This property was really good and location is amazing...Very Helpful staff and receptionist with glasses very nice lady i forgot her name. 3 minutes to Rialto Bridge and 4 minutes to St Marks square. Middle location and lots of options for restaurants and bar within 2minutes of walking. Canal view rooms with balcony is amazing we loved the room it was very classy. I must recommend everyone to stay here. Great property classy and great location nice breakfast and lovely staff and housekeepers
Nice place but way over priced
Hotel’s location is great!!! People is not as nice as You would expect but I guess that is common in the entire Venice.
Service and location were perfect for what we wanted and breakfast was fabulous with very helpful staff !!!
Nice place.
Canal room
Amazing location, staff, large room and check out their restaurant. Highly recommend staying here. Easy to find beside Rialto Bridge. To celebrate our anniversary they had a bottle of Prosecco in our room. Amazing way to start our Italy vacation.
This is a great option! Affordable, great location, friendly English-speaking staff. I’d highly recommend
Very conveniently located between Rialto and San Marco, within walking distance of all e major sights and lovely to have a view of a smaller canal from the room. As with most things in Venice, the decor is a little tired looking but the room is perfectly comfortable and has a clean, large and functional bathroom. For travellers arriving or departing by air or rail, this hotel is very convenient. The nearby Rialto stop (4mins walk) is served by the direct airport ferry as well as the regular vaporetto to the train station. For those on a budget this hotel is perfect.
The location is perfect! The rooms are beautifully decorated and clean. The staff was helpful and the breakfast was good. Our flight left late in the day and they let us leave our luggage after check out so we wouldn't have to be carrying it around. There is no elevator but that is something that didn't bother us. Overall, I would definitelystay in this hotel if I were to go to Venice again.
Perfect location right on the canal
Great small hotel right in the center on a perfect narrow street near the canal. The room was good size, clean and modern bathroom. Great tasty breakfast is included.
Excellent location fantastic canel view on first floor, near st marks square, fabulous
Highly recommend!
A beautiful and affordable room right in the middle of Venice. Conveniently located near Piazza San Marco, shops, and restaurants.
Fab hotel
Hotel was clean, staff were friendly and good location! Great hotel, no complaints would definitely recommend.
Hotel is in a great central location and the rooms are pleasant and clean. Reception is only manned for a few hours a day which could make checking in difficult and I am not sure what you would do if you had any issues or got locked out.The reception staff are very friendly. There are no public areas in the hotel and no facilities to make a hot drink. Bathroom had no extractor fan or windows so it was constantly steamed up.
Excellent hotel for the price.
No elevator and no one to help with the luggage and no person at the desk all the time but room was very clean and nice view
Great location in a minutes to walk to Realto bridge and San Marco square. Good trattoria on premises with the same name Al Gazzettino - for dinner better to book in advance. On a negative site reception is opened to 7 pm. If you arriving late let them know. Breakfast is served from 8:30 am to 10:00 am - most of our tours were booked at 9 am could not use free breakfast option for most days of our staying there. Bed mattress was uncomfortable - too firm.
Great location without the high price
Nice little place to stay for a reasonable price. Situated near most of the major sights you’ll want to see. Would highly recommend. Super clean, and a very helpful staff as well.
WoW Where to begin. I arrived to Venice without any information from hotel on how to locate. Ok my bad .. I never imagined how hard it would be to get help or directions. Took 2 hours to locate and dragging my luggage all over the city with us. Upon arrival nobody at desk, another guest let us in and noted they had not seen anybody. They left. The maid popped in and NO English of course but located our keys. I had to take up our luggage 6 flights of stairs. No lift no bellman. I'm a senior and not an easy task. . Later we met with a hotel staff who asked for city tax and that was the last time we saw anybody. There is a restaurant next door with same name... Best Italian Food in Italy... If you really really want this place I would encourage you to email and get directions, and other information. If do not want to carry luggage up stairs you should talk to them about level. Good luck..
short stop in Venice
reception lady are very helpful, hotel room very nice with view on the canal
Perfect location. In walking distance from the Rialto and other landmarks. Clean and had all the amenities required.
very clean, nice service, good breakfast and very good location at the centre. Beatrice from the reception is very professional, nice and welcoming. I would recommend this hotel without hesitation.
