricey: 3,80 euros for coffee, oj, toast and croissant.

Very comfortable, clean, friendly Hotel. Reasonably priced rooms ideal for sightseeing. Location is perfect for visiting both City and Alhambra's Palace.  Continental breakfast enjoyable including Toast, Croissant, Pate, Jam, Yogurt, tea, coffee and orange juice. Will definitely recommend to friends and Family. Excellent restaurant pub (Albanta) only 100 yards from hotel. The restaurant is on the first floor with pub on the ground floor. Visited 2 evenings and thoroughly enjoyed food, surroundings, service and friendly staff. The hotel staff provided all local information, regarding maps, bus time tables. The journey into the city was about 10 minutes and to Alhambra's Palace was only 5 minutes, if feeling strenuous you could walk the hill in about 15 minutes. Although recommend the bus as we walked 12 miles just around the palace and gardens so whole day is needed to appreciate

Very comfortable and friendly staff

We knew that the hotel was out of the city centre and chose it for that reason as we had a car and needed to park it without inner-city issues. There were no vacancies on the street when we arrived yet the staff moved her car to give us her spot. How lovely was that? We left the car there for the 3 days we were in Granada and took public transit, 2 blocks away from the hotel direct into the centre. Perfect each way. We didn't partake in the 3,80 euro breakfast as we were told it was coffee and sweet breads. Instead we went the cafe around the corner and had spanish tortilla (egg omelette with potatoes, large enough to feed two people) and coffee. Best breakfast around, but you got to get there early! I highly recommend this hotel if you don't want to/can't stay in the centre for whatever reason.

Alhambra well worth visiting

Enjoyed stay. Nice hotel, bit further out than expected but local bus SN1 to city centre & Alhambra.(C7)We enjoy walking & walked into the town centre bout 35 mins. Also walked to the Alhambra. Took about 30mins but it is all up hill. The hotel is in quiet area, well looked after & staff were friendly. Clean towels every day. Not much around the area but we just used the hotel as a base & were out most of the 3 days we were there. Enjoyed visiting the Alhambra. Gardens lovely & palaces very interesting. Well worth the money. We were unable to get tickets in advance but hotel was able to get us tickets so we could visit palace. The SN1 goes to the bus station which was very handy as we were getting a bus from there to Malaga. Buses bout every 15mins & ticket 1 euro 20 cents per journey so very good value.

Well-run, value hotel , family owned and run.

We had difficulty finding the hotel because our GPS did not register the address. Finally I phoned the owner, who speaks good English. He gave me an alternative address that works in the GPS, and we easily came to our destination. IF YOU DO NOT WANT TO END UP IN GPS HELL, USE THIS ADDRESS: 1, Mirador de Genil. As we arrived late, we got a noisy room overlooking busy traffic. The next day we were moved to an excellent room, comfortable and quiet. This hotel is ideal for visiting the Alhambra, which is a short bus ride away. To get to the centre of Granada, we took taxis, which cost around 6 euros.

helpful staff at good value hotel

The hotel is in a quiet location, just outside Granada, on a bus route into central Granada (10 minutes) and the Alhambra (10 minutes) We had a large, clean and comfortable room which was very good value for money. All the staff were very friendly and helpful. I had tried to book tickets for the Alhambra online in advance, but found that none were available for at least a month. However the receptionist was able to book them for us for 2 days later, which was wonderful as this was the main reason for our visit to Granada. The hotel provides a basic breakfast, but no evening meal. However, the owner directed us to a restaurant 5 minutes down the road, and we had the menu of the day for 8 euros. The restaurant was full of locals and the food was excellent - the best we had on our trip.

Granada's best kept secret

For budget travellers you do need to search further, especially if you drive. Easy to park on the street or in private parking for 5 Eu, the Albero is about 30 min easy walk to old city or to Alhambra or direct buses stop close to the hotel to. Spotless clean, intimate and family athmosfere but the best asset is the staff who's going above and beyond their duty to make your stay a memorable one. Ask for their discount tickets to the gitano flamenco show for an excellent evening (bus in and out from Albero and guided walking tour in Albayzin by night).

Good value hotel close to A-395 motorway.

