It's a bit far from anything, but not too far - 45 min walk from metro & eating options around Lan Jiang Rd. Walkway to river bridge starts opposite hotel, about an hour's walk across to Yellow Crane tower. Get a room facing riverfront (N or E) as the light show at night is spectacular.

This hotel has the best breakfast in China, bar none! We had friends and guests from the city whom we invited to the breakfast. The room is pretty basic, the carpets need replacing. The bar area has seen better days. We stayed in the penthouse suite on the way back, and really enjoyed the best light show in China from there. But the walls are very basic; they need decoration, some paintings on those walls. The staff is helpful, but English is a challenge for them.

Very friendly staff. A few hours after getting settled, the stink of cigarette smoke entered our room through the bathroom. My girlfriend has a lung condition so this was serious for us. I speculate that it came through the ceiling vent, perhaps from someone smoking in the room next door. I appreciate the staff acting quickly and sending someone to help us move, including bringing a new room key so that I didn't have to return to the lobby. This hotel is a bit isolated in Wuhan and there are only two restaurants, one of which is a bit pricey, within easy walking distance. We ate at both, but we had to taxi about 2 miles to get to any kind of business area where there were decent eating choices. For this reason, we will not stay there again.

Friendly, Clean & rooms with great views

We were greeted with friendly service from the doorman to the front desk staff. They even helped us get our left overs heated up for dinner. Our room was on the 13th floor and we paid about US 75. We had a great view of the Yangtse river which was really fun. The room was very clean and spacious. I was really impressed that they used biodegradable containers for the toiletries. The internet was so so, but I suspect good for the area. Huge bed. We prefer a firmer mattress with more support, but the bedding was nice. Refrigerator in room was useful for us. The walls were a little thin; we heard the neighbors TV in the morning somewhat. The only downside to being so close to the river is the occasional boat horns are a little loud in the early morning. We took taxis to see local places, like the Guiyuan Temple, which is about a 10 minute ride away. All staff were efficient and friendly, not something you find everywhere in China. We requested several bottles of drinking water and they didn't charge us extra. Although I didn't need it, I believe the front desk could speak English. We didn't try the restaurants, but ordered some fresh squeezed orange juice. When you added the service charge it came to to about RMB 34 a cup, which is pretty darn expensive and the juice was pretty mediocre (as if the oranges used were not very good). Overall, however, we really enjoyed our stay and would definitely consider going again.

Spectacular River Views,

The hotel has very poor food service, the coffee shop closed for lunch and dinner, the Chinese Restaurant only offered Malaysian Food. The Toucan Bar served snack meals only. However if you turn left outside the hotel you will find two very good local restaurants within 100 meters. The riverviews are spectacular.

4 star property with 2 star standard

Booked a superior room which was actually their standard room. The beds are old and flat. Duvet was too small. The room was not renovated, the toilet door and wardrobe door could not close entirely. The staff, especially the concierge was poorly if not untrained. Nobody help us at the door and we need to move our own luggage. The only bright spot was the breakfast was okay and the F&B staff courteous and helpful. I am an IHG member and this 4 star property really needs a revamp

Sufficiently good hotel

This is a good, not great, hotel in China. The facilities were sufficiently clean and comfortable; furthermore, the staff was friendly and helpful. The main drawback was the location. It is not terribly close to subway and there isn't much around the hotel in terms of attractions or food. Fortunately, cabs are fairly easy to get in this city and not very expensive.

Suprising Good Hotel

Prior to booking this hotel, I was concerned with other reviews claiming the hotel was "dated". On arrival, it appeared that this messagel was taken serious and it appeared the hotel had underwent complete renovation recently. The hotel is well-known in Wuhan so it was easy to find when using a taxi. I had free wifi when staying on Level 9 despite the website said wifi was only available in the lobby. The buffet breakfast is excellent and was different on the two days I stayed there. The isolated location is the only thing negative but tourist destination like "Yellow Crane Tower" is only approximately 15 RMB away by taxi. As I travel to Wuhan by train (Wuhan Station), the hotel is approximately 70 RMB away by taxi.

The staff were extremely accommodating and keen to help. The receptionist upgraded our room to a river view after an initial confussion over the room reserved. The new room was a good size but the air conditioning did not work correctly, the room temp remained consistent no matter what temp we set the thermostat at. The bedroom carpet couul do with changing or a good deodourising. The breakfast room is very nice and the fresh coffee very good. The overall standard of the breakfast was also very good. For a short stay the hotel and its location are perfect...

The hotel was fine but tired in appearance. The breakfast buffet was very nice with an good selection for the native Chinese, European and US travelers. I found the staff to be very accommodating and polite. The hotel was not in a convenient location for my needs since I was attending a congress across the river at the Marco Polo Hotel. When I booked the Riverside hotel through Hotel.com the staff person said it was a walkable 15-20 minute walk to the Marco Polo Hotel. NOT TRUE! The distance to the Marco Polo Hotel was much greater and traffic in China is incredible. The manner of traveling in China is highly different from the US or Europeans. It is a walk at your own risk country because pedestrians must fight for the right to cross a street. The pedestrian, motocycle, bikes, scooters do not abide the traffic lights and they all have the same rights when crossing or traveling the streets, which can be perilous. On my first day at the hotel I wanted to go to the Marco Polo Hotel where my conference was held. It was difficult for the staff to get a taxi because the distance was not far enough for the taxi driver. The following days I had better sucess. I would recommend that your staff be better informed on the travel styles of the countries they are booking in. I would say the advise I was given did not take into account the nature of the infrastructure and culture.

A fine hotel in Wuhan

Stayed here just one night while conducting business in the Wuhan area. As you might guess from the name, it's on the riverside a short walk from the First Yangtze River Bridge. Not much to do in the neighborhood, nor are there any restaurants or anything easy to walk to. Taxis in Wuhan are pretty sketchy even if you speak Chinese, so just get the front desk to call you one as they don't usually drive around that area. Amenities are fine, rooms are fine, the breakfast is fine, just all around fine hotel. Nothing earth-shattering, but very comfortable especially for the price. It has a nice waterfront sculpture park next door, and it's pleasant watching all the boats and barges ply up and down the river. It also has the first Irish pub in Wuhan with Guinness on tap and live music. Yellow Crane tourist area is a short drive across the bridge, and there is an elevator bridge access just down the street if you want to walk the bridge.

The hotel was great, very comfortable, but the Japanese restaurant in the hotel (under separate management) had THE WORST service we had anywhere in China.