We did not have hot water neither did our friends in the other room.
Beautiful Room
The room was awesome and the canal views from the balcony were as advertised. The location was perfect and a short walk to everything we needed.
Loved the decor and design of this place its what really drew me in versus something super modern. The room was spacious and the view from our room was dreamy with gondoliers padding by ever so often. Despite being in a popular spot it wasnt too crowded or loud. 3 things I didnt like was the scent or aroma in the lobby.. very distinctive and strong and gave me a headache.. the door lock situation and how it was hard to open and close the door, no easy tap access and the doors made quite some noise as I could hear as people on the same floor left and came back. There are no elevators but luckily I was just on the first floor.
Our stay at Hotel Al Gazzettino was exceptional. The staff was extremely friendly, breakfast was delicious and the room was amazing. If you are looking for a hotel near both St. Mark's square and the Rialto bridge, look no further, you will not find anything better.
Execellent propert, very reasonable price. Amazing location. Would deffo recommend and stay again if ever visiting.
Great place
This hotel is in a really good location, the staff where lovely and friendly! The room was spacious and nicely decorated however the door to the bathroom did scrape the floor every time you opened it and there was a few floor tiles missing. However for us it wasn’t an issue to the point that we didn’t want to stay there all round it was a very decent pleasant stay! Thanks!!
Great offer for late check in! I would most definitely stay here again when in Venice!
The decor was French, very beautiful. The room was on the third floor and they had no lift. The hotel was very difficult to find. I sent a message twice through the app requesting directions, but never got a response.
Great location
Nice hotel within a great location. Large bathroom. Only downside was no lift. So if you’re coming with luggage, pack light. Otherwise, it was a nice stay.
Location was difficult to find at first but once we found it it was easy. Room was nice and clean.
Stairs and hard to find. Staff are nice and friendly
If you go ask for 1st or 2nd floor 80 steps to the 4th floor good location clean and quiet 5star
Brilliant location right in the heart of Venice near Rialtto Bridge and St Marks Square. Small reasonably priced restaurant below. They will fit you in if they can if you arrive a bit late. You need to book breakfast and they stop serving at 9.30. Check out the wallpaper in the rooms :) Its fabric very beautiful . Downside no lift so if you are there for longer than 2 nights you will be fit by the time you leave. We were on the 4th floor so had 8 flights of stairs.
Excellent front desk staff. Excellent location. Second floor location was a bit loud from the street but that's due to prime location. No lift
Great location between Rialto and S. Marco.
A little tough to find, but great centric location for walk in any direction. Small narrow canal right beside building. Very friendly and helpfull reception staff. Nice enough breakfast at adjoining Gazzettina tavern. Room large, clean and comfortable. Bathroom renovated, clean and spacy.
Cute hotel with helpful staff
Very friendly and helpful. They prepared the room with flowers, chocolate and champagne for my girlfriend. No problems at all.
We arrived late and were buzzed in. An envelope was on the counter with our key and a city map. Room was very large br European standards, and had a canal view. The Restaurant next door is an interesting experience. The hotel is very centrally located only a short distance from Rialto, but a little difficult to find for those not familiar with the streets on Venice.
Great location! Brilliant staff
Wonderful hotel in a brilliant location in the city, helpful staff and clean room with lovely view of the canal. No coffee making facilities but this is something that you can live without!
A night in Venice
A wonderful night in Venice. The location was perfect, the room was comfortable and the WIFI was excellent.
Great location for tourist. Quiet.
No fuss hotel, staff are friendly if you can find them. Small family feel to the place.
Beautiful!
I cannot express how awesome it was to look out our hotel room and see a canal. It was absolutely lovely. We also had the largest bathroom I have ever experienced in Europe. It was hard to find (because it was off of a little side street), but once we did, we had no trouble navigating. It was only a short walk to St. Mark's square.
Great Location
Convenient, clean spacious room in a well run hotel. Easy to find and right in the heart of beautiful Venice
Bad experience,never will recomend
Highly recommended!