I chose this hotel based on its location (I didn't want to drive in the city centre of Granada) - it is easily accessed from the A-395 - the fact it had indoor parking and the reviews left by other travellers. We could easily have afforded a more expensive hotel but there didn't seem any point in spending more. Other reviewers mentioned that they were able to park on the road outside for no charge. That may usually be the case, however, the road was being re-surfaced during our stay and at least 50% of the available parking was out of use and a good portion of what was left was occupied by the cars of the workers re-surfacing the road! So, we were glad of the indoor parking which was inexpensive. The hotel staff were very helpful in explaining how to get in to the city centre by bus (for 1.20 Euros). Our room was simple but clean and comfortable with qute a large bathroom and good wardrobe space. The breakfast (for less than 4 Euros) was simple but adequate.

Hotel is conveniently located on the periphery of Granada City and there is on street parking near the hotel although the hotel can provide underground parking at 5 Euro per day. (It costs 25 euro per day to park in the city centre) The city tour "hop on / hop off" bus stops at the end of the road & is a very short distance from the hotel. Cost is 25 Euro for a 2 day ticket or 15 Euro for a 1 day ticket and includes entry fee for 2 historical buildings which would normally cost 8 Euro. Ticket also entitles you to discount on various other things. Hotel staff are friendly and helpful and hotel is very clean and well kept. There is a safe in wardrobe, use of it is free of charge. There is a vending machine for water & snacks in the reception area and tourist infomation is also available. A simple breakfast is available in the hotel at a cost of 3.80 Euro.

Lovely base to explore Granada from

Excellent value and much better than many four stars in terms of friendliness and helpfulness. Given advice on restaurants in Granada, how to use the bus system and where to go in the city all of which were really useful. Entrance to the hotel is on a road behind and parallel to where the sign is, you need to take a right turn at a small junction after the big roundabout or else you pass the hotel and have to do a U turn to get back, satnav coordinates take you to the front of the hotel. Breakfast good value and enough to set you up for the day.

Happily recommended

We booked for one night at Albero to visit Alhambra. Hotel Albero was easy to find and Alhambra a short drive up the hill, well signed too. For Alhambra ignore the cowboys willing you to park in a field before the official sites and note that the first car parks (numbered 4) inside the barrier are the ones furthest from the entrance proper. Go early and you could park closer (number 1). Drinks and snacks in vending machines are reasonably priced (1 Euro for machine coffee). It was remarkably easy to find, park and negotiate Alhambra (perhaps a lot of steps which could be a problem). We parked on the street for Albero. The staff were welcoming and helpful and the room was comfortable, clean and worth more than the price asked. No coffee/tea though. Continental breakfast was good for a few Euros . We ate dinner at Albanta restaurant, where a two course meal, with drinks and coffee cost a little more than the hotel for two, about 50 yards from the hotel. We can happily recommend Albero for visits to Granada city and Alhambra.

Great place to stay and from which to explore.

The hotel is perfectly situated to explore Granada and its surrounds. On the edge of the city with local transport on the door step; yet out in the countryside so that one can oversee the hub bub from a position of rural detachment. The room is well appointed and the facilities closedr to family bed & breakfast rather than facless hotel chain. I particularly liked the secure underground parking. Faults; no tea making facilities. The only other observation is that the ground floor of the building has some deterioration possibly resulting from un-realised asperations within this current econmic decline. Look past these because the hotel itself is is above this set back, in more ways than one.

Fantastic budget hotel.

Small, friendly hotel. The owner could not have been more helpful. About 20 minute walk from centre of Granada and very few restaurants in the neighbourhood which may put some people off. But, there is a regular bus service for those unable to manage the walk. Also regular bus service to the Alhambra or a 30 minute uphill walk. Only continental breakfast served, but very nice. Would stay here again if returning to Granada.

Overall a good stay

Room is small but clean. Staff friendly. Location is out of town - convenient to Alhambra (bus 13, 5 min ride, stop is just around the corner and front desk provides a time table), but a bit far from Granada centro (bus 33 is 3 min walk away, 15 min ride to centro but the bus stops running around 23:00). Parking is 5 Euro per day in garage but free parking is available on the street. Overall a good stay especially the price is very reasonable. But if I visit Granada again I will choose a hotel in the town.

Hotel with very warm welcome

We chose the hotel for its proximity to the Alhambra, but it was further than we expected from the centre of Granada. (poor research on our part!) There were limited opportunities to eat, close to the hotel in the evening, without going back into the city The hotel staff were extremely kind and helpful and made up for the awful weather we experienced

Great for couples and students

Although this Hotel only has a one star rating, the service, cleanliness and overall feel to the hotel was excellent. I also did not realise that there was a breakfast included, it was not large or grand but it was a welcome surprise.