Lovely staff, reception closes at 6pm and we didn't arrive until 7.30 but receptionist was there to greet us. Beds changed everyday and room spotless. Modern bathroom with double shower and sink. We couldn't believe how by the room was!! Balcony was excellent and Gondola stop right I'm on canal so you could hear the singing and people watch. If you only want a typical Venetian clean room with excellent location at a reasonable price then this is for you. It's Venice after all, who wants to spent all their time in the hotel when there is so much to explore!!!
Nice hotel and closer to Rialto Bridge
Pretty decent hotel, well located. The staff is not on the front lobby 24 hrs. Hotel doesn't offer an iron on the rooms, it was not possible to get one even if we asked for. Restaurant that is right next to the Hotel in my opinion opens very late (past 8.30 am) like most of restaurants in Venice; Coffee shops are opened but just a few ones.
Convenient but not worth the price
This hotel is convenient to St Marks Square but very difficult to find. The room was clean but the king bed was actually two twin beds made separately but pushed together. The breakfast was very minimal and not as advertised. The front desk staff was nice but the flights of stairs difficult
Only stay if you can't walk 10minutes
Our room was on the 4th floor and as there's no lift in the hotel, we had to carry our luggages all the way up by stairs. Quite a journey to get up and then down when we checked out. Room was very ordinary, nothing special and the interior looks old and gloomy. You basically pay a high price just to be in the San Marco area that is closed to the main attractions. Very touristry and very busy with people walking around all day long. In hindsight, we would have stayed in the Rialto area (across the bridge from San Marco). I suggest that if you dont mind walking 10minutes then stay around 10mins walking distance from San Marco Doge's Palace, you may get better stuff for good price and less touristry location.
Lovely room
Great stay in a lovely Venetian room. Perfect location in the heart of venice, close to all the sights. Would be happy to stay again.
Pleasant Stay
Hotel was initially very difficult to find and definitely worth locating and marking on a map once there. Also, the Hotel is on a different Street to what was listed on Booking form. Had a late check in and only Staff there until 8pm so was gained entry via an intercom system. Room was spacious, clean, and quite opulent in a Venetian style. Good WiFi. Room had large comfortable bed. Good extras such as very reasonably priced mini bar and safe. Didn't initially realise there are outside shutters to reduce light in room. When seen, Hotel Staff were very friendly and got a 10% reduction for cash payment. Overall, was very happy with the Hotel and if ever back in Venice, would return
Good location
Just 2 nights, room much better than expected, location perfect
Room is tiny, no elevator but great location about 5 minutes walk to San Marco sq
Great location!
Very central location, must visit the restaurant they do amazing gluten free pasta although there is a very long wait (1hr)but we'll worth the wait and they give you food and shots while you wait!
Great location. Spacious room.
Close to Rialto bridge and St Marks. Very spacious room. Staff not much help and not real friendly.
Great hotel
This hotel is tucked away in Venice off the Rialto bridge, easy to access once you find it. Very friendly front desk attendant and helpful to explain the area map. Clean room, good internet connection and shower pressure (which are all important to us).
Enjoyed our stay. The room was clean & had a spacious bathroom. Enjoyed the balcony overlooking the canal.
Bad hotel experience.
Finding hotel locations in Venice is hard, that's a given. This one takes the prize. Hotel frontage facing a wall in a narrow street with no signage. Even locals unable to point out where it is. Front desk is just that- a small desk! Worse, no service after 8pm. Your room key comes with a front door key to get in and out on your own after 8pm. Whom to call in case you need assistance? You are on your own!! bed sheets don't look clean, we had rashes after one night. I don't know if bed has bugs or what's?!
Nice but lots of noise
The lobby and stairs of this hotel has an unusual smell I think it's down to the proximity of the kitchen and you will be woken by the noise from the canal as people start there's boats up. It's in a great location between Rialto bridge and St Marks sq with plenty of shops and cafe bars close by, the hotel restaurant is superb great service and great food, the rooms are a good size and well maintained the down side is don't expect any sort of service in the evening or early mornings there's no tea or coffee making facilities and there's no security at all, once they lock the front door and go home your on your own. If your unfortunate enough to have rowdy guests during the evening it's just unlucky there's no one to approach to help sort the situation.
Clean hotel with the best location!
Husband & I stayed for 3 days at this hotel and we love it! The location is so perfect.. Near to rialto bridge and san marco which you can easily find or buy your needs around the area.. It's near to the vaporetto stop if you need any.. Check in and out was smooth with kind english speaking receptionist lady.. We stayed at 3 floor with no elevator, luckily husband managed to bring up and down our luggages..The room we chose was a bit smaller but very clean..
Awesome place
This was a great place to be. The shower was great. The room was roomy. Very walkable. Such a cute area. Did not know what to expect, but took a chance with the hotel after reading the reviews. Would stay here again. People at front desk were always so kind. Don't expect a big lobby. The check in check out area is very small. The only thing the hotel should work on is the bedroom door rattled when someone slammed the front door. Something minor and the hotel should be able to fix. A must stay place.
This hotel is perfectly located to get to anything in the center of Venice. It's 5 mins or less to Rialto, where there is a vaparetto stop, and San Marco. Nice room with separate bathroom, and good breakfast.
Great Hotel
Great hotel in a great location. Gondola stop right outside. Great breakfast, friendly staff, very nice rooms.
Great hotel, fantastic location, beautiful city!
Hotel Al Gazzettino was an excellent choice for us. Great location very close to the Rialto Bridge, and a short walk to St. Mark's Cathedral. The room was a nice size and we requested a canal view room which was very nice. Also, we ate one night at the Trattoria Al Gazzettino right next to the hotel. It's not owned by the hotel, but it was excellent and the owner will give you excellent service and food at a reasonable price! The walk to the hotel is a little confusing at first so I recommend you print out the detailed map from the hotel website and follow it closely when you are walking from the bridge. We took the train into Venice, then got on the Vaporetto right outside the train station to Rialto Bridge. We took the vaporetto quite a lot, so it paid to get a 2 day pass with unlimited rides, rather than buying individual tickets. Venice is a must see-beautiful city but it is very crowded with tourists!
The staff were so friendly and helpful. Will definitely stay here again should I return to Venice. The hotel is conveniently situated close to water transport and it is relatively easy to find ones way to the local sights.
Venice trip
We stayed for two nights in Sept. second week Very close to all attractions, realto bridge and st. marcus square friendly staff small hotel with few rooms, very clean and neat as usual in italy small bath rooms strong wi fi signal No elevator, our room was on 4 th floor, (their third floor.) if you carry lot of luggage try to get a room on the lower floors...but there is a restaurant on the first floor and there will be lot of noise early in the morning, we felt one AM even on the top floor no windows that can be opened, so no view no breakfast overall not bad
Below average
The information we got from Expedia was Reception was open until 10pm. We got to Venezzia Sta Lucia train station around 7:30 pm and phoned the hotel only to be told reception closes at 8 pm The hotel should provide the street address not just the street number Breakfast is ok
Nice hotel close to Piazza San Marco
It was a small room but it was comfortable and clean
It is OK
We stayed two nights in this hotel and when we check in we found the people in the hotel is not so nice and it is very uncomfortable to see this. But the hotel itself is nice.
Amazing value, great staff and location
The hotel exceeded my expectation, the staff was warm and welcoming, they gave us a key for the front door to the hotel in case there is nobody at the reception!! The view was of the canal from the room, the decor was period with a modern bathroom. It was clean throughout, and in my opinion the hotel is underrated. The hotel is a 6-7min walk from St Marks square, which is the town centre. Whilst in Venice the two things you must do is: Murano, Burano, Torcello guided 4 1/2 hour tour for €30 per person (incredible value), and ride a gondola, despite being on boat tours the gondola is a completely separate entity.
Good Budget Hotel in Central Venice
We picked this hotel because of its prime location close to San Marco square, and for the reasonable room rates. Overall, I was very happy with our stay. The room was decently sized, clean, and nicely decorated. Unfortunately, it was also located on the top floor (floor 4, or the 5th floor in North American terms), which could be a challenge to get to at the end of a long day of walking around Venice. The room also didn't have a great view, but that wasn't really an issue given how much time we spent walking around the city. The hotel lobby did have a somewhat unpleasant smell, but fortunately the smell didn't permeate through the rest of the building.