Great Stay

I was somewhat concerned booking this one star hotel. Can't believe it is not at least a 3 star. It had won the Trip Advisor Award the past two years. It is a little way from the sights but the bus stop was right in front of the hotel and a only a short ride. Don't drive to the sights, parking is very expensive and hard to get. For 5 euro we had secure parking (free on the street). Very helpful front desk, spoke English which is sometimes rare in Spain, Very clean, breakfast for 3.50 euro, coffee, juice, toast and crossinant. Beds a little hard but that is normal for Spain. Very nice restaurant next door, good food, great atmosphere and reasonably priced.

Great place to stay in Granada!

Very nice, clean, friendly hotel, bi-lingual staff, close to Alhambra (take the #13 bus or walk), out at the edge of town but take #13 or 33 bus to and from city center, they run frequently all day. Very reasonable rates, nice sunny room with large balcony. They have continental breakfast available. Very nice place!

Albero, Granada, Spain

This is a great little hotel, but it is very far from the city center. Very close to Alhambra, which is nice, but driving anywhere else is a nightmare!! Clean and comfortable, very nice staff, and a good price.

The staff is helpful and friendly and the lobby is welcoming (with cookies!). Our room and bathroom were very clean, and the shower was great. Overall, a really excellent value. The neighborhood is nothing special, and the hotel is located relatively far from the city center. However, taking the bus to the center is very convenient and the staff will show you exactly where to catch the bus. The upsides to the location is that it is near the Alhambra and free street parking is easy to find. You could not find a place as nice as Albero and as cheap in downtown anyway.

friendly and exceptional value

The great strengths of the Albero are its quite exceptional value and the friendliness of the family who own it. Don't expect luxury (which for this price you obviously shouldn't) but you will get a meticulously clean, comfortable if slightly spartan room. Sound insulation between rooms is not too good though, so hope for quiet neighbours. The location might also put some people off - a 25-30 minute walk or 10 minute bus ride out of the city centre. However, the location is a plus if you're arriving by car - very easy to find, directly on the end of the Ronda Sur, off the Circunvalacion. Furthermore, there is a bus into the centre every ten minutes, it costs very little, and the buses run till late at night. The hotel is also on a direct bus route to the Alhambra. (Or, for the energetic, a very straightforward, uphill walk of about twenty minutes.) The continental breakfast, with plenty of strong coffee, is reasonably priced at 3.50 euros. Fuel up as early as possible then tackle that walk to the Alhambra (or wait for a bus)!

Hotel Romero Granada

Great value although aspects of the location very slightly dubious. Would stay again but eat in town in the evening. Plenty of space in the room. First bus journey into town a little confusing-go past long gardens wait for bus to turn right then go two stops. Breakfast quite good yet simple-great coffee. Alhambra outshinesTaj Mahal for us. Book in advance and pick up tickets in town from bookshop near catherdal.

Hotel in Granada

The hotel was very clean and quiet and was very convenient and easy to get to if arriving by car. I would recommend this if you are arriving in a car in order to avoid the busy downtown area. It was a short bus ride to the Alhambra and to the old city and Cathedral. Very easy to navigate. The room was a basic, clean room, just right for a place to rest after spending the day sightseeing. We also enjoyed the free wi-fi so we could communicate with our family while we were traveling. If you are wanting spend a lot of time in your room, then you may want to get a much more expensive room somewhere else.

EXCELLENT

An excellent hotel. Very convenient for bus into Granada and the Alhambra and the city 'hop on- hop off' bus. Staff very friendly and family orientated. Much better than the one star rating. Can get a little noisy at night for rooms close to reception.

Ideal for Alhambra

One star does not do this hotel justice. It has everything you need for a short trip to visit Alhambra. Bus service into city is perfect and takes about 10 minutes. Room is a little on the small side but it's perfect for a short stay. Breakfast is well worth the 3 euros. Don't be put off by one star and price. It is great value.

The owner was extremely kind, enthusiastic, helpful and spoke fluent English. Location is good - bus stop next to the hotel (taking you to Alhambra in less than 10 minutes). Parking on the street possible but also garage available for reasonable price. The room was clean and unexpectedly well equipped for 1-star hotel. In my opinion it deserves more stars.