Perfect location
This quaint hotel if perfectly situated. Walking distance to the Rialto Bridge and Piazza San Marco. Lots of shopping close by. At the end of the street (1 building down from the hotel) is a canal with gondolas. Good breakfast with lots of variety. There is no lift, however staff help to bring our luggage to our room located on the 3rd floor. We experienced a power outage due to a guest overloading electronics in their room. The hotel apologized for the problem and compensated us with Prosseco and pastries.
Great location
Free included breakfast buffet! We were incredibly pleased with the location of our hotel and would definitely stay there again.
Fabulous family accomodation
lovely location traditional style decor in rooms very clean excellent breakfast. would be happy to return.. family rooms particularly spacious.
Wonderful first visit to Venice.
An excellent walking tour and boat trip on the first day set us up for many treats. Perfect weather and the general friendliness and good humour enhanced the beautiful surroundings and made the whole experience magical. We bought a three day travel pass for the vaporetto and this took any stress out of getting around so we managed to see some of the other islands-- but not all ;so lots of reasons to visit again.
Venice experience
as with all hotels in Venice this one was hard to find but pretty sure everyone had the same problem. The hotel was nice but for the smell in the front entrance when you came in. The staff was wonderful and the breakfast was great! We stayed 2 days and on the second day my husband and I both had bits all over our bodies. Obviously from bed bugs I think the hotel should be aware that they have a problem.
Charming San Marco Venice Hotel
Staff was incredibly friendly and helpful! Decent location close to the sites we wanted to visit. Difficult to find at first (we were arriving late at night and had trouble navigating so certainly not the hotels fault more due to the confusing design of the city). Breakfast was good but nothing out of the ordinary. Wish there was a lift but I needed the work out anyway!
Great location & fantastic breakfast
Stayed in two of the deluxe rooms with views of the canal, my family of four in one, my sister-in-law and her husband in the other. We were not disappointed. Large rooms for Europe, nicely renovated bathroom, and they set up a crib for our four month old. The breakfast at the hotel restaurant was very good - fresh hot eggs and bacon, meats and cheeses, croissants, cereal, etc., and cappuccino. Location is wonderful, midway between Rialto and St. Mark's. Easy to get to: from the train station, take the #2 water bus 1 stop to Rialto, then an easy 5 minute walk.
Italy Trip
This hotel was in the perfect location, steps from the main square. It had a beautiful view and the room was so cute! Loved it!
Great location
Clean hotel located in a great location with friendly staff.
VENICE IN NOVEMBER
This is not a fancy hotel. No views. No lift. But, what you do get is a large room, large bathroom, nice shower, simple breakfast, great service and a good workout (no lift :) Location of the hotel is good. Quite close to the Rialto Bridge. In a busy area, but could not tell that in the room. Enjoy the sights of Venice.
Great Location
Great Location. Friendly Staff. Rooms Very clean and Free internet.
Good location, poor service
The location is excellent. Only a 2 minute walk to the Rialto Bridge and about 6 minutes to St. Mark's.There was no elevator (but that was told to us.) The room itself was bigger than anticipated. Good size for Italy. We used the cups and tea/coffee in the room and they were never removed, replaced or replenished. For 2 days, we were not able to watch TV, as there was no remote and the TV was mounted to the top of the wall and unreachable. We asked for a remote several different times, to two front desk ladies, and the manager twice. It was left in our room the night before we checked out. Our bathroom towels were never changed out. We pre-paid for the room, using this site, but there were city taxes that were much more expensive than the other hotel we had stayed at, and this hotel would only take cash for it, but did not notify us of the cash requirement when we checked in. Breakfast was plentiful and had a good variety. No ice machine in the hotel, and we had to ask for ice from the restaurant attached.
Beautiful hotel, close to everything.
Beautiful décor, close to shops and everything you need to see in Venice, breakfast was also good.
Decent hotel....room was too small..we requested 2 separate beds but receive single bed.. that was very disappointing...other than that, good hotel, good location.
Great location, nice staff, rooms like pics
Everything but the air conditioned was great
Pathetic customer service
We arrived and 10:30 pm and there was no one to open the door, even though I had called during the day and got confirmation that someone will be there. Difficult to find and entrance is creepy. No lift, but had good AC and coffee making facility. Near Rialto.
Perfect location near Rialto
The hotel had a perfect location near the Rialto bridge, which is perfect because water bus 2's first stop after the train station is this stop. The walk to St Mark Square was extremely close and the hotel is pretty centrally located. The included breakfast was very good and the staff was extremely friendly. Beautiful view of a canal from our room's balcony. Would definitely recommend.
Small, super friendly hotel
This is a great little hotel. Rooms were big enough for 2 adults and 2 kids. Free hot breakfast in the morning. Good/free wi fi in the rooms. Very central location. Only downside is not elevator, which is not a problem if you don't have mobility issues as there is only 4 floors. Staff in the reception area was so friendly and helpful - always smiling and great english.
Nice hotel, very small rooms.
The room was comfortable but small. The shower was smaller than a standard stand up shower stall. Breakfast was fine.
good location! historic building! but its own limitations
We stayed here for 3 nights in July end. Hotel was quite good over all. We got a room on the 3rd floor.- there was no lift. Which was really bad. Breakfast wasnt good enough. Food was not that fresh. Location is very good! We expected a canal view room and Balcony. Bit as our room was on 3rd flor we couldn't get that.
Great Romantic getaway
It's a nice little hotel, friendly staff. We upgraded for the room on the canal and it was lovely. The room was spacious and cozy. We were treated very nicely by the staff. It was a great stay and we wished we had booked more than one night! It's a little tough to find addresses in Venice, but if you take the waterbus to Rialto (just one stop from the train on the #2 waterbus) it's just straight down the street. Check out google maps for a better idea.
Good location, good price
Price was good and the location was excellent. Staff was helpful and friendly. Breakfast was included and was very good. The only thing I didn't like was that there was no elevator and we were staying on the top floor (4th floor).
Great hotel nr lovely quiet canal lovely room
Hotel very clean greet value for money lovely style
Great location, super helpful management
We only stayed one night but miraculously the owner allowed us to check in way early since our travel plans got us in in the wee hours of morning. He even gave us breakfast that day. Unexpected surprise. Very very kind and cheerful staff. They are happy to give you a map and show you how to get to the important places around town. The room was plenty big, the bed was big, two windows in the room, many fridge, the bathroom is pretty spacious with a shower, toilet, sink, bidet. Breakfast was great: toast, rolls, fresh fruit, yogurt, scrambled eggs, bacon, sweetbread, a variety of dry cereals, cookies, different kinds of beverages including cappuccino. We had our own key to the front door so you should come and go at any time of day or night. We had Wi-Fi. Our safe didn't work but management had already bought a new one to replace it so all should be good now. Very close to St. Marks square, Rialto bridge. Bars, cafés & restaurants everywhere. We would absolutely stay again.
Perfect
Its a Perfect Hotel. Hotel Staff is friendly. Rooms were clean. Didn't have breakfast so not sure about that. I would recommend staying here.
Hotel Perfecto!
We had a great time in Venice and the hotel is fantastic. It is in a great area and quite easy to get around. The only thing to know is there is no lift in the hotel, so a person who struggles with stairs needs to request a lower level room.
Location!
I've rated this hotel low but I actually really liked it. The low score is for the lack of lift & older reception area / breakfast room. The room itself was perfect: fully equipped, quaint, very Venetian & quite large for the San Marco district. The hotel location is awesome, the staff were really friendly & the breakfast spread was very good for Italy. I'd stay here again!
Hotel Al Gazzettino | Hotel in Venice | Travala.com
The staff is racist, rude and not helpful at all. The staff went out of their way to humiliate us at multiple occasions due to their mistakes. Its very overpriced and small. Finding it was very difficult. Room was stuffy. Cleanliness was missing. Very disappointed with this hotel.
